I loved my stay here. The rooms, grounds and setting are absolutely beautiful. The breakfast is delicious. I love how you can come to breakfast at your own pace, and sit at your own table. The owner is a delightful man. You are greeted with champagne when you arrive. I've stayed in a number of bed and breakfasts in the area. This is my favorite!

Beautiful hotel surrounded by nature. Complimentary breakfast and lovely pool, but Wifi and cell reception is less than ideal. Great place to retreat from the world.

On our 2nd dat st Applewood. I have to say this Inn was the wrong choice. I see there are a lot of good reviews, but they do not reflect our experience. 1. The room is about a $100 room, no more. The only in-room amenity is a small flatscreen mounted very high up. There were spiders on our bed. The room was damp and dark. Barely any natural light. 2. On-site amenities. The pool and hot tub were filthy. The hot tub jets just dont work. I see from other reviews it's a well known problem. The owner just isnt fixing it. I see an onsite employee was cleaning this morning, but by afternoon there are a lot of dead bugs floating around, no nets available to clean them out. Also, the towel storage was just dirty towels. 3. Picnic basket. Ours was ordered and supposed to be ready at 930. Its 1045 and we are still waiting. This has pretty much ruined our morning. The front desk was on the phone when I came in at 10:15 and I had to stand directly in front of her to get her attention from the call. We had the same problem yesterday when checking in. We had to be forcefully to get checked in and shown our room. My wife and I are very upset. They could have told us earlier they didn't have their business handled… We have lost a good chunk of our morning due to poor preparation and a serious lack of communication. :update: We got our pinic basket an hour late. We went to a vineyard is Healdsburg and bought a bottle of wine. We opened our basket, no wine glasses.

Paradise Nestled in Wine Country As soon as my girlfriend and I set foot in Applewood we felt like we were visiting family. We were greeted warmly by the friendly and attentive staff. Carlos, the generous host and owner, treated us to champagne to inaugurate our stay and the bottles seemed to keep popping throughout our visit. Breakfast every morning was delightful and delicious, with a unique menu that surprised and satisfied. Relaxation was the theme of our time there — the beds are luxurious and so comfortable! The hot tubs, pool area and on-site massages are lovely. We spent much of our time soaking in the scenic atmosphere and fresh air. The inn itself is perfectly located within minutes of several impressive vineyards and beautiful redwood forests in the Russian River Valley. A short drive along the river leads to the gorgeous Pacific Coast. Breathtaking views abound. We just spent the weekend at the Applewood Inn and it was fantastic. The room was larger than expected and very spacious. The bedding was luxurious. Every detail was accounted for, we even had a balcony. The staff was welcoming and informative. The food was DELICIOUS. The restaurant was beautiful. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you Applewood. We can't wait to come back.

Rooms need a cosmetic facelift. Dark, dingy, aged carpets and fixtures but could be nice if updated. Very comfortable mattress though, so we slept well. Breakfast was wonderful. Too bad restaurant not open for dinner.

The Applewood is a wonderful little gem in the heart of the Russian River valley. The breakfast is wonderful, and the menu changes daily. The staff is pleasant and helpful. I especially enjoyed the redwoods on the property!

Do not go to this place. Bought a deal from Travelzoo. They did a bait and switch and charged extra. The pictures looked nothing like what it actually was like. The staff was not that helpful. It is old and a bit on the rundown side. The front desk closes very early so there is no one to help if needed. The rooms are extremely tiny and looked nothing like the pictures. The pool and hot tub were both filthy. The pool was not even heated. The Jets in the hot tub had no pressure to speak of. Ended up paying $100 more than the price paid with Travelzoo.

Nice quiet, clean, wonderful smelling linens. Great two course breakfast. Walking distance from the Main Street which has number of nice restaurants and things to do. Short car ride from the Armstrong state park. The house is a little creaky.

Beautiful close setting to Napa and Sonoma. Very quiet and romantic.

The grounds are lovely and our room with private exterior hot tub is very nice. The breakfasts were delicious and the staff is pleasant and helpful. We highly recommend this area, near the Russian River and many wineries.

My wife and I went here for our 10th anniversary, and we could not find enough good things to say about this place! The service was amazing, the staff was friendly, and the food was the best I’ve ever had. The views are breathtaking and the attractions near the inn were absolutely worth the two thousand mile flight.

