Easy check in and check out. Clean comfortable rooms and fair price. Was perfect for an unsuspected overnight in Savannah when mom had to stay in Candler for the evening.

A decent experience, but didn’t have everything available for their complimentary breakfast. No orange juice at 8am (I’m a Floridian. I need my oj man). The appliances were fairly outdated (but worked) including the television picture quality. But that’s no big deal if you don’t care that Chip and Joanna look like they recorded onto an 80s VHS tape. The coffee maker was dirty, the kind of dirty you’re like “Meh. I still need my coffee”. But still. The heater filter needed to be cleaned though which is kind of a good idea (I have asthma, so ya feel? ) There were also missing light bulbs (good thing I brought my kerosene lantern) and the bathroom had a weird random blue wall. The cleanliness was mediocre. We had to clean the toilet. Ew. Good motel for the price but honestly I prefer Best Western. And non-poopy toilets.

Not too expensive, the comfort is there and it's clean. A small pool. For a step on a trip it's perfect.

Good service. Good waiters. Fast service. Can't complain!

It get's a 2 star only because the rooms were clean. The staff are rude. We asked for pool towels and were told to use the room towels. So no one could even shower after. The rooms were really clean either then that. The pool was nice. The vending machines did not work.

Friendly. Arrived at 2am and lady at front very pleasant. Room was clean and bed was very comfy after a long day and drive.

Clean, efficent and good location. Bring adapter for phone charger. Other than that, lodging prices are decent though mine were discount online price.

Took another impromptu trip to Savannah! We stayed at our Favorite Hotel. This time we stayed in one of the last rooms to be undated. They have attempted to modernize it! I had 2 MINOR complaints. The floor in the bathroom had some kind of sticky residue and the air conditioner needed to be cleaned. But for the money — a nice place to stay! The people went out of their way to be helpful and courteous! Can't wait until our next stay!

At Howard Johnson the staff was very inviting and helpful during our stay. The cleanliness was very good.

Paying $70.00 per night which was a discounted rate, caused great disappointment after getting to the hotel. The room left much to be desired. Very, very basic. Two bars of soap for a double room, one in bathroom, one on sink. Room didn't smell clean or fresh. They have roaches. Floors are not carpeted, but haven't been mopped in a while, white socks were dirty after walking on floor for a short period of time. They can update the rooms and make them more inviting. But the front desk clerks were very friendly and kind.

The room was NOT what I expected. The decor is terrible. Nothing matches. The floors are bare and it'svery dated. If it was 1999 maybe it would be up to pat but not 2018. The breakfast was not good. Sausage was under cooked and the juice did not taste right. The TV is poor quality many of the stations were unclear. The room did not smell fresh. I should have read th e reviews before booking but I will be sure to do so next visit.

Not horrible. Price was better than most. Room was clean.

Love this place, clean friendly, and great breakfast. Best motel I have been to in a while. Thank you guys we will be back in the summer.

DO NOT STAY HERE! If it was possible to give them no stars I would! I came to Savannah from Kentucky to see my dying grandmother and booked a room at the Howard Johnson, at first glance it looks like a relatively nice hotel but when you get inside the room, not so much. We had been driving for 12 hours and went inside, the room was freezing cold so we immidiately turned up the heat. As we were trying to get ready for bed we pulled out the blankets and pillows (after the room was warmed up) and found a bed bug crawling on the pillow, no sooner than that there was one crawling at the bottom of the bed also. I went straight to the front desk and demanded my money back or to be moved to a different room and the lady upfront told me absolutely not and that I would need to speak with management in the morning. We packed up our things and left, we went back that following morning and spoke to Alhi or however you spell it and he was probably one of the rudest people I have ever encountered in my life. We explained the situation to him and he asked us to go to the room to show him so we did. Upon arrival to the room you could tell that housekeeping had already been in there and it wasn't even check out time yet. Everything was gone out of the room except the pillow with the dead bed bug as well as the one at the bottom of the bed and he told us that those were just blood stains and that they were not from bed bugs lol!

Older motel but kept up really good. Very clean, exceptional housekeeping, manager really nice and understanding, all staff are really helpful and kind. Breakfast is good and plentiful.

