We loved South Seas Resort can’t wait to return. Everything was perfect.

Outstanding stay8/2022! Room was finally renovated — new furniture, mattress, pillows, blackout drapery, fresh paint, new wood like floors — beautiful color palate. Parking is always an issue — somehow they need to provide a place for golf carts to park — not where cars park. Pool was fun — great bar drinks and service. So sad to leave, even though we live only 1 hour away. Looking forward to more future visits.

Don’t care for the beach units— they are very dated and the buildings are not well-maintained. The golf and tennis villas and the harbor side hotel are much nicer.

This could be a nice place, however, don’t leave your condo……. For anything…… ever. I have been driving around with my son for an hour looking for a parking spot. When I called the front desk I was met with “We know it’s a problem, and we don’t have a solution. Keep driving around until someone leaves. ” I’m sorry, but if you are a guest at the resort you should have a parking spot, period.

As a Christmas gift, my hunny booked us a trip to South Seas to celebrate our anniversary of the day we met. We had the absolute best time soaking up the beautiful southwest Florida views, enjoying fantastic food and the romantic atmosphere. We have to positively note, upon our checkout we noticed we left behind a single special shell we picked it together, just one very important shell. Absolutely heartbroken, we called the resort immediately in hopes our room hadn't been turned over yet and maybe we'd be able to retrieve it… well aware that the shell served zero importance to anyone else, we were fully ready to come to the disappointing terms… well. They found our shell! and went above and beyond to deliver it to the gate gaurd with the sweetest presentation. We feel a proper thank you is due to the quick acting receptionist, Angela the head of housekeeping and the maids! We are beyond grateful! Picture of presentation below. This is a great vacation place beautiful weather, pools, Beaches, food wad great and plenty of water Activities to do we went kayaking great tour guide highly recommend it. We also went on the shelling cruise.

We came by boat and spent 2 nights…had a great time and staff was nice. Bathroom/showers were very clean and had privacy, towels, and soap, shampoo, lotion, and hair dryers provided. We used the gas grills and cooked a steak dinner for 10 on a beautiful night. Pool area was lively and fun. Food was good at the restaurant. (did not try harborside restaurant but it looked good, too). Ate at Doc Fords the first night which was a short trolley ride away. Will go back.

All I can say about our experience at South Seas is that it could have been worse. My wife and I were looking forward to a chance to really relax and enjoy the ocean views — which were promised with our very expensive beach villa. Well, we were on the second floor and though we could see the ocean, the predominant feature of our view was a pool house. Worse, the noise at the pool from small children was constant from 9am to 9pm. Sitting out on our screened porch lost all appeal. When I asked about switching to another room, I was simply told nothing was available. It was a disappointing week.

Room wasn’t clean, had blood / bodily fluids on the back of the bathroom door. Service of the room cannot be accommodated (cleaning / towels / trash). Even after more than 24 hours notice provided, towels were not delivered and sofa bed not made up. Ice maker in the fridge was not working, big hole on the bottom spitting ice into the bottom of the unit. Come home one evening came home to a cock roach in the bathroom. Management offered a late check out to help compensate for the issues. Confirmed it twice, then tried to revoke it after car service and plane reservations were already made. Can’t use the pandemic as an excuse for poor service and poor management. Sent email to the general manager, who never acknowledged receipt. Simply forwarded it to the manager on duty (Amanda who was wonderful, but Mary Beth the daytime manager tried to revoke the late checkout the day we were leaving). The beaches, pool and other amenities were wonderful. The workers were wonderful, but the management fell down. This was our third trip to south seas, and I don’t think we will be back. If you have bodily fluids on a door, can’t get a sofa bed made up and cannot get fresh towels, something is wrong. These are minor requests. Which is a shame since it really is a wonderful resort.

Beautiful place to unwind and relax. Never knew I liked "shelling" so much. Hum…

Not quite what we expected based off the travel agent’s info but the room and facilities were great. Didn’t know the resort was cashless, so if you come be prepared to put a large deposit on an expense account for use during your stay. This is normal apparently, but we weren’t made aware of it beforehand so that was a bit annoying…not the resorts fault however.

Beautiful landscaping and a wonderful view of the beaches. Close walk to many shops and restaurants!

We recently visited the South Sea Island Resort in Captiva, Florida. What an amazing property! There is so much to do and the views are spectacular. It was extremely clean and not crowded. The food at the Crooked Snook pool bar was awesome. (We highly recommended the jerk chicken wings! ) The staff was very friendly and made us feel so welcome. This resort definitely exceeded our expectations. Country Miller, the Assistant Director of Engineering went above and beyond for us. You can tell that he loves his job and the resort. We will be back with our friends & families and will stay longer!

