Great place to visit and have a bite.

Had a wonderful experience at the resort. We spent three nights there with some friends. We rode bikes, played croquet, swam, walked and did the tram tour. We ate breakfast in the dining room, relaxed in the bar area and on the porches. We had a queen room which was very small…next time will book a bigger room. We had such a great time. We will be back!

We loved the resort. The Wharf had good food and our dining experience in the dining room was just as good. Service was great everywhere we went. Everybody was so nice and hospitable. We will definitely be back!

Been waiting a long time to come here. Upon arrival it’s beautiful and the grounds and views are gorgeous. During our stay very disappointing no valet at this time, dining rooms closed at this time, concierge unfriendly and uninformative, shop guy rude. Gave us wrong room small with queen (no way). Then tried charge us for bigger. The wharf was HORRIBLE and hostess very rude (music and views good). No service no help can’t sit! Basically there are 20 year olds as staff and they have no help now SORRY we are understaff and have no one to work is the answer to everything! I am so tired of this answer especially when your spending big money! How can you run a resort with no restaurant and no help but charge the same full price On top of noisy rooms etc. Very disappointing experience at this time! Would not return.

Nice place except my key fab wouldn't ever open the gate going down to my my room after 4 complaints and visits to office. They kept telling me it might be a mechanical error I'm like well I'm paying $300 a night so you might want to fix that mechanical error so that I can get to my room. I paid $50 for shrimp and grits at the Wharf and they left the tails on the shrimp and the Grits we're not good and it took two and a half hours to eat. Me and a buddy whenever to the Westin at 9 cuz we were starving cuz everywhere else was closed got two pork chops 50 bucks a piece with a couple of old potatoes and they over-salted the pork chops bad. It's called "The Cox Curse"

I wish I could recommend the hotel without reservation. But it has changed. Upon entering it is still charming. The Grand Dining Room is very under utilized. There is no lunch nor evening service. Such a shock. The Sunday brunch, which we always took guests to, is no longer. Hard to call this a resort without the full dining experience. So, if all you want is a comfortable bed, here it is. That is certainly important, but for a luxurious night, I do not think so. Hopefully the management will soon identify what part of the experience can be improved. Pls start with dining.

We had a wonderful time staying at the resort. The grounds and views are amazing.
The hotel is struggling a bit with the supply chain issues and labor shortages and despite that I still highly recommend this place.

Horrible experience with room. People smoking on glassed in porch so I couldn't enjoy my views on the porch. Notified front desk and they really. Didn't do anything about it. The smoking continued from friday evening when I got there until Sunday morning. This is supposed to be a No smoking. Hotel. Also there was a roach in my refrigerater. Management said they would reverse the charges and didnt. For the price I paid for that room I could be gone to the cloister for a real 5 star room. This visit was motel 6.

First time visiting and it definitely won’t be our last. Service was outstanding from Susan at the Wharf to Johnette at the bar. Shoutout to José for being a stellar trolley driver. I wish I had all the names of those who assisted us during our stay but every employee enjoyed giving us 5-Star service. We loved our stay and thoroughly enjoyed the history and character this place embodied. Even the other guests we interacted with were a pleasure to be around. All in all, it seems when you come to Jekyll everything is Sans Souci (without care, without worry). Everyone is here to have a good time, which is what a weekend getaway should be.

Beautiful compound, nice place to getaway for a weekend, lots of biking everywhere and family friendly. I’m glad I reserved dinner at the Wharf, the place was packed early. Enjoyed the excellent grilled salmon, the staff and service was excellent.
The Driftwood Beach is awesome for photo ops, the beach (water) brackish though, several swimming, but I’m used to the blue water. 😎

The Jekyll Island Resort is beyond breathtaking. The understated elegance st every turn is such a welcomed indulgence. Things like covid 19, lockdown etc seem far away. Don’t misunderstand me The Jekyll Island Club Resort is on top of all mandates. They simply carry them out with grace.
Being here is like staying at your favorite aunts home… surprises and treasures abound.
We’ll be back.

I love the large live oak trees, and cozy the rooms are. One of my favorite places to visit. Staff are very Helpful and accommodating.