At check in the guy behind the counter only said two words to me. When I entered my room I was over taken with a musty smell. On top of that the heater/a. C. Had not been cleaned in a long time as there was a thick layer of dust on the filters. The fan on the heater made funky noises. The bed was not to bad. The sheets where clean. The over all cleanliness of the room was below par. There was paint splatter all over the coffee maker. The wood floor was sticky. I will not be returning to this hotel.

Rude Customer service! Very old and out of date. Nothing like the picture!

We had to ask for clean towels because the 2 of the towels hanging in our room were stained. The rest of the stay was fine.

After bad experiences at Econo Lodge on the other street side we stayed three nights at Howard Johnson. Everything was fine: friendly stuff, clean and good maintained room.

Not a bad hotel. Beds were good enough. I do think that for almost $100 it would not have a greasy tile floor. I walked around in my shoes!

Clean room. Friendly competent staff. Nice pool. Reasonable price. A great night sleep.

Hotel was clean and tidy. Management at from desk was very rude when I asked for a little extra time to get my things together. She stood in the doorway and threatened to call the police on the guest. Would not even allow guest to close the door in order to get dressed. She held the door open while the guest attempted to get dresses w/ house keeping standing outside of the door w/ her looking in. Very rude. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting as long as she is working at the front desk. She definitely requires some kind of compassion training.

Booked this hotel for a great deal before reading any reviews. To be honest I was really nervous after reading the reviews on here and almost cancelled! Glad I didn't, though, because the room was clean (and we did a very thorough check for bugs), the beds were fine, and everything worked in our room. I agree with the other reviewers about the biscuits being hard as a rock, but other than that our stay was enjoyable. Traveled with three kiddos under the age of 8 and we were satisfied.

Very nice front desk staff, clean rooms, a really very clean pool and an American-sweet breakfast. Can I recommend. The surrounding area is also very well maintained.

Got two rooms pretty gross sticky floor, bathroom disgusting, breakfast fair, nice staff … smelly. Would not stay again… thank goodness it was just a pitstop in and out. Price was good but should have stayed at the many surrounding hotels for a little more… couldn't wait to sleep and leave!

STOP! DO NOT stay here with out checking your room! Stayed in room 121, there was what looked like mildew on the bathroom ceiling. I literally cried, because there were no other vacancies. Just like the other reviews said the room wasn't clean. I felt like I was in a gas station bathroom. The desk was sticky. There were holes, big holes in the blankets. The pool had clumps of hair in it, the water was so dark you couldn't see to the bottom in the shallow in. Just over all dirty. I never wanted to be home more. I couldn't wait until morning. I have pictures of all the items I listed. I will never stay at a Howard Johnson again. I asked for a refund, they only offered to change my room. It's so gross! I will always inspect a room before we head to the beach. Completely unacceptable! Photos have been uploaded to their Facebook page.

My husband, my 7 yr old & myself were driving from Frederick md. We were very tired & decided to stay the night & continue our drive in the morning. For the most part it was clean but smelled damp & the sheets had holes. We thought we were going to get a good night sleep but right before 8 am construction was happening right outside our door. The rooms right next to us were being worked on. We had no choice but to get up & leave. We were not told construction was going on. Not happy customers.

Employees were pleasant. Remodeling and worn out appearance. Bathroom not clean. Refrigerator freezer in room needs defrosted. Fight in next room woke me up at 3:45 when a person was thrown into wall. Come to think about it one of the wall lights was gone in my room. Breakfast was very poor, got a weak cup of coffee and left. I will not recommend this hotel.

Clean and quiet. No frills but that is expected in this price range. My only complaint is they came in and cleaned the room while the do not disturb sign was on the door.

Hotel is outdated, the bathtub was nasty and rusty… room had a musty smell. Microwave was nasty… bed linen was old fashion… I will never stay there again… They need to close down or remodel.

For a 2-star hotel, the room was in good shape, very little noise could be heard from other guests, the bed was comfortable. Water pressure for the shower was sub-standard.

