Beautiful hotel and friendly staff and a very relaxed atmosphere.

Great lawn with live music. food is very good and the hole place had a lot of history and character. the spa is great and their set up is wonderful to spend all day there.

First time at this property and everything was above and beyond our expectations. Best part was meeting Chardonnay. We will definitely be heading back soon.

During my visit I noticed that the front desk and the overall hotel was short staffed. This caused me and the party I was with to have to wait over 2 hours in the lobby after the check in time, to get our rooms. Other then that the hotel is beautiful and the staff that was there was extremely friendly.

Horrible customer service. I was gifted a voucher for a spa treatment and access to the spa for the day, and when I called to schedule it they told me they couldn't accommodate any Sunday bookings (Saturdays were not permitted with my voucher) because they were "sold out" of Sunday bookings for my voucher. When I explained that I work weekdays and live two hours away, the woman on the phone basically said "too bad". She didn't offer any other accommodations or even try to see what she could do to remedy the issue. When I asked if she could instead honor the voucher past its expiration date in late March so that they could accommodate me on a Sunday once there's availability, she said that she could not. If you sell a voucher that states — in bold letters — "valid Fridays or Sundays during merchant's operating hours", then that statement should be honored. If full days can "sell out" then there should also be text explaining that to a customer before they waste their money on a voucher that doesn't actually work. Lastly, any business with good customer service should have a plan to assist customers in resolving issues, not just give a "well that sucks for you" answer.

I felt like I was in an old motel. Dated and small. $1, 000 per night. When I asked for another room the best they did was $25 off my resort fee. Not helpful. There are many beautiful places to stay in Sonoma, this was a huge disappointment.

Came here for an event and had a fantastic time. The grounds are beautiful and have a peaceful air to them. There's a large gym and studio for yoga and free exercise activities. The food catered by the Fairmont was delicious and well made and the staff was very friendly. Only downsides are I could here the event music from my room and my air conditioner made a lot of noise.

Went here with my wife to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We had a beautiful room with an outside patio. The room had a complimentary bottle of wine to welcome us to the hotel. The exterior grounds are very nice with a fountain as its centerpiece. There are also some gas fireplaces to gather around with comfortable sofas to enjoy a glass of wine. The real gem of the hotel are the staff. Everyone here seems very happy to help and make your staff comfortable.

If only Fairmont would keep the spa open until 7pm, but otherwise, a true favorite and regular destination! **Update since a second visit in August; sadly, we were not greeted nicely this time around. Staff at spa check in were very rude and stuffy. Treated us as though we were trying to take advantage, and changed their rules regarding Good Neighbor, Birthday day without any notification. It is now required that Good Neighbors purchase one treatment in the past year before they can enjoy a day at the spa, but they only seem to tell you that when you show up to try and enjoy your Birthday day, and then tell you it is all "word of mouth, " and therefore that is why they didn't email us of that change in policy. They were unable to look up my friends gift voucher (she forgot to print it). Very unorganized and unhelpful system. We were not given robes… had to beg for them. The food was cold and soggy. Honestly, it was if the ownership had changed. Definitely not up to the Fairmont standards we have always delighted in. Major let down and such a shame since this has been a favorite destination and get away from SF for a longbtime now.

Great room, wine and cheese tasting for our group at the fire pit followed by a great dinner with excellent service for our party of nine in a private dining room. Then breakfast. Four of us ordered together. Two servings came out in good order, the second two arrived 20 minutes after the first (seasoned scrambled eggs). Our toast and English muffin arrive ten minutes after the omelet. Fairmont-you need to fix breakfast.

When my companion and arrived at around 4:30pm on Saturday, 8/18, we were informed that our room wasn’t ready. We left a cell number so we could receive a text when the room was ready. We also left our luggage and were assured that it would be delivered to our room. We accepted a lovely glass of sparkling wine. After waiting outside in the heat until nearly 6pm without receiving a message, I went back to the Front Desk. The receptionist told me that she had texted me. However, it turned out that she had taken down my number incorrectly so I had not received the message. At this point my companion and I also noticed that our bags were still in the lobby, by the reception desk where we had left them, completely unattended. The receptionist apologized and offered us more sparkling wine. At 9am the following morning we were awakened by housekeeping knocking on our door asking if they could clean our room. On a positive note, the valets and bellhops performed their jobs professionally and were gracious and polite. My companion and I agree that this was poor service considering the premium rates being charged at the hotel. I am not likely to recommend the hotel or to return. Also, given our disappointing experience at check-in, we chose not to dine or have breakfast at the hotel.

