We had the best time. Amara Cay was a fantastic place to stay. So much to do. The best views. Front desk — Sofie & Jamealya you BOTH were so kind and helpful and FUN! Sofie, thanks for recommending f’ing bagels. We loved it! Nina — you make the BEST caramel iced coffees. You’re going to go far in life. Don’t let anyone stop you. Jason from the kitchen — so kind and wonderful. Also, amara cay has the best burger in town! Inside bar — Caleb & Ivan. You guys were excellent! Caleb you take pride in your work. They both make the best mock tails. Tiki bar — PAPPPIIIII (Alton), Patrick and Ebner. We loved you guys! The best at surprising me with my drinks. So much fun. Great conversation. So many laughs. Driver Nick — we had a BLAST with you! So many laughs and dance parties. I’m sure I’m missing someone. But thank you all for the great vacation -the Iowa crew.

Great atmosphere had the best chocolate martini that Justina black made for me and birthday pie.

Fantastic place to spend a week or 6. We’ll maintained property. Nice tiki bar with great staff and good menu. We’ll run property. One or two of the front desk staff could use a lesson in friendliness but that’s really my only gripe. The beautiful sunrises and sunsets make it all worth it. I highly recommend Amara for your next stay.

Wow this hotel was perfect. So glad I didn’t listen to the bad reviews people posted. It’s clean, BEAUTIFUL. Amazing pool. Good food and drinks. Friendly workers. Also loved the pool being open super late. My kids loved swimming in the dark. And how you can visit the sister properties. Okay visited them and preferred Amara over them! 5 star for sure.

Beautiful hotel. Staff very sweet. Pool was great. Great atmosphere and at night they had bonfires and the game area was well lite.

Don’t waste your money. We were completely ripped off. We came here for our wedding. It cost us around $4500 to stay for 5 days, It took them two days to service our room. We had to ask for fresh towels for two days. We finally got them the 2nd day. For our wedding, they didn’t bother to clear the beach, and we had two very rude strangers sit through the $2200 “elopement package” we paid for. Then, we decided to wash some clothes. There is no laundry service on site, so be prepared to bring more than enough underwear and clothing because there is only one washer and dryer for the entire Hotel. We were fine with that, and decided to do laundry after coming back to the hotel early so we’d have stuff to wear for the next day’s adventure. The front desk did not have change for a $5. The bar did not have change for a $5. They wanted us to drive to a bank at 9pm. Mind you, we asked about laundry service when we checked in and no one mentioned that this would require a sack full of quarters and we’d have to scavenge for them. It seems like small stuff but for the amount of money your spending the service is absolutely terrible. The rooms are nice, but you can get a hotel for half the price that’s just as nice. Save your cash it’s not worth it.

We loved it here! Amazing scenery, great food and drinks, games for the kids. Situated close to lots of fun adventures. The pool with a view of the ocean was our favorite part.

The entire staff were so friendly and helpful. We did have a problem with our room that unfortunately wasn't able to be fixed. Great location with gorgeous views. The hotel is dated and really needs to be updated and cleaned up. The sofa bed in our room was in terrible condition, stained and mattress was super uncomfortable and our bathroom door needs to be replaced. The tiki bar was great with really good food. Not worth the high prices they charge for the rooms.

Mostly everyone working there was nice but ordering a drink from the outside bar was like pulling teeth. The first night we were there they told us the bar closed when everyone left, great! After all we were on vacation and wanted to relax. The second night they shut the bar down around around 9:30 and then made their way out to the fire and shut those down about an hour later. Lol. I thought I booked a vacation resort? Not a hotel. I was just not satisfied with our stay and it was super upsetting. It wasn’t a cheap trip and their prices are pretty high. I would have had no issues with this is we received the services we paid for. With this being said, I completely understand we went during a pandemic and staffing was short. However, I definitely did *not* get what I paid for.

Beautiful resort, pool is amazing, friendly staff. The only downside adjoining rooms are terrible. Awake all night listening to a guy snoring. Then the next night people parting all night long.

Super friendly staff, very clean, and the opportunity to utilize the amenities at the other 3 sister resorts. Also a free shuttle and free bike and kayaks.

This place is amazing in every way. The service is amazing as well as the accommodations. We came down here with 18 cars from our Bonita Springs Corvette Club and they have hone above and beyond for us. I highly recommend staying here.