The wait staff at the restaurant overlooking the marina provided excellent service. They even serenaded my brother at breakfast on his 70th birthday!
The trolley is as much fun today as it was 20 years ago, when we first visited.

We LOVE this place! It's literally paradise! My family and I have been here 4 years in a row. I love Southseas! The staff is friendly and the resort is clean and fun for all ages. There will always be Debbie downers with bad reviews… don't pay attention to them this place is paradise!

We had a wonderful first visit to the resort. The accommodations were great. The pools and amenities were clean and beautiful. The staff and emoyees were more than helpful. The weather and sunsets were incredible.

Had a wonderful time and the staff was amazing. I couldn’t ask for anything more. It was very relaxing but had all the activities we wanted.

Horrible service. I encourage you to read the other reviews on Yelp and take heed. I wish I would have read them first. We arrived at 2pm and were told our room wasn't ready. They would text us by 4pm check in time. This didn't happen. At 6:36 we finally received the text that our room was ready. This was Monday. On Friday we had friends join us and as I type at 6:50pm they have yet to receive their room. They like us have been trying to call, btw, no one ever answers the phones here.
We are furious at the delays and lack of service from the front desk, housekeeping delays, and quality of the so called Seaside Villas. They are not Seaside Villas, they are one bedroom apartments in large apartment buildings. See image of the view. They aren't on the beach, there is a large marsh between the building and ocean. Oh, during the Coronavirus pandemic which is still going on during June, they aren't cleaning daily, no trash removal, no fresh towels. Instead of cleaning more often they only clean rooms now before and after you checkin and checkout. Beware also that amenities are few and far between. You have to travel around this property which spreads out over several miles with many single private homes, many condos, timeshares, spread about. I wouldn't call this a resort, and certainly not high quality. See images of the so called resort shower heads and craftsmanship. I feel like I'm at a 70's roach motel. For the money, I would highly suggest looking elsewhere.

After being coup up 3 months, this is just what the Dr ordered. Great place to relax, see the beauty of nature, and see the sun go down. Will be back this fall!

Great Marina! They do a great job with groups!

Our vacation as a couple (no kids! ) was better than we could have dreamed off. The employees were very nice and were always willing to assist with every need. Our Tennis Villa Suite was perfectly clean and updated. The furniture and decor was all brand new. We had more fun than expected while riding bikes, laying out on the beautiful Sunset beach, lounging by the pools, and eating at the farmer’s market. We ate at every restaurant on the property but Harborside’s seafood and the boozy milkshakes at Scoops and Slices were our favorites! Curly the bartender went out of his way to serve us; service and skills! We ran into local residents each day, by chance, who gave us personal tours and genuinely wanted us to love it there. We certainly will return with or without the kids.

My husband and I just left today and can't wait to return. We were married there 2 days ago and every aspect was amazing. The staff was exceptional, the room was amazing. The chef from Harbourside contacted me personally to help plan the menu. Resort staff helped arrange the wedding (and even grabbed a seashell for us off the beach as a memory token). There is so very much more I can rave about the beauty of the scenery, the nature and the pristine grounds. I will give nothing but positive feedback. Loved every minute of our stay.

Had a fabulous stay here. They have trolly that takes you from one end of resort to other. The staff is fabulous. They arranged a special sunset dinner for us on the beach! It was magical! Dolphins swim by the pool area. Great for couples and families.

The resort is magnificent and staff welcoming. Our beach villa could use some attention and repairs. We enjoyed area restaurants too.

We thought this would be a good holiday getaway, wrong! Very unhelpful staff and way overpriced for what your getting. When we booked several weeks ago we were told we could get a golf cart, no problem. When we arrived we were told no golf carts available you should have reserved one weeks ago. TV’s didn’t work, were not even given a room key upon check in. All the desk staff was concerned about was getting a large amount of money put on my account. Would definitely not recommend this place nor will we be returning.

This resort is not just beautiful, it’s so relaxing and fun! The sunsets are amazing. I went for a run in the morning around the golf course and to the gym after, which was very nice & clean. The staff is friendly & helpful. Pools are great aswell and the room was clean and very big with a nice view! Lots of things to do and activities and great for a short stay to relax and get their mind off! Very funny that there are little rabbits everywhere.

Just spent our first visit here! We were floored with how open, friendly, and family oriented the atmosphere was! Our daughter is 2, doesn’t quite fully talk yet and isn’t the greatest ”share-er” of toys… The resort provides simple toys and inflatables to little ones, and sooo many families with other children were so understanding of these struggles! Not to mention the beach entry pools that made it so easy for my husband and I to chill in the shallows while our toddler splashed about! We will definitely be returning to explore more of the facilities and the island!