We spent one night in the honeymoon sweet this month on September 18th it was comfortable, quiet, and beautiful setting tucked away in the hills of Guerneville. The view is gorgeous!

A little bit of heaven… peaceful, beautiful, gourmet breakfast every morning (included), easy to get to all the Russian River sites… would return in a heartbeat!

The breakfast described on the website was not what was offered. Just expected some options as was initially explained would happen. Hot tub also needed to be cleaned.

Applewood Inn is a beautiful property, tucked away in a hillside of Guerneville. While its restaurant just opened, once it gets up and running, it should be great.

Very convenient location close to Guerneville and a short drive to many wineries. We walked into town this morning! Breakfast was custom made and delicious. Large rooms with everything you would want. Well worth the trip.

Great atmosphere! Very lovely place. Breakfast was a bit lacking for hungry folks, but it was delicious!

This is the best option in the area. We enjoyed the friendly staff, clean and comfortable facilities, and the hot tub!

OMG the food! This is a MUST TRY!

We stayed at this Inn. Our challenges began with Caitlin, who was at best impersonal and did not seem suited for the job. Every time we asked her for help, it felt like it was an imposition. And then when we asked who could get the work done, she said, "I guess it would be me". Her sidekick in the front office was very nice when Caitlin was not around, but equally distant and impersonal when the two were together. The restaurant staff were terrific. A+. The room was OK, even though we had one of the best ones. The champagne that had been ordered was not delivered. It was supposed to have been included in the room — we were charged for it. There was so much dust in the room, that the AC blew it around, causing sleep to be difficult. The deck outside our room was not clean, and there were critters in the room. The massage staff, however, was fantastic. At the end of the day, we figure the owner had a great concept, the buildings are nice, but the entire experience was negatively impacted from the beginning by the 2 front office women who could not have cared less, did not understand what "customer service" meant, and did not manage the operation for cleanliness. Visit at your own risk.

My wife and I had dinner last Friday night for our anniversary (our first time at this resteraunt) via a Groupon deal. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the hostess and seated. When our waiter arrived (he did not tell us his name) I told him this was our first time here and presented the Groupon coupon. He briefly explained how the Groupon deal worked and took our order. We did not see much of him after that. This irritated us a bit because the place was not busy — only a few customers at a few tables and no big groups. Because the 20% gratuity was automatically built in regardless of the quality of service, we felt that we were ignored and unimportant to him as he did not come by except once in passing to ask how we were doing. My water was empty for a good 10 minutes before being noticed. Needless to say the service was poor.
The food was a mixed bag — the starters we had were amazing. My wife had the baby beets which she loved, I had the Diver Scallop which was phenomenal! For the main course my wife had the beef tenderloin which was plated beautifully and the meat cooked perfectly — but lacked flavor. I had the halibut — again, plated beautifully but unfortunately the halibut was dry. For dessert my wife had the Myer Lemon Tart which was dry and lacked flavor — she wished she had gotten something different on the menu.

Stay at the Inn and enjoy a 1 star restaurant.

A favorite spot for special occasions — the building itself is a treat too. It may not be an official historic building, but it is worth checking out before or after you eat. Applewood Inn is surrounded by orchards and redwoods, so you have a taste of local agriculture (and the fantastic onsite gardens and orchards that contribute to your meal) and the majestic redwoods for which the region is known. The wine (and beer) list is extensive and we appreciate the highly educated recommendations of the servers. One even went into the kitchen and asked the chef which was a better pairing for our meal — what a treat! Food is a blend of high-class California fusion and yummy European epicurean.

Start with the Artichoke soup — silky and flavorful; end with the Meyer lemon tart from their new pastry chef. Both surprising and excellent! In between you won't go wrong with any of the starters and entrees. Peculiar corkage policy, but good wine list that ends with a Pride Mountain Vineyards Mistelle de Viognier — just enough Sauvignon Blanc to give the floral layers structure. While you sip, enjoy the fire, architecture and view.

Food is good, but nothing spectacular. At least the dish I had wasn't something to remember for days, but there were some that were. The service was exceptional to the very end, very attentive considering it was one person for about a handful of tables. I can see why they have a michelin star.

Cute and classy historic inn. We had the best experience with Sylvia in reservations. In the heart of wine country. A little overpriced for the experience, but still a great time.