Non-existent customer service or care for their guests. They lied about and outright screwed up numerous things, and made no attempt to right any wrongs. Furthermore? It’s not a resort. It’s a churched up holiday inn with a tiki bar and crabby kayak rental attendants.

Beautiful property, very airy rooms. Lots of natural light and comfortable furniture. Included with the resort fee was free paddle boarding and kayaking and bikes. Helpful staff. We arrived on Valentine's Day and the hotel offered a special dinner with roses on each table. Dog friendly hotel with laminate flooring in rooms. Highly recommend.

Awesome views, great drinks and food!

Having our wedding at Amara Cay was the best decision we made! All of the staff were so nice and helpful! Andrea & Pierre were especially amazing! They were so awesome about our dog being the ring bearer & They were super accommodating throughout the whole process. We will only be staying at Amara Cay from now on!

I loved our lunch date at Amaracay Resort! Reel Burger’s food is delicious, fresh, and reasonably priced! The BBQ miniburgers were my favorite!
And of course the waffle fries! Your kids will escape the water to have multiple order’s of these poolside! Tom loved the fish dip, it was delicious! Reel Burger doesn’t skimp on the fish. They served a very generous portion in a cute mason jar! Athan had the fish BItes dipped in the avocado sauce! So yummy and fresh they are melt in your mouth delicious! I can’ wait to go back for a fish sandwhich! Soon! Great staycation destination lunch spot and overnight getaway!

We spend our 14 Anniversary it was beautiful! Nice ocean view suite (427) with two balconies. It as a great place to relax and unwind from the crazy right now.

From the moment we stepped foot on the property everything has been excellent. The atmosphere and ambience are absolutely perfect if you’re looking to relax and have a romantic getaway!

Stayed at three resorts in the Keys this week and this was our favorite! Just the right size, awesome accommodating staff, great pool, tiki bar, grounds, easy fast check in … etc! Perfect getaway!

We are at Amara Cay for 3 nights. The landscaping is beautiful and the pool is top notch! The front desk staff are great. Very welcoming and really kind. Onsite kayaks and paddle boards are fun and excellent with kids who want to jump in, paddle a minute and then go back to the pool. Sitting in a hammock is incredibly relaxing. Bar/waitstaff is hit or miss. When they are great, it’s a wonderful experience. When they are not great it feels like you’re inconveniencing them by asking for more water with breakfast. There are some serious drawbacks IMO. There is a general lack of cleanliness compared to what we are used to. Is this a Keys thing? Hallways not vacuumed, the same spill on table in lobby there for 24 hours, elevator kinda gross, the same big pile of bird poop next to the pool for 6 hours. We’d come back for the pool and common areas and because a 2 room suite is convenient when traveling with kids (even though the couch in our room has clearly reached the end of its lifespan), but honestly expected it to be nicer. Will update review tomorrow and will add pictures. Maybe Friday/Saturday are just extra rough.

This place was absolutely fantastic. From the Event planners a year before to the front desk staff, cleaning staff, pool bar, ALL catering staff and especially the Chief "Bravo". Every person that attended my wedding weekend could not stop raving about this place. ALL food was incredible. We spent 6 days and 5 nights and only ate off property once and that was to a sister property. Chef Cash and his staff are geniuses when it comes to GREAT food. All of my three events were just perfect. Kenneth the front desk manager deserves a huge raise. We had 35 rooms with people checking in at different times and he made it extremely smooth for everyone. We spent many days at the pool and Alton at the pool bar was incredible. We had 50 people each day and night and they did not miss a beat. Jenn Weiden your staff is absolutely amazing.

Only complaint was bicycles where in Horrible condition, should probably get rid of who ever is in charge of maintaining them!

Picturesque and well kept property, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Grounds are well kept and sand is smoothed and swept. If you’re booking, be sure you get a room with a view. Dining is casual. Food was a bit disappointing — burgers and onion rings greasy.

The hotel is absolute perfection! Paradise in Islamorada. It’s clean and fresh and the staff is the greatest! We loved Sophie, Kenneth, and Delores! Every single part of our family vacay was amazing. We docked our boat there and had quick access to alligator reef for snorkeling fun. I would highly recommend!

We stayed there for 5 days and it was beautiful!. The staff was friendly and the food at the tiki bar was delicious!.
We had a few issues with our bathroom, the hook behind the door was missing, the bottom of the shower door seemed very dirty and the worse was, there was mold on the bathroom ceiling. Unfortunately my husband didn’t see this until our last day there. We were wondering why I had sudden outburst of coughs but realized it could’ve been the mold. My husband took a picture of it and showed it to the general manager when we checked out but he didn’t seem too concerned about it.
I feel for the price we paid to stay there, the accommodations should’ve been top notch!.

