We prepaid for our hotel rooms using Southwest months in advance specifically in anticipation for a tight month. The De Anza asked for a card in case of incidentals — we gave it to them, and they billed the entire room's cost to the card, essentially double-billing us. We asked for a refund, and it took them several days to understand or admit the error. They then said they'd issued a refund, but we have yet to see the money show up in our account. I'm not sure what's going on at the De Anza, but their cutesy jazz stylings are not worth being double billed. I would be extremely leery about staying here again.

I understand that this hotel is a little older but to pride itself in a 5 star rating would mean that it would have to live up to the 5 star service. While the property (mostly the rooms are managed well), the service of the hotel is extremely slow. Room service required me to call down 5 times before I could get someone to take my order. Not only that, the elevator was broken and was not fixed until the next morning. I even had a housekeeper enter my room even without waiting a second after knocking. Gorgeous hotel, food could definitely use an uplift (salad was not fresh, wilted veggies and pizza was OVERLY cheesy). Please take the time to evaluate this review seriously management staff at Hotel DeAnza. Otherwise, everything went well (room was clean and comfortable). Thank you.

Loved this hotel! The decor was cool and rooms were very clean and had a retro funky style. Staff was super friendly and they have Valet parking right at the entrance to hotel. It does cost extra for valet which was around $39 per day. There are other parking garages in the immediate area but read the prices carefully because a lot of them charge $20 extra to come and go. The hotel will get your car anytime for no extra charge.

I arrived Sunday night around 9:30 PM. I was confused on arrival as to where to park so I just parked on the street. Once at the reception desk, I was told they had valet parking for the hotel but there was no attendant outside to assist. Since I had just flown in, the first thing I wanted to do was eat. Luckily, I realized right before 10 that room service ended at 10 PM along with every other option to eat at the hotel. Also, there's no pamphlet like hotels normally have for you in the room so unless I looked at the phone, selected room service and talked to someone, I wouldn't have known what I could order from room service or how to order room service. The room itself is small but nice finishes. The building also looks older so you'll notice some wear and tear but still a really nice option. The restaurant downstairs was really good as well and they also have a little bar lounge as well which you'll find pretty social people. Overall it's a good hotel around the historic downtown area of San Jose.

Simple but elegant style that ties the hotels history within it. Staff is very kind and concerns we had were heard and addressed. We even got a very kind card and treats! The location is perfect. Near so much food and fun we need a longer stay next time!

Great downtown views from the 8th floor. The bathroom and room were beautiful. The valets and front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The windows in the rooms open easily, and I wouldn't feel safe with kids who could open them as you could easy fall out if you were leaning too far. The location is great to get out of downtown quickly as they are on the street leading to the 87 on ramp.

Way too loud. The hotel itself was quiet enough, but I shouldn't be able to hear sidewalk conversations from the 9th floor. The windows provide no protection from city sound, and the hotel sits in the flight path for the airport. I didn't get much sleep. Hotel seemed clean, but very worn. Torn lampshades, shower door that is difficult to slide, and it took both hands for me to get enough leverage to turn on/off the shower water. Staff was delightful, but they can't make up for the deficiency of the building.

Nice little gem — make sure you get a package rate agreed to prior to arrival. I was told there was a problem with the reservations on-line for the wedding party and it would be remedied upon arrival. It did not. The hotel was lovely, clean, and staff were attentive but not to the point of resolving our original issue.

The hotel was nice but you can tell it's one of those old places that have been modernized. The beds are serviceable if not exceedingly comfortable and the decor has a theme that's appealing if a little sterile. The bathroom was the nicest part of the room, but it was the jazz lounge that was the highlight of the stay. Having a bar, sofas and music in a high-ceilinged yet cozy room was a satisfying finish to a long day. There is a "mandatory amenities fee" of $14 for the Wi-Fi and midnight snack (served at 9pm) which is a separate charge at the end of your stay. It's a puzzling practice that might turn some people off, but we weren't in a mood to care.

Front Desk is nice. They didn't leave us confused and they provided us with places to go and eat since we arrived in between meals and we were famished. The hotel, although very old, was still in good shape. Kept up and seems to be in original state without much in changes. Has a small gym that nobody uses it seems, but the equipment is kept clean and is fairly new. They have a small menu for breakfast, but the food options are delicious and everything taste really fresh. Only bad thing I could say is that they have very HARD beds. I tossed and turned all night. It's a nice hotel to visit and see, but the beds are uncomfortable and if you have a bad back, you may need to see a chiropractor after.