I organized a big work party here and it was a great experience! We worked primarily with Jim Bast — and he made the whole experience very easy. The thing I found especially important about this hotel is that they allow you to book for one night only (no 2-night minimum stay like you see practically everywhere else). They were accommodating for our guests with children and nursing mothers. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful location. Spa pools and services were excellent. Very good customer service, they took care of all issues promptly and to my satisfaction. The guided hike provided by the hotel was beyond my expectations. We went to Jack London State Park, the Guide was engaging, very knowledgeable about the area and the history. The hike was a easy pace through a stunning state park.

Warmth here doesn't come just from the weather. The staff here bends over backwards to ensure your luxurious comfort. Wine flows abundantly. Everything you would expect from a Fairmont hotel.

Went here to celebrate my sister's 21st birthday and as a therapuatic visit to recover from a traumatic experience… I show up a bit late for my so called reservation. There is a delay to get my room. Then when I finally get to my room, it is far from what I reserved. To begin with it was booked to have two queen beds, ends up with only one. Further, after I report this to the front desk they said that no room that can accommodate me was not available. They did try their so called "best" but a bottle of wine was not going to soothe me after a long drive and my room was not as planned. It's tough to get over things like this for I was looking to surprise my sister with success not failure. Well, unfortunately I realized that this place couldn't keep their reservations in order. On top of it all my room and the public restroom had bugs in it that I took pictures of as proof. Sorry to say this but don't go here!

We stayed here April 2018 for a medical conference. Definitely gave you the luxurious feel. Our room was updated. Initial service and room service were great. There was an elevator for the rooms in the building across the main building (where we stayed), which was nice for moving our luggage. There was a spa, but was very overpriced in my opinion. Food was good, but expensive like everything there. Limited parking. Biggest problem we had was they put a $300 hold on our credit card and wouldn't take it off for over 5 days (multiple phone calls) as I was planning on that money to pay for some of my other expenses for our travels. Was a nice stay, but likely will not be back.

A beautiful spot near the heart of Sonoma. Only minutes from town square and close to dozens of wineries. The Concierge was kind enough to put together a list of winners for us to visit that were within minutes of the hotel. The staff was friendly and outgoing. The room was comfortable and the fireplace was an added treat. I can't wait to go back! d.

Let’s start with the hot springs, which really amount to a hot tub that closes at 6pm. They also misplaced my bag and offered a free bottle of wine as a peace offering. That was nice, but given how much they charge for a night stay, they should be really doing more. Do not use the valet service, not only due to the potential of your bag being misplaced, but also because parking is pretty easy to find. The hotel tries to be a top hotel but falls short, but have no problem charging you like one.

The huge bathtubs in the center of the rooms surrounding mine were poured into throughout the night making a thunderous sound and led to a very poor sleep. My massage was too 'deep' (what I had specifically not requested) and hurt, and the masseur didn't look at the paper I'd filled out indicating I needed work on my lower back. He completely ignored that section and when I mentioned it towards the end, he seemed off put and said he had already turned me over, but compromised by making me do a half turn and sort of massaging it — basically they ignored the paper I'd filled out in the beginning. Finally, after I'd left, I forgot a very expensive pair of shoes because of being late due to the bad night's sleep. Despite numerous phone calls with no follow up they didn't get found. The very expensive food was also just okay — not worth the price. Disappointing.

Fabulous rooms and buildings. CoZy but elegant. Great wines and food, good restaurant. Nice complimentary tastings daily and hikes, bicycles, spa, pool, gym. Overall great facilities in heart of Sonoma wine country. Service is speedy, friendly and excellent. Knowledgeable staff on the area and wines.

We checked in here during Spring Break. We got a suite. Room is big and spacious. A jacuzzi type bathtub. A fireplace. A spacious balcony. We also had dinner at Santè. Fancy stuff! Staff were kind and attentive. My son swam in the heated pool. Lots of trees, manicured lawn. A pretty sight in person and in pictures.

We we're disappointed. The pool was closed. The restaurant was closed. No bikes to use available. The smell in the hall is funky. There are better places to stay in Sonoma.