The resort itself is so stunningly beautiful and well kept. The desk staff all the way down to housekeeping is wonderfully on point and attentive to every need you desire… Third time here and already planning a fall trip.

I visit captiva south seas resort every two years. It’s my gift to my family, it’s gets better every year. We alternate beach days with pool days. We visit the wildlife refuge on Sanibel Island for an activity. We walk to sunset beach every night for the picture perfect views. We eat out together as a family once, the rest of the we we have family dinners. We all love the views, the weather and the accommodations. We stay at the cottages between the pools and the golf course.

Nice pools, golf, views and overall nice resort. The red tide negatively impacted things this year, but the resort is still great. We have 2 weeks of a timeshare throughout maintenance weeks, so each year there's some sort of construction upkeep in our complex to update things like kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, etc. This year is no different, but my complaint is that the workers conducting the maintenance are staying in the empty units overnight, making noise, partying, smoking, etc. As a paying guest, this is unacceptable. I guarantee the unit owners did not give permission for the maintenance personnel to use their timeshare week. I also guarantee that the unit owners for this week still had to pay their yearly fee even though they weren't using the unit, which means maintenance personnel are partying in their timeshare on the owner's dollar. Like I said, unacceptable.

This place is amazing. It is pricey, but you’re obviously paying for the location, ambiance, and amenities. You really don’t have to leave the resort for anything. We got a 2 bedroom bay view condo and it was beautiful. Quiet at night, plenty to do during the day, perfect for families, small kids, and teenagers. Will definitely be back again!

The resort itself is very pretty. The room we were in was not updated and was very expensive for the lack of quality. Beds had low quality mattresses and kitchen needed more cooking supplies. Pools are great. No coolers by pool… food was good and service was nice. Overall, it was a lovely resort, however, rooms are not worth the money.

I've been coming here for 25 years. It use to be a 5 star location with a 4 star management. It's still a 5 star location but management is a 2. Workers speed through the resort you fear of getting hit while biking or walking. They are not friendly in the stores or rentals huts. Kids have a slide pool and a baby walk in pool but are still allowed in the 3rd pool which is smallest. I heard a jet ski renter employees (dark beard) tell a guest to get off the beach he was trying to park the jet skis. They were waiting to rent. And the prices $$$$

Great place to be! Beautiful beach! The cottages are small with 2 beds, 2 bath but sleep 8. The 3 pools and spa are lovely and located just feet from the ocean. Sunset beach is a great place to be with complimentary chairs, towels and umbrellas. It's a great place to go shelling and the shops all around are one of a kind. Land's End and different areas get their own pool but the shared ones are mentioned above. The golf course is very pretty. The reserve is filled with animals that are a joy to see.

So far the experience has been great. My only complaint is that they don't offer water bottles in the room. The tap water tastes terrible. Even if they wanted to charge for water they could provide bottles in the fridge and charge for each one that's used. When you're in the sun all day staying hydrated us important! The beaches are incredible though!

We stayed at South Seas for 4 days in the Marina Villas. The room featured a separate bedroom and living room with a full kitchen. It made for great accommodations. Our view over the Marina was spectacular. The resort property was in excellent shape, including the amazing pool area. They have two large water slides that the kids loved. We rented a golf cart to get around the 2 mile long property and I highly recommend doing this. They have a free trolley, but it was great to get around on our own. Beaches were great and the staff were very friendly. Only reccomendation would be to extend the hours of the water slides. After dinner the kids were bummed they were closed. Overall, fantastic resort.

We live in Fort Myers and just stayed in the marina on our boat. Marina staff very friendly and accomodating. Food was delicious at the Harbourside restaurant. The pool was clean and staff also very friendly and accomodating. The Sunset Celebration is a must do! Very easy to get around the resort the with trolley. Make sure you head down to Doc Fords for a meal or two. Getting ready to book my next "staycation" for next weekend! Truly paradise!

Amazing resort, quiet and restful. Staff is some if the friendliest I have ever met. Great sailing school located there on the resort as well. Come stay and enjoy a relaxing vacation while learning how to sail and charter your own boat from offshore sailing school.

We went there for Mothers day weekend and took the whole family, getting two rooms. We purposely got a cottage for our matriarch and a villa for ourselves but upon arriving found that there were no elevators at the cottages, and my mother in law couldn't climb the stairs. They happily moved them over to a comparable villa at no additional charge and were super helpful the whole weekend. The golf carts were fun, my wife and son both loved them, and we ate at something like three restaurants on site, all were great, especially the breakfast! We loved it so much that we used the phrase "next time"more times than I could remember. Next time can't come soon enough!

Amazing resort. Everything you need is here. Great for kids, couples, families. Take advantage of everything. Go kayaking with dolphins, island hopping, fishing for tarpon. Food and drinks are good and reasonable.

