Review of Monarch Mountain Lodge 3*

Absolutely awful. The beautiful pictures on the website are extremely misleading that is NOT what this place is anymore. We drove hours to get to this location to spend the weekend with family to celebrate the holiday. I unfortunately suggested it to everyone and we all drove up together. I was informed by the website that the restaurant was open until 9pm. I even called ahead and was told we couldn't check in until 3 pm because they were "so busy that early check in was not possible". We did not eat dinner during our road trip there because of this. When we checked in, we were informed that the restaurant was NOT open because they only had "two people working and only 7 people checked in, so they decided to close early". This was surprising since the lady on the phone said they were "so busy" that day and also because of the amount of cars in the parking lot. This was also extremely inconvenient due to the fact that the closest restaurant was an hour drive away! The front desk just kept saying they were going under new management so a lot of things were "messed up" right now. We waited for the manager to speak to her about this and were told that "she has been gone for hours and they had no idea when she would be back". They said she may be back at "like 1 in the morning if we want to come back down and talk to her then". This is extremely unprofessional in my opinion. After that huge disappointment, we were directed to the "back door" that didn't open, the room was FILTHY, the smell was almost un-bearable (I felt dirty being in there and wouldn't even take off my shoes) and the hot tub was out of order. Overall, it was terrible stay and we were incredibly disappointed. Everything in this place is broken down or out of order DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I went to talk to the manager the next morning and I was told again that "she is supposed to be here today but I don't know if she is going to come in or not". She did call me a few hours later but I didn't care to speak with her at that point. I was then emailed saying tell us about your stay and "email back if you had any complaints. " Well I emailed my complainants and what do you know, the email address provided was un-deliverable! I called to get a new email address and the girl said "yeah I have no idea". Ha just another thing on top of the MANY things broken and ran down at this place. Stay away.
