We thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to the Keys thanks in great part to our stay at Banana Bay. Our room was clean, very comfortable, and we felt relaxed. The pool was a wonderful place to relax after a day of walking around Key West or exploring Bahia Honda. We were surprised at how much there is to do just at the resort! We will definitely stay again, with the family next time.

Love Banana Bay! Nice, clean rooms, a great pool, & nice people. The location is great! Marathon is a family friendly location & right in the middle of the keys so everything is close!

Everything is dirty, moldy smell, and maintenance free.
there's no gel alcohol or anything that looks like it in the income. The carpet is disgusting and full of particles. The place is beautiful but no maintenance or toilet.

We absolutely LOVED our experience at Banana Bay and highly recommend this resort. It was reasonably priced and the perfect retreat for families or couples. We enjoyed our spacious King Room overlooking the courtyard and ocean & we loved the hot tub and pool area. The only negatives were the pool bar not being open during the week and the lack of actual beach to walk on/lay out on. The hotel was beautifully decorated, clean, and COVID conscious.

Not kept well broken lights, pool and phones. Place smells like mold.

Nice place to stay. Marina dock master not that helpful or accommodating. We left several
messages to rent a dock and never received a call back. Just would have been nice if we would have heard back about accommodations before we got there. The hotel room and pool was nice. Parking was good.

Nothing on the website is what it was supposed to be. Checked out immediately. No pool no beach no real ocean view no TV no restaurant.

We stayed at the Banana bay Marina for 3 days. I recommend this nice quiet spot. Rooms we very clean. Elaina and staff were extremely great host. Sit back relax at the tiki bar watch the sunset. Oh and enjoy the Hammock!

For our first time in Marathon we got really lucky with a Priceline deal! I absolutely loved Banana bay! The layout of the grounds is beautiful our room faced the pool area — which was huge! Plus a hot tub! Our room was really nice and looked to be recently remodeled. This hotel and marathon in general, seemed to have a very authentic Keys vibe
One of our favorite parts was exploring the marina area and watching the sunset on the pier! I would highly recommend banana bay!

My stay for a week was too short. Well worth the money. Staff was wonderful, great views and tiki bar by the ocean. Recommend the kayaking. Will definitely be back soon.

I tried calling the property 3 times today and all it did was ring… at least have a voicemail so people can leave a message if the staff is too busy to answer!

This could be a great place! The pool is run down, patch work doesn’t help! Get the hot tube fixed and up and running! STOP the local family’s getting into the pool!

It's so nice that Banana Bay has opened the use of their pool to locals. Now that what is called "Season" down here in the Keys, (Hurricane Season) the lines are shorter at the grocery stores, the Glass Bottom Boat has spots available on short notice, and hotel/motel vacancy signs are spotted often along US 1. At the end of Hurricane Season, 1st of November, everything changes. It's a whole "horse of a different color", as they say. If you don't mind the warmer weather, now and in fact at the 1st of June, until the beginning of the fall, quite a few of the hotels/ motels offer discounted rates. Call the main phone number of Banana Bay to see what they offer during this time. Part of 'the Bay', has been sold as condominiums, and there may also be "townhouse" lodgings available for lease. They have a small ⛵ boat dock where slips are available for lease, and a small sandy picnic area on the Gulf where children play and fish during the day and live music with open-air bar is available on varied nights, depending on "Season. "

The room was large and comfortable and very clean. It must have been recently renovated since all the fixtures and furniture were modern. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great.

I rated this resort 2-stars because of the clean room and comfortable bed. This was not a fully functioning resort. The pool was damaged to the point that I injured my feet on the surface, the jacuzzi was not open and had a huge amount of damage. They had construction material all around the entrance to our room. Over all I was not please solely because non of these issues were disclosed at time of booking. I noticed that many people had a positive comment regarding the service staff, I unfortunately did not have the same experience.