Rooms are nice. Perfect location to the beach. Places to eat on property. We found out they are charging us a extra $800 on top of the $700 we already paid. Room was $365 a night for 3 nights. It should be just a tad over $1000. The math doesn't add up but we'll have to discuss that with them before we leave. Edit. Never did update this. All was taken care of. Two thumbs up. 5 stars.

We had the absolute best time this past weekend! I have never been to Captiva so this was a real treat. The beach was wonderful, and the people were great. Even though we were there for the Gerth/Lee wedding, I would have loved to have a list or booklet of all of the offerings/goings on available to us. I will be back!

I have been coming to the South Seas Island resort since 2003 and in last 6 years about 3 tines a year. I am staying with my family here at this time. I agree with many reviews here: the good and the bad ones. We have been coming here so much that we know what to expect because we stayed in many different accommodations in different parts of the resort. Now, we know where to book which is Marina Villas in last 5 years. It’s a very beautiful resort and we come here mostly because of my husband’s love for fishing and fishing here is absolutely crazy amazing. However, there are many areas for improvement in this resort. There is almost always something wrong in the room. Either coffee maker broken (as of now) or towel rack broken (a guy came to fix it upon our arrival). Last year, when we arrived the toilet was broken and had to be replaced. The restaurants are horrible, very expensive and the food quality is below any level for this type of a resort. The menus are boring, lacking in variety and rarely changed. A few years ago we went for breakfast and it’s ridiculous because I live in Florida in Tampa Bay and we have been to 3 star hotels for buffet breakfast which were way better than here. Sunset beach is a beautiful place, but you can’t move your chair any further than designated so basically you need to be squashed with other people. I really don’t like that. However, we like the place for many other reasons and come here frequently.

For the amount of money we spent, we expected more. The room was clean, but aged. The staff was outstanding, but we couldn't find a chair at the pools. One of the meals we purchased (breakfast at Harbourside) was really poor, but on another day, it was fine. If we had paid a lower rate, we probably wouldn't be so picky, but not for what we shelled out. Overall, we plan on going back at some time in the future, but not unless we get a deal.

South Seas was part of a Jet Blue destination package I booked and it was absolutely everything it said it would be. Our room was Harborside facing the marina. The view spectacular and the room was perfect. Booked two outings with Captiva Cruises and loved both but especially the day trip to Cabbage Key. Sunset Beach was a 5 minute walk from our room and was amazing. Loved the live music! The pool area is large and nestled right on the water. To our delight the dolphins put on quite the show which we watched from our lounge chairs. The staff at every venue were friendly and accommodating. Food was great. Can't say enough about this little piece of paradise. We will definitely be back!

The area is nice but South Seas misses attention to detail. Dirty rooms, bedding and bathroom need to be replaced. The first room was filthy and they did give us a new room upon request. It wasn't much better from a comfort perspective. The staff does a good job but not enough help in pool and beach areas. The beach and pool areas are very nice. Hard to give them a a good reference when they're charging high end fees for amenities that need updates.

Enjoying place but frustrated at the same time! The only down fall that we have had is when we checked in, they put a hold on your credit card/debt card for $250 a night that you are here. So the $750 that we could used (and we're planning on using) to go around the island and try new things or eat at restaurants can not be used! So basically you took all of our play money while we are on vacation! This is not in the fine print or any print for that matter so you are screwed when you get here! … Edited 3/11/18 After staying at South Seas I've upgraded our review to 3 stars. Only because we did have an incredible time. Our Villa was very clean and comfortable, the resort was quiet with a beautiful beach. We did not eat at the resort and there is extremely limited things to do once the sun goes down on the resort so you find yourself leaving every night. Our major complaint is still the ridiculous hold they put on your card at check in. They already charge a premium rate to stay there and a very high daily resort fee but to demand all inclusive at check in is just wrong. The explanation given was everything being cashless is for the guests convenience. I'm not sure how that benefits any guest as we'd have had to eat and drink an awful lot to use up $250 a day!? I am by no means trying to deter anyone from staying at South Seas as it is extremely beautiful and we had a great time but be cautious!

From the outside, some resort buildings look incredibly dated and not well maintained. Thankfully inside, the bedroom is fine, with a very comfortable bed and clean linens. The bathroom and kitchen are dated but are at least very clean. Overall, this is a 3 star resort to me, not 4. Closer to a Holiday Inn than a Hilton. Workers were generally nice. Oh and don't try and find your room after dark for the first time. Building and room numbers are impossible to see at night (at least on the green buildings).

We spent a week at South Seas and had a great time. The weather was crummy and cold for the first 4 full days but all the staff went out of their way to help us in every way. We fully enjoyed our stay and will definitely return next year.

