We always have an awesome experience staying at Gilbert’s! The staff is friendly and helpful, the food and drinks are great, and the rooms are clean with a great intercostal view. My wife, two kids, and I love to splash around the beach area and then see the sunset.

We absolutely loved our stay at Gilbert’s Resort! We stayed for 5 days. The food was amazing, the views were beautiful, the staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean! On the weekend it was definitely the place to be with a live band, beach, pool, and the Dolphins. We would highly recommend this place!

The rooms were clean, new, and the view was incredible! Dolphins were outside every morning and you can watch them right from your window. The beach was clean, tiki bar had great service and great food and drink. This place was a gem, 10/10 would recommend.

I have always loved Gilberts but today was my last time coming here. Not only has the atmosphere changed with everyone but the waitresses are plain lazy! They straight up told us that we can get our own chairs to bring to the table because they work all day in the heat. Then after they brought us our food they never came back. We have flagged them down and they ignore us. They sit at the back of the bar as I can see them and chit chat and ignore the customers. We have been trying to get our check for about 1 1/2 hours and still nothing. I give up hope with this place. They have changed so much. I have 5 kids with me and they don’t come by to ask if we are finished or need anything.

Fun place to stay. Kids. No kids. Trying to MAKE kids, this is the place. Good food, friendly waitstaff, dolphins in the canal, cable T. V, swimming pool, and not to mention all the different walks of life that stay here. Close to shopping and they even have a Kmart that is close. I would recommend this place to every single person who wants to have a super fun time while on vacation or just running from the police… a+++++++

One of my favorite places in the Florida Keys. I have been a regular for almost 13 years. Live music and excellent food. Great customer service. Last time I went is was too crowded, parking was difficult. Still recommend the place, just go early.

Food and staff is great. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Paid extra to to be on first floor to have a back deck/patio. Beware. You share the back patio with your neighbors and don't know who is going to be there. We had our chairs taken while they stayed out all night listing to vulgar music. Could not even enjoy what we paid extra for.

At first you wonder where you arrive, there are many cars parked in front of the hotel but then you understand it is because people come to enjoy the bar/restaurant and the sunset view from the little beach. Looks like there are many locals drinking at the bar. Our room looked completely renovated, very clean and comfortable. There is a small swimming pool you can access from the restaurant (with a few empty glass left around). Breakfast was fine: eggs, cereal, bread, waffles, … We got free drink coupons when we checked in. Restaurant is expensive considering the food quality that was not great and the waiting time was pretty long.

We stopped here to eat on our way to Key West. I was very surprised by the food. I have to admit I was expecting typical BAR food. The fish dishes we ordered were great. Even my kids finished their whole meals without hesitation. Hog fish was amazing…

Just returned to Baltimore after our recent stay at Gilbert's. It was fabulous! My special thanks to Tanya who was instrumental in our check-in process with Southwest. Our room was spacious and had a Keurig coffeemaker, iron & iron board, mini frig, microwave, and hair dryer. The beds were comfortable with four pillows to boot. Room service was done in a timely manner. It has a pool and you are provided towels which was really nice. The Tiki bars were great and the food and drinks were very good! My only suggestion would be to have reserved parking for guests as it appears that Gilbert's rocks on the weekends with cars parked way before the entrance. We arrived on a Sunday, tired and just wanting to check-in, found it difficult to find parking. Challenging enough being on second floor with heavy luggage — then trying to find parking close enough to transport the luggage to the second floor. The staff very friendly and accommodating, our room quite comfortable, and the food and drink quite good, I would highly recommend Gilbert's — The first and last stop in the Keys! Had a wonderful time!

It was my very first time there and I enjoyed myself, however, I didn't like the fact that I asked another waiter and a bus boy for a bag and was told no by the bus boy and the other waiter ask my waiter for it… I felt it wasn't that serious, but my friend went and got a bag for me anyway and the 18% separately charge on a group with separate checks that total a $100. I don't think that is appropriate for a 3 people that is not a group.

