Have been staying here the last 3 years while our daughter is in university near by. We were initially impressed with the hotel. However, the last two stays indicate the hotel is in decline. Yes, it has 80's architecture. But that is kind of cool. But the landscape needs desperate attention. Dead trees, weeds, vines covering the windows, and an empty, trashed fountain. The dumpster in the parking lot is overflowing with garbage. Inside is dusty and cob webbed. Our room had a gaping, rough space where the 'fridge used to be. The internet service did not work the entire time of our last stay. And we had no towels. The staff were unprofessional in appearance. One employee was wearing a Chicago Bulls basketball uniform! The only good thing that remains about the hotel is the breakfast. That's why I gave it 2 stars. Have only 1 or 2 visits to the area before my daughter graduates. Regrettably, we will be looking for new accommodations.

My family and I stayed here for 2 weeks while my builder completed our home. I wasn't too excited about staying in a hotel for 2 weeks considering this wasn't a vacation and I still had to get up every day and go to work but the hospitality was the best I've ever experienced. The staff went above and beyond to meet our needs. The walls and doors seem like they were sound proof so I was able to get a good night sleep. Kids enjoyed their morning waffles and swimming in the pool. Thank you!

Very large commons area in the lobby. It's the biggest I've seen at a free breakfast hotel. Awesome staff.

A fantastic value — — oversized spacious rooms with views of the pond, comfortable beds, mini fridge and microwave, full hot breakfast buffet with bacon, sausage, waffles and more. Gorgeous park-like grounds and convenient to I-65 and many restaurants nearby.

Public hot tub by the pool was down. So they hooked us up with the presidential suite. More than worth it for the extra it cost. It had its own private hot tub for two. Skylight over the sofa-bed. Relaxed all night, had the free breakfast and enjoyed the room until check out.

Decent place to stay. The rooms were properly furnished and everything was very clean. The meeting room was spacious and well equipped. The food was great as well. There are 2 stories and the meeting room is located upstairs… just be advised there's no elevator in case you have a large quantity of anything… people, food, other paraphernalia. Overall, I liked it.

BEWARE, this place has BED BUGS. I wish I could give them 0 stars. We stayed there to have a fun night swimming with our 2 yr old, because he had to have surgery that week. The pool was disgustingly dirty, and the hot tubs water was colder than the pool. We couldn’t use it, but had the “presidential suite” so decided whatever we would just let him play in the whirlpool. Then when it was time for bed at 8 months pregnant with our 2 yr old in bed I wake up to BED BUGS crawling on me. We immediately packed up and left, and were told by the front desk we would get refunded, and the manager would call us in the morning. The call never came, we called repeatedly to get in contact with the GM. I left messages and never received a call back. When my husband finally got a hold of one of the women they only offered us a free nights stay. Um, what?! you have bed bugs we will never be back. Then when we are charged they charged us $20 more than what we were supposed to pay. Horrible management, the place wasn’t clean, and did I mention THEY HAVE BED BUGS?!

Great customer service just wished the whirlpool worked as well the pool was actually warm. The front desk person didn't have any knowledge and messed up our check in but management worked everything out and the headache was gone. They were wonderful with exception of the one front desk worker and the pool area.

"Hot Tub" was ICE cold… shower was miserable, no hot water there either! Save yourself the headache and stay on other side of interstate!

When I checked in, I informed we would be using pool, and hot tub, she didn't even tell us the hot tub broke for 2 weeks. They charged 145.00 for double bed, it is not worth the price. I will be going some where, but not there.

Caution do not stay here! I have stayed here multiple times for business. Was overall pleased until recently. My credit card was charged for a stay that did NOT take place! I am unable to reach the hotel due to their phone system being down for weeks. I contacted choice hotels and they verified phone system is down. They provided me with the managers direct number, left a voice mail for her and she has not returned my call.

This hotel is awesome… Especially for the price. Free breakfast, pool, hot tub, & nice rooms. They have a bar & snack food as well!

Not bad, but the bathroom is small. The door is likely to cause a round of pinball. Decent breakfast.

They did not clean our room on Friday. We had to go get fresh towels at 11pm. Really sucked. Not even a complimentary cup of coffee. Other than that it was fine.

If I could give 0 stars I would, warning don't stay here unless you want them to give your room to someone else after you have check in and have room keys. Spent over a hour trying to get another room and check out, the front desk manager Shwonda was little to no help and the general manager Bridget could not even come out to speak with us after being told twice that she would be with me after speaking with the owner. We now have two charges on our account 1 for each room and another $40.00 charge that was suppose to be a credit because that's all they could do. The front desk is very unprofessional, hopefully once they get a new owner things will change for the better. To top it off the receipt they gave me is for the room that they gave someone else and is showing me paying for it with the same day check in and check out 33 minutes apart.

Don’t miss this sleeper. Off the beaten path. Close to everything. Amazing rates. Totally different look. Amenities galore. Clean rooms awesome staff. Book without hesitation. We are working in Hobart, tried 4 different inns. This is far and away the best. I wished I could find this everywhere we worked.

This a very nice hotel to stay. The room was clean and the staff was very courteous and attentive. I highly recommend this hotel.

Did not look as good as the pictures, but still a really nice place. Staff was nice and friendly. Room was clean and spacious.

Everyone at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. They (the frond deal staff) went out of their way to take good care of us. Breakfast was good, hours extend beyond normal. That being said, reservations fri-sun, not sure why the maids insist on busting in on Sat at 8:45 to ask if we're staying. … well ya, we have reservations through tomorrow! Probably my fault though. Should have put up the do not disturb sign, but still, they knock and 10 sec later they enter? Good thing I had the internal lock set. We won't be coming back. Not nearly as clean as the pictures would lead you to believe. How they are ranked 4 stars is beyond me. My parents room across the hall reeked like cigarettes despite the no smoking signs and promises.

