We booked a room for two nights, Friday and Saturday. While en route we received a call to inform us that they were closing at 8pm, despite their own website and the site we booked through stating 10pm. We were told that the 10pm office closing time was for the summer season. This is stated no where, not on the Wapiti Lodge website, not on their FB page, and not on the site we booked through. We were told we could still get into our room, and the key would be under the mat at room and that there would be a letter left outside the office. No letter was found when we arrived, so we went to the room. Found the key as stated. The couch was stained and the pillows arranged in a way that made it appear someone had been napping on the couch earlier in the day. The chairs at the dining table were stained, as well. The stove in the kitchen was missing a nob, and the utensil drawer organizer was dirty. We decided we would check out early in the morning, because we did not wish to stay in the room as dirty as it was. Upon attempting to check out and finding the ‘open’ sign at the office, we found no one present. After calling and ringing the bell, the woman cleaning the rooms came. I explained that we wanted to check out early due to the condition of the room. She advised of a supposed policy of the owners to not refund for an early check out, but that she would “leave a note” for her manager. There is no policy of any kind listed on the website, and not posted in the reception area either. I’ve still received no communication from the owners or management, and the charge to my bank account is for both nights…

I’ve been contacted by management, the charge for the second night is no longer being made against my account, and the facility is taking the feedback seriously and assured they will be making corrections to the condition of the room.