The resort is amazing! Very laid back, not a party place. The staff is amazing and have taken care of anything we need with out question. We must have hit a lucky weekend on 9/21, the resort was busy, but not packed so it felt like we had the resort all to yourself! The pool area is very nice, and the staff groom the sand and pool area very early in the morning so when you wake up it is nice and fresh. The rooms are very nice and clean, and the beds are a dream to sleep in! Food is very good, the burgers are the best!
Here comes the bad part! The dock is top notch for boaters, but not good for the average guest that wants to throw out some bait at night. Some lights under the dock and some PVC pole holders around the dock would attract kids and myself to fish off the dock. There are fish out there, mangrove snapper, and I saw some barracuda and shark caught off the dock, but they could make the dock more fishing friendly for guests.
That is my only bitch, so this resort gets 5 stars!

Let me say right off, that we absolutely love this resort! Everything from the beautiful decor, to the friendly staff to all of the awesome amenities, clean & comfortable rooms, food and great views this resort is a MUST if your doing anything from celebrating something or just popping down to the keys for a great weekend. We’ve been now twice and we’ve yet to be disappointed! Keep up the great work Amara Cay! We’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful cozy resort. I shared a great stay with family and friends. The staff were friendly and polite. The facility is very well maintained. I love the decorations! The room is comfortable and has a beautiful view. Very close to good restaurants. I highly recommend this place.

I had a not-so-nice experience with Sophie when calling ahead about my reservation (quite rude), but once I arrived Daniel was very pleasant and accommodating. Loved the ambience, vibe, and decor. Although room view was towards parking lot I still could see the ocean. Room was nice, clean, and comfy, but every so often there was a bad smell in the room. Overall hotel and pool was clean. Didn't try any specialty drinks, but food was good. Definite plus was your stay includes free paddle boards, kayaks, and bikes. Will be back!

Room was very nice and large. Beach was better than most in the area but don't expect a real sand beach in the Keys. Bar drinks were overly expensive. Friendly staff. Kayaks, paddle boards and lawn games included. Pool was nice.

We stayed here 4 nights and overall a good experience. Family friendly resort. The rooms are nice and big but they need more lights. Also, the bathroom lighting is not good according to my wife. The Tiki bar is nice but $13 for a frozen daiquiri, you’ve been warned! Omar and Alton & Jacky were cool bartenders. My advice is eat at the Tiki bar and bring your own alcohol. The lunch and dinner at the Reel Burger restaurant were very good but breakfast was overpriced and they don’t know how to cook an omelette. Another thing is they should not let guests monopolize the 2 sets of chairs under the palm trees at the “beach” part of the resort. There was one couple that camped out 2 days in a row. Like it was their backyard. Have a time limit. It’s more of a sea wall than a beach. There’s sand but you have to walk down stairs if you want to get in water. Staff were all very friendly. My kids had fun kayaking and even saw a 4 manatees! Will, the attendant was cool. One other thing, I didn’t like the fact that they jacked up the room price by $100 on our last night which was a Friday. Overall I give it 4 stars.

We decided to stay on a whim when I saw a Facebook special. The very friendly front desk staff gave us a upgrade and our room had great views of the courtyard and water. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff all around seemed friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and there is quite a number of things to do for entertainment. We ate breakfast at the restaurant and it was worth the prices. I will definitely recommend this resort as well as visit again. Thank you!

A hotel not a resort. Want a big, good room? Go. Want a place where you’ll enjoy the facilities and be even slightly impressed? Absolutely NOT here. Desk service is nice — the rest is poor and the facilities are bush league. A bit of a joke. Restaurant and bar hours are unbelievably limited.

Very relaxing spot and the property is gorgeous. Our room was very big, loved the decor and the grounds. This is great for families and couples looking for a relaxing getaway, very nice size pool, hammocks and fun games throughout. They also offer kayaking and paddle boarding. We had lunch at the pool bar, Reel Burger restaurant and it was delicious!