( (Review on restaurant only) ) Very casual place. Bar type scene with live bands. It is located on the water with indoor and outdoor setting. I ordered fish tacos and enjoyed them. They are not accommodating to special requests on meals and parking is limited. Priced higher than expected considering the atmosphere and service. Enjoyed the food and music but one visit is enough for me:)

Had a fantastic time with family at this beautiful place. The beach is small but nice. The restaurant/bar was very good and service was first class. They had a live band that played great music and an amazing magician. We didn't want to leave the place.

GILBERT'S has change. It is not what it use to be. The staff was rude and when I got my drink and pour it in my yeti cup in front of the waiter I got a nasty person guess it was the manager telling me that I could not do that something ref their liquor license with a huge attitude, wow what ever happen to this place, reading others reviews in here guess am lucky they did not called the police on me. Well after lots of years coming here this is the last Gilbert's will see of my money. I hate drinking my drinks one a plastic cup. Very RUDE people an manager there are lots of places in the keys that appreciate customers. Run from here. And the rooms smells like sewage. What a difference from a few years back.

Excellent value for money for this Motel that looks like a holiday club (swimming pool, beach, open air restaurant). The rooms are spacious, modern and very comfortable.

Complimentary breakfast was happily staffed. Try the fresh waffles. The facility was surprisingly clean and updated. Sadly the pool was down due to the recent hurricane. Since I was with my family and we were not interested in the amazing live band, at the best Tiki Bar in the Keys, the music was a little louder than we wanted, but it ended at midnight. I could tell the business was set up more for boaters than the casual one night resort crowd. Thanks for a great time!

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is completely relaxed. We stopped at Gilbert's on our way to the Keys all of the time. It's great for kids and families! We totally recommend eating at this restaurant and even hanging out at the beach food the day. We never stay in the rooms but it's still a good stopping point to get something yummy!

Great location, beautiful nature, ideal for a stop over to Key West. The Tikibar is highly recommended.

Were there in the Tiki bar. There is a small beach and you can eat and drink and chill. Sometimes there is also life music. Audience from old to young from banker to rocker really cool.

Room clean. Good beds. Included breakfast was quite okay. The surrounding area was somewhat unkempt.

Visited here on a Monday afternoon on our way south. It was the perfect time as I hear and witnessed later in the week parking can be backed up to the highway. We were able to park in the lot right at the resort. We sat out by the docks. My wife had a fish sandwich, I had the conch fritters and chowder. All the food was great. Service was quick and staff friendly.

This place is close to Miami, far enough that you'll feel like you're on a real vacation. The service is fantastic even though it's bustling on a Saturday or Sunday the wait staff is friendly and never in the weeds. They put some new items on the menu, which the chef is regularly trying new things. The rooms were also renovated recently and are very comfortable and clean. This is just the perfect getaway!

Too pricey for the comfort. Put us up next to a sewage recycling. I Know it's not their fault but maybe something could be done about the smell as it is literally 20ft from the rooms. Bathroom although new, not bleached as you could spot mold in and around the tub. Get a better cleaning crew. Check in person very rude, check out person very nice.

Good place in Miami to get on the yacht, boat, ship, etc, to Park, to eat well, drink beer, beach, rest, etc, have a great day.

The rooms and bathrooms are so CLEAN! The view is incredible, the breakfast is decent, the vibe of the place is super chill and family friendly. Only point of our trip that wasnt 5 star rating was the rather snippy and moody front desk personnel. No biggie.

We had a group of 20+ and Natalia, our server, was amazing! I had the blackened Mahi sandwich and fries and it was great. My wife and another lady had the same sandwich and said there fish was dry. Others were pleased with their food and we all had a great time. Great job, Natalia!

Not worth what we had to pay but we had no choice since our other resort called the day we were arriving to let us know their place was only halfway open. Smell of sewage was very unpleasant and cleaning service was dismal. We stayed for 5 days and the room wasn't swept once. Pool is not open. Beds are comfortable. Beach area was decent and watching dolphins was awesome.