We had another wonderful experience here for Jennifer & Nathan’s Wedding shower. Pantry food was unbelievable. All our guest loved it and so did we. I can’t say enough about how friendly all the staff at this hotel is and they were all wearing their masks and we felt very comfortable with our stay and event for Georgia family. We have stayed here multiple times and our experiences just get better and better. The staff is always so helpful and friendly and we love the activities to do around the the resort and island! Looking forward to our next visit!

Jekyll Island Club is a fascinating and educational step into history. The club hotel is full of mementos of days gone by. The beautiful grounds perfectly landscaped and the wharf restaurant makes for a lovely dinner on the river experience. Highly recommended.

I have stayed at this hotel with my young daughter three times. The accommodations are lovely and the island is beautiful. The shuttle makes getting around easy and bike rentals work great for that too!

Friendly, helpful staff. Every detail has been thought of to make your stay enjoyable. Club is Rich with history. All you have to do is step outside your door to be whisk away into yesteryear. If you want to experience the Titanic without the sinking — This is your place.

Classic old style resort hotel. Spectacularly beautiful. Not particularly expensive. Wonderful service. Food decent, traditional.

Where to start. If you love historical places then look no further as the entire resort is its own slice of Americana. The rooms may not be overly large and a bit pricey cut with so much to do and see within a 5 minute walk of the main hotel building and anywhere you look is a gorgeous view framed by century old oak trees and Spanish moss. Seriously, walking down the main spiral staircase down to the main dining room leaves me feeling like I just stepped into the movie. The walls seem to ooze history transporting you back to the turn of the 20th century as you walk through the hallways. The staff is friendly and does their best to accommodate any potentials needs during your stay. Great place for weddings too. However, I must add that, as others have stated in their reviews, there are drawbacks to historical hotels like this so if you are hoping for a shiny state of the art luxury hotel, you will more than likely be disappointed. I've stayed here more than 20 times over the years and I've never had any complaints other than a couple times I had forgotten toiletries or a slow check-in.

Great hotel and the staff was kind and helpful. The turtle sanctuary was amazing but the hotel lacks more dinner and lunch services. The breakfast was good. Also the compound is beautiful and the history is nice.

We typically stay on St. Simons Island but had been wanting to visit Jekyll. The Club Resort was an excellent introduction. Historical and grand, we felt as though we were in the 1920’s. We stayed in the Sans Souci lodge and enjoyed the porch and rocking chairs. The pool was great and relaxing and the amenities were adequate. We ate once on the property at the Wharf Restaurant but saw much of the food coming from the Pool house. It all looks amazing! We will be back!

Beautiful place, wonderful staff. We really enjoyed our time at the resort. However, our room was too cramped for a family of four. Other rooms were more spacious, and would have better accommodated us.

OH MY GOODNESS! Known as the first and only resort in Jekyll Island it has so much history packed into it! Mind blowing views and the property its self is extraordinary! Even if you dont stay I insist that you visit! The resort has a coffee shop and gift shop with some amazing finds! I promise once you arrive you will wish you lived at Jekyll Island Club Resort!

Such a great stay. Every single staff member was excellent. Valet service was quick and super friendly, front staff was very helpful and the dining staff were super attentive to our table. Room was beautiful and the bed was super comfortable. We will be staying here every time we visit from now on.

Went with family for dinner/drinks. Staff was friendly, food was delicious, but the best part of the experience was easily the scenery. The hotel looks gorgeous inside and outside, and the surrounding area is very scenic. If you visit Jekyll island, you have to go to the Jekyll Island Club Resort at some point.

Nice, historical resort. Room was nice, but requesting extra coffee pods and creamer packets while at front desk turned into calling 4 hours later to finally get it and they tried to charge it to me as room service and a pot of coffee! Bell guys seemed to be more interested in talking about sports than greeting guests too.

We visit the Inn regularly when here for a holiday. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. If you're on Jekyll, you definitely need to stop by. At least grab a coffee or cool one from the cafe (highly recommended) and sit on the porch and enjoy the beauty of the Inn and the breeze!

