I stayed there with my 2 kids and this place was the best motel on our whole trip. We love in California and traveled to 13 different states. The managsr is by far the coolest, laid back, friendliest guy. Already making plans to go back.

They just don't have it together at Simmer anymore. My fiance and I have been going there for years and up until the last 3 stays, it was amazing. It was very clean, the rooms were decorated so cute and meticulously. The staff was so friendly and helpful and hard working. They used to have housekeeper/s that were happy to be there and hard working and they did their jobs better than most any other motel housekeeper you'll find anywhere. Now it's hard to tell if they even have any at all. There has been a new GM each of our last 3 stays too. The lady that was running it in January was rude and unprofessional, and the man that runs it now sketches me out. A diamond turned to coal : (

Smells really musty, not very clean and does not appear to be maintained well. Spend your money elsewhere.

Absolutely the WORST customer service I’ve ever encountered, but only after leaving multiple messages and never even getting a phone call back. Then… to put the icing on the cake, they randomly CANCEL multiple rooms reserved for our out of town family coming in for graduation and didn’t even bother to notify all of them! The “customer service team” wouldn’t give any reason other than they had to close for an emergency. Which we later found out was simply they didn’t have any staff to work. Not sure why that matters, considering EVERYTHING from reservations to check-in and even getting the room number and door key code comes from customer service, NOT the on-site staff. Completely ridiculous. We have a wedding in a month and our guests will ABSOLUTELY NOT be staying here!

Room was dirty. Didnt even look like they changed the sheets. There was a stain on the bed that match what was spilt on the end table. I have stayed there multiple times but never changes though it would get better. I would spend the extra 5 bucks and stay across the street.

I’ve been sitting outside for an hour since 8:30 and the manager has refused to help me. The room is dirty. I was given a dirty room during a pandemic. See the pictures. I sent them to the manager with no response… she is not responding. I’m really disappointed I’ve been traveling all day, it’s been an emotional journey due to an ill family member and thought this would be a great place to rest up… but I guess I was wrong.

They have a Wizard of Oz themed room that is pretty cool and the regular rooms aren't bad either. Staff is very friendly too.

Great place to stay. Nice clean comfortable rooms will be staying there again.

Wonderful. Loved it n didn't want to leave. Beautifully decorated n plenty towels. Your own litl living room we were in 120. Microwave n fridge coffee n extra warm blankie. So cozy.

It's small and cozy! Absolutely lovely rooms and such friendly people. Not a big chain small hometown feeling!

Lovely motel. We have a 2 queen suite and it is very quaint and comfortable. Nicely decorated, bed comfortable. Boys enjoyed the pool. Manager very nice and told us if we needed anything just let her know. Quick check in and parking right at the door of our room. Would definitely stay again.

Clean and lovely! A pleasant surprise halfway through a 24 hr drive with my family. The proprietors clearly take great pride in their establishment. Our room had very nice new bedding and comfortable beds. Bathroom was spotless! We felt guilty leaving without making the bed — like staying at grandmas!

We stayed to see Wizard of Oz museum and it's the cutest, cleanest little motel I've ever seen! I'll be back here, great place, great people, great price, nice little town! Highly recommend!

I was forced to get a room due to my AC going out on a 98° day. I was pleasantly surprised by the Simmer motel! The room has old furnishings, but they were very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless; no mold or scum anywhere. The towels were better quality than many hotels I've stayed at and they had all the amenities you need. It was a happy accident coming here but in the future when family comes to town I'm booking them here.

Extended side gets my 2 star rating. Motel side I'd give a 5* rating. Nice clean and very well put together. Nice staff and fair prices.

This place is awesome! My husband and I drive a semi and are from Alabama. We got stuck over the weekend waiting on a load for Monday and found this little charm online. We didn't make a mistake staying here! The people were super friendly from the first phone call to checking in. The room was set up like a ole timey garage, (they have all sorts of room decorated to differently) which my hubby loved! They even welcomed my weenie dog. The bed was great and pillows comfy. The room was clean. The cleaning ladies were very nice. In the evening the owners light the barbq and invite you over to socialize which is nice as well. It isn't like the typical boring hotel rooms… if you're looking for some thing a bit different, comfortable and clean, stop in at the Simmer Hotel!

