Absolutely wonderful weekend away! We stayed in one of the Yurts with comfortable bed, seating and private bath, definitely not a Girl Scout yurt. We explored Hiking trails and ventured to Grantsville. Morning muffins and juice along with the ability to make coffee and tea was a great start to our day. Dinner at the on-site restaurant was delicious with tasty cocktails followed by a community campfire was the perfect end to our day. We will be back soon and highly recommend for couples!

Perfect isolated romantic getaway!

We always come when there's a lot of snow on the ground! This is the first time our Bernese Mountain Dog has come along and he was in his glory! Amazing food, gorgeous scenery, very friendly people!

What a great experience! We got lucky with a cancellation and enjoyed time in a yurt and in the woods! Heated floors, roomy Yurts with luxury bathroom and robes! They bring you breakfast in a little cooler in the morning! The new fire pit was awesome and great service and amenities. The owners are a complete delight! Thank you Mike and Jan & staff first a rememberable stay!

We love this place! I’ve stayed here twice now with my husband. Once was prepandemic and one now and both times we had amazing experiences. We bring our dog and stay in one of the cabins. The cabins are great. I recommend people BYOB lunches, snacks and drinks. The restaurant there is also great and they have a fire outside the lodge at night to roast marshmallows. The staff is very friendly. We spend hours hiking the property during the day and spend the nights in the cabin playing board games. Highly recommend and will definitely come back!

We were just married here a few days ago. I can honestly say it was like a dream. The staff were so accommodating and kind. We had a small 10 person elopement and it was perfect. We were married off a path in the woods. It was so beautiful and intimate. Our food was amazing and our wedding cake they provided was delicious. We stayed in one of the yurts and our guests stayed in a cabin. They were clean, quiet, and provided such a surreal atmosphere. They made my dream of a small outdoor rustic wedding a reality. Even through all of the COVID-19 scares, they took every precaution to make sure our wedding was safe and still took place. We couldn’t be more grateful for their kindness. Highly recommend for the intimate small wedding experience!

We came here several years ago and had a magical time. But then last fall, we returned and had quite the different experience. The deferred maintenance and poor service was so apparent that I asked the owners during their happy hour if they were planning to retire or sell soon (just had that feeling). They said no… but it looks like the entire property is now on the market so I guess they changed their mind. I could go on and on about how disappointing our last visit was but I've already posted the full-blown review elsewhere. Just be aware that the lodge is for sale and the in-between-owners experience may not be worth the $$$.

Beautiful mountain cabin retreat with a great restaurant with fantastic food.

Over a decade ago, I stayed for a beautiful outdoor wedding. My boyfriend and I decided — to go back to do our Valentine's evening at the lodge. After a long stent, it did not disappoint, even better than I remember. Outstanding service, cozy atmosphere, excellent quality dinner! Probably the best scallops I've ever had. I would recommend this establishment for a family trying to get away from the city, a couple that needs alone time or just a quiet evening nestled in the woods. Well done SRL! (bring a 4 wheel drive, winters are treacherous, and warm clothes — you're up in the mountains)

First time here, very lovely! Enjoying our stay in one of the yurts very much. The staff is wonderful, beautiful area, the food, dinner and lunch were delicious. Scheduled a massage for tomorrow. Went for a nice hike today. They provide you with a map and the trails are nicely marked. We may add this to one of our yearly trips.

Beautiful dining room, fireplace and delicious food. We celebrated our wedding with a dinner there 8 years ago and went back for our 8th anniversary tonight. Food was absolutely yummy, speedy service, had a great server as well. Thanks for the chocolate covered strawberries!

Food is excellent! Friendly staff! Perfect scenery! Pet friendly! Also have to note that they acknowledged our anniversary with champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries plus treats for the pups. We’ve had a wonderful weekend with our hounds. Thanks so much!

Great food in a peaceful atmosphere!

Went for an anniversary get away a few years back. My husband and I had a great time! Delicious muffins and fresh juice brought to the cabin every morning. Amazing 5-star dinner brought to the cabin and set up like we were at the restaurant. We had great downtime from our everyday life and enjoyed nature and time together without distractions of the outside world.

Usually stay in the cabins, just didn’t work out for us this year. Every one is kind & helpful! Always a wonderful relaxing time! Just what we need this time of year. Cozy cabins, no tv, usually snow, you can bring your dog, (Jacobi loves it), hiking trails, excellent food!

You can't beat the atmosphere! Quite and peaceful. Watch deer in the field eating or a little chipmunk trying to find his dinner. It's wonderful!

Absolutely a terrible experience. Have been there several times before and had wonderful experiences BUT this was not. Shae, Molly and Amber did their best without resources. Party of six, all have been there serveral times. Everything went wrong. Drinks had to be returned, two and half hours no food, or even bread! Chicken piccata came out as a half a roasted chicken! Found out bartender and chef not working that night! Only four other customers there that night.