I visited recently for a day trip to the spa for my sister's bridal shower and was disappointed by the experience. After a mix up at the hotel (that resulted in our electric car not having enough charge to make it home), the attempts from the hotel to make up for the issue felt insincere (offering us 4 day passes to the spa, that had more restrictions on its usage than most airline tickets). Not the Fairmont I remember. The details: We were there for about 5-6 hours and had asked the valet to charge our EV during that time (since we didn't have enough charge to make it back to the Peninsula). They assured us it'd be no problem and said they didn't need instructions to use the charger when I offered to help. Fast forward to 4pm when we're ready to leave — — and it turns out no one had charged the car or made any attempt to reach us (they couldn't figure how to use the charger! ) At that point it would have taken 3+ hours to charge so we left to find a "super" charger on the way home, making a detour to Novato that added an hour to our trip. I was a bit annoyed by the experience, but was pleasantly surprised when the manager on duty sent me a note apologizing and asking to send us 4 day passes to the spa for future use. I responded with a kind thank you and gave my address. He then said that he'd be sending passes… but that the passes had a lot of restrictions and would be only good M-Th and for the next year etc etc.

We met another couple here for a 2 night stay. I have to give 4 stars for the hotel, the spa but mostly to the awesome staff. There is one thing that gets 1 star and I'd like to warn other guests about. Check your bill a day or 2 AFTER you check out! Both our friends and us were charged additional the day after checking out! My friends were charged an extra 800.00 and were were charged over 700.00 extra. Upon making phone calls we were partially reimbursed for a little over 300.00 saying there was a "computer glitch" The rest we were told were spa charges, even though the package we bought included the spa. Why didn't they say something at the spa of the extra charges that were being tacked on? Why wait until the next day? They must make alot of extra money by doing this.

A nice place at an excessive price. Service is the bright point here, wonderful staff everywhere from the front desk to the restaurant and housekeeping. Rooms are okay but not stellar. Expect to pay a minimum of $30/person for breakfast with tip, nothing cheaper on the menu. Location is not walkable and nearby area isn't that nice. I came for a conference so many expenses were paid, I can't see coming here on my own dime.

Our stay here has been amazing. Every employee here is so accommodating. I can't say enough good things about this place. It is beautiful. I can't wait for my spa visit!

A good heritage hotel with spa and other options to relax. If you are looking for modern amenities pls ask for you to be booked in the newer blocks. There hotel has an amazing collection of wines.

Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa is the only kind in the states. It is a sanctuary if you like to stay in a first class hotel with one of a kind spa — famous of its European bath with mineral water. The swimming pools are all very relaxing temperature around 90ish plus from the hot springs. You have to experience it to truly appreciate the place. I can't recommend high enough of this place. It is a must to experience.

Classic weekend getaway in a historic hotel with Michelin star restaurant and 5 star spa with several pools with warm mineral waters pumped up from over 1000 feet below the hotel. Accommodations provide the utmost in comfort. If you want to do more, wineries, Glen Ellen or the town of Sonoma are minutes away, enjoy the Valley of the Moon.

Overall a great place to stay. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The property had a nice feel and look. The pool was nice but bleached my clothes and the area is not walkable. The rooms were quiet and the beds soft. I enjoyed exploring the area (not on foot though).

I stayed here over the Christmas holiday and was rather disappointed. It was really expensive for a basic room, they tried to charge a valet fee when we were forced to valet because there was no parking. To even use the hot tub, which is not included as a regular hotel guest you have to pay an additional 39$ a day as a hotel guest per person. The weather was colder and it would've been nice. I feel like they really nickel and dime, I mean really just include everything in the price don't separate everything. I also tried to cancel this reservation approx 10 day prior and was informed I would be charged the full amount. There was not 24 hour cancellation as with most reservations. I will not stay here again and am extremely disappointed in Fairmonth in general. I would suggest staying in a B&B to those looking, instead of this overstated nickel and dimer.

A beautiful place to stay and relax for a few days. Pro tip. Bring your own water and drinks. A six pack of soda runs you over twenty five bucks here.

My husband and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary at the 38° North Lounge last night. Truth be told we came for the escargot… and it did not disappoint. Service was fantastic. The hotel was bustling and the holiday decorations were very nice. Lucky to be locals : we will be back …

A very nice hotel with kind staff. We had a lovely stay and a great overall experience. The pool was nice but the spa pools were not open to those under 18 which was disappointing to my little brother.

We had massages and spent the day in the bath house and pools. The facilities were beautiful, clean, and luxurious. The staff was very friendly, and both of the masseuses were amazing. The hotel facilities also seemed beautiful.

Management was completely unresponsive about damage to our rental car by the hotel valet. They were very nice to my face when I reported the damage in person, but completely ignored calls and emails after that. Very disappointing experience & completely ruined our spa day.

The spacious room and park like setting make this our favorite get away. As parents of six year old twins a good night sleep is the number one priority. LET me tell you the bed was a 10… best night sleep in a long time. The spa is relaxing and inviting I would go up for the day just for the spa.