If you are looking for a resort to visit that combines an experience that is not only full of grandeur and luxury but is also relaxing, and soothingly energizing as well, then you should stay at the Jekyll Island Club Resort. Located on Jekyll Island, Georgia, and listed on the register as one of the Historic Hotels of America by the National Trust for Historic Preservation for Restoration in 1986, this historic hotel was originally constructed in 1887. I just think this place is so enchanting and magical. The resort is spotless and immaculate. The rooms are well appointed and have a vintage feel with all the quaint furnishings. And, there are lush tree-lined grounds dripping in Spanish moss which provide a scenic backdrop and transport one back in time to the 1800's. Now for fun… activities abound. You can do a lot of things such as: go swimming; workout in their fitness room; and go biking along trails which take you past a marsh, on a boardwalk, over a bridge, to a park, a pier, along the beach, and past numerous shops as well. If you want to kick it up a notch, you can indulge in: taking a dolphin tour; a horse drawn carriage ride; or horseback ride along the beach. The restaurants are excellent here, too. I ate at both the upscale Grand Dining Room and the casual Wharf Restaurant. Both places offer delicious food that is beautifully presented and excellently prepared in a totally unrushed atmosphere.

This place is beautiful! Lots of history and things to do close to the hotel. We played golf everyday, great courses. The dining room for dinner was wonderful. Would definitely come back again.

Wedding venue without equal. Enjoyed it all immensely. Staff and facilities first rate all around.

Elegant & smelly The property is nice & has some charm, but also some problems. Although the odour is better, it is still foul. All the water stinks of rotten eggs, so it is like showering in sewer water. They provide an endless number of water bottles, but you have to run the tap sometimes. The staff are nice, but our meeting could not get properly serviced — lukewarm coffee & tea. The breakfast buffet was ok, but mediocre at best. Overall, a little shabby. Would not return.

Have visitied the resort several times, most recently for the Sunday brunch event. It's a little pricey for a brunch buffet, though the spread was excellent and included smoked salmon, caviar and fresh crab among other faire. The club hotel has a great vintage atmosphere, and staff were friendly and attentive. Certainly a good experience and one I hope to repeat before too long.

I was there for a business meeting. I stayed in room 2219 of the main building and it was beautiful! All the rooms are somewhat different on the floor though. The two down the the hall (2220 & 2221) are nice as well. I heard that the rooms in the San Loichi (I'm not sure if I'm spelling this right) are REALLY nice as well. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL and I ate at two places outside of the establishment, The Wharf and The Driftwood restaurants. Both are great spots. The resort does a GREAT job on food as well so any of those restaurants are great to eat at. Enjoy your stay!

Unfortunately not so good in terms of food from their main dining room. Very dissapointed with our diner.
I ordered a medium term burger that came terribly over cooked, burnt outside and totally dry inside.
My partner ordered a Caesar salad, which it was half of uncut lettuce head (you actually have to chop the lettuce yourself) and hardly any dressing.

Great old hotel. Lots of stairs but that's expected with a place like this. Be cautious of special. We did the treasure hunter one for 10$ more then the lowest rate and it ended up not having any extras the lower prices offer had. They did not even have much info on the event so not sure why they offered that package.

The staff was friendly. Our room was nice and small, but quaint. Our queen bed was comfortable. During our stay we felt as if we were in the era of the 1900's. Men in suits, women in dresses complete with furs out playing croquet. The lawns were manicured nicely. Grant, our valet/bell hop was awesome in his customer service.
The history is portrayed very well throughout the island.
Overall, the resort needs a little bit more attention to standard dress code so guests don't feel out of place.
We highly recommend The Wharf Restaurant. Best food on the island and we'll worth the price.

The hotel is historic and beautifully maintained. I stayed in the annex building and my room had two beds and was spacious. I was close to the restaurant, The Pantry, which had good food. The staff there was friendly. The restaurants close around 10 or 11 and room service does too, and there are no vending machines on the property… so if you want late night snacks you will have to go off the property to the Flash Foods which is open 24/7 and about a 3 to 4 min drive away. Overall, it's a beautiful place to stay with a great staff.