Absolutely one of my favorite places to stay. The rooms are clean. The staff are friendly. Very affordable. The owner will go out of her way to make you comfortable. You can sleep well here. Great Owners!

My husband was working in the area. I was just going to get a single room but we are used to a king size bed at home so I asked for a king. Turns out the honeymoon suite had a king and was available so we took that. It was lovely. Canopy bed and Jacuzzi tub and very clean. Since its on the end I was able to stake my dog out in the grass and watch him from the chair they provide to sit outside your room. The bed was comfortable, the blanket was fresh out of the dryer and the rate was so reasonable. We will definitely be back.

Clean, neat, rather eclectic room decor Ours was shabby chic but tasteful and comfortable. Great prices, quiet. Comfortable beds. Would stay here again.

This is my second time having a extended stay here and it is very nice and very reasonably priced the owners and managers are great people I would recommend it to anyone.

5* This motel is cleaner and better maintained than so-called 5 star motels. And then at a reasonable price. Thank you. About us: Vintage travelers in a vintage trailer that love stargazing and solitude away from the maddening crowds. Eating only at "mom and pop" establishments which are getting harder and harder to find.

I stayed at Simmer for a couple nights for my honeymoon. The prices were fair, the room was comfy and clean, and the staff was friendly and easy to talk to. I recommend it to anyone in the area with the caveat of no breakfast included, which wasn't an issue for me.

Great little American family owned and operated motel in a quaint town. Single rooms, suites, double rooms with full kitchens, even apartments! Excellent options for our group. We spent nearly a month here, along with several members of our crew. The first thing I noted was the attention to detail in the cleanliness of the room. NO dust on lightbulbs or fans, the window sills were very clean and the curtains were updated and clean. I am all about a CLEAN room and this place passed my test with flying colors. The owners and staff were MOST accommodating, helpful and friendly. Since we were an 'extended stay', they offered any additional appliances we may need, including a larger refrigerator, crock pots, etc. There were two beds in our suite and we only required one — but I needed space to set up an office. They were great about letting us take down the bed and stored it for the duration of our stay. Not the most updated bedroom furniture, but what they did have was very clean, inside and out. There is a laundry room here and it is cheaper than the local laundromat. Quarters for that are available in the office. For little ones, there is an amply equipped playground to get them out in the fresh air. There's an outdoor pool but it was already closed for the season when we arrived. Overall, this is one place that I highly recommend and will stay again if the opportunity arises.

This is a very clean but basic motel. If you enjoy a good old fashioned motor lodge, this is the place for you. It's far from the cookie cutter budget motel you will get elsewhere for this price. The service is quite personal with the owners on site. I certainly plan to stay here again.

We loved our stay here. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the room was immaculate. It far exceeded my expectations! I wished we had known what a great place this is before now! From now on this will definitely be our go-to place to stay when we are in Manhattan visiting family.

No doubt, this is not the fanciest place you're going to stay in your life. But it is very clean, very comfortable, and very affordable. What a tremendous asset for a small town like Wamego. Did not have a single complaint during our two night stay this past weekend. Definitely plan on coming back and recommending it to our friends.

My husband and I stayed at the Simmer Motel in Wamego, KS years ago and enjoyed our stay. We were privileged to stay here again this week. Personality Plus! Most motels are the same in that they are pretty much the same in decor. NOT this motel! Every room has a different theme and the minute you walk in the room you feel like you are visiting a friends home. Thank you Mr. And Mrs. Simmer for the love and care that you have put into the restoration of your motel. I recommend this motel to everyone who passes this way or if you just want to experience a fun place to stay.

The owners and staff are beyond accommodating! Each room is decorated uniquely and is kept extremely clean! I would recommend the Simmer Motel to everyone!