Great place. Nice clean rooms right on the inlet. The food at the restaurant is good. They had a live band at the tiki hut which is on their beach front. We had a great time there. Would definitely return. We we stayed a couple of nights in Key Largo then moved down to Key West over spring break.

Great local place to go and be near the water, sit under the giant Tiki Hut and have some drinks &/or some food, walk down the dock or go by the little Beach area. Most weekends they have live entertainment Saturday night, Sunday afternoon and if you're lucky enough to catch the local magician show at sundown, it is awesome! You can pull up to their dock in your boat and tie off for the afternoon or bring a picnic basket and go eat down by the rocks or order some food from their Local Kitchen. If there's any empty rooms you can stay over for the night.

Good food. Great service. I little pricey. Allows pets on a leash. Marina area has an overpowering stench but outdoor dining is not effected. Music is top notch. Only draw back, no parking available for RV's. Only vehicles allowed. They also check you vehicle and trunk for grills and coolers which are not allowed.

I'm traveling between to curiociar, stand and welcoming atmosphere, to enter the fund there are having reservation logic.

Spectacular is what I recommend… good prices, fast and friendly place next to the Sea. A day to remember.

Gilbert's was the last night of our Keys adventure. Decent price for a decent room. Nice bed, nice shower, nice view over the water. Tiki bar was cool, apps and drinks good. Band very talented but played strictly 80s rock. Too intense. Brought drinks outside and enjoyed a wonderful evening. I'm coming back.

Gill's is a good spot to dip your feet in the Key Largo waters. It's literally the 1st resort you come across before entering the Keys. They have rooms and a Bar and Grill that can ease your mind of any trouble. Watch the boats go by on Jew fish Creek, go by car or boat either way it's a good time. Live bands play on the weekend that will sure get you off your chair and burn off some of that food you've eating all day. If you get there early take a nice sun bath on the lounges and cool off on the beach its small but it dose the job. Enjoy!

Wow! What a great hidden gem, I stumbled across this place and am very excited to share our experience, the hotel has been around forever and has been tastefully updated, it has a awesome keys feeling and the restaurant food was the best in all the keys by a long shot, (stuffed hog fish). Wow! The new years party was awesome! Thank you!

It is a very nice place, a very fun atmosphere and you can do many things at sea. A rich food and very good music, I love going to the Gilbert.

Located directly on the sea doors to the toilet are not closed but there are only individual parts with small slits in between.

This place has great drinks and finger food and often has live music and performances. A bar area, chairs to sit on and to lay on. A little patience goes a long way here and most people I know who visit the keys stop here.

Fun place. Great location. Awesome drinks. Plenty of space. Phenomenal view. Live music. Good Happy Hour. Good pretzel (only thing we ate). Water view. Beer Games.

Very good care and comfort in the room on the other hand on Rancho on the beach shore very good and with live music my family and I were very pleased.

This place is very relax. The rooms were recently remodeled and their pool was made bigger. You can dock your boat there if you'd like. On weekends they usually have a live band playing and a few vendors selling souvenirs. Good food, good drinks and great bartenders. You can rent a jet ski or kayak on site.

Gorgeous. Sunrise left sunset to the right of the room. On both sides of the room you can open a door to the veranda and watch. Small smears: The river stinks… can't do anything for. Probably still from the hurricane. Street is not heard in the room.

Great spot for all. Tiki bars & a swimming area for the kids. They also have bands, or magic shows (or both). The food isn't our favorite. We usually stick to wings & smoked fish dip but I recommend it for a lazy day in the keys. Sunday's are usually packed and you have to park on top on the bridge but they usually have a shuttle to take you down.

Most of the staff is great, please see and take care the bartender Kim, Asian American that knows what she is doing, be honest and she will be a amazing at giving you a great Island Drinking Experience, which we all look for!, managers pretty understanding and good, I am here to help and work. The breakfast lady is great and always has a smile. The people that come here are very diverse, which is great. Will be a great experience when you visit or stay, the bar the great.