Part of Historic Hotels of America — you feel the history. Gorgeous grounds… wonder around all the historic homes… Goodyear family living beside the JP Morgans… all the houses are impeccably restored. Unspoiled. Drive the island. Don't miss the bar in the main lodge or the wharf bar for sunset. Sans Souci — 3rd floor rooms with balconies are fantastic. Huge rooms! I got a hot tub and a working fireplace on a cold winter night with howling winds — felt like I was thrown back in time.

We loved very to walk around here and walk in the history, the buildings are all very beautiful and full of great history. They have done a great job restoring so many of the buildings. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We were there at Christmas and loved the decorations. Be sure and do one of the tours.

Love, love it! Married here at Faith Chapel over 41 years ago, and have stayed here at the Club each year since. Beautiful rooms, epic service, world class food. Just pray the new owners don't lower the standards.

Took the family to the Christmas Eve Sunday brunch today, everything was perfect, all the food/dessert was delicious! All the staff were courteous, pleasant and efficient. The gentleman at the omelette station was great. Special thanks to our server Tiffany, she was so wonderful and took good care of us.

Very Poor customer service! Booked a room with breakfast for 2 included. The buffet options and presentation were not appealing to us… which we were ok with it. My husband and I had a cup of coffee only. My 8 year old daughter was the only one who ate at the buffet. The server charged us for our child breakfast. When asked if she could use one of our unused vouchers for her breakfast the answer was NO. Why not? The server referred me to the front desk. When checking out at the front desk, the receptionist referred me back to the restaurant. It would be helpful to have staff with common sense, autonomy and good customer service skills to make sure guests are taken care instead of “passing the bucket”.

The hotel was so full of history! Beautifully restored to the elequence of it's original design. We slept in a gorgeous suite. The hotel featured three restaurants we ate breakfast in the grand ballroom and it definitely was Grand! Super staff and extremely relaxing experience!

Amazing and friendly staff. They're very attentive to guest and locals. Beautiful views and a quiet getaway for the weekend of a family trip. There is a docked restaurant (The Warf) that is a seafood and fresh food lovers dream.

Excellent accommodations. Wonderful grounds. Really lovely island. Make sure to go to the sea turtle center. One critique is that everything on Jekyll island is expensive, but otherwise we had a wonderful time.

Sunday Brunch was a wonderful birthday celebration. Lavish buffet including shellfish, custom made omelettes, carved prime rib, breakfast & luncheon dishes, salad bar, dessert bar, and an array of cheeses, smoked meats, and antipasti. Beverages and complimentary Champagne included, all at s price much less than a similar spread in a large city.

Always a pleasure and a delight to visit the Jekyll Island Club Hotel. It is a tranquil get away. Both the Sans Souci and Club Hotel are wonderful to stay in and the Dining Room dinners are magnificent. The staff and visitors are friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend the Jekyll Island Club Resort. We had such an amazing time here. The room was outstanding, the restaurants excellent. Rent bikes, go on the dolphin tour, see the turtles, take an historic tour & the beach club. We are already planning to go back and I never want to visit the same place twice! You will love it!

My review is only for the dining side of things (although I'd love to stay in the hotel! ) We had a fantastic lunch here last week and I've also been here for breakfast in the past when attending a conference. Food is excellent, ambience wonderful, very old fashioned, old and elegant venue, beautiful grounds and building. Don't expect a quick meal, but we loved the slower paced lunch service and loved not being rushed. I honestly had so much trouble choosing what to have too — the menu had so many delicious options. Lovely views from the dining room — a real treat!

My first stay was very memorable. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Bill at the Bellhop station made sure every transition to and from the hotel was fast, friendly, and personable. He stands out the most to me and my co-worker as one of the people who made us feel special and comfortable! He was very attentive and practiced great customer service. The only thing we wish the hotel had was a business center. It was difficult for us to work without access to a printer, scanner, and a desk.

Here for a training. The facility is great and staff is very courteous… Just don't eat in their main dining room. Again very friendly but it took just under 2 hours for our meal to arrive and there were 10 other people in the restaurant at most. And the prices were very high given the amount of food you get.