Amazing owners. Small hometown feel, rooms are clean and comfortable. Love this place and will come back again! Dont waste your money on the chain hotels. Give these folks a chance to show you what they offer. They work hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you for having us this weekend! Very nice and cozy motel in lovely Wamego. I stayed for 5 days several years ago and enjoyed my visit. The lady at the front desk was very nice but I felt VERY sorry for the sick cat resting on the counter. (I hope he or she got better. ) I think coffee was served in the morning in the office. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Cleaning staff was nice. The price for the room was very fair and MUCH MORE reasonable than nearby Manhattan, especially for football weekend when KSU was at home and the motels in Manhattan were VERY high in rates! I highly recommend this motel when you are in Wamego.

A wonderful small motel in a small Kansas town! Staff was amazing and cleanliness was a shown rule. The honeymoon room has a jacuzzi tub and NOT COSTLY AT ALL.

Awesome motel! Every room is decorated different and the staff are very courteous! The owner is very nice and big hearted! If you come to Boom Town don't stay at the usual corporate chains… This is the place to go!

My husband stayed here for several days while working on a job. I was able to join him over the weekend… Very workable and helpful! Room is older style, but clean and comfortable! Tastefully remodeled… A great place to stay. Very reasonably priced! We'll be back! :)

The motel was quaint and homey. The staff were some of the most friendly and caring hosts I have ever engaged with. They were there for me at any hour of the day if needed and tried to accommodate my group and I to the best of their ability. I will definitely come back. If your visiting this is the pla2ve to stay you will not be sorry.

It was clean, everything worked-aka the air conditioner-and the bed was the most comfortable bed ever! Would recommend and if I am ever that way again will definitely be staying there!

This is absolutely THE Best Motel I have ever stayed at… decorated in a down to earth old western trail yet modernized and extremely clean with excellent 24/7 customer service. I will definitely be returning as this is the perfect stopping point not too far off Interstate 70 the gateway from East to West or West to East in a town where you can visit the Wizard of OZ Museum! We stayed here recently, and I was beyond impressed! My husband is a truck driver, and we stay in motels frequently. I hate the hit and miss of the big chains, sometimes they are clean, many times they are scary, filthy and overpriced. This place is CLEAN, rooms are tastefully decorated with themes and antiques, did I mention its unbelievably CLEAN? I can't stress this enough, its like you would keep your home kinda clean. And the price is right! Owners are very friendly, nice, helpful, and they are doing a great job of making this place one you'd want to stay in again and again. Our room had 2 huge overstuffed chairs, along with everything else a guest could possibly need…. What a great place. I truly hope we get to travel through this area again, this will be the place we head back too. Thank you Simmer, you are doing a GREAT job.

Arrived to a quaint drive up motel, looked nice, family friendly, that's what we like. The guy at the desk wasn't really pleasant and was not interested in talking about AAA discounts eventhough huge sign out front for AAA. Arrived in the room to get hit with terrible cigarette smell. Called to find out if he had a nonsmoking room (as requested) and he said no, they don't have non smoking rooms. The other hotel was full, so I opened the windows, door, kicked on the heater, the exhaust fan hoping to get the room livable for the night. That's how we slept, open windows and heater on. Even with that, our clothes smelled like we spent the night at a bar the next day. It's a shame really, if it had been a non smoking room, I'd give them 4 stars! No hair dryer and SMOKE were the two negatives. The smoke was really a huge issue because we are both allergic. Suffered through and would stay there again only if they had a non smoking room available, And would suggest adding a hair dryer (with all the other things in the room it wouldn't be that much to add them and it's expected these days).

We travel all over US, my husband is a boilermaker working in this area. Simmer has been our home away from home. This is the cleanest, friendliest, own by locals and so comfortable room. They spend a lot of time cleaning and taking care of your needs or just leave you alone. I can even go barefooted, never done for me in anyother motel that us working American can afford. Thanks Simmer for all you do we are going on our 3rd wk here, we love the town too. We'll be back.