Was here for 3 days for a business conference. Room was small but kept well. Turn down service one night but not others. I had to request room to be serviced. Service seemed to lack in some areas. Wait staff at Sante for breakfast were outstanding.

Spent the day at the cabana. Absolutely heavenly. Actually not too bad of a deal… Beautiful facilities, champagne, fruit… 5+lovely pools. Not busy at all. Highly recommend.

Wine Country is a great place, tons to see and do and this is a great place to stay. Naturally, in such a beautiful place everything costs a little bit more. Service is great and what you would expect at a Fairmont. The regular rooms are on the small/basic side. Had a room overlooking the pool and I would recommend it. Please know the pool is a VERY popular place so there is noise. Thursday night there was a pool party that reminded me of a Vegas style pool party with DJ, lights etc.

Great service at the front entry. Pool bar was too busy to get an order through. No seating available. Slow food service at lobby. But great place to unwind and chill.

Exceptional stay! My fiancé and I stayed here for our engagement and we had a fantastic weekend. Including the Michelin star breakfasts at Santé, the mineral bath/sauna/steam room/pool experience, evening wine tasting in the lobby, and in-room turn down service made our stay truly exceptional. Even when the self park area was full, the valet staff parked our car free of charge. The entire staff went above and beyond to please. We will definitely be returning.

Best place to go for a day of relaxation — The Willow Spa at the Fairmont Hotel in Sonoma. The bath rituals are amazing. Everyone gets a locker, spa slippers, and a robe. It's extremely nice, and the staff is very professional. It's by appointment only, so be sure to make your reservations in advance. They offer many services like facials, messages, manicures and pedicures, and more.

I truly enjoyed this hotel. What a gem! The staff is beyond friendly, the service is impeccable and the rooms are comfortable. The grounds are green and beautiful and the smell of the fresh flowers is absolutely divine. We traveled with 2 children and all four of us are so happy. The kids even roasted marshmallows over the fire pit and made s'mores ;)

My go to respite. Never disappointed. Service is impeccable, Mission Suite never fails. This is my total relaxation getaway from the City for a few days spot. Absolutely love the Fairmont.

We initially booked a four night stay to celebrate our 10th anniversary with a pleasant representative by phone. After that, our requests to speak to a concierge were met with someone who knew less about the resort than we did. We called the national Fairmont customer service line and they set us up with Sarah, a customer service representative at the resort. She was our personal guide for local eats, restaurant bookings, wine tastings, and spa access. She everything a concierge should be and more. She made it her personal mission to ensure that our 10th anniversary celebration was a memorable one. We enjoyed exclusive tasting experiences in the area that had no availability (until she called on our behalf), a bottle of of wine on arrival, and several timely gifts during our stay. Sarah single-handedly turned our experience into one that positions us to consider Fairmont hotels as our luxury brand of choice.

We initially had a bad experience with the concierge over the phone, but once we got past that, we were able to meet an amazing Fairmont representative, Sarah O'Connor, that made our stay worth it. We are in the President's club, so we got an upgrade to a suite upon arrival. Worth it for the fireplace and jacuzzi. It was our first time in wine country, so she suggested many great wineries to tour and places to eat. Since it was our anniversary, she had two dozen roses and a bottle of the local Gloria Ferrer waiting on us for our arrival and sent other treats up for our stay throughout the week. She helped us to book hard-to-book appointments, such as the food and wine pairing at St. Francis winery. These instances only scratch the surface of her helpfulness and generosity that she showed for us. She went above and beyond to make our stay for our ten-year anniversary a memorable one. The Fairmont has out-performed the Ritz and other similar hotels.

Best massage I have had! Went for a friend's birthday and enjoyed the day by the pool and then massages. Enjoyed time in the jacuzzi and pool before we were pampered with massages. Took away one star because it was hard to find a spot by the pool and the service for food and drinks was slow.

They gave us good advice about the wine nearby. They also had 2 pools heated to enjoy a bath when I was a little cold.

Enjoyable overnight stay here to celebrate my wife's birthday. Great location on Highway 12 in the Hispanic area of Sonoma, with some great local Mexican food and with easy access to a number of wineries very close by. The deluxe king room felt a bit small but had quite a nice bathroom. Great service and they were very dog friendly. It was an extra $50 to have our dog with us for the night and he was even allowed to hang out with us by the pool.

Just came back from a beautiful, relaxing weekend here with my wife to attend the Vinolivo festival. The hotel itself is a historic piece of art but the real gem is the Willow Steam Spa with its own source of thermal mineral water. We spent a whole glorious day there without a care in the world. Everybody is friendly, guests (wine? ) and service staff alike, throughout our stay. We'd definitely come back. Thank you for a memorable weekend!