The yurts are an amazing place to stay and completely get away from the city or life in general. There's trails to hike, and some cabins are dog friendly. The lodge is gorgeous and offers amazing food for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Would love to go back soon.

Found this place on a trip to outer bank's. Were very excited when we pulled up after the adventurous drive into the place. That turned to disappointment quickly. Menu looked good but AFTER ordering, waitress cameback (several minutes) and informed us that the item was no longer available. After waiting 45 minutes for our food it was served barely warm. My wife's avocado was BROWN! The setting was beautiful. We took a key before dinner so we could check out a yurt with intentions of a future getaway. We returned that key without even checking it out. We would not want to stay at a secluded lodge and plan to eat at that restaurant.

Loved this place. Can not wait to return. Very pretty grounds. Hiking trails all over. The hospitality is wonderful. Good food and drinks.

Love this place. It’s the perfect getaway with breathtaking views, cozy cabins and yurts. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Lodge is beautiful and the perfect place to hang out at the bar with the fireplace and fun games to encourage meeting the other guests. Having said all of that, the dining room is in serious need of a face lift and food service was very slow despite there being very few guests dining on a Sunday night. Our meal took over an hour to arrive. Just a few updates would go along way to bringing the lodge into this decade.

I went here for a job interview, even though it didnt work out, it is still a lovely, quiet park. A wonderful lodge and beautiful one of a kind yurts and cabins. Its worth it.

Beautiful cabins, surrounded by so much breathtaking wildlife. The cabins are more posh than I'm used to, but it makes the stay VERY comfortable. The food served at the lodge is top notch and sourced from local farms, which adds a lot to the experience. It was nice to come here and detox from technology and bustling city life, I'd recommend anyone to do the same if you have the opportunity!

Beautiful getaways are hard to find. Sitting in mountain Maryland in Garrett County is a very special place. Not easy to find but worth the hunt! A quiet well maintained lodge and cabins sit in the deep woods. Want a real get away, quite, peaceful, and beautiful? Here it is, Savage River Lodge. Worth every moment to find it and worth every penny to stay there. Good food too!

Very peaceful and quite, the cabins are rustic and haven't been updated in many years. The restaurant in site is delicious. If you want a quite get away in the beautiful mountains then this is the place to come.

We recently visited for our ten year anniversary and our experience was excellent. The atmosphere was beautiful and serene. The accommodations were better than I expected. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I can't recommend it enough.

This is a personal piece of heaven on earth. Savage River Lodge allows you to unplug from the world. It is the true definition of "me" time and relaxation. If you never want to leave your cabin or yurt you don't have to. Breakfast is brought to your door each day. You have the option to have all meals brought this way and set up on your table as if you were in the restaurant. You need AWD in the Winter. PLEASE do not try to come without it. They provide a shuttle for those that don't have it and you can leave your car at the entrance. It is a very short and scenic walk to the lodge which contains a bar, restaurant, cozy 2 sided fireplace, lounge area for reading or chatting and a shop. The only thing that didn't happen for me during my stay was I didn't receive a callback from the masseuse in regards of if she/he would be able to do my massage during my stay.

Beautiful place, serene. Our dogs loved running around off leash on the trails. The big drawback is the food. There are very few vegetarian and vegan options so we were stuck eating guacamole and French fries the entire weekend (they do offer a tofu bowl but it wasn't very good). If the menu was improved, we'd definitely come back though.

This is a place you must visit. If you have the want for a Peaceful, Serene, and incredibly atmospheric experience in the great woods of Western, MD. We lucked out with the great overnight snowfalls! From the baskets of goodies, every morning filled with libations and doggie treats delivered to our cabin. To the great lunches, happy hours by the huge lodge fireplace, and dinners in a rustic lodge. The long walks on the trails to sledding down the hills by the lodge our boys and dogs enjoyed their mountain getaway! Thanks to a great staff and owners for your entertainment! We will definitely be back to experience one of the Yurts, and the close by golf course soon! Again this place is a must experience for those who want to get away in the great outdoors yet still feel at home!

I love this place SO much! The yurts are incredibly beautiful and luxurious and the cabins are so cozy! I've stayed in both and personally prefer the cabins, specifically the cabins with porches facing the woods. They're dog friendly, too, which is fantastic! Breakfast is delivered to your door in the morning. Once finished, I highly recommend hiking the trails! They're gorgeous!

High end service in a rustic beautiful setting. Check out the Yurts! Great staff! Nobody works harder than the owners and their mngr Emily. Cross country sking, fishing, hiking, and more. What a cool place with great food in a outstanding setting. Just the road in is a adventure.

It was my first time staying there. It was beautiful, peaceful, and charming. The food was delicious and well priced. Will be staying again in the future.

This is such a special place! Everything is so nicely done, from the flashlights on the key fobs to the picnic basket of breakfast goodies delivered to the door in the morning. Food is absolutely incredible too! We can't wait to come back!

