This place had such bad revues that I had to write my own review. There are a few problems as it is a Victorian building, inside and out. It is in the process of being renovated but comfortable and friendly. It is a little worn and shabby around the edges but clean. I would like to tell you what it did have. Large room, shower, sun room and kitchen. Excellent mattress, shower, large fluffy towels, hair drier, toiletries, iron and board, air con, tea, coffee and biscuits to help yourself to, in a delightful Victorian lobby. We were driving around Colorado and stayed in some not too impressive motels. The Holiday Chalet had a large room, so room for 2 large cases and we had 2 Queen beds. Much more space than some motels. Holiday Chalet is a 2* hotel and very reasonable. There is even a bus stop right outside in to the centre of Denver It is also 10mins walk to Denver Botanic Garden, which was very impressive.

Unique and charming. Our room was a nice size, akin to an apartment with a kitchen and a second, small room with seating and bay windows. The managers were attentive and accommodating. The Holiday Chalet is walking distance to restaurants and convenience stores. The neighborhood is lovely and close to downtown attractions. Don’t expect a corporate style hotel. For us, it was perfect.

Nice atmosphere, friendly employees, beautiful building. Rooms on the third floor can be pretty warm in the summer. Neighborhood is mostly pleasent with lots to do, but there were some strange people wandering the streets outside. Generally positive experience, would stay here again.

At first we were skeptical about staying at the Holiday Chalet because of some poor online reviews. Never the less we took a chance and had an amazing stay. The staff is extremely friendly and hospitable. If you’re looking for a unique experience this is your place. We would definitely stay here again.

The chalet was quaint, quiet and nice. Walked to the botanical garden. Illegal Pete’s right across the street and Pete’s kitchen open 24 hours one block away. Also, if you’re into it, high level health is a block and a half. We took the bus to red rocks and back two nights from Pete’s across the street. 16th street walking mall like a mile away as is the art district. Would/will be back.

I was so excited to stay here, especially driving 9 hours… Got there and they said they double booked by accident. Didn’t give me my room even though I called before the other guy. Our concert started in an hour and we hadn’t had dinner. They also refused to pay for another hotel. There’s also no parking. I’m livid. I hope I get my refund.

The rooms are very comfortable and cute. We have a view of the back patio that has a nice seating area. Only giving it 4 stars due to ants in the bathroom.

The photos do not reflect the reality of the place in any case of the room we had. Dilated paint scurled radiators noisy small colony of ants. Too bad the place looked really pleasant.

Unique and inviting! If you are looking for privacy, upscale rooms, in-room kitchens looking further. It's also right next to downtown so it makes for real easy access to get around the city.

I've never left a hotel the same night I checked in until now. I don't know what hotel the pictures are from, but nothing I saw looked like these updated remodeled photos on Google. The room was hideously dirty, every corner looked as though decades of dirt/dust/grime, and multiple light bulbs were burnt out. One of the door locks was broken. There was peeling wallpaper, holes in the walls, a "kitchenette" matching my grandmother's from 1960 was missing a stove. The white sink was warn through to the black. All of this is carefully hidden by the angles of photos on their website. The non-smoking hallways and lobby smell like cigarettes and pot, which makes sense as we were informed it was "cannabis friendly". This bed and breakfast doesn't serve breakfast, or have parking. The spaces out front are metered, but free late at night, you just have to be up by 9am to move the car or find parking down the street in the neighborhood. Our window view consisted of a gas station and sidewalk of wandering panhandelers. There's a reason they lock the front door 24/7. Finally, the windows are paper thin. I checked multiple times to make sure they weren't open because the sound of every passing car was so loud. And since the gas station is across the street, cars pull in and out all night long. Colfax (hwy 40) is, of course, one of the busiest streets in the city running all the way through Denver.

Such a cute a cozy place! The room was very nice and spacious with it's own kitchen. Staff is friendly and super helpful! The beds we're very comfortable and the decor was Victorian and adorable.

So cute and Victorian. Staff answers the locked door after you buzz. It might take a minute for them to answer because there's not much for the front desk/caretaker to do, so they probably come from their apt. It was super quiet, but like old places, floors creak and groan. Nice little kitchen surprised me and made it really homey. Would definitely recommend!