I went to the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa for a spa treatment I found on Travelzoo. It started with the locker room, which was nicely appointed and moved to the "bathing ritual". This was a combination of pools and steam rooms/saunas which the customer should enjoy in a certain order. There was fresh fruit, champagne, and coffee. I was then taken to my spa appointment (aptly named the "Executive Meltdown". The service included a massage, scrub, hand and foot massage, and hot rock treatment. Overall, the visit was fantastic.

The bar at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is the perfect mix of social and private. Their cocktails and snacks are particularly delicious, and their staff is attentive. I always have a good time at SMI.

The location was interesting. Not as remote as I was thinking. The rooms were very small but nice. The food was very good. Overall, nice experience.

The hotel is great — old, beautiful, accommodating. The food at the bar is fantastic! The food in the restaurant is not. It's just pretentious. Also, I think a trip to the wine country is kind of an adult thing. I went to this hotel before in 2000, and it was so relaxing. Now, like some other US destinations that used to be reserved for adults, this hotel is full of small children. My friend and I, who have children of our own, went to get away, not to listen to other people's screaming kids taking up the whole pool.

Good location in downtown Sonoma visited got a work offsite. Didn't stay at hotel.

I am just trying to call my brother who is staying there and waited on hold for nearly 10 minutes. Hard to be a good hotel when you can't answer the phone.

We stayed in a luxurious suite — loved it. The wood burning fireplace added great charm to our room as did the large deep bathtub with jets.

Not only does the hotel smell like an old dirty dungeon, but there are bugs in my hotel room and roaches in the restaurant. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

The Fairmont experience is always the best. Special shout out to Robert Eyers, thank you so much for making our stays at Fairmont the best ever. I truly believe there is no better managed resorts than Fairmont. We have stayed in over 15 different properties and NONE ever have been a disappointment. They excel at there craft, taking five star service to another level.

This was one of the worst experiences I've had yet in 30 years of world-wide travel. Facts: They didn't know if our room was ready at 5pm on our arrival The phone didn't work — Maintenance was quick and friendly to fix it. The shower didn't work. This is unacceptable. Maintenance wouldn't be able to fix it until 'later'. If the parking lot is full, valet parking is $35. Unacceptable. Their parking lot is small. Super small for the number of rooms in this place. Internet costs $15 a day. Seriously? Every other hotel has complimentary Wi-Fi. In this day and age, Internet better be included. It's like the phone in the room now — not a special convenience as in the 80's or 90's. The manager was dealing with one guest that they screwed up their reservation when we arrived and another guest when we checked out that morning as I really do want a working shower for the price of their rooms. The front desk did not take the 20% off our food tab as they were supposed to. On hearing of all the problems we had, the manager did not comp anything from our bill. Observations: This place is cheap. They over charge you for everything they possibly can and the front staff has absolutely no concept of customer service or return guest value. Acknowledgements: The valet staff did park the car for free as the lot was full. This did take some conversation with the attendant to make it happen. The phone guy was great — friendly, quick, helpful.

I am a travel agent and thought I was booking an above average hotel. My clients did not agree. They put my older clients on the 3rd floor and then proceeded to tell them there was no elevator. The room was musty and they got moved but the new room still smelled. The rooms need updating. They rare small with no dresser and very small baths. Bed was terrible. On the positive side-lobby was very nice. The suites in the newer section looked nice. I will not be using this hotel with other clients who want an upscale hotel-needs refurbishment.

This is my favorite hotel in wine country. The hotel itself is beautiful and historical. The rooms are lovely, clean, and spacious. The staff is helpful and the daily wine tastings are super fun. The concierge always has lots of passes to local wineries and I love that you can rent bikes on the property as well. I consistently find great deals for this hotel on TravelZoo. If you're concerned about rates, start there, you might find a special.

Downhill is an understatement. Furnishings from Target for the pool area (at least). Dark rooms that are significantly less impressive than they seem online (I can't imagine staying in the buildings where the 'normal' rooms are. They looked frighteningly bad. A patron with a noticeably audible political radio station at the pool was allowed (I asked). All the maids and service people were VERY nice however. But the nickel and diming of everything at this hotel is unreal. Over a hundred dollars in service/parking charges for 2 days (not including tax). That's not even counting visiting the spa. Yes, they charge you a PREMIUM for going on the solo shower/soak 'experience'. It's just not nearly a nice enough place to charge what they charge or get the rating they have. They're just barely making those ratings I can only assume based on the overall impression of the architecture and the grounds which are lovely.
