Not one to complain normally but this place in not the place to stay. Dirty inside and out. Not a family friendly environment, not safe. There were broken beer bottles on their sidewalks, trash, power tools left out for people to walk over, exposed electric breaker box, pool gate did not work, dirty pool area, funny smells in rooms, noisy rooms. Rooms have not been updated much since hotel was built. Large group of illegal migrants staying at hotel that were loud and obnoxious are whole stay. These men made other guest feel very uncomfortable with their actions and words. No quiet hours are honored at this place. Owner did not act like any of this was a big deal.

We’ve been coming here for the past 6 years with the most recent being this past weekend. Every time we have had a great experience, not sure why some people are complaining about minute stuff it’s not a 5star Hilton but it’s great for the location and the price, plus the staff is always friendly and helpful.

We have stayed there for about 18 years. Never again. Problems with toliets, showers, no room service, rude owner and they had my card charged with so much pending charges that I couldn't even use it. Plus there were bed bugs. The Office staff 2as nice but for what we now pay I'll gladly pay more just to not stay there.

Front end manager went above and beyond. Clean rooms nice staff great location.

This is our second time staying here and it has been great! The room was very clean upon arrival and we had no issues our entire stay. The staff was very nice and I hate to leave and head back to Tennessee! It’s not super fancy, but you cannot beat the price and view!

Pool is green. Workers don’t seem to care. Not coming back. I can’t believe I drive 3 hrs for bad service green pool and old rooms. One guy was given a dirty room that wasn’t even cleaned. This place is going down hill.

Here now and the only part worth staying for is the location. Most is filthy run down or doesn't work. Paying over $250 for one of the 2 suites for a special occasion. Advertises a jacuzzi tub but it's broken, wasn't told. The people in the suite next to us are just blasting music on their balcony when I chose the balcony room to relax and hear the waves crash and they're now drunk trying to open our door. Just my son and I here for his 9th b-day, his allergies can't handle the dust/mold/mildew Really bummed because it wasn't cheap and not sure how the cleaning works, nothing posted bit no one's come in. Whoever checked us in didn't know the room numbers for the suites so didn't know where to even send us : (

Worst experience ever! Room head came off. Floors were nasty… hair in the tub… front desk moved us to another room and as we got everything moved we were told we couldn’t stay in that room per the owners… so room I got a shower and tried to turn the heater on and guess what it didn’t work… so we moved to room that didn’t have a kitchenette which is what we reserved … the next morning we were moved to room at this point we were tired of moving so we dealt with the issues in this room… the deadbolt did not work… the TV had lines through it and the speakers were blown… the bathroom fan did not work. We had to lift up on the bathroom door to close it… now here is the real kicker… I was told I would be refunded the 2 nights stay and if we extended a 3rd night we could get it for half off. I have yet to see any refunds AND my account was charged 4 separate times to a total of 932.91… the owner refused to come speak to me face to face … no one can explain to me why I have been charged so much and so many times… I should have left when I found out that the Patels owned this place and just so everyone else knows they also own the Best Western in Apalachicola… I will never be back to this place again! Nor will I stay any where that the Patels own! Not good business Patels not good at all!

Big comfy rooms with equally comfortable beds. We had a gulf front room this time and the view was amazing! They’re Pet friendly too! We don’t have pets but we enjoyed meeting the dogs of the other guests.

We stayed here Sept 18-21 2020 on Fri night our room was entered by a person who has stolen the managers key card and we were robbed of 850.00 in cash. Hotel management was so kind and helpful during this situation… Mrs. Patel was kind enough to credit the money back for our room and the staff was more than accommodating to try and make the remainder of our stay a pleasant one! We appreciate all of you and all your help!

Worst stay I have ever experienced. Checked into a dirty room covered in mildew, old food, beer bottles every where, took pictures and went straight to the desk and was given cleaning supplies to clean the room myself and was told I would be given compensation at check out — — at check out I was told I was a liar and was given a total of $25 off at $550 room. It was ridiculous and no one cared.