Room old and not very sharp (we were in the older building a little above the reception. Our room was nothing like the ones that the motel puts forward on its photos… is it because we booked by Booking that we reserve the most rotten rooms? ) Air conditioning obsolete, full of dust and extremely noisy. The rooms and bathrooms have been immaculately remade with high end finishes. Housekeeping is on top of their game. First floor rooms have cute patio areas that open out onto a dock, which faces a waterway between the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. It makes for a picturesque boat parade view. The resort has a marina, small private beach and a tiki hut restaurant/bar with good food and entertainment. The newly decorated and clean rooms, coupled with the friendly staff, make this a great option for the Florida Keys. The honest truth is that most hotels in the Florida Keys do not offer rooms with such a high standard in terms of furnishings and cleanliness. This newly remodeled resort is a sure winner :)

The place was packed with people parking everywhere which okay as the resort had shuttles ferrying people back and forth. Live bands playing something for everyone. Menu choices was varied and of course there were the adult beverages. I counted three bars, tables all over with the breeze coming off of the water made for an enjoyable afternoon. Well visit again.

Hello everyone! This is true story and shock me! I had check in a lot of hotel, motel resort and even luxury one but never been the place have the costumer service like this here in GILBERT'S RESORT (if I can give you guys 1 millions negative star I would like to do that) the costumer service the room the staff are so terrible and racist (hey remember this is freedom and no racist country and remember where is you guys from? ) the lady in office with the brown hair is so terrible and I don't know why you guys hide her. She have nothing about treat a costumer not yelled costumer… but anyway there is so worst. If you guys don't believe me then go check it but recommended don't go there. And in key largo they have a lot Hotel and resort better than this resort 100 time. Watch out for the hotel rule they can cheated on you. Only thing I like it here they have nice view. Sorry to tell you the true! Thanks.

I've only visited the restaurant yet I am in love. The atmosphere and food are amazing. The little kiddie beach is awesome. So easy to spend the entire day there. I've been going almost every weekend from Miami.

The floors in the room made your feet black if you walked on them. The tile floor is not clean. The family suite had one, very small bathroom for 8 people. Additional $20 per night was charged for the 8 month old even though we brought his bed and he ate no breakfast. There is a microwave but no cooking is allowed. The fridge is small and has no freezer. It is likely you will need additional resources. There is a "no pet" restriction but signs to put your dog on a leash. — — The place is NOT pet friendly. They did not allow any animals: even service animals. The breakfast was wonderful! They had fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, scrambled eggs, waffles, cereal, juice and milk. Accommodations for a boat are non-existent. No parking for boats or a dock to launch or a place to put your boat trailer. Ice must be obtained at the tiki bar behind the facilities. It will take you five minutes to get a small bucket of ice, then, if you need more, you will have to make a second trip. Not convenient. The room needs some kind of curtains to reduce light in the room. There are lights outside the room that stay on all night and only blinds to block the light. It was like sleeping with the lights on. All this for only $875 for two nights! Not a good deal. Additional notes: No pool. It is closed.

Fairly good area, but not exactly 'keys paradise'. Pricing was decent, atmosphere was a pretty typical island life, crowd was a bit shady though. Did have a small boat ramp which may lead to me returning for another night. Best part worth mentioning is the fact that bar/tiki/beach area faces west so you'll get a great sunset view. Honestly, I'd go further south, but if you're looking for a quick getaway from city life, it's not too bad.

We checked into Gilbert's on the 4th of July — the last night of our week-long Keys vacation. Seemingly popular with both visitors and "locals, " Gilbert's has lovely views, a fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and clean and quiet rooms. The food and drinks are great! The beach is nice! The bed was just awesome! What a great way to wind down our trip… we'll be back! — Kevin and Diane.

Pleasantly surprised by Gilberts resort. Hotel room was spotless with all new furniture as well as new fixtures in bathroom. Recent remodeling is obvious. Beds were quite comfortable. Quick check-in was appreciated. Tiki bar is on site and huge. Our server was very professional and did a great job. Our overall experience was wonderful and we will return for another weekend getaway very soon.