Just got home from a wonderful weekend-Stayting at the resort. Let’s starts off with Natasha who gave excellent customer service-she went above and beyond with being very attentive and welcoming. James also handled minor issues for us but also gave excellent customer service. Having our boat in the Marina made it nice and easy for going in and out. The docks where new — and watching the sunset from the grounds where beautiful. The pool area is under renovation but still functional… but didn’t impede on our stay. Thanks for a great stay.

Employees were terrific, resort was clean and beds were comfortable. The air was not working when we got there but maintenance was to the room and fixed it quickly. Beer and wine served at the Tiki bar, service by James was perfect. It would be great if they served some type of food but many restaurants are near by.

It's an "okay" place to stay in the keys. Definitely not worth the $300 a night. The room was remodeled sometime a few years back the bathroom was moldy our sink ran out of water oh and the pool. Not what the description says. I guess it must have been the sun baked racist old lady that lives there that did it for us. Nonetheless I will not be going back.

Great room and location. It disappoints where the ' bars ' are concerned. The pool bar is inadequate and staff actually offered me a can of pepsi 12 months out of date! The bar at the marina is not open contrary to signs advertising it as such. I had to ask for it to be opened and when it was people flooded towards it. Reason for not opening? Poor weather which was utter rubbish! so dont visit expecting these facilities.

Very beautiful resort, was pleasantly surprised for the money comparitively to other hotels in the area. I honestly didn't think it was going to be as nice as it is. Very quiet, clean and beautiful views of the gulf.

Was there in November and they had no television. Still charged outrageous nightly rate. Place was a joke…

We arrived at Banana Bay with our small dog and were told "We are not pet friendly" at check in even though we showed them that our online booking reservation said that they are. Well after much discussion it turns out they WILL accept pets… for an additional $250! (More than our room cost) Shame on you Banana Bay, and NO we will not pay an additional $250. You left us without lodging as the entire key had no vacancies and ended our trip abruptly, you could have TOTALLY accommodated us based on the error. Rotten banana bay.

Banana Bay just underwent a huge renovation before and after Hurricane Irma! Its grounds are getting better everyday. Although it was much more Lush before hurricane Irma, it's like the islands got a big rake and cleaned out all of the underbrush throughout the keys including Banana Bay. Some of the best marina facilities in the Keys!

Quiet convenient nice rooms.

Except for the hot tub being closed, they have done a great job getting this place back up after the hurricane! Rooms are great!

Great place to vacation at, rooms are great, front desk, Courtney, Mary and 1 more I forgot her name the best welcome committee you can find in 1 place. The rest of the staff's are friendly to. Get the room with the balcony.

Quaint little place. Nice atmosphere at the water's edge. Very friendly staff! Would stay here again (and am glad I am for the next 4 days).

We only stayed here one night but had a great experience! The staff was incredibly helpful and nice, the rooms were great, very comfy bed, and the pool was huge. Make sure you grab pool towels from the front desk when you check in, they don't have any at the pool.

5 star reception, very nice & friendly, I called to confirm pet policy. Google says "Pet Friendly" but that is an error, no pets allowed. Looks like a great place to stay.

Absolutely amazing … gorgeous little marina and private beach… fond memories of meeting wonderful people.

Well it was okay. Kind of Motel 6 level quality room. Nothing special about the room I had nothing special about the view, nothing special about the place, nothing special about the amenities. Nicely tiled shower. The water went off while I was taking a shower in the morning and that kind of screwed up my day.

The Hurricane just decimated not only this place but all of Marathon. They'll come back, but hardly a resort right now. Better than tent camping,, but also much more expensive.

Very expensive for the benefits, the finishes are not present and a moisture-related mildew odor is ubiquitous (damage to the bathroom door)

Great view of the gulf. Great rooms, Samsung smart tvs in rooms, pretty cool… Great location… have family very close to here so very convenient as well, and mini fridge… only down side is no microwave. If they had microwave in rooms it would be 5 star.

