It’s not a ordinary hotel. Over 100 years old means it squeaks, pops, rattles, and moves every time you take a step in the room. But, that’s what makes it awesome. A real peace of history. I took a bath in an old iron tub! I will be coming back.

Rooms are the perfect size for people heading into the park all day. Service is great with 24 hr coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Rooms are kept clean with great room service.

Two friends and I stayed here on our way through town and loved it! Great location and very comfortable and clean, with so many thoughtful and interesting touches. We would definitely stay again.

This is a five star review for a not-five star hotel — West Yellowstone does not offer a lot of high-end or national chain options, instead having a plethora of old family run establishments. For an independent and rather unique place (quite the array of rooms and lodging offerings), our family of four (2 parents, a 20 year old and a 16 year old) were very happy with the Historic Madison Hotel for our one night stay. Again, we did not have high expectations but the room was clean, the air conditioner worked well, the staff was friendly and helpful, and their was free coffee, hot chocolate, juices available. The ten dollar vouchers for the small restaurant next door came close to covering each of our breakfasts. The only nuisance is that the vouchers said they required you have a key from the hotel to be used which meant they needed to be used by 11:00am. (I am sure if you asked the staff at the hotel for late check out or the use of a key for a very late breakfast, they would make accommodations for you but we did not need to. ) Again, the Historic Madison Hotel is not going to blow you away with facilities but it does a fine job with what is has to offer.

Really nice and quaint rooms. Ours had been recently remodeled so it had modern accommodations and used the limited space very well. There is no in house breakfast, but you get a coupon to a really good diner type place next door that is definitely worth it.

We spent 5 nights here to enjoy Yellowstone and we enjoyed the stay. Our room was rustic, very clean and cozy and more than met our needs. Everyone working here, including the owner, was friendly, helpful, and cheerful. We will certainly choose the Madison when we return to the area!

What a lovely gem set amid of all the bog standard chain hotels. This charming inn is locally owned and there is an obvious pride in the place taken by all the staff. Our room was small but thought and effort had been put into the decor. The owner was keen to show us other rooms he was refurbishing and we were made to feel very welcome the moment we stepped across the threshold. An additional bonus is that guests are given a ten percent discount in the large hotel gift shop as well as a ten dollar voucher for a meal in the next door restaurant. I highly recommend this hotel for those who might want to stay in a place that is a bit different,.

This facility seems to be more hostel than hotel. We paid a lot for our stay early in May. I shudder to think what July is like. There is no sound deadening in the old part; you can hear someone breathing 2 rooms away. To be fair, I want to thank the clerk who changed our room to the newer motel style room. It was for good reason and appreciated. This room was musty at best, if not moldy. I shall not return.

Cute, Historic to be sure. The rooms are nice, not huge but do the trick. Really close to Yellowstone and walking to distance to shops, restaurants, and the IMAX theater. Only downside, beds are a little hard. Otherwise, great hotel, friendly staff, and good location.

Historic… nice room. Very good service with breakfast… good a bit expensive but the same thing elsewhere in the city.

Spent here 3 nights with my boyfriend. Great romantic wooden room. The staff was very responsive and friendly. There is a free hot drinks machine which is awesome. There is only a bathtub in the bathroom which is a small downside. There are shared showers though which are very clean. Overall great experience.

Did 1 night in a shared bedroom at The Madison hotel in May. The room & bed was clean and the staff was friendly. Lodging is obviously very limited in this area so I was very satisfied with the cost/value of the accommodations. You are literally a 90 second drive to the West entrance of the park so you really can't beat that either. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for cost-friendly lodging in the area.

The rooms were nice and clean. Beds were comfortable. The owners were very pleasant and helpful, ready to answer any questions. They were very informative about the area. The gift shop was great, best place to purchase bear spray. Much less then anywhere else we checked. Would definitely go back again!

Superb place! I stayed for a night in their budget 'hostel' type room, sharing the room with two others. The amenities are top class. The bed linen was clean and the bed very comfortable. The only issue is that there are only two bathrooms and toilets for around 12-14 rooms on the corridor. Downstairs, there is a complimentary coffee station as well as a refrigerator to store food. They have a well stocked gift shop connected to the hotel. The staff are very courteous and friendly. The ambiance is very soothing, typical of an old town — very rustic and welcoming.