Conveniently located close enough to downtown, yet still reasonably priced. This is NOT the Hilton, but it's not Motel 6 either. Somewhere between a hostel and a bed and breakfast. Nice staff for a cool building with an amazing history (I'm sure). Parking is a bit of a hassle, but not impossible.

Adorable rooms, with very attentive staff. Cute little courtyard on the side with lots of sitting space, surrounded by large trees. Very comfy beds. Our room had a full kitchenette, but I'm not for sure if all the rooms have them. Pet friendly!

Clean. Really fun concept and a unique experience to stay here vs the modern hotel. The staff are extremely helpful, even when busy. The beds we stayed in were comfy. The walls are a bit thin going into the hallway But we didn't hear anything from the other rooms. All in all great experience.

Would stay here again. There is a homeless shelter nearby, so there are panhandlers chilling around on Colfax. I was a little wary of them the first night, but they're mostly very kind. When you say you don't have cash, all of them say 'hey that's ok, have a good night! ' There are so many great food and drink places a ten min walk away. Its worth it. The building is cool and interesting. The staff isn't super attentive, but if you need anything they are more than happy to help. Maybe if we had kids, we would feel a little more wary. But for twenty-somethings, it's perfect and cheap.

Wow… Love the quaint energy and style of this place. And the reviews almost scared me off. If you aren't upright and know what an old Victorian home is, then you'll feel like you hit the jackpot. Very close to the Ogden, good eats and a luxury or close by dispensaries… Can't go wrong here, especially sense they are 420 friendly. Heard it was just bought by a cool gay couple and they've already taken to the beautification of the place. Already beyond happy though! Oh, and cool and friendly staff!

The staff was friendly. They seemed a bit understaffed, but friendly nevertheless. Were having some technical difficulties when we first arrived, which caused some unorganized chaos. The three staff I talked to were accommodating and kind despite this. The location is on Colfax across from a bus stop, which is a pretty sketchy area. A bunch of shady people hang out around there at night, and throughout the entire night we heard people yelling and cars/motorcycles revving engines. Also not a super safe road to walk down at night, so I would advise to take a Lyft or drive your own car if you want to go somewhere. Smelled pot pretty much throughout the night. Not sure if it was coming through the window or if one of our room neighbors was smoking a blunt. We are in Denver, at a 2-star hotel, so I didn't expect much else. Just something to be cognizant of if you stay here. The drapes are translucent and let light from the street in, so perfect darkness is not achieved. Bring a night mask if this bothers you. We stayed in a king bed room & the bed was really comfy. You can definitely tell this place was built in 1896. Shower was temperamental, floor creaked with each step, walls are paper thin, but otherwise it is decent. They also don't do B&B anymore, as I was disappointed to find. Instead you get a coupon for a free egg & toast breakfast at Pete's Cafe, which is a block down the street. Not a bad deal.

The Holiday Chalet is a solid place to stay. The rooms are comfortable and large. However there's not much soundproofing as we heard people walking around on the floor above us. Overall I'd recommend this place.

This is a GREAT location if you are in the Denver "Proper" Area. Parking is a bit tough, but they have it. Breakfast is not served in the location, but rather at a GREAT GREAT GREAT place down the street. Which covered the meal with the Room Rate we got. Sort of odd, but I'll do it again! I'll be back here. It is a Victorian "OLD" Building, with quaint and loveable features.

We had stayed there 2 years prior for a week and had a great time. Thus time we stayed there for only a few days, but the experience was lacking. They're under new management, and didn't tell us when we booked in March that breakfast would actually be off site. It was a very short walk, but one of the original things we loved was the homemade breakfast. The cookies left for guests were store bought and obviously so. They had renovaters there and a few things appeared left half finished. One of them actually followed me back to my room and asked if I had any weed… Really? 2 years ago it would have gotten 5 stars. Now 3 is generous if my opinion.