Convenient location, bathroom needed to be a bit cleaner. Air conditioning was VERY loud. I'm sure an oversight, but no soap in the bathroom and needed to be cleaned. A bit pricey for what you are getting. Grounds need to be cleaned and freshened up. Breakfast is included, but not much there. Extremely basic continental. For the price I expected better. View from our room, would be the best room they offer. 2nd floor balcony with Gulf view.

Rooms were Great! Jessica the house keeping was Great give these. 5 Star Pool need work but give it. 3 Star Front desk and Supervisor When I confirmed My room she, said name was on list we get here it's not she. Just got started at and was told I did not make a reservation so I when a round with her. The one with supervisor they acted like I was lying to them. I'm a. Major traveler and have never been treated like this in all my travels. The front desk UN PROFESSIONAL I will never return. I will take my $800 + dollars elsewhere For 3 nights and when she up graded me to the room I had reserved it looked like it took everything she has to do it. I'm just saying REPLACE the front end employees and you will have GREAT reviews. Jessica in housekeeping was amazing exactly what hospitality should be. This is my first review I have ever written so sorry it's negative, I own 2 large restaurants and I know the first impression is what makes or breaks. This one is a break. Our wedding was last weekend and we had 5 rooms here total for family and friends. We also rented their beach-side pavilion area for our reception… but after setting up all day, the rain washed us out. Anthony, the Sales Manager literally SAVED THE DAY by helping us move to a nearby indoor venue at the last minute. He was right by our side the whole time helping us transition over to the new venue and just making our wedding a memorable experience in general. We're forever grateful to Anthony for doing this for us as the wedding was only like an hour away before we had to move. Thank you Anthony and Banana Bay for all you did! The rooms were very nice too and there are a ton of amenities on site. Highly highly recommended to anyone considering a Keys wedding or just visiting Marathon!

We had checked in to a brand name hotel/resort in another town, and were very displeased with it's rooms. We then went on a quest to find another place to stay, and decided to try Banana Bay in Marathon. Not only were the staff pleasant to work with considering we were now getting in late, but we were very pleasantly surprised with the rooms. The first thing we noticed before we even opened our door, was how clean and pleasant smelling the resort itself was. And when we walked in, the room was absolutely beautiful! The decorations are very tasteful, and the paint scheme was perfect! The bed was so comfortable, my husband and I are now on a quest to find the same type of mattress! We will be back! Thank you for a very enjoyable getaway!

Spacious and renovated room. Quiet and close to the water's edge.

Purchased a Groupon for a mini vacation in Marathon. We were aware of the remodeling going on; however, when we pulled up our first reaction was "we're not staying here one night! " But once we entered the room, it was one of, if not, the nicest rooms we've stayed in. The bed was so comfortable that we both slept the entire night… sound proof! We hung out at the marina and beach, which both are tropical. The beach was like our own private island, very romantic. People very friendly and helpful. Stores close by and fishing gear/equipment was everywhere. We definitely will visit again. Our friends stayed at Duck Key and was our resort more than their own… was quiet, tranquil, and relaxing at Banana Bay Resort. Excuse the yards… it is a place under construction… but well worth the visit.

Pleasantly surprised! When you first arrive, the concierge's desk looks a bit dated. My husband was a bit worried. What the front desk appeared to be compared to the newly renovated pictures did not add up. When we got to our room, it looked just like the pictures on-line. Pleasantly surprised! We have a large flat screen, small refrigerator, and beach decor. The building seems to be newly renovated. The hotel I'm sure will be nicer in the months to come with all the construction going on. The construction didn't stand in the way of our stay.

New hotel building recently constructed. Feels like we're the first ones to stay in the room. Very nice and modern. Tile throughout. Very nice bathrooms. Doesn't look like it from the entrance or office but the new building is very nice. Would stay here again.

Our car club visited this past weekend and we had a great time! The rooms were beautiful and the staff was great.

