Quick trip and we wanted simple and to be safe. Rocking chairs on the front porch, hummingbirds, and a view from our room. We slept with the windows open and listened to the aspen in the breeze … No Calm app needed. We wanted nothing contemporary, fitness, bar, pool, TV … a great peaceful trip.

Watching hummingbirds is so much fun! I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid. The view is beautiful and it’s a very relaxing place to visit. Highly recommend.

Fabulous food and service in a unique environment. A historical gem.

We dined with them, the hummingbird feeders usually had 5-7 birds on them at any given time, and we were sat where it was about two feet from our table. Amazing place, great service and amazing food!

So we went here after seeing the Stanley Hotel (it had always been on my bucket list) and I can confidently say this place is much creepier from the outside than the Stanley Hotel, which has a million tourist everywhere you turn. But I’m sure the fact that it was late autumn and no one happened to be around certainly added to the creepiness factor. So if you’re a horror fan, I would stay here and save yourself some money, over the Stanley Hotel! Though inside it’s very cozy and inviting, and obviously their key collection is definitely something to see! They have keys from everything to hitlers bunker to Dracula’s castle! It was one of the more amazing things I’ve seen in my life to be honest. And the employees were very nice and helpful, even pointing out the main keys for us! So if you’re in Este Park you have to check this place out!

The soup and salad buffet is outstanding. But you definitely need to leave room for dessert. Their homemade pies are amazing and all calories were removed in the baking process!

Lovely out of the way treat. The library, lounge with fireplace and outside deck are fantastic!

Off the beaten path, a really great historical site. Definitely worth a visit, they also have a restaurant.

I loved this place! It was so cute, quaint and clean. The staff here are AMAZING! Food was delicious. I LOVED the view. Wi-Fi was strong. Coffee and wine was perfect! Will write up a full review on tripadvisor.

Thanks for a great summer. We took family, friends, recommended to others. What a fantastic piece of history, along with delicious salad, soup and muffin selections. Nothing better than a relaxed lunch, watching the hummingbirds and taking in the views, while enjoying the best cornbread in the world. Don’t forget the pie!

Great food if they are EVER open. Been four times and only able to eat once! And then just barely made it in time. This amazing place is for sale. Please someone dedicated to making it successful BUY IT!

Good history and cool key collection. However, windows did not open and lacked curtains. Also, some lights did not turn on. Shared restrooms. Good food, however. Beds have strange overhang, bumped head.

Stopped by to see the key collection room in this historic inn. It is free to visit, and definitely worth a stop, especially if visiting adjacent Lily lake or Twin Sisters. There are keys from around the country and world that have been collected for almost 100 years. Didn't have enough time to read many, but attached to each key is a small description about it. BTW, the property is for sale if you happen to have a spare $3M handy.

I did not stay at the baldpate Inn, I just visited the lobby and looked around a little. It appeared very rustic, quaint, and kind of interesting. The keys room has keys from different historical periods and all around the country. Seems like a spot worth visiting. Others have mentioned that the dining room was good.

Luckily, we only stayed here one night. You can hear every movement made by every other guest around you. I understand it's old, but there is zero sound proofing. No air conditioning, which is fine, but the windows have no screens so leaving them open isn't really an option either. Bathtub in our room was a plus, but not everyone gets a private bathroom. Room was so small it felt almost like a closet which is crazy considering how pricey our stay was!

We have been coming to the Baldpate Inn for decades. It is a must-visit during our regular trips to Estes Park. The soup and salad buffet is simple and tasty. The fresh breads and muffins are wonderful, and do not miss the fresh baked pies. Staff are friendly and accommodating whether you are a guest of the inn, having lunch, or just stopping by to view the key collection. The inn itself is classic and very rustic. It has authentic mountain charm.