The hotel rooms are clean and decorated nicely, but I’m only giving it 1 star! You would think having some kind of parking lot for the hotel, $36 for valet is ridiculous and then you have to tip twice, not for me, I wouldn’t do that! The Italian resturant which is nice but yelp gave it 2 stars and I can see why! Very disappointed! We also ordered our midnight snack box at 8:15pm to be delivered by 9pm and they never showed up, we fell asleep waiting for it. Not sure why they charge amnesties fee of $14.99 for basic coffee and water in the lobby area, I was confused, it including the snack box which we never received, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all! I will never come back! Very upset over my weekend get away!

Good hotel. Very close to the SAP Center "Shark Tank". It was easy to walk to the hockey game, maybe 5 minutes. One thing you will notice are all the planes flying overhead. Even at night we could hear them. I slept through it but worth mentioning.

I love the modern feel of this hotel! The rooms just feel different than the typical chain hotel. The interior design is really well done and really makes you feel like your stepping out of your life and into a world of luxury. All of the staff here is very kind as well and always willing to go the extra mile to make you visit a great one!

I would have given this hotel more than 1 star (despite the air conditioner in the room that sounded like a freight train when it was on) if it hadn’t been for the last night of my 3 night stay. We came in for a hockey game and our first two days / nights were just fine. However, our last night there was a motivational speaker in town and our room rate jumped up about $200. Wednesday night we were woken up (around 1AM) to what sounded like a sorority party on our floor. We called down around 2AM (had to use our cell phones because our room phone had a busy dial and wouldn’t call down to the desk) and the front desk said they’d come up. The noise subsided around 2:30AM but I have a feeling it was because the guests passed out and not because management came up. In the morning our shower towel had multiple holes the size of a pointer finger. When we approached the desk to check out and to voice our concerns the woman at the front desk PICKS UP THE PHONE after we had said we had a troubling night. She told us there was nothing she could do about the room rate or the situation in general but we could call her manager. WE HAVE TO CALL THE MANAGER?! That is just ridiculous. The woman at the front desk said she’d pass along our number and our concerns because we said we would not be the one to reach out. It’s now Friday and we haven’t heard a thing.

Comfortable and pleasant Hotel in the heart of the city of San Jose. Or San Jose, as they put it here. The rooms are large and spacious. The bed was great. It lacks any lamp that of better general lighting and not only indirect light lamps. There are USB connectors, everywhere and Wi-Fi is included and goes very fast, an obvious thing to be in the capital of world computer technology. There is a fridge and coffee-pot of capsules, which are reput every day. The air and heating system is very noisy. Staff very friendly and attentive but no one speaks Spanish.

Good indie place. Convenient to downtown and Shark's hockey. Front desk could use some training on how to be more professional.

I went to the bar for the jazz night that occurs the first and third Wednesday of every month, and we had a great time! The drinks at the bar are priced well, and the quality of the jazz was top-notch. The ambiance was calm, with a slightly older crowd that you could tell was there to appreciate the music. Even though there was only one bartender, I was able to get my order in with not too much waiting. I would definitely return to the bar, especially on a jazz night!

Love this hotel! I had the most elegant room — beautiful bathroom and wonderful amentities. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding. The front desk is very cordial and smart. Would return in a heartbeat. Super location.

Now this is a classy joint! I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this stylish and professional hotel while visiting the south bay on family business. The bar and restaurant on site are excellent, the furnishings are beautiful and the staff are friendly and clear.

Came here for dinner. The food was good and staff attentive. The couple in the table next to us was obnoxious and bitched about everything for no apparent reason. Asking for food not on the menu and complaining about pricing.

I booked the "Library Room" thinking it would be a quiet room. The window over looked the bar which stayed open till 1am. The paperwork that I was given said 11pm. Stayed open later due to a sharks game. Upon talking with 2 workers, both were surprised I had not been told about the noise level of the room. If I had known I would have upgraded. My quiet stay turned into a nightmare. Finally fell asleep about 2am only to be awoken by someone playing the piano at 7am.

Front desk was friendly. Room was cozy, bathroom is huge. Love the espresso machine and large soft towels. Filter water is in the ice machine, but it more or less tastes like sink water.

Great location in downtown San Jose, walking distance from the SAP center. I attended a work holiday party there, and had a great experience. There's a large dining/dancing area as well as a bar/lounge if you want to escape the noise. Very cool place.

Great place to stay in Downtown San Jose. Accommodations are comfortable and clean. Styling in the room and common areas are modern yet has an Art Decco feel. The staff are friendly and very helpful. A plus is the jazz music downstairs with good food and drink options. I would stay there again.

Hotel De Anza was a nice experience. Comfortable hotel within the downtown area. Decent food options and only about a 20 min ride from Silicon Valley. Has live music and some tasting weekly.

Great location. The rooms that has one or two beds are very large and roomy. The restaurant staff as-well-as the concierge service are outstanding. Its highly recommended.