They advertised online 2 restraunts, they only have 1 restraunt with 2 locations to eat at. Menu was very limited and overpriced. I paid $13 for 2 pancakes for breakfast. Ridiculous! They also advertised a hot tub which they do not have. Our room had a broken curtain and holes in the sheets. The staff was kind of rude, the morning hostess gave us attitude when we came for breakfast and the maids were very loud yelling at each other throughout the hall early in the morning. The beach bar was great and the bartenders were friendly and great. The pool area was beautiful. They provide kayaks, paddle boards, and bikes for free which is great even though we didn't get a chance to take advantage of them. All in all it wasn't bad but I wouldn't pay that much again for sub-par.

First time here. Friendly, helpful service. Clean rooms and property. Awesome breakfast and love the tiki bar. Can't wait to use the free kayaks.

The service was lousy, the staff had always face annoying. If you asked anything, they responded with annoying attitude.
The food menu is little variety and the service is slow.
The driver who takes you to the pier to take the boat is rude, does not open the door to help people get up and down and puts high music that is impossible to communicate with someone inside the ban.
Request Cot service and they let me cut closed in the door with the sheets up so that I would put it in and put it together.
I consider that the type of hotel and the price you are paying is to be served in a friendly and minimal way to arm the children's bed.
I stayed two night and the person who arranged the bed did not shake the sheets before extending them so the second night there was sand on the bed.
I definitely do not recommend it because the hotel is very nice but the service is lousy.

There was a problem with the reservation, once the manager got involved it was quickly resolved. The rest if the week was perfect. Staff was excellent. Food was good. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Will definitely recommend it.

Pet friendly hotel, not so pet friendly. I don't normally write reviews but we chose this hotel because it was pet friendly and on the water. The only pet friendly thing about this hotel is that they allow the pets to stay in the room with you with a charge of $100, along with a place for your pet to go to the bathroom at the very end of the hot pavement parking lot. What we didn't know until we got here was that they do not allow you and your pet access to the outside resort including the tiki hut and you are not allowed to leave your pet in the room alone so we basically could not enjoy the amenities of the resort but still paid a $30 a day pet resort fee. Really disappointed, especially when you can go right next door with your pet and get to enjoy drinks on the beach with your pet. This resort is better off just not allowing pets. Not worth the money. I will say that it is a nice resort and the staff is very friendly.

Reel Burger restaurant review. I had lunch today, great setting with the ocean views. The food was very good. My disappointment was with the service. I was encouraged to try the restaurant as they are courting locals and guests from other resorts. Upon entering the outdoor seating area there was no acknowledgement of us or any direction as to what the service level was. After a wait at the table I went to the bar and asked for some direction. I was told to order from the bar and the food would be delivered to our table. After the meal I needed to return to the bar and wait for my turn to pay the bill. I spent way too much time standing at the bar ordering and paying for my meal. The staff was friendly, just not enough of them to offer an expected level of service.

Nice little hotel. Pretty friendly staff, nice grounds. Rooms transmit some sound from next door room, grounds are very contained, no beach to walk on. Overall a nice place to stay.

This is the best of the worst. The staff are friendly. The place is nice. But it is extremely expensive. And the keys suck. I will not be going back. There is no way. There are much better experiences everywhere else.

The grounds are beautiful but unfortunately it's a smoking resort. It says a non smoking resort but several people were freely smoking at the public pool and at the outside bar. Management saw it too but did nothing. As an asthmatic family we had to spend our days at their sister resort who enforced the non smoking.

It has its good and its bad parts. Hallways have a strange smell on 5th floor at least. You can hear your neighbors speaking and snoring. Service is a bit disorganized in the restaurant for breakfast. Linen, room design and bathrooms are nice, minus the smell. Relaxing to sit on the chairs and watch the ocean.

Absolutely enjoyed staying at Amara Cay. The facilities are exceptionally clean, spacious, and the staff went out of their way to be of assistance. The pool was the high-lite for my girls, spending every available moment they had there. If you are looking for some quiet, relaxing time this is the place for you. In close proximity to fishing, diving, and plenty of restaurants. If you prefer chaos, confusion, and massive shopping outlets, better stay in Miami.

Expensive for what you get. Only three bath towels in a room booked for 4 adults. Bathroom exhaust fan doesn't work. Very small bathroom, and seal on shower door didn't keep water from going on bathroom floor. Pool was suppose to be open, but everything was locked up. Had to ask someone at the front desk to find someone to open it. Some good things too. Pool was a little dirty, but had nice colored lights and was lit beautifully at night. On a rating of 1 to 5, I give it a 3.