The Club has a great history and is a worthwhile destination. The current Hotel has great potential, but they are just not quite what they hold themselves out to be. A concierge and perhaps better signage would help. There is a concierge number on the room phone, but it must ring at the front desk or in a back office, because I never found an actual concierge. I also never found the gift shop as it is not easy finding much of anything except the front drive. The front desk actually gave me directions to the ATM as being just outside the old gift shop. How they thought someone would know where the gift shop used to be is beyond me. It's generally accepted that landmarks that no longer exist make a poor reference point. They need to get it together. Apparently they are changing things a lot, and they are taking an already confusing jumble and making it impossible. Not what it could be.

The hotel is very nice and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms, however, are very small and the air conditioning is not quite suited to the hotel size. I'm here for a wedding. I've put my children up in a "discount" hotel down the road for a much lower price and, to be quite honest, the room that my children have has more to offer than the rooms at this hotel. For more than a hundred bucks less per night my kids have a kitchenette, a living room area, and two queen sized beds. The hotel is nice for creating a memory but the next time I come to Jekyll Island I'll be staying down the road.

This place would normally be out of my price range, but I often come here with a professional conference. Even if you can't stay here to sleep, be sure you walk the premises, check out the shops on the Jekyll property (there are some in the basement of the main hotel building, and several others — like a bookstore and a glass-blowing shop — in separate buildings). Park and walk around. Read the plaques to learn about the history of various cottages. Go out on the pier for lunch or dinner or live music. Four options for dining: the main Club restaurant/dining room is decent; the cafe (sort of on the backside of the main building) is decent, serving Starbucks; the poolside bar is pretty good (serving hotdogs, hamburgers, booze) ; and I hear the Crane cottage is nice (lunch or dinner?, not sure which, or both). Rooms in the main hotel are always unique, and they can be small or large, single rooms or suites. Rooms in the Crane Cottage are very nice, too. This property is well-situated with complete access to the island hike/bike trail. It's about a 10-minute bike ride (if you head south on the bike path from the Club) to the Atlantic Ocean. Lots of wildlife: alligators, raccoons, hogs, and deer. It's interesting to think that when lots of folks now visit the Jekyll Island Club property (during the warmer months) is when the industrialists were usually NOT here. This was their winter retreat to a warmer clime.

Always love coming down — stay at 2316 every time! The kids love the pool and the Grand dining room, it's all anybody could ask for.

Has a great view out the front if the building, overlooking the water and marsh. The room was beautiful and very spacious. Hotel had a very nice pool and a large array of amenities. Would definitely recommend for anyone to stay there.

Lunch at the Crane Cottage at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel was excellent. They offer a very upscale atmosphere and food to match. Our server was very polite and personable. I would highly recommend this for lunch or dinner.

This place is Goregous! If I recall correctly, the Federal Reserve was put together here and some of the most prestigious rich men in history have had homes here… beautiful mansions. Everyone from the Rockerfellers to J. P. Morgan and more. The hotel is gorgeous as well as the yard and surrounding mansions. I liked the gift shops and the piano music while we ate the huge Sunday brunch. The hotel is gorgeous and is like stepping back in time… much like the Biltmore if you've ever been there-old school charm and lovely woods interiors. I really enjoyed reading the history on the walls here. I recommend this place.

PARADISE! Went for our Anniversary and will be back as soon as possible. The staff are courteous and the scenery breathtaking and we are from Charleston, SC. This place is so worth going to.

Gorgeous hotel, friendly staff, beautiful location.

One of my favorite places on the planet. We have been coming here for years and the staff knows us so maybe that is why the service we experience is so great. We have stayed in most of the rooms/buildings and of course our favorite spot are the suites in the main clubhouse and Cherokee and Crane Cottage. The deluxe King Rooms are good too and if you have a large group, you can reserve an entire building like Sans Souci. The grounds are amazing, the views are spectacular and if you ask the front desk for help when booking your room, they will guide you through the process based on your needs. I wrote an extensive review on Trip Advisor as to places to eat (besides the main dining room which is a must) and things to do — including horseback riding on the beach, bike riding through the maritime forest and the dolphin boat cruise (which the kids love). I adore the old bookstore on the property and it's fun to drive the RedBugs around the island. We so enjoy this place that we are super bummed when we can't get here every year.