We are staying on our boat in the marina. The marina is very nice. The Harbor Master and staff are very helpful and nice. The Christmas decorations are fabulous. We've played tennis everyday gone to the beach everyday everything's nice. We went to the pool today it was way too crowded the only lounges we could find were next to the closed hot tub.

I stayed in an owner's condo so I wasn't an official guest, but the property is lovely, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The beach is just down a pathway and there are three pools to choose from. It's great to have Doc Ford's right there too for meals, and is in walking distance from local shops and restaurants. My only complaint is the housekeeping staff. They are incredibly loud, letting doors slam shut — I had to ask 3 times for them to keep it down and they were quite rude. Instead of walking up to talk with each other they yell across hallways and down stairs, and more than once I came upon someone talking on their phone (clearly personal calls) sitting in the breezeway for at least 30 minutes, and I heard every word. It's supposed to be peaceful and quiet, and it is, except for the disruptive housekeeping staff. I was awoken numerous times. Other than that it is a wonderful place to visit for every age group.

Best hotel and value for price on the island given that options are limited. Do walk in reservation if you don't have kids as you get the best rate. Clean. Beach rooms aren't really on the beach itself but 5 min walk over. Beach amenities could be better and service in that no one to setup umbrellas and chairs for you where you like. Other than that, great beach and water with lots of seashelling.

We love The resort. We came 3 months for our wedding anniversary and had an amazing and relaxing time. So we're back and brought our little one and he loves the resort as well. The rooms are spacious, clean and great view. The staff is amazing.

Staff so average friendly, our balcony furniture and the icemaker were broken, but nothing big. The toilet door once again had a window instead of a closed door. The maid came in every morning because we didn't have such a sign for outside at the door and even after the third time she didn't think of getting us one.
Great location at the end of the island. Huge apartment in the tennis villa had with dishwasher, double door fridge and everything pipapo in the kitchen. Very quiet, beautiful balcony, not far to the beach, internet works top. Parking is possible directly at the house. Shuttle runs very early to very late through the whole facility, some leisure activities possible. The facility is huge, well maintained and has a very new look. Access is only possible when booking, so there is plenty of space on the beach. Sand and water quality are good, you can collect a lot of mussels here.

At the end of Captiva Island on the white sandy beach lies this Island Resort. Despite its location, it is easy to reach by car. From here you can take nice long walks on the white sandy beach or rent a boat and discover the other islands. A small shuttle bus connects the complex, which also has a golf course, as well as some restaurants. The location is exclusive and you can only enter here with special correction. Very nice place to relax and relax :) Always!

We jut love this place for a relaxing weekend away. The employees are always friendly and helpful, the grounds and facilities are always impeccably kept (although there is some damage still evident from hurricane Irma) and the beaches are beautiful. I love the markets on site and nearby, I love the full kitchens in the units and I always hate leaving. This place is a treasure. Perfect Florida getaway spot.

Gorgeous resort! I stayed here and attended a wedding — everything was beautiful and we had a really nice time. Great for families. Our room was large and spacious. Fun time. If you're interested in visiting Captiva Island this is a great place to stay!

What a place. Gorgeous views, Friendly staff and paradise all around you. Our family came here stayed a tennis villa and really had a great time. Most things are with in walking distance. There is even a Starbucks. For those that aren’t there is the trolly to get you around. Lots of kids activities or a great place to just get a way and enjoy and relax. Can’t wait to come back again.

We have been going to the Pink Shell at Fort Myers Beach for our Anniversary the last 6 years. This year we wanted to try something new, so we booked a 5 day 4 night stay at the South Seas Island Resort. From the first day everything has been wonderful. We Love the free trolley, it is very convenient and makes getting around the beautiful resort very easy. Julia in customer service was great assisting us with items we needed but could not bring on an airplane. The staff was incredible especially Shelby and Kennedy that work at the Pointe Restaurant. We received top notch service and they made us feel like we had known them for years. We will highly recommend South Seas Island Resort to our family and friends. We are looking forward to returning with our kids and grandkids to the best resort that we have ever stayed at! Thank You.

Great place for families. Overall the facilities are run down, but the activities are really well organized and put on. The food is decent and the service ranges from good to great. The kids staff and most of the hospitality staff is awesome! Everyone staying here is friendly which makes for a fun beach vacation.

You couldn't ask for a more beautiful location. Great beaches and pool areas. Plenty of food options at the resort and around the area. Rooms could have been cleaner but were not terrible by any means. Very relaxing.

Some rooms are very nice. Others are not that great. The location is absolutely beautiful. Every staff member we've come across has been very nice. Overall I would stay here again but choose either an upgraded room or a room on the north side of the island with an ocean view.