Damn place for Reyes. Clean and Localisado very close to the center.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel De Anza over the weekend and had a great experience. The Hedley Club had jazz both nights and made for a comfortable atmosphere to hang with our family and friends. We also were a part of a large group who came into the area for a friend's wedding. Brandie was accommodating in setting the group up, and we really appreciated her efforts as well as other members of the De Anza staff. Great Hotel to consider when making plans in downtown San Jose!

Popped into the restaurant and had some wonderful avocado toast. Service was phenomenal I wish I remembered the fellow's name but all I can remember is his mustache. Very attentive.

One of my favorite places in the entire bay area… We spent our Wedding night there, before heading out on our honeymoon. Beautifully restored hotel, with the finests amenities! The "raid the pantry" room is a must visit! The have taken a whole room and converted it into a kitchen, stocked with "Midnight munchies, " drop in, fill a tray, run back to your room and have a late night feast!

I've stayed at this hotel twice. Each time has been a wonderful experience. The rooms that has one or two beds are very large and roomy. The restaurant staff as-well-as the concierge service are outstanding.

We got dinner and drinks in the club because the restaurant was all reserved. The service was friendly but slow. I thought the club area was very pretty though and the bathrooms downstairs are all good plated.

Don't understand all those positives reviews. I arrived at 12pm, to be told no room will be available before 3pm. The receptionist told me he would call me when a room would be ready. I sat 2 meters away from the receptionist to wait, watching a movie. After a few moments, I see a couple of ppl going to check-in. Was not sure, I thought they were maybe checking0out or something else. After a few persons, I went to reception and asked if those guys were checking in and he said yes… I asked for a room that he gave me. Went to the room, the air con was doing the worst sound ever! Went to change room, so had to wait again. They offered me lunch, which was very good. Went to the second room, still very noisy (not as bad as the first one but still enough to prevent you from sleeping). But then, there's hair in the shower! So really bad experience, and won't be coming back! (I still have to spend 2 nights here, unfortunately)

Nice hotel, very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Front staff were very friendly and personable. Valet staff were responsible and kind. Visit redeemed after the last time my mother stayed and they roughed up her car. Room was clean and comfortable, facing the street it wasn't loud at all which was great. Overall, would stay again.

This hotel is very nice. Everyone was so helpful from the Valet to Guest Services. The room is clean and homey. Very comfortable. A Restaurant is in the hotel and heard it was good though I didn't have the opportunity to dine there.

I recently had occasion to eat at the restaurant in the hotel. When my party arrived it was very quiet but after we were seated it filled up quickly. As a result I think they were very much understaffed. We never got a server to come to our table. The hostess ended up being our server. She took orders, delivered our meals, cleaned up the table and brought us our check. It was very busy and one of our dinners did not come until the rest of us had finished eating. Another member of our party arrived late and even though the hostess brought her a menu she never came back to take her order. We ended up sharing our food with her. While they were clearly understaffed and our service experience was not great, our hostess/server did her best doing the job of at least 2 people. She was very apologetic and comped our appetizer and drinks. She also offered dessert on the house but we were on our way to a concert at SAP and did not have time. Our food was still delicious and the hostess made the best of a bad situation. We definitely appreciated her efforts on our behalf.

Really nice looking place, has a cool feel to it. Definitely has character. Food was good, staff were very nice and attentive. Rooms are kinda small and I didn't care for the bed, it was one of the hardest I have ever used. No pool. The bar seemed nice and had a live jazz band playing till midnight. Not much parking also.

My friend and I traveled to San Jose from Reno to watch the Sharks play in game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals. Traffic was a awful, so we arrived at the Hotel De Anza 30 minutes before the game started. When we checked in at the front desk we were informed that I had accidentally booked the room for the following weekend, and that there were no rooms available. So there we were in the lobby panicked and frustrated. Thinking we were going to be very late to the game and debating if we should find another hotel or just sleep in the car. Portia, the front desk agent, did something we will never forget. She said "don't worry guys, I got you! ". She called another hotel right down the street on our behalf. Luckily they had one room left! She reserved the room, gave us directions, and hi-fives as we left her hotel. Portia went way above and beyond her job description to accommodate us. Because of Portia we were able to get to the game on time and not have to sleep in the car! I will from now on exclusively stay at the Hotel De Anza when I'm in San Jose. Portia, if you are reading this, thank you so much! Your considerate personality totally saved us!

This review is for dinner at La Pastaia. We did the prix fixe meal for the dine downtown week in San Jose. My wife and I felt that it was an excellent value for the price. The server recommended a wonderful three grape wine blend as well. The food was very good and the portions were more generous than I expected. The only issue was that we were quite full afterward!

