Looking for the best location in Chicago is usually an expensive priority, luckily in April we found a special offer at the Loews Chicago. Confident with the Loews name, it was an easy choice. Enter the Loews Chicago, first we noticed an elegant lobby with a very contemporary feel, check-in kiosks manned by effervescent staff, a large open lobby with a mix of casual sofa seating and tall tables where you can enjoy meals and cocktails, and a fireplace. We dined at the Royal Society Parrilla Argentina restaurant in the hotel. Excellent food, drink and service at an anticipated price. Four guests with cocktails and a mix of dinner orders, some shared was $222. For breakfast friends had suggested the casual Yoke restaurant. A short three block walk, a business card from the hotel concierge we cut the hour wait to about 10 minutes. This was a fun breakfast stop for about $15 per person. The hotel offers breakfast but we were following a recommentation to Yoke. Reggae music in the lobby on Saturday evening, At various times during our stay there were sports events on the extremely large TV on the lobby wall. The games gathered an enthusiastic crowd. The elevator bay was another hint that the trendy decor was going to carry through to the guest rooms. I'm not sure who wrote the quotes displayed in the elevators but they make a quick read on the very fast and quiet elevator rides. Guest rooms have swipe cards, just waive across the reader. We had a very spacious superior king room. High dark wood dresser with large flat screen tv, a desk and chair, an easy chair and side table and the bed make this a very comfortable room. The decor is contemporary yet elegant. An extremely comfortable bed with crisp sheets, duvet and extra pillows made for a very good night's sleep. The side lamps with moveable reading lamps attached were appreciated. The bath was modern and convenient. A night light on the vanity, two drawers with a hair dyer in one, a large mirror and a moveable magnifying mirror. The bath had a rain shower and moveable shower head. There were three safety bars in the tub, a thoughtful design. The walls papered and tile, the floor marble. The bathroom door was a large sliding door made me think of a barn door slide. Our room had a view of the Sheraton next door but we didn't pay for a view so this was not an issue for us. As a travel agent with many years of experience, I can highly recommend this hotel for it's location, service, amenities and value.