My wife and I had a spectacular week here. The staff was top notch. From check in, to the beach and back everyone working had a smile on their face and helped out. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The pools were convenient and clean. Secluded but not too secluded. Family friendly but still cozy. I loved this place.

Probably the closets you will get to the Caribbean feel, stateside. Gated community on Captiva island. Our condominium was a little dated. However, everything seem to work fine except for the Wi-Fi; which I had to call tech support to gain access for one device. The staff was nothing short of phenomenal. Daily room service was impeccable. Jeanelle was always attentive to our needs. Plan on paying (a premium price) for dinners, lunch, etc. A box burger with kettle chips at the north beach is $15. Thus, preparing your own meals will save you $$$. The north end has 3 fabulous pools, beautifully landscaped and great fun for the kids. Cabanas, loungers, towels a plenty. Both beaches have sand toys for the kids, as well as flotation devices. You can rent wave runners, parasail etc. Overall, I would recommend South Seas Island Resort and would come back. We were also sparred the red tide. Ptl!

Staying in the tennis villas, which are actually condo units. Nicely appointed and comfortable. Bathroom is tiny and doors/baseboards could use a paint job but overall it's great for a small family. Spent day at pool complex on North point and 2 yr old had a blast. Waterslides, beach style pool, tiki bar, etc. Renting a golf cart is a must, or need to use trolley system.

The location and grounds were were absolutely beautiful! What a lovely place for vacation or to hold a special event. I met a gentleman who grew up at the resort as a child when it was a working farm. Learning the history of the island and resort made me love the place even more!

South Seas Island Resort is great. You have access to the beach (with chairs and umbrellas set up for you), multiple pools (one even has water slides), several restaraunts and eateries, and there is a post office, Starbucks, grocery store, and multiple little stores. And there's two trolleys that run back and forth that you can hop on to get somewhere faster.

We have been going to South Seas island resort for over 50 years as a family and have seen it grow from small humble beginnings into an industrial resort complex. While we bemoan the things that have been lost to us in this fantastic place, what has replaced it has its own benefits. This is a fantastic place to take your family or significant other.

South seas resort was an amazing stay. Beautiful exteriors by the beach. Fun water slides for the kids. Great food at Scoops and Slices. Drinks were also amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would deffinently stay here again.

My husband and I enjoyed a 3 night stay. We loved our 2 bedroom beach villa and easy access to the beach. The beach and pool attendants were great and did an excellent job providing us with towels and chairs. The housekeeping crew was wonderful as well. Definitely a family friendly environment and we can't wait to return.

Just returned from a four-night stay at South Seas. We hosted our daughter, son in law and 2 grandkids in a three bedroom beach villa. Every aspect of our vacation was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we were checked in by Neil to the time of our checkout by Malissa, every South Seas employee we encountered was so friendly and helpful. Our accommodations were fantastic. So much space for the six of us and a wonderful view of the beach. We used the trolley quite a bit to go down to the north end for the kiddie pools. The kids loved the trolley and we never had to wait more than a few minutes. My 3 year old granddaughter got to go to Mermaid School and had a photo shoot done. Truly the highlight of her vacation! There is so much to do at this resort. My husband even participated in a fishing tournament. There are many dining options too. Loved Doc Ford's! We were so sad to leave and can't wait to return.

Nice family oriented resort. Lots of activities. Rooms are more like a vacation rental than a hotel room. They are well appointed and maintained but slightly dated. Swimming pools are nice and lots of beaches nearby.

Historically, we have vacationed in The Keys. This spring break we were up for trying a new destination. Today, we just returned from a 6-night/7-day stay at South Seas Island Resort, and wished we could have stayed longer. The primary reason for 3 stars is our accommodations were not what we expected. Outdated is one thing to deal with, but the cleanliness of our 1 bed/2 bath villa was terrible (e. G. The outside of our refrigerator was covered with looked like marinara sauce, carpet in bedroom looked old and felt damp, we encountered 2 large cockroaches on 2 different days). Place just didn't look or feel clean to us. Daily housekeeping was okay. We were surprised by the sometimes long waits for trolley (there appears to be only 1 trolley operating at the resort), wished there were water fountains along the 1.7 mile stretch from the north to south side of the islands, and restroom facilities on South Beach. What we did love about the resort is the location on Captiva Island (breath-taking! ), loved the different activities offered, variety of pools and having close access to 2 great beaches (especially Sunset) and watching the sunsets. Loved the tiki bar and view of the Gulf of Mexico from the bar and pool. Our son LOVED the 'scoutabout' mission on the resort (great entertainment, not to mention learning about the island's great points of interest), and the waterslides were huge hits. Enjoyed seeing dolphins a number of times and going on a cruise to with Captiva Cruises.