The service was very accommodating for everything including a roll out bed and extra pillows. Unfortunately, we had an alarm go off at around 7 at night, but the hotel was not to blame for that. Valet was very nice as well.

Location is great. Remodeled rooms are nice. Wifi is fantastic. And prices are reasonable.

Had a drink and dinner in the De Anza club. Really nice atmosphere. Delicious pizzas while listening live jazz music. Cool place.

A great place to check in. Good service but I would like to mention their Wi-Fi sucks. Providing a good Wi-Fi service would make it complete hotel.

Room had a scent getting pumped with the air, it doesn't take long until the smell can become overwhelming. Bathroom was large but space was wasted and almost no counter space. Shower was set so that turning water on sprayed out of the bath and onto the floor. No self check out is a minus as well.

Some really good food places within walking distance. Renovated rooms are nice. Wifi is very fast when it works, but sometimes drops in and out.

My wife was using a scooter because of a broken foot. We clearly had a handicapped placard on our car. There was no handicapped parking, there is no handicapped curb at the hotel and they offered to valet part the car for $29.95 while we were at an event in their hotel. Neither the valet nor the manager were of any help. Obviously this hotel has never heard of the American with Disabilities Act!

I love this hotel everything was outstanding and remarkable. I highly recommend this hotel to awesome people cuz me as Awesome guy lol found it the best, if you like to have great nights in California please go with this nice and clean hotel…

Checked in here for a few nights while attending a conference. Underwhelming. Not bad, but it's definitely not the Fairmont. The bad — No pool. Nothing in immediate walking distance. Valet parking. The mattress is terrible. I can't stress this enough. They obviously bought the very cheapest mattresses possible. Plan on having a rough night. The food is only ok. The good — the rooms are newly renovated and clean.

This was a wonderful place to stay and the Internet was better than expected, but it can be a bit pricy. The service was beyond acceptable and the most important the rooms were clean and has a lot of quality.

Older decor, but it was kind of amusing. I'm a 90's baby and I don't remember the decor looking like this in the 90's but it's fun. The lobby is nice. The employees are immaculate. Very professional and friendly which is a HUGE plus. You don't want to be greeted with half ass smiles or half ass service after a long day at the airport. Offered fruits and cookies upon check in. Enjoyed my stay. Rooms are very spacious. Beds are comfortable. Clean. Lots of privacy. All of my amenities worked just fine. I just don't like that when I extended my stay for one night extra the girl at the front desk insisted I check in AGAIN. The card on file should be good enough, especially if I haven't charged anything to my room. I travel VERY often and usually hotels just confirm over the phone and do not bug you. They need to update that somehow. But that would be the only downside.

Once of the nicest hotels that I have ever stayed and I would come back here when I am on another business trip.

I admit I was a little skeptic about the outside looks of the hotel but the hotel turns out to be quite nice. The rooms are clean and it is defiantly more business and relax friendly than its competitor Fairmont that seems to have a staff getting offended and upset over the simplest and common things. If you are going to a business trip to San Jose, I prefer staying here over the Fairmont any day since you will have easier time having meetings, waiting for your clients, and having drinks there without security bothering you over vague reasons that makes the experience unbearable and annoying. The staff here are a lot more friendlier and may try to help you at anyway possible.

Completely disgusted with being charged $200+ for the one night stay. The TV wasn't working, had to call for maintenance twice. Then went to watch 10pm Fox news and NBC and both channels weren't working. Couldn't get a signal. Called the front desk and they say "Oh yes it's a problem throughout the hotel, those stations haven't be working for a few days. Was also not pleased there was no thermostat in the room. No way to control the temperature. Was really hot and stuff so had to open the window. Try sleeping with the window open downtown and hearing all the planes coming in. Hope I get reimbursed, the quality of my room is unacceptable.

This place is crazy immaculate and every single thing in this hotel is clean. The staff is friendly and helpful; and if you are an out of towner they give you directions and tips. It is a little bit more of a boutique hotel but all in all is awesome; and just like at every boutique hotel the staff is what really makes this place wonderful. I also got late check out and it is near most events that happen in the city (like usually within walking distance) so it has location location location.

Arriving at the hotel at 1 AM due to plane problems, I was informed they have a Raid our Pantry. Everything to make a sandwich, fruits, drinks and cookies and only open in the middle of the night for guests. It was great. Room was large, clean and bed and pillows were comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Restaurant attached to hotel was very good also. Our waiter was informed of the menu items. I will definitely stay there again when I am in San Jose or the surrounding area.

The Hotel de Anza was first choice for us since we had tickets for a NHL game of the San Jose Sharks. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the stadium away, it was the perfectly located place to stay for us.
We stayed only 1 night there and have had no experience with the gastronomy.
The staff was attentive and very friendly. The valet parking service costs $ 20.