They charged our credit card twice and when we got to our $170.00 standard room it had a 20" TV yes 20" and the AC did not cool the room even set to 65°. I stayed in Gulf Shores a few weeks back and paid $140.00 a night and had a 55" tv.

Rooms are far nicer than they were before. One complaint is that a dirty used rag was left in the shower but other than that it’s been a good experience.

Convenient, clean, and very nice! Can't wait to get there this summer!

Apparently we were NOT given a newly renovated room… ours was absolutely filthy! The vent in the bathroom was caked in dust, probably from the 80's. There was a huge hunk of someone's hair in the bathroom floor, there were roach bugs and the kitchen was nasty. And then, I forgot our pillows and called within an hour or so after we left and was told they would send them to us and told us the charge and I agreed… it's been over a month and we have not seen them… so I wouldn't trust anything they say. Would never recommend it or stay there again.

Nice newly updated rooms, located right on the beach, there is Wi-Fi available in the rooms.

Great place to stay on Saint George Island. Nice clean rooms and nice pool and just a few steps to the beautiful beach and the Gulf of Mexico.

We usually stay in Apalachicola but thought it would be fun to spend a night on the island. The Buccaneer was a pleasant surprise. Our room was neat as a pin, the pool was perfect, the staff was so incredibly kind and accommodating and it has to be the best value for the most magical spot in the Gulf. Thank you for a lovely stay Buccaneer!

We love Buccaneer Inn! Love the spacious rooms right on the beach with a nice pool. Everyone there is so nice and accommodating especially Tori!

The staff that cleaned the rooms were very nice.

High Rates and short on amenities. Have your own Roku account before you go otherwise you can't watch tv. The new owners cut the cable service to save money despite raising the rates. All the usual employees have been fired or quit due to the owners poor treatment. The employees I talked to seemed scared to talk about the management. So I sought out the old employees and got the scoop. They could be lying, but I ask how ten people came up with the same lie at different times. As far as the rates I just started renting small two bedroom houses and condos and come out cheaper and more satisfied than staying here.

Love this place on St. George Island, it is an older motel, hit very clean and very reasonable. The staff were of great service and had lots of information. I will definitely be back. And right on the beach, it's great.

The motel is old. Been there a while. However, my biggest complaint was the lack of a microwave oven in the room after being told we'd have one. We bought food to microwave prior to showing up, so… ugh. The room was just fine. Very clean. You could smell the bleach, and carpets were just fine. Pillows were comfy as was the bed — we all slept like babies. Good A/C unit kept the room nice and cool. Access to the beach was great. I would suggest that the staff clean up all the beer and soda cans. Maybe pick up the trash and cigarette butts, too. This is our second time staying there because it's worth the money for the convenient access to the beach.

Our ocean view was great, the room we stayed in was large, clean, very livable but a little retro. The staff was great all the way from the desk clerk to the maids. There is no breakfast served, bring plenty of quarters as the ice is not free. This hotel was built approximately 1979-1980. The exterior is in bad need of some TLC. The grounds need work as in grass cutting and trimming. I noticed alot of cigarette butts, etc in the parking lot.

We have stayed here many times, but this past week will be the last time. When we arrived our credit card was ran for the full stay and immediately got a text from our credit card company asking for approval. Of course we approved. The stay there was the usual. We know the hotel is dated and are fine with that. We had no problems until we went to leave. When checking out they did not want to give us a receipt. We had to get them to finally email a copy before we left. After returning home we found that not only was the room charged but they also put a hold for the same amount of the full stay again on the card. They had already received there money according to our credit card company the day we arrived. When calling the hotel we are told that it would be refunded within 48 hours, we immediately replied it had been almost 72 hours. From there we were told that they can hold the money as long as the want. We never even got told a hold was being put on it. We are contacting the BBB tomorrow. If you have stayed there check your cards you may still be owed money back. Very rude response from the new owners.