I bought the Elopement Package. Ceremony was wonderful, flowers were beautiful, cake was delicious and elegant, the reception dinner service was horrific. Ignored us most of the time, and there were only 5 of us. It felt like they took our money and were done with us. The next morning at breakfast, all the wait staff stood around and talked to each other, so we went to various tables getting cream for our coffee, silverware, a water pitcher, etc. The waitress came to our table to take our order after we sat there for 30 minutes. The manager of the wait staff had a clear view of us at our table the entire time, but did not go alert the waitress that she had guests, manager was too busy talking with her waitresses. The wedding planner for the hotel would not respond to any correspondence about it. The hotel higher management sent an email asking about the experience, and when I replied to that survey as well, no response. I even sent a separate letter explaining my disappointment — no apology whatsoever. My inlaws (who were with us for our event) go there every year for their Valentine's dinner — they just could not get over the horrible service at our reception dinner. The room was fabulous, the property is beautiful, we loved the bar/pool area, the cleaning staff was great, the valet guys were wonderful — the event planner and the service in the main restaurant were extremely disappointing.

Beautiful hotel and grounds surrounding the hotel. Breakfast buffet in the Grand Dining Room was great. Lunch at indoor restaurant (forgot the name) next to Latitude 31 was delicious. Mahi mahi tacos.

Stayed on board Whale 40+2 Ocean Yachts 1979 Documented Vessel at marina 1989 moving to Delray beach! VG dinner in hotel no guests yet? Radison property! Vanderbilt's yacht had to anchor mid river 1920's.

I thought the hotel was very nice. The room we had was rather small and we didn't have a very good view. However, the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely like to stay again sometime.

We recently celebrated our 45th anniversary there (Feb. 15-17) and enjoyed most of our stay. Celebrating by "taking tea" on Friday was a highlight even though the tea was a buffet (never experienced that before). Lauren was a wonderful hostess and made sure we were having a tasty, enjoyable afternoon. In fact we met a charming gentleman named Harry Anderson whose grandfather's picture is hanging in one of the cottages and he was most anxious to share his family's heritage connecting them to The Jeckyll Island Club. This started our visit with smashing success. Cafe Solterra was a delightful surprise. We dropped down there Friday night around 8:30 pm and the two ladies there were charming and prepared two delicious sandwiches. We went back Saturday late morning for coffee, juice and pastries. It's a charming little shop with outside and inside seating. I'd recommend this for your casual dining. The downside of this visit (and the most anticipated) was Saturday night dinner at the Grand Dining Room. The room was chilly and it WAS cold outside but a little heat would have been enjoyed. Our salad and dressing was perfect. Our steaks, although the doneness was correct, were cool when a nice hot sizzly steak would have hit the spot. The coffee was just okay (not hot) but my worst complaint would be the creme brulee. My dessert, the aforementioned, was irresistible to the eye but under the lovely glaze was the gooiest, gummiest, tasteless concoction I've ever had under that name.

There are some things in life you will love even if they are sub standard. That is the way I feel about the Jekyll Island Club Hotel. It holds a lot of wonderful memories for me and unless it falls further into disrepair I will continue to look forward to my stays. When you stay in a historical place such as this you tend to appreciate the authenticity of the furnishings and the ambiance of the original time period. But as I looked around my room on this stay I have to say I was very disappointed. All the things that I saw as a negative could basically be attributed to the housekeeping department and as always the manager as the manager is responsible for the housekeeping department. There were stains on the carpet, mildew on the chairs on the veranda porch, stains on the chairs in the room, limp and musty smelling bedding. Because I love this place so much I wanted to immediately call a meeting with housekeeping, tell them to grab their carts, stock them with cleaning materials and go from room to room and clean each one thoroughly. Just a simple thing like steaming the bed skirts would make the room more inviting. There were so many things that could be accomplished very economically to make the rooms more welcoming. This hotel needs some strong dedicated hands on management. Without it I fear it will succumb to failure. People who are willing to spend money in this economy will not continue to spend it on the inferior quality that this hotel exhibits at this time.
