My experience at this hotel was mixed in many ways. It had many strong points, but a few glaring weaknesses as well. CON: Breakfast: The breakfast is terrible. Not bad. Not "okay. " Not "sorta bad. " This breakfast was downright awful. The meat was cold by the time you reached your table. Only one out of four of us was able to eat the eggs. The selection as a whole was not good. The second day was an EXACT repeat of the first horrible breakfast with no deviation or additions. The only thing that changed on the second day was that the food made even my tough gator constitution pale with sickness. Unfriendly: The employees aren't outright unfriendly, but they aren't quite friendly either, making interaction somewhat awkward. English: Most of the staff does not speak it. This makes interaction very difficult, even for a well traveled reptile such as myself. Refrigerator: This hotel places a great deal of emphasis on saving energy. This can be a good thing. However, one of the ways in which they save on energy is turning the fridge off when someone leaves. Firstly, we failed to see the tiny little note saying that the fridge was off until the next morning, when we noticed our drinks were warm. Secondly, upon searching for a way to turn on the fridge, no way was readily available to turn on the fridge, so I abandoned my search. PRO: Clean Rooms: The rooms are clean and well maintained. We declined maid service so we cannot comment on their efficacy. The rooms were stocked with the basic amenities. Clean Hotel: The hotel as a whole was also clean. Location: The location is one of the best features of this hotel. It isn't in Gettysburg proper, but it's a very short walk from the National Cemetery and part of the park, secluded along a peaceful but moderately busy road. I took a peaceful and refreshing morning walk from this hotel, and took several opportunities to sun myself next to the many cannons that dot the roadside. — — — — — — — — — — — On the whole, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It's clean, well maintained, and modern. It does, as mentioned above, have some very glaring issues that detract from the worth you will get from your money, especially if breakfast is an important part of your decision. There are a variety of other choices in the area for your money that may be better, but I'd be willing to go back here if it was the best option out of several. A note to the hotel owners: All of the issues with your hotel are preventable, and easily preventable as well. As a representative of the American Association of Traveling Alligators, I humbly beseech you to update your selection of breakfast foods, and to replace your ineffective food warmer. IF you do this, and alternate the daily breakfast selections, I'd consider this hotel worthy of a 4 out of 5. Friendliness, both of the English speaking and Non-English speaking staff is also an easy fix, that requires little monetary investment to accomplish. Sincerely, Travel Gator.