Beautiful island and beautiful resort, staff is friendly and helpful, good choices for food and bar. Only thing worth mentioning is based on room rate I assumed the rooms would be luxurious. They're nice, but not luxury.

If I had written the review at the beginning of my stay, it probably would have been fewer stars. Upon arrival, we were assigned a beach villa that had mold on the curtains and stains on the couch. The staff moved us to another villa with no problem, and after that the rest of the week was spectacular. I love that in addition to the main pool, there are many smaller pools scattered throughout the resort. The villa was nice, clean, and comfortable with direct beach access. The beaches all have chairs, unlimited towels, and staffers. Some, but not all, of the beaches have bar service. The resort offered pretty much everything you could want, including a free trolley service for transportation to all areas of the resort. There are restaurants, bars, shopping areas, and activities including yoga, water sports, running trails, tennis courts, etc. This is a family resort, so you would have to venture out of the resort to find any type of night life. I would definitely return.

We were looking for a quiet spring break vacation area and we found it. area is very family friendly and we liked having multiple options for activities through the day onsite. Pros: 1. Quiet 2. Large Property/very diverse activity selection Cons: 1. Older property could stand some updating and refurbishing but it does appear they are working on it. 2. If you are addicted to or have to have Wi-Fi, bring your own, the wireless system is no better then dial up. 3. Housekeeping system is a little wonky, they will not come in the room without you being there. SO no sprinting out to the beach etc. Had to call a few times to have them drop in for cleaning. Overall we were happy with everything.

Staff and Housekeeping were outstanding. Beaches were great and the staff there to assist you did a great job. Room and bathroom a bit outdated but kept really clean. The pool staff was all over you offering assistance. My only issue was the WI-Fi where unless you were next to the router the service was erratic. Also the TVs were great all 1080p LED flat screen but the service was 780 which left much to be desired.

The 1000 dollar a night villa included moldy ceilings and bathrooms, stained tile, absolutely understocked cookware I kitchen and no room service provided by the hotel. That was the highlight of my review. Now to the negatives; the pool area was swarmed with radioactive seagulls that would probably take a french fry out of your mouth if you didnt swallow it whole. The hotel staff — including the concierge person were rude like they had a doctorate in it. Everytime more and more rude. Their new years eve party was sad and the food in harbourside grill was just above ok. To top off our trip, the people and employees of captiva are so incredibly unfriendly! No one seems happy and everyone snaps at you for asking a question. So to be quite honest, unless you 1. Own a 10M dollar property on the beach 2. Have 10k a week to rent one 3. Are spendig the day on the beach only Captiva is a don't!

Pretty much nothing good to say. Room ready upon arrival? No. Staff around to help? No. Decent Wifi? No. 4 star room? Not even close. Quiet? No. Walking away feeling like you got decent value out of your stay… not a chance. Just the unfortunate feeling of being robbed.

Nice resort with a quaint location. The property is large and spread out which can be a little challenging. Our room was in need of some upkeep. Overall, a good experience, though.

The south beach part of the resort is definitely not 5 stars and 4 is stretching it. Bathrooms and kitchens are way too small. The amenities are all on the north beach. Luckily the trolley is there to shuttle you all over the place. The beach is great. Try fishing by the marina on the south beach — you'll be the only ones there. We were here with a 6 year old and a 4 year old. Most likely we will come back but it's not Disney Aulani or anything…

We just had our wedding on November 13th and it was honestly a dream! Not only was our wedding beautiful and the staff every single one them are so incredibly nice! We just couldn't get enough of the resort we had so much fun, Neil and Kelsey were awesome with helping everything go smoothly for the wedding and our guests raved about the wedding and the resort! Everyone loved it! We will definitely be back every year that we can! Thank you to all the staff at south seas for being so nice and accommodating we truly had the best week of our lives. We love you guys!

Amazing vacation. Relaxing. If you are looking for crazy night life. This is not the place for you. Great for romance and families. Trolley service included with your stay is a plus. Great pools. Wonderful sunrise and sunsets. Dolphin and manatee right in the harbor. Beautiful marina if you have a boat. Starbucks and Doc Fords Rum Bar great. Plenty to do. Can't wait to go back.

Without a doubt this is one of the best resorts on the island. Plenty of amenities, lots to do, and the rooms are fantastic. Restaurants and other attractions within walking distance.

Our family stayed at South Seas for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. It was one of the best experiences we've had on a family vacation. Neil Swetz and his staff provided us with excellent Customer Service. Everyone was very friendly and treated us like family. The servers at the pool were great. There were lots of activities to keep the kids busy and plenty for the adults to do. It was our first time there and we're already planning our next trip back. We had such a great time, we've decided to make South Seas our annual family vacation spot. We look forward to returning to South Seas for many years to come.