Horrible! My husband and I booked a room using Travelocity believing this was the Banana Bay Resort in Key West. When we realized the error 2 hours later, we called to cancel. From what we found out, apparently the mix up happens quite often. We spoke with the manager, Kristen, whom we found to be extremely rude, cutting me off mid sentence and lacking any sort of customer service skills or empathy. I hope the cancellation fee they charged us goes towards customer service training classes for Kristin.

Very basic room, old fit out. Lots of renovations in progress now, limited access to all the resort facilities.

The rooms are in a big need of a refresh. I saw it on TripAdvisor as a decent place to stay. The room was musty, the walls so thin I could hear people talking through them and the ice maker sounds like it's going to explode outside rm 113. I made the mistake of booking this hotel for my in-laws as well as my wife and kids. I will probably hear about it for years. For $200+ dollars a night I expect more.

Really nice. I had limited options for a last minute reservation in marathon and reluctantly choose banana bay despite mixed reviews. I had expected horror show after reading some of the particular nasty entries. As it turns out the facilities I experienced were of the clean but dated motel variety. Nothing more, nothing less. Staff were gracious and location outrageously good for family with kids. Sombrero beach, bahia honda beach, dolphin research center, supermarket, great seafood restaurants nearby. I admit being accustomed to chain hotels thanks to frequent travel for work and vacation but with reasonable expectations I would certainly come again. Nevertheless it seems the resort has been purchased by a new owner who intends to give it an overhaul, complete by next fall. Hope the new owners can restore the charm I can feel banana bay certainly must have had in the not too distant past.

Disappointed. Not high expectations, and yet still was disappionted. Probably was a nice place in 1962. Room. Had anticipated musty smell, but was clean. Pool was nice, but tiki bar only had bud light. Yet sign had margaritas and rum punch. Convenient location, but just for a night stop. Not a resort. The pictures are from other facilities on the nearby property. Needs new carpet in hallways and better than $2:pillows. Friendly service.

We used to come here 9 years ago and it was alright. A little place hidden off the road. With a little pool and a bar. They had breakfast and a game room for the kids. Now in 2014 we came here and the place is just a dump. The rooms are very outdated and not really kept well, dirt spots on the bathroom floor and flys climbing out of the sink pipes. The balcony looked over a bunch of dead palm tree leafs, and trees blocking any view. They don't serve any food whatsoever now, the bar at the pool only serves beer and wine, no mixed drinks. And the pool area was surrounded by retirees in bathing suits. We never saw how much this place was a dump until comparing it to a place called hawks cay down in duck key before marathon. Even though this place is affordable I would not go here. Go down the street to tranquility bay. For 30 bux more you get a way better experience and they take 20 dollars off if you are a AAA member. DONT GO TO BANANA BAY! you will be let down big time.

Horrible Place — Stay away. Our "so-called" Marina suite with kitchenette was something out of the 50's. Kitchen had no silverware. Water disappeared if someone next door was running it. Toilet clogged and had to go to office to retrieve a plunger-turned water off and it continued to run onto bathroom floor. Loud wobbly-ceiling fan, and window-air-conditioner unit — room was hot. Made reservation last minute — and had to take this left-over. Booked boat slip, and another boat kept taking OUR boat-slip. Manager figured it out last day. Booked this for mini-lobster season. At least, we got LOBSTERS — best thing about trip! This hotel was in Key West, Florida. This should be a cheap $40.00 night hotel room — sleeping in car almost better alternative than this hotel.

We stayed at your resort over the weekend for the very first time. I just wanted to bring it to your attention that as returning FL Key visitors for the last 12 years I was very disappointed in our stay. Marathon is where all my immediate family lives so you can image I visit the island numerous times a year staying at many locations. Our initial room when we checked into Banana Bay had a broken A/c. No air what so ever. After loading everything into this first room, bags coolers and our two year old we were VERY irritated after a 4 hour drive when we had to move again. Our second room the lady moved us to was just as bad with roaches and the smell of cigarettes and dog. I feel this was very unfair to us and the price for the rooms was not justifiable.