-Most rooms have uncomfortable beds -Air conditioning in room 218 doesn't work -very very rude manager her name is Rita -I have a recorded phone call of the entire conversation The first week I stayed my room had hard uncomfortable beds, so I asked to change to another room, with the same rate per night with newer, more comfortable beds, I know there was better beds due to visiting a co-worker also staying at this hotel and his beds were much more comfortable than the beds in my room, then two weeks later I called to make a complaint about the air conditioning I'm the room (room 218) not working on a Tuesday night, and couldn't reach the manager and was told to call back to reach her, her name is Rita, upon receiving my phone call on Thursday she was very rude when I asked about them charging my card twice for the room, and then was VERY RUDE and condescending/demeaning when I asked about receiving some sort of credit for having a room with broken air conditioning, apparently, my roommate wrote a bad review for the hotel, and she began to get mad at me about a review I didn't write, needless to say if you have any complaints l, don't bother asking to speak to manager (Rita) she's cares nothing about customer satisfaction.

We didn't sent a great amount of time at the hotel. But our brief moments with the staff were quite pleasant. And I just so happened to leave my credit card by accident at the front desk. One of the staff safely placed it to the side and left me a note explaining were my card was. The only downer was that the bathroom warmer light was just a normal light. But overall, pleasant visit.

Worst stay in a hotel ever. They had mold in the bathroom. The guest above me and next to me were loud as hell. I called the front desk about it and they were still loud. The so called breakfast was gross. When I first got there, the employees were outside yelling at a guy walking down the street and only walked back in after I walked inside.

I have stayed here multiples times and none of my stays were ever "great". I realize the you get what you pay for, but this is ridiculous. The front desk clerks are very short and tend to talk to me like I'm a moron and I don't appreciate you always telling me what you can't do, every other hotel can why can't you? My first stay the safe started beeping in the middle of the night and the only thing the clerk could do was shrug and say sorry. The fact that I have to ask to move rooms is stupid, common sense. I really don't enjoy you laughing off my concerns. Why are there cigarette holes in my blanket? (Apparently it's a standard feature in all rooms according to the clerk) I'm missing a light switch, I'm missing a light bulb, etc… I also don't think 3/4 of the staff actually knows how to make a key card (friendly advice: all key card machines CAN make copies. You don't need to constantly make new keys). I'm not one to write reviews but I work in hotels and I'm constantly staying in hotels. I could let some things pass if there was a shred of proper hotel etiquette here, but alas there is not and I refuse to be treated subpar.

DONT STAY HERE! Room 202 and 213 have Roaches! We arrived on 1-7-16 the outside of the building dosent look so bad but rooms are outdated "you get what you pay for on that" but asoon as we got to room 202 I sat my phone on the small table by the door checking out the room we immediately noticed something crawling on the wooden table an before we could kill it 3 more came out! We went straight to the front desk with pictures for her to only offer us another room I wouldnt even take my stuff out of the car went into room 213 just to look an sure enough they were in the floor beside the TV stand I came back down to tell the lady at the desk and before anything was said she said " that one to we just sprayed for them they must of run to the clean rooms" OMG. We got a full refund and came to the holiday Inn witch is much cleaner. I wish I could post pictures of the bugs they were everywhere. Pay the extra for a nice clean room it's worth it.

Fantastic stay, beautiful king bed great sleep good cost and clean. Will stay here again.

Roaches, TV didn't work and told to come to the lobby to watch the ball game. Have to wait till the next day for management to fix the TV. Also was refused a plastic fork after staying here 16 days in the past month! Go elsewhere!

We stayed in room 116 on the bottom floor. At approximately 11:00 pm we discovered BED BUGS in BOTH beds. I immediately went to the front desk and informed the clerk working whom immediately issued us a refund for both nights we had reserved. Although the rooms were nice & the beds were very comfy we were NOT staying there with BUGS!

Great size rooms for the price. Beds were great and comfortable along with the room being spacious. Maid service was good too. Only negatives was the bland breakfast as they don't offer many options and the showers in bathroom were average. Overall, a very hotel for the price and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit Savannah.

Clean rooms and pretty decent for the price. However, the covers were pretty thin and it was very cold! Wish they had a thicker blanket or cover.

The floors were very dirty, the bed was very uncomfortable and the covers was dirty. They have very thin walls also I wouldn't recommend anyone book a room with this place.
