Cozy, clean rooms, lots of history, good location, good service, good pizza.

My wife and I booked the Ruebel Hotel to stay at for her birthday! When the weekend rolled around it was so cold and rainy we called to see we could push it a week and the owner gladly did it! Then we checked in early the day we arrived and ate lunch in the restaurant which had amazing food and the service was so amazing! We the. Visited the shops that were located all around the hotel including having some very good ice cream from The awhile Scoop across the street. We went and drank wine ate Aeris winery and had an afternoon snack at The Loading Dock (all of which were right by Ruebel Hotel) we finished by walking to the Oyster Bar for a good dinner and went back to the Hotel where my wife and I planned to spend the evening on the big deck overlooking the confluence of the Illinois and Mississippi! To bad we got a call from our family saying our kid got sick and we had to leave around 7 that night! The owner however felt terrible that we had to leave and offered us a discount on our next stay and and bottle of wine to take home with us! Neither of which we took because this hotel was so amazing and the ownership so generous that we couldn’t imagine taking more from them! We will be back to the Ruebel very soon because of their great ownership, central location, great employees and the fantastic accommodations!

We spent a relaxing cold, rainy afternoon at The Ruebel bar. The bikers were sad from the weather but the staff at Ruebel did a great job keeping us happy.

We had a great room. Great service. Superb food. Be going back.

We stayed in the room with a deck. Since it rained quite a bit we didn't get to enjoy it as much as we could but it was a nice room. Comfortable beds and more pillows than I could ever use. We really appreciated the mini fridge with two bottles of water too. We stayed here and walked to all the places we could go in Grafton. This was our view and the continental breakfast was a great start to our day. A lovely old school hotel, I recommend it.

We (family of 4) checked in on a Friday night at $244 for two rooms. The reason for two rooms is because there isnt any rooms with two beds available. The rooms are quant. The rooms are small, about the size of a bedroom. There is no tub, only a stand up shower. The beds are FIRM. The Wi-Fi did not work in our room whats so ever. The TV had several channels but a majority of them were not available. There is a bar. The breakfast on a Saturday is very selective. Breakfast menu picture is attached.

Stopped in for lunch on the patio and really enjoyed the view of the river and lighthouse, and the view of the street. I had the catfish sandwich which was really good! Charming old hotel / restaurant.

Super cute old hotel, comfortable beds, clean rooms and bathroom. A descent restaurant attached — breakfast not included, but a reasonable price. I'd stay here again for sure!

Stayed the night for Little River Band at the Loading Dock and it was wonderful accommodations. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. Great time!

Both the food and drinks were great! We sat outside and were served right away. Our server was extremely friendly and they were willing to make pretty every type of drink.

Smallish rooms, but sized and furnished similar to other boutique hotels I've stayed in. Bed was comfortable, linens and bathroom were clean, and breakfast at the attached bar/restaurant was excellent. Parking was more than adequate. My only real complaint was the constant traffic noise since our room was facing the street.

No one working reception. Bar closed and locked ice cream place closed and locked restaurant closed and locked. Its 4pm we can't check in until 3pm and there are no workers to be found. Finally a kid comes in and says oh yeah I had to go to the owners house for a bit. Seriously why not leave a note for people who made reservations. Then 3 loud women came in while we were trying to check in, talked over us because they were "regulars" and wanted to make sure we weren't getting the room they wanted. There was no kindness from the young man who waited on us. We did not get the room we booked on line. The place is nice but a horrible first impression stays with you. We left about 20minutes after we checked in to go find dinner somewhere and all of the lights were out in reception area nothing about who to call if there were any problems. For what the room cost us, this was horrible and we won't stay here again ever.

Quite expensive, $134 per night, tiny room, no continental breakfast, no pool, noisy AC units hang out each window. Paid for breakfast the first morning, then ventured out the other days on our visit. Heard that there was gunshot holes in the walls from AL Capon in the basement, but now it's under construction with all to see was new sheet rock not finished yet.

We went for lunch on s whim while walking in Grafton. A reasonable lunch fir two with great atmosphere. It was cool.

Stopped in yesterday for the first time. Staff was nice. Took a little long for burgers and a pizza though. Burgers were worth the wait. Pizza not so much.

Went for drinks last night and came back for breakfast in the morning. Good quality food and pretty good drink selection. Also had live music which was a nice experience. It was a quaint little place (in a good way) that I look forward to coming back to.

This was my first and last stay at the Ruebel Hotel. I called around noon on a Saturday and made a last minute reservation, the woman I spoke with was very kind and I thought she explained everything very well to me. She told me I could check in after 3:00 pm, the restaurant closed at 9:00 pm, and the bar was open until the last person left. I was fine with all of this. I arrived in town around 2:00, since I couldn't check in until 3:00 I met up with some friends, who were also staying at the Ruebel, and went to one of the local wineries. We then went to dinner and stopped in a local bar, just next door to the Reubel. Around 11:00 our group went to the hotel for the night, we called the number at the front desk and after a couple minutes a young man (apparently the owners son) came downstairs and said "I will be with you in just one minute, I have to finish my game of Halo" then ran back upstairs. After 15 or 20 minutes he came back and got us checked in. At the time of check in we voiced our dissatisfaction with having to wait for him to finish his video game. He then informed us that we were lucky he waited around for us to check in since 9:00 pm was the latest we could check in. We told him that we made 3 separate reservations and at no point were any of us told we couldn't check in after 9:00.

While making phone reservations for a weekend stay I was told that there was a two night minimum, so I would have to book a room for Friday and Saturday night. This was not a problem, because that was our plan anyway. When we arrived, the manager told us he only had reservations for us for one night. We could not find another room in town for Saturday night and had to cut our trip short, missing the main Sunday attraction that we came for. All reservations are by hand. Seems they would benefit from upgrading to a computer so customers could get email confirmations to prevent these human errors.

A charming, delightful place. Mo and the staff took very good care of me while I visited there late this Summer (2014). I was completing a bicycle ride along the Mississippi River at the time.

We had a relaxing time at the Ruebel. It is so quaint with many antiques and historic atmosphere. The rooms have been kept in the 19th century motif with lovely décor. Our room was extremely clean and bed was just right. They do provide TV/internet, but who needs that when you can sit on a deck and watch the old muddy Mississippi and its traffic?! My only change would be to not go on Monday since their "saloon restaurant" is closed on Mondays and the menu looked delicious. Would go again and recommend.

Fantastic Hotel! We live 90 minutes away from Grafton and frequent the town often. We have had excellent dinner at the Ruebel Restaurant over the years but have never stayed at the Hotel. Yesterday we couldn't tear ourselves away from enjoying the time in town and decided to spend the night. We called multiple places and the Ruebel had the best rate and location for what we wanted. The owner and his son treated us like we were 5 star guests. The entire place was very clean and staff was friendly. We cannot wait to return.

I had read all the reviews for places to stay in Grafton and this place seemed the best. I wasn't wrong! It is a quaint, little, family owned hotel. When you walk in, there was a sign on the front desk that said come to the bar for help — that was our kinda place! We received a key for our hotel room, not a card to swipe! The room was sufficient for our needs. My boyfriend and I ate at the restaurant there in the Reubel twice and both times it was delicious. The wait staff was super friendly and efficient. If going back to Grafton, I would most definitely stay here again.

Doesn't look like much, and there usually aren't many people, but the waitresses are super nice and the food is always excellent. Stop by for dinner and drinks if you are in town.

Always liked staying here. Shame the owner made it a bad experience.