I would give less than one star if it was allowed. Our daughter reserved a room four months in advance and was told the day before the event that her room had been given to another party. She had even called in the interim to check and confirm the reservation, as well as having received a confirmation of the dates from the bed and breakfast as well as Travelocity. This is completely uncalled for. She and her friend went down to the actual location and the front desk clerk refused to reason with them. I suggest if you book in advance and are coming from anywhere other than the Denver area, don't count on having a room when you arrive.

Quaint BandB with decorations that mirror your Grandma's style. The rooms are large with some open space. The kitchenette is perfect for storing leftovers or trail snacks for your next hike. Would return if we visited Denver again.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and accommodating. The kitchenette had everything we might need. The bed was SUPER comfy and the pillows did not hurt my neck like some hotel pillows do. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing! I do recommend getting a room in the back of the house, as there is some street noise on the Colfax side. As long as you are comfortable in urban environments and don't have an issue finding street parking, this is definitely a place to stay more than once!

We enjoyed our stay here. Very friendly and informative staff. Beautiful rooms with comfortable beds. Located in a very urban neighborhood with lots of places of interest within walking distance. We enjoyed our made to order breakfast of pancakes bacon and fresh fruit. We were also lucky enough to enjoy an afternoon tea time with delicious scones and cookies.

This hotel has nice rooms, which are clean but a little tired. They are full of Victorian character. Breakfast is delicious, and the staff are amazing.

Very affordable and incredibly personal/knowledgeable staff. Excellent breakfast and a warm bed. Perfect spot near all the classics/local delights, and not too far from downtown. Urban Victorian feel rooms, beautiful garden area, and just a couple blocks from the park. Can't wait to stay again, thank you for your kindness making us feel at home.

Most amazing place I have ever stayed. The staff is supper humble, helpful, kind, and friendly. They don't treat you like just another guest in the hotel and make you feel like there friends. The breakfast in the morning is great all fresh made fresh when you order it. I ordered there french tots and it was prob the best I've ever had. I also enjoined getting a chance to look at all the rooms. Each room was different and unique and had its own personality to them. This is absaluitlly the only place I'm going to be staing at when I'm out visiting co. Thank you so much guys for such an amazing stay and experience! :)

Stayed for a week last year with my wife, I will never stay at another establishment in denver as long as this place is in business. I can't think of a single thing while staying there that wasn't above and beyond accommodating for my wife and myself. The owners as well as staff were incredibly nice and helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed the conversations I had with them. I cannot recommend this B&B enough, to anyone visiting denver this is a hidden gem you will regret not staying at. Thanks again for the fantastic experience!

I recently had family in town who stayed at the Holiday Chalet during their visit to Denver. They and I could not have been more pleased. The Victorian charm of the Chalet was most welcoming as was the owner, Crystal, and staff. She took time to provide us a tour of this historic home and share stories of the original owners. The original architecture is in place and as beautiful as the rooms. My family was treated like their family and their special needs were happily accommodated from their room choice to dietary restrictions. The Chalet is pet friendly, which was also appreciated, and not easily found in other hotels. After busy days of site seeing and family time, the ability to relax in serene surroundings was the perfect way to end their day. I was very happy to know their evenings would be as special as their time spent with us. The Holiday Chalet is a special place and one I will recommend again and again for family and friends who come to visit.

Excellent B&B. Some of the best eggs I've had in my entire life. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming and made me feel at home. And the massage therapist on the top floor is throwing down some bomb massages too. Highly recommended!

I am very happy to have stumbled across holiday chalet for my stay in Denver. It is very comfortable and a nice change to stay in an older building. My room is clean, has hardwood floors, small kitchen with stove, comfortable chairs, a desk, and a small breakfast room with windows. The televisions have DVD players and the guests are welcome to a nice collection of DVDs in the hotel free of charge. The high ceilings are really nice too. Holiday Chalet has a really homey feel to it and there is plenty of space in the room I rented. The service from the staff as been of high quality and they are very friendly. If anyone I know is looking for a room in Denver I would without hesitation tell them to have a look at Holiday Chalet. It is a nice break from your chain hotels and it is apparent that Crystal is taking strong measures to maintain it as such. There are some really good restaurants close by as well.