I didn’t have a horrible experience but the front desk needs to brush up on their listening skills. It was late and yes we were out on the deck by the pool doing nothing wrong just hanging out. When someone shot off some fireworks on the beach. It scared us to death because it was super loud. We thought nothing of it until the cops came. Some guy was in the pool we didn’t know him! The cop asked us if we did and we said no. He also asked about the fireworks and we said we had been sitting here the whole time and we knew nothing of it. I thought it strange he asked us our room numbers but I told him because my husband who’s a cop as well would want me to be respectful. Well the next morning at check out the lady very rudely I might add said “I was just told to let you know that it’s illegal to shoot off fireworks on the beach at night. ” I tried to explain that it wasn’t us and that we had nothing to do with it. But she wouldn’t listen and when my friend asked about his lost phone she said “if I had it would have sold it by now! ” Wow just wow… I hate that she ended our stay on such a bad note because it wasn’t a bad one until we were accused of something we didn’t even do! But no one would hear us out. But to end this review on a good note the maid staff was amazing and very helpful and nice!

Parents were there last 2 nights. Say that it was horrible — sent to room that was already occupied — poor service, nasty room, housekeeping didn't make beds or vacuum — loud, alcohol bottles scattered all over. They have been coming there for 25 years and say they will never be going back! I usually visit 3-4 times a year too. I've started staying somewhere else. It's sad that The Buccaneer is the only hotel on the island and they can't fix it up and make it a pleasant place to stay. I'd hoped new owner would do that but it's much worse.

Extremely run down rooms. The carpet was so destroyed next to the door you could see wooden floor underneath. Couldn’t cook in the oven because it smoked so badly. Smallest bathroom in the history of bathrooms. Clogged bathtub. No umbrellas at the pool so you are in direct light. Was told they were remodeling, did not see anyone remodeling anywhere. Overall just not a place I’d recommend to anyone.

Great place if your just looking for somewhere to sleep. Old and outdated but kept somewhat nice. Pool in middle and quick access to beach. Good place kids seem to enjoy.

Can build fires on the beach with no permit! One of the world's most beautiful beaches. Great star-watching. Motel is always clean, some rooms have full kitchens, all have fridges & microwaves. Must have quarters for ice machine, but the price to stay rightght on the Gulf more than makes up for it!

Extremely rude personnel! We were caught by the time change and ended up sleeping one extra hour compared to plans. We still got out by when the cleaning crew had to get in the room, but we made it to the front desk 30 mins late because we loaded the car first! They charged us extra for that. Ended up having to call the police. Manager was called and was extremely rude! Great location, decent hotel, but extremely rude! And all that fiasco for an extra $20 for them!

We've really enjoyed our stay here. Out the door and six feet to the deck. Down the steps to the beach. The room isn't new, we don't care. It's clean and housekeeping is couteous and efficient.

Wonderful old Florida motel, right on the beach. Very clean! Staff wonderfully friendly and helpful. Room was huge, w/ a kitchenette stocked w/ cookware. Thick walls, could not hear neighbors from inside room. Great local restaurants just across the bridge in Eastpoint.

Hotel is a older type hotel, rooms are very basic. Good Wi-Fi. But the deck overlooking the beach is amazing. Just steps away from the water. Getting up early to catch the sunrise is worth it. Very convenient to many restaurants and other shops. The staff is small but as warm and welcoming as any hotel that you would pay 10x the money. Definitely would recommend to my closet friends and family.

We had been coming here for years and loving it. Today was our last time. They are under new ownership and they are apparently clueless. We made reservations for the gulf front room on the top floor, room 508, which is the room we stay in every year. We made the reservations 7 months ago and confirmed the last week. When we got there today after a 5 hour drive not only did they NOT have our room, they tried to give us a room facing the pool calling it “gulf front” for the same price. Then when they totaled it up it was about 200 more than what it should have actually cost even at their inflated rate. My wife was obviously upset and clerk kept telling her she needed to calm down. Wrong thing to say. They didn’t offer any discounts, concessions or anything. The girl behind the counter was super rude. Needless to say we got a refund, drove another hour and got a great room at the El Governor in Mexico Beach. Great room like we wanted and a super accommodating staff. Buccaneer has seen me for the last time.