I would have loved to review this place based on my stay with my wife but was never given a chance to do so. I had made online reservations and was contacted via email about my reservation. They stated that there was a 3 night stay minimum because of the holiday (Christmas). I had reserved Dec. 22 — 24. A two night stay. Knowing it was a holiday weekend and usually establishments have certain rules on holiday stays I verified that Christmas was not on their list of 3 night minimum at the time of my reservation. I called them to tell them that Christmas was not on that list. I was still told that it would have to be a 3 night stay. I told them that my wife was handicapped and a 3 night stay would be too hard on my wife and would not be possible. I had reserved one of their Yurts because it is one level and it would have been perfect. Their cabins have lofts where the beds are located and too many steps for my wife to take to get to the beds. I was hoping that this would change their mind but they still wanted the 3 night minimum. They even said we have cabins… really! Wife… handicap… stairs! So if you have physical challenges forget about this place, seems you would not be treated fairly. Ruben P. This is a response to Emily’s comment: I know that you require a three night stay on certain holidays. I have a screen capture of your website list and Christmas was not on that list as of Saturday morning when I called SRL about the reservation.

This place is pure Paradise! We stayed in cabin known as the Cabin of Corks. You'll just have to stay there to figure out why! Luxury details and a fantastic restaurant with beautiful views if it's warm enough to sit outside. The only thing missing from this Eco Resort Hideaway are hot tubs! Not cheap but worth every penny.

I thought the food and service was good. We had a big group so they put us upstairs in our own private room which was very nice. We went out on the deck and watched the feeding of the deer. The only negative was the road coming into the restaurant. It is unpaved and has several pot holes.

It's been a few years since our last visit. I remember Savage River Lodge as being a top tier resort. This visit while nice and relaxing, showed signs of slippage. From basic maintenance issues such as loose steps on a stairway to main lodge as well as cabin Screens with holes and unsecured, carpeting with nails uncovered. In general the overall appearance of the lodge and our cabin seemed in need of much TLC. Our dinner was worth the trip, my wife ordered the pheasant, and I had the artic char. Very well prepared, and a nice wine selection. The price did not match the value for over night accommodations.

Absolutely amazing place to get away. Beautiful, staff are great. Food is excellent. Huge beautiful fireplace, that you can sit and enjoy.

Savage River Lodge is a magical place in the middle of the deep dark woods. The place is so comfortable and charming that even using the restroom is a pleasant surprise. The soap and moisturizer was a wonderful unexpected treat. But the best thing about the lodge is the food. We had a crab dip appetizer that was loaded with lump crabmeat. The bread was scrumptious and presented beautifully wrapped in a cloth napkin. I had a grape salad with a fruit flavored dressing, walnuts, and blue cheese that was so delicious and unique. My husband had a cup of beef stew that I tasted. It was out of this world. We both had a seafood trio alfredo. The scallops were seared to perfection, and the alfredo was full of lump crabmeat. And, of course, the shrimp were huge, plentiful, and cooked just right. We got desserts to go. I opened the box with the peanut butter pie, and there were two chocolate dipped strawberries in the box along with the silky smooth peanut butter pie. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our meal. Go have a meal at the lodge. You'll never have a better experience.

Anniversary gift from our children. Lunch and Dinner at the Lodge was much more than expected. Delicious! Staff was super friendly. Cabin and Lodge well appointed and comfortable. Great experience. Plenty of trails for hikers and pets at this pet friendly destination.

Staff and owners were wonderful. Our luggage had to be delivered by the airlines at 3am, the owner drove all the way down to the main road to get them for us. We ate in the dining room twice and were very impressed with meals and service.

A Magical experience. We went for our 5 year wedding anniversary. The owners had a bottle of champagne waiting for us when we arrived. We stayed in a yurt and it was so luxurious. Lots of great hiking trails on the resort. Dinner at the lodge was delicious! Muffin delivery to your yurt in the morning was special for us. So relaxing and peaceful. There is no t. V. In the yurt and we took it a step further and decided to make it a no phone weekend. Best decision ever! We had to spend time and talk to each other :) We are usually campers instead of glampers but this was definitely worth the price tag. My only suggestion: someone at the front desk told me to dress up for dinner (my husband in khakis/ dress or dress pants for me) this did not end up being the case. We were a little more over dressed than most. It's definitely a more come as you are atmosphere. Jeans are fine. Check it out. So worth it.

We had a wonderful weekend here. It was so quiet and relaxing. The lodge was really cool. The restaurant and service were top notch. All of the staff were friendly. It was so much fun staying in a yurt. Every morning they brought you a picnic basket with muffins, OJ, and cream for coffee.

Caters perfectly to those who love comfort and serenity! Their menu has options for the most discerning guest! (having gluten free and vegan options which are delicious! ). Everybody will love it, including the choosiest of people!

This was a refreshing get-away from the usual beach trip friends/family try to get us to go on. The only down side is the mile-long, winding, dirt road to the resort. It's fine during the day, but it makes you want to be back before it gets dark which restricts your activities.