Nice hotel! I wouldn't call it a resort "yet", but if you are looking for a quiet stay and want to enjoy the true beauty of the keys. This is a great place. Everything is new and renovated along with a temperature controlled pool. Rooms were were tastefully decorated, and we're very spacious. We made full use of the dive and snorkel shop on the property. Had a fabulous time! Pool side service would have been a plus, and they don't appear to serve dinner yet, but it's all so new and I am sure that is coming. Definitely a return location. Very friendly staff, thank you!

Absolutely amazed with the service and cleanliness this resort delivers. The customer service is above what Chic-Fa-La can deliver. The comfort and feel of the resort makes you feel like you really do have your own slice of the keys to yourself. Both bars offer amazing drinks while treating you like you're their best friend. The restaurant they have has better than your average resort food. I've highly enjoyed my stay here and will be back.

I thought the rooms were very nice and the staff was incredibly welcoming. When I received a charge on my credit card for resort fees 6 weeks after our stay, the manager was very helpful in sorting through my questions and working with me.

The view was amazing! Went straight out to the ocean. The rooms were very clean and modern. Service was great too; house-cleaning made everything spotless. The sand on the man-made Beach is very white and soft. One of the best resort hotels I've ever been to.

The hotel has been partly remodeled. The rooms still need more work. The restaurant was over priced. Some items were good. Others were mediocre. They have a seawall with a truck load of beach sand that you can sit in with your chase, but you can't walk fro.

Resort is nice although a family member was charged a very high rate while the room next to her was charged at $130 a night. Also don't look for complimentary coffee they charge $5 a cup. I had a good room at a decent rate. Shop around for best rate as they offer many. Restaurant can use improvement. Limited menu. I rate the room at 4 stars and the restaurant 2 stars.

This is a former Hampton Inn, upgraded with a modern design. Great location and very friendly and accommodating staff. Room was quite comfortable.

The place doesn't look like much on the outside, but the decor inside is top notch. The staff were all nice and helpful and the attention to detail is very good. It is not a big place or beach, but it is private and enjoyable.

Recently remodeled, beautifully decorated, and in a great location. This will be my go to place in the Keys. Stayed for 5 days in July, and did not want to leave. The staff was above and beyond.

They just remolded the entire place. The staff was excellent! The room's are fantastic! The bed was one of the most comfortable one's I have ever slept in. The restaurant and bar's are top notch. The secluded beach area was perfect for relaxing and enjoying a drink.

Stayed for a small girls' weekend. Had an ocean front suite and it was very comfortable, and clean. The small interaction we had with the staff was always pleasant. I loved that they have a DJ by the pool/beach areas, it allowed for a good outdoor day. The shuttle bus is the best! Driver Nick was so much fun, I am looking forward to a return trip.

The night I stayed there was a couple with a boat on the docks. They played music that had the whole resort partying. They were even pooring wine for anybody near by. Was a great time, with great guests. Would definitely come back.

Beautiful rooms, views, food. The whole resort is like paradise. The only thing I didn't like was the TV service lol. I recommend a Chromecast or HDMI cable. I will be returning again soon!

Stay away. They think they're a 5 star resort but they're not. 6 am this morning power drills right next to my room at 6am. I called the front desk they said they would stop, again, I called and same thing. Ridiculous, I mean absolutley ridiculous. This is where people vacation and you should not be woken up by the sound of power drills at 6am. Besides the noise, pool is horrible, food selection minimal and has more people shaking their head than eating. Stay somewhere else, trust me on this one.

We were greeted like old friends upon arrival. Treated like family during our stay and felt very welcome by everyone from the front desk, to the concierge and housekeeping. Everyone was very friendly and we will definitely be back. Be sure and get the oceanfront room. The room was great and the view was gorgeous. Felt like Paradise!

Beautiful, newly renovated resort. Soon after arriving we were greeted by dave the head concierge. After quickly checking us in we were escorted by dave and another concierge to our room where they helped us get settled in and made sure all of our questions were answered. They recommended numerous places that we could keelp our family entertained during our stay. Will update you at the end of our trip. So far we are really pleased.

Beautiful hotel and premise. Hotel room was gorgeous. Porcelain floors through out. Fresh painted walls. Updated bathrooms. Beautiful balcony views. Great hotel for the price. They have a hammock and a beach.

We stayed here over spring break and it was awesome. Great staff, good breakfast, beautiful beach and pool. Fabulous! Definitely coming back some day.