I love The Baldpate Inn! I live in Denver and whenever I have out of town guests and we make the trip to Estes Park, I treat them to this charming and unique mountain restaurant. The menu is soup, salads and breads. Some have been a bit skeptical ("Is that all there is? ") but all have come away full and satisfied, especially after finishing with a piece of pie. And the collection of keys is fascinating! We just visited this past weekend, followed by a drive up Trail Ridge Road. A wonderful way to spend the day!

Had the three course breakfast. Got the cinnamon roll to go, because of the gigantic quiche and muffin with fresh raspberries. Good service, good food, amazing location. Watched the hummingbirds fight over the feeders.

Service was slow and disorganized. Soup and salad buffet was 17.00 per person and was very salty and not good. Corn bread was very good. This was extremely disappointing and way too expensive for soup and salad.

First of all, look closely — this is a 2 star hotel that charges $200 I night. It's like the projects of the Rockies. Coal miners are said to have contracted siphilis here — at least that's the legend… Come here if you don't mind not having a bathroom/shower facilities in your own room and have to share the same bathroom with other guests. If you are looking for "rustic" I've spent better nights in third world countries in hotels that do due diligence in terms of maintenance. I wouldn't pay to stay here if it were blizzarding outside and I had to build a snow cave with a spoon. Come here if you don't mind wallpaper and drywall falling off the walls. It took the staff 2 hours to get a room ready. I would avoid this place.

We have been coming here since 1980. Only once in all those years did we find the food not consistent and that was last fall before closing for the season. We returned on opening day 2018 and it was by far the best we have experienced so far! We will return many times this season and bring friends and family. The opening day staff was awesome!

Baldpate Inn is one of our favorite places to visit as we celebrate another Anniversary together… We enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery on the drive up to this charming, unique and quaint secret location… Delicious food as we watch the humming birds darting all around the feeders right next to the windows as we eat! The Key Room is amazing and you could spend hours in there. The staff is awesome, so many young people from all over the world… they are so friendly and enjoyable to visit with. This is indeed… A Treasured Gem and we are anxious to visit again! Thank You.

The Baldpate Inn is a unique, enchanting place! The atmosphere is not for everyone, but with so much history and family charm I recommend at least stopping by to checkout the Key Room Collection! I had the pleasure of working there for the 100th season — I met some fantastic people from all over the world and discovered a hidden gem outside of RMNP.

Rustic, woodsy, and quaint. The location in Estes park is great. Cookies, tea, & juice are served after 8pm. Included breakfast is terrific. Lunch includes homemade soups, breads, and salad. Rooms have a sink but bathroom/showers are shared. The Key room has lots of history if you have time to peruse. The library has a fireplace and some of the books date to 1906. If you're looking for Ritz comfort, this ain't for you. If you want rustic, county charm, come stay a few days and explore the outdoors.

Great cowboy stew. However it is on the spicy side, and the only other option for soup was pumpkin soup. The salad bar was okay. We were led to believe that the pies were included. Pricey for what you get.

Food was excellent, especially the cowboy stew. The best cornbread I've ever had. Unfortunately I can't give 5 stars as we were misled into believing the pie was included. Our server was from Serbia and in his defense I may have misunderstood him. Overall value for money is fair. I did tell the manager and she was defensive. I felt like she was more worried that I was trying to get free food than solving the problem. I suggested a sign stating pie extra. Cost is $16.50/person.

The rooms are rustic but well-kept. It looks old (and, well, it's 100 years old), but it's been updated with electricity, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and one television. Since it's a bed and breakfast, the Baldpate serves food every morning. It's a fantastic 3-course breakfast that starts with fruit and a muffin, followed by the entree, and finished with a cinnamon roll. The fruit, muffin, and entree are different every day, and if there's something you don't want, they'll give you more of something else. All of the service here is friendly, so don't be afraid to talk to someone about problems. I must say, if anyone stays in Estes Park, the Baldpate is definitely worth your consideration.