The room was nice and clean. I found the bed to be a little hard but comfortable. The free Continental breakfast had eggs, bacon, waffles, pastries and so many other choices! And the staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be staying here again.

Service was wonderful. We had a fantastic night's sleep. The front desk was get friendly. The breakfast buffet was delicious. I only wish I'd had time to try out their beautiful pool.

I'm here now, my stay for the past week has been awesome. Outstanding staff and beautiful facility. I just walked out of my room and seen a mouse run into the room next door. I stuffed my door with towels and I'll be leaving tomorrow.

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The mattress was amazing and the pillows were heavenly. I will definitely be staying here again!

I regularly stay here for work trips. The common areas are well maintained and the breakfast is good. In the past I have been very pleased with this location. Recently, I've had concerns with cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms. There was a coinciding reduction of room rates which did offset my concerns some and I haven't run into any issues that couldn't be solved by asking for a different room.

Room was nice. Very spacious. Free breakfast included with reservation was good. The pool and hot tub are nice and well kept. Some rooms on the back of the building have a decent view as well. Overall I would definitely go back.

The building is a little older, but it's maintened well. The rooms are pretty modern and most importantly, clean. It's off the road a bit and has nice landscaping and great tree foliage. It makes for a cozy affordable nook just off the highway. Don't hesitate to stay here!

If you go towards the ice machine look out the window great lake, and nice place to be romantic and kids enjoy being in the pool and hot tube.

Booked through Priceline. Room was under $100 for one night, was great and perfectly clean with a good view. Staff was exceptionally friendly. Would stay again if in the area.

Greqt hotel for the price. A little dated but overall a great deal.

This hotel was disgusting and I will make sure I never stay here again. First they ran out of towels, I have never heard of this happening at a hotel. And then, the housekeeper told me she couldn't clean my room, that it was now or never. It was Easter weekend and I'm sure a busy time for them, but that means they should have definitely been prepared for the increased traffic. I stated for two nights with no more towels or my room being serviced. Upon checking out I asked for the managers contact info, the next day I called and left a message and still no reply. I even called her back a couple days later and left another message but still never a call back. I then proceeded to call corporate and they were just as rude and unprofessional as the hotel that I stayed in. I was make sure everyone I come in contact with knows about my experience and will discourage anyone from staying at this hotel!

Got our reservation wrong. Queen instead of double bed. Charged us a different rate than quoted. The people checking us in were nice, but will avoid Clarion in the future.

There's NO WAY the other reviews here are real. Let me tell you about my experience. I have played in a national touring band for over a decade. So to say I've stayed in numerous ishholes would be an understatement. But I've never been driven to write a review before. I arrive for my band and I staying for 3 days. 4 guys, they have us down for a king bed… I showed the girl my reservation from 3 months prior that said 2 doubles. "Well we have none left" Get to the room (at 10pm) door is wide open, sheets had not been changed, no toilet paper, remote doesn't work… Next day come back after recording all day… New key doesn't work again. Go to enter on the side door where it says "key needed for safety of our guests" but of course that's busted and looks like it has been for a while. Get back to the room and it had been made up (Pleasant surprise) still no toilet paper. Teenagers playing basketball right outside our room until 1am. Worst hotel experience we've ever had. Other reviews can't be real.

My family and I use to come here a good amount a few years ago, when we had a family member working here, back when it was called Courtyard and it was great. It was a pretty place, clean, wonderful breakfast, pool area was nice, nothing to complain about. Recently (end of July 2015) came back for one night and the outside was still pretty, lobby was nice, however it wasn't the same. It was just small things but I could tell it wasn't up kept the same way it use to be. The hallways were dark and a little dingy, the housekeepers carts were left outside my room door in the hallway all night and there was a small smell. The breakfast was not good, their water container in the lobby wasn't refilled from the night we checked in and still wasn't refilled by the time we left in the morning. I didn't try the pool this time. The staff however was nice and helpful and my room was clean so overall I would try it out again.

Stayed there recently. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The pool is clean and the breakfast was good. The friendly professional staff completed my stay and I would recommend this hotel.

This is a beautiful, clean and relaxing hotel. I got a deal through Priceline which was a plus. I love the pond, fountain and trails out back they are wonderful. The room was spacious and clean. Our room had a mini fridge and microwave in it which was a plus. The breakfast is not free so I did not eat here. The only issue I had with this hotel is one of the front desk clerks who was a bit nasty and kept blowing me off with questions that I had. She acted as if she had a problem with me because she sure as hell was extra nice to the other patrons I saw her talking to … I would stay here again. We had a nice relaxing time.

One of the best hotels to stay at in the area. I travel up the Merrillville quite a bit and have stayed in many different hotels. The Courtyard is by far the best! It is clean, quiet, and cozy. The service is great! The layout isn't great, there is no elevator and you may have to walk a ways to get to the lobby. This was easily overlooked because of how wonderful everything else was.

My husband and I had no reservation as we had not expected to be so tired; and had planned to drive the relatively short distance home to Louisville, KY. We were happy to be registered. Given a nice discount. Because we are old?. And in our room within minutes! There would be three excellents had our room not been cold, however, we enjoyed sitting in the lobby by the fireplace while waiting for it to warm up! Furthermore, I've just called to see whether I left a notebook there on the couch and a very pleasant young lady told me that I had, and she would be happy to mail it to me.

Hotel, while clean, is in need of updating. Things such as small refer and microwave, that even Holiday Inn Express now offers, would be nice. Front desk service was great, very friendly.

Little old but loved the spacious rooms. Great staff. No elevator, but not really an issue.