Loved it! Good location. Bartenders were working so hard, but got our food out fast and they were attentive. (We sat at the bar. ). Oysters, chicken chili, mahi sandwich was what we ordered. Good quality, warm and yummy. Live band. Humongous place on the water!

Little beach, little pier for kids to jump off or a person like me that thinks there still a kid. We saw Dolphins swimming at sunset. Very cool small nice place to visit, will be going again.

Spent a few hours at tiki bar. Live entertainment was fine. Staff competent but not warm, friendly. Food was well prepared and ticket times less than fifteen minutes. Head was clean and maintained. I'd go back again.

Arrived late and no one was at front desk. Had to go to Tiki restaurant to inquire, where everyone was drunk. The phone they asked you to use for after hours arrivals didn't work. When arrived in room, found rusted fridge, someone's initials carved into door, bad need of paint, and inadequate hot water. Plus, had that nice mildew smell. When went out to retrieve luggage from car saw bunch of scary looking hoodlums yelling at one another. Unless you're in a biker-gang, I'd stay away gr this shit-hole.

TERRIBLE worst food service and everything. 1 we were brought a fish dip that no one ordered, No one was drunk, or drinking, (except mabe the waitress) so we knew we had not ordered it, So the waitress asked my daughter in law you no want? then what you do want LADY? very rudely! I thought my daughter in law was gonna smack her. My daughter ordered mahi mahi basket, which was no way mahi mahi it tasted terrible like borderline rotten, we complained but all she did was took it away, and she ordered Leamonade to drink and they brought her leamon mixer you put in mixed drinks. Word of warning to anyone thinking about eating here don't.

We were going to stay in this nasty room in the 2nd floor but luckly we could change it for a better room in the first floor. It is a little bit expensive for what it is but the tiki bar is pretty good. The first floor is good but stay away from the second one.

Well, the menu finally changed, for the worse. They got rid of 2 of our faves, the Oysters Rock and the beef kabobs. We settled for a burger and fries. Yeesh! Food took forever to come out and it's not like the place was packed. That kitchen used to be able to sling massive quantities of food. Then, by the time it arrived it was cold. I would have sent it back but I didn't want to wait forever again to probably get another cold plate of food. And it seems about $5 was added to every menu item. It was already a bit pricey, especially on Sundays when they used a higher priced menu, but the live bands are usually good. But to just hike all the prices up and then provide lower quality food and service is not right. And they had no specials menu of the day at all. And the server was so slow! We went for an entire band break and most of the next set without seeing her once. Also overheard several groups of folks nearby who go for some drinks at the bar, listen to the music for a bit and then go some place else to eat. That will be our plan from now on.

The place is always pack and it has a wonderful environment and awesome finger food and drinks, but be aware that it will be pack and you may need to take the Gilbert's tiki express (Security guard golf car) if you are park all the way out on the road.

I loved it, super family-friendly atmosphere, healthy fun, in a word brilliant.

Check in: Was pretty bad, the person at the front desk was on a personal phone call for over 6 minutes as myself and a guest in front of me waited. The front desk area was apparently under construction, paint cans, rollers, and tubs of other remodeling items. No sign saying please excuse the mess. It was a literal construction zone. The Room: The room was clean but desperately in need of repairs. The bathroom was terrifying. Paint peeling and chipping off in the shower stall, what appeared to be mold, LOTS of rust around the shower stall door and water handles. My 6 year old was scared to take a shower. Paint chips where one would put their toothbrushes, very unsanitary. The tile floor was badly cracked in several places, cracked and raised enough to make one stumble. The environment was not suitable for children, drunk people everywhere and no security of any kind. The parking is terrible due to the Tiki bar that is not just for the hotel, no assigned spots for guests of the "hotel" Last but not least I was charged 40 dollars 2 days after my stay for "stained towels" which I know for certain we did not stain. They refused to give me back my money as well, and were COMPLETELY rude when I called them to inquire about said charge. So unhappy with my stay.