This was such an amazing experience. The gals serving us were fantastic. The views are gorgeous. The place is tucked away from the touristy Estas Park area. What a nice surprise. The history of the "Key Room" is absolutely fascinating. A great find.

We went for a late lunch. It's a neat place history wise, but I hear it is more of a breakfast place. Lunch is a decent salad bar and (good) oversize portions of pie. They need to cut the pie slices in half. Yum though.

A special place & family tradition for this 1! My choice for a Birthday lunch. Rustic, good homemade foods, college student servers from across the country, historic photo's & keys. Give yourself some extra time to sit out on the patio, step back to a simpler time & enjoy the hummingbirds. The view is incredible! Looking down into the valley>Estes! Cannot recommend enough! Don't forget to go into the key room & sign the book.

The Inn is rustic. I really liked the room, however, I did not like the restaurant. The dinner has no protein. The breakfast had no protein and was basically dessert. Would I stay again? Maybe.

The grounds are really pretty and rustic. Breakfast was decent. However: If you are looking for a room with finishes from Goodwill, falling molding, a three inch gap under your front door and a two inch inch gap under your room-adjoining door, and a community bathroom shared by 30 other room tenants that is not cleaned often enough, then you are in luck. This place is gross and we left as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we had to stay one night because there was no other room availability in the area; we had to sleep on 70 year old mattress in full robes because there were stains all over the bedding. It's one thing to keep the charm of the 100 year old building. It's another thing to not do any up keep and less than acceptable cleaning and charge $130 a night for a room. This was our honeymoon and we ended up having to rent another room; the staff acknowledged that many people end up leaving before their reservations where up but refused to refund our money.

Classic turn of the century inn. Extremely unique aand full of character. Excellent food and vviews and wildlife.

Loved this place. Found it last minute on line. Did not disappoint. Felt like a bit of a step back in time with all the amazing photos and history to read about. Very quaint however because of no AC we had to open the windows which was not a problem at all except they had no screens which meant if no breeze a few annoying flying creatures joined us in our room. Loved watching the hummingbirds outside the dinning area and the vast view. Breakfast each morning was yummy and very filling. Ended up taking what we did not eat for a midday snack. Highly recommend checking out if in Estes Park.

Simple salad bar with some bread choices and cheese cubes, along with two soups. Made for a very satisfying lunch after a hike. Followed up with some delicious apple pie.

This is a beautiful historic place to visit… however I cannot recommend eating at their salad bar/soup bar. We paid $16 per person for the most basic item salad bar, soup, bread and no desserts. I was very underwhelmed with the breads and soups not much flavor. There needs to be a MUCH bigger salad bar with more variety of items offered or the price needs to be greatly reduced. If I could do it over we would see the place and NOT eat there…

This is an amazing and historic place with fantastic views and great, unique meals. My experience is with dining there. The food is all you can eat soup, salad, and breads, with everything made in house. I'm a meat and potatoes person but always find myself more than satisfied here. Such a beautiful view during your meal… request the porch (it is indoors). And don't miss the corn bread.

Great place. Lois Smith is a marvelous innkeeper. The Baldpate has a great feel, enormous warmth, and super food. I've been coming back since 2007

What a dump. Rooms were hot, no air, if you opened window, no screens. Breakfast was horrible, wife and I both threw away the muffins they gave us. Showers were nasty, shared showers and toilets. Completely over priced for the craphole it was.

One of my favorite places on Earth. Ridiculously quaint, crooked, old, and charming. Have the pie and eat it on the porch with wine or coffee and definitely ice cream. Most people can't handle this place; most rooms share a bathroom (a private hall bath). I love it and I am glad most stay away. It's unique, interesting, and has an awesome staff of young people from all over the world. Within walking distance to RMNP and a short drive to downtown Estes Park. Borders the amazing Cheley Colorado Camps. If you're boring, unappreciative, don't like creaky floors, overly fancy, or an LSU graduate/fan, please stay away. Leave this place for the good ones.