Customer service was lacking. We were greeted by a young lady who seemed like she would rather be doing anything else but greeting us. We had a condo on north point. Room was updated but the air did not work well at all. We never slept under the covers. The food at the restaurants was average. The beach area and main pool were great. We ended up leaving a day early and when we told the main desk about the air and why we were leaving early they never said anything. When we returned home we received an email from them thanking us for our staying and giving us the link to book a return stay. Never asked how our stay was?

Every time I go my family has an amazing time. 20 plus years and counting.

Very pricey for not high quality. Our double room had warn furniture but a comfortable bed and only had slightly warm water, yuck.

Love this Resort It' is a great family get away just a short trip from the Tampa. Suggest an afternoon at the poolside TIKI it will certainly take your mind off your worries.

My husband and I have stayed here several times. We love everything about this place and will keep on coming back.

We had 2 wonderful vacations here. Then in July we visited and it had really gone down hill. On our previous two visits housekeeping was excellent and everything was well maintained. This time there were some huge issues that should have been addressed. First, my daughter got pink eye from dirty pool water. We noticed the water looked cloudy and we asked about it. We were told it was because so many people in the pool had on sunscreen and it made the water cloudy. Against our better judgement we let our children swim and my daughter got pink eye. I know there was a problem with the pool because the next day when we returned to the pool area the pool was closed and the person handing out towels said there was no chlorine in the pool, something had gone wrong and that the it would be closed to rebalance the chemicals. Also, there were wasps swarming around the pool by the beach. I called to alert the grounds crew there may be a wasp nest by the pool. Nothing was done. On the third day my daughter (the same one who got pink eye) was stung by a wasp. Housekeeping was only so-so, previously it had been excellent. My children did love the trolley and all the activities. We saw manatees in the harbor and loved walking around the grounds. My kids loved to visit Scoops for ice cream, they enjoyed the water slide, and to ride bikes around the island. Overall, our most recent trip was not worth the money. I called and emailed management, but never got a response.

I had to stay there for 2 nights for a conference. The staff is rude and not trying to help. 1. Asked for directions to find my room. The guy at the front desk was showing me how annoyed he was with my request 2. Asked to check out 1 hour later. Was told no. Not very nicely. Overall the staff is doing its job, but it definitely not customer service oriented. The room: they are ok: clean, large, a home feeling but nothing fancy. Calling them ``villas`` is a misnomer Does not really feel like a resort.

The only reason I am giving the resort two stars is the spartan condition of the "villa" in which we stayed. There was a leak from the refrigerator that the maintenance man would not fix. Housekeeping was arbitrary, since I had to call one of the evenings for the room to be cleaned. The noise factor was also a problem since the "villa" we stayed in was actually a worn down one bedroom with a pull out couch that had a very porous ceiling. We heard every sound made by the folks upstairs. There is nothing luxurious about the accommodations. On top of that, all the activities were on the other side of the island which required us to drive there or wait for the trolley which rarely stopped at our stop forcing us to drive and hope for a parking spot to open up on the north side of island so we could use the water slide and pool. Nothing on the website indicates any of these exceptions to the luxurious facade it portrays on its website. If I plan to go back to captiva again, I'd rather rent a house there instead and stay the week. I did not get my money's worth and felt misled.

My fourth time coming here, this place is geting better. Use to be so so service, now its all good. Pools are excellent, beaches nice and clean. Prices are good. One word: its all good.

I went to South Seas Island Resort for a conference in January. My room was harborside; very comfortable with a nice, big bath. We had dedicated rooms for all the events and the service was incredible. The wait staff was polite, kind, and super helpful. They even catered a luau on the beach for us our last night and the food was *stellar. * It looked like they had great amenities for families on the island, though we were so busy in sessions that I didn't get to see everything. Can't wait to take my family back later this year.

So I made reservations in February for November of the same year through Hotwire. Yet when I call to check on my reservation with the resort, they said they put me in a room with one King Bed. Meanwhile, Hotwire guarantees a room that accommodates 4 adults. NEITHER the South Seas Resort nor Hotwire will alter the reservation to simply make it two beds instead of one. They both outright refuse, and blame it on the other. No one can help me 8 months away from check in? Seriously? I would understand if I was trying to cancel, change, alter, revoke, or delete my reservation. But I am not. I want to stay there. I want to like it — I want to use Hotwire again. But instead of attempting to please a customer who just pent $600 with them, they both gave me the middle finger. Neither one of them can help me. Both customer service experiences were horrid, and I will be STRONGLY recommending that no one use either service in the future. This is how you treat customers these days? Wow.