For the money that is paid, this should a maybe 3 star hotel. The room has mix furnishes, the TV furniture is the top of a small refrigerator. The paint is peeling the bathroom tails and floor (they renovate my painting over old tails) and no phone in the room to call for room service. You also can't take your breakfast back to your room. Love the place, never stayed in rooms, but new ownership looks and has started to redo the whole place, would not go anywhere else, the bar staff and manager are the best, can't wait to get baxk.

What should I start with. avoid if can! if you get second floor, demand to get room on first, they are "ok" for one night. (they been remodeled and we didn't find bed bugs in there, even though one of two beds wasn't changed. It had some hair and some dirt/sand on sheets) Rented a room for 60 dollars, They gave us a second floor, WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I'm serious, I've lived in Florida for 10 years, I can't even give the rating to this place, 0 stars. I booked this place by mistake, if I would of read these reviews I would never done so. So, when we arrived to our SECOND FLOOR room, we instantly inspected the beds, found some dead (at least lol) BED BUGS, so we came right out to get our refund. Security guy offered another room on same floor that looked the same. After that we have gotten a first floor room that was ok. First floor been remodeled. Tvs and fridges are still super old, ACs are newer (have remotes wow). Bar was ok, we got their special steak and lobster, lobster was good, steak was old and cold. Wine is served in small plastic cups.

Because even after years nothing has changed as I read. Was at that time the horror. Alone by the no longer existing lift bridge today. Null service smelly air conditioning. Not really clean shower. The list is long.

Only used the tiki bar for a quick bit and a beer. The food was actually very good, but after lunch, I visited the mens room and HOLY SHIZ! it was DISGUSTING. There has to be gas stations in Afghanistan that are cleaner. If I had known this in advance, there is no way I would have ordered food. I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like.

Wow, what can I day about this shit hole? I read the WORST review on the bedbug registry about this place, so I walked in pretty scared of what to expect. I checked in they assigned me to room 212, so I went there for a thorough inspection. The mattresses turned up clean of bed bugs (thank god! ) but the mattress was shoddy at best, no bed skirt on the box spring and the box spring was wrapped in a thick plastic. There is no central A/C as to be expected in "Old Florida" but there was a lovely tattered curtain billowing in the breeze of said wall banger. The bathroom was better than some of the other bathrooms I saw, all in all my family and I rented 3 rooms. I had no shower head and called the front desk and notified them of it. They quickly sent up some beefy bastard in a black t-shirt with SECURITY across the shoulders like you'd see down at the bar. He told me that he'd never seen anybody steal the shower head before that he'd check for a replacement but wondered if it was something I would "deal with". What a douche. A while later another beefy security bastard appeared and replaced the shower head. In the bathroom there are only two rinky dink towels, so if you do insist on staying, make sure you bring your own. The mattresses were not connected to the beds in any way, so even when I pushed them against the headboard, the still rolled back about 4" away from the headboards.

Awful awful awful. Dirty rooms, sheets, towels and everything, disgusting odor from wet and old carpet. A/C (only fan mode). We had to leave that night and find another hotel. At least, they refund my money. Amazing Tiki Bar, live show, food and service.

I stayed here with my family the first weekend in March. We rented one of the newly remodeled motel rooms on the 1st floor. The rooms were clean and we had a terrace right by the water. My kids were fishing right off the dock in front of our room. The Tiki Bar had a live band playing every evening and the food was amazing. We are definitely going to stay again when my kids are on summer break.

They are liars and thieves. The television did not work when I got to the room, I called them and they changed it. At the time of exit and pay, they charged me other $350 for an old TV 19 "CRT, they told me that I broke it, and it was not true, not even the police could do something. Beds and bathrooms seemed out of an old horror movie. It's just a bad motel and cheap operated car, which has no accountability to any corporation. If you still decide to stay, paying with a credit card for what not cheat on them. The worst experience I've ever had in a hotel. They are liars and thieves.
