Review of HTL 587, Ascend Hotel Collection 2*

4 days before our trip to San Francisco, I read other peoples reviews. I was a little bit concerned about the Hotel locations. Here is why and here is my reviews. From the airport, we took The Bart and got off at Civic Center and walked to the Hotel. The hotel was easy to find. Yes, there was homeless people everywhere but they didn't do anything bad to anyone walking on the street. (even at Union square, you could see them too). When I walked in the Hotel my first my impression was that it was clean. I saw the maids were cleaning the front windows and entrance area every morning. The manager Fernando and the receptionist J were very kind and so helpful. Especially J. We saw him every morning before our all day journey start. He asked us if we needed water or directions every morning. It had a very home type feeling. Like I said maybe from the outside you see homeless people but inside you are safe. The room was charming, the beds were comfy, we received clean towels, water and snacks every day. The bathroom may need more shelf space to put your stuff but you can be creative and work around it. We stayed for 5 days and we were always gone for a long time and we would usually just come back to sleep but it was perfect for us. A bonus was that there was a place called Saigon sandwich kiddy corner from the hotel that we went to a lot before our journey started and Fernando can tell you the story of the place. If you are looking for city and business type hotel, maybe here is not your best option but if you are looking for San Francisco life you will like it.
