A "you get what you pay for" hotel. The breakfast is decent if you're like me and dont care to go places to spend stupid amounts of money for eggs and bacon. The thing that bothered me is that there is no sound barrier between you and outside. So whatever craziness is going on out there, you hear it loud and clear. The lady in the lobby is also way too chill with the phone conversations she has. Just seems like she would rather be somewhere else. Otherwise it's a fine hotel that I was grateful that an Indian spot is attached to it.

Beware. This hotel is not a great place to stay. We had a total stranger enter our room while we were in it. We reacted and he walked off quickly. We immediately reported it and were met with "that could not have happened". And it certainly could not have been an employee. The dude had a key card to our room. The window in our room looked out onto the brick wall of the building adjacent… And it gets better… the same front desk person was rude to another gentleman complaining about a clogged toilet… he wanted a different room because they had no staff to fix the toilet and the woman asked him " how do you know the toilet isn't working". Finally, appearances are deceiving. The neighborhood is NOT safe to walk in alone. Convenient to BART but only if traveling with a companion. For $180 go anywhere else.

We reached there with our paid and confirmed reservation and they told us that they are completely booked and they didn't have a room for us. So if there is a — 5 rating, would give them that.

Decent hotel but nothing special. Located in Oakland's China Town. The hotel lobby had an odor that was hard to place. The one tiny elevator served all floors above ground (separate elevator to the basement, where breakfast was offered), but it was faster taking the stairs. Narrow hallways. The room was tiny, affording only a few feet on either side of the bed. The room appeared as though it was recently renovated, although the walls showed some damage and the ceiling had hand prints in it near the recessed lights. A refreshed vanity, but tired shower. Window looked into a dingy light shaft.

Not worth $200 bad area no where to eat and everything closed early on the weekend It was kinda scary to go out at night.

This is an older building, and despite some renovations, it still feels dated. Some of the floors are not quite level; the AC units are old and quite loud. Rooms are small and a bit dingy. The location is good in some ways, but this particular block has a lot of construction right now. Breakfast is lackluster, and the Wi-Fi isn't great. Fine for a night, but not a place you'll want to spend a lot of time.

It was a late evening, and the guy in the front was a real nice guy. Gave me some tips about the location and real polite. Room was what you would expect. It has a bed. Good night.

Tiny rooms with bright white light that will prevent you from feeling relaxed. Expensive. Old place. Dangerous at night outside. Depressing in general. Clean though.

Staff was great, very friendly and welcoming. But room is too small to begin, then bed itself seems single twin bed size. Anyone near 200lbs, not able to fit for two (as they said for two). Very tight spaces all over, noisy at night due to leaking windows (they say can't fix). Breakfast is low class (front desk says "very good hot breakfast"). Not recommend with this condition.

Yes, the rooms are small — as many have noted here — but they are also clean and the staff is friendly. If you need a relatively affordable stay right in the heart of Oakland, two blocks from 13th Street Bart, this is a solid option.

Do not come to this camel jockey hell hole. They charge about $100 more than the days in by the airport, and their quality is so terrible. They will give you dirty time and are basically racist.

Staff was very friendly. Upgraded our room when we got there seeing we had 3 people, the rooms can be small. Gave us a roll away and no extra charges. Breakfast in the morning was solid, eggs, bacon, potatoes. Located just 2 blocks from the 12th street BART, its convenient for traveling to and from SF. We went for the Raiders game and there is a BART station in front of the stadium and also to the airport. One word of advice, as with any city, this location isn't the best and safest location. Downtown Oakland can be a rough city. If you get a good deal to stay here stay, but just be aware of what times you will be coming back to your hotel and keep a look out. Oakland in general isn't the safest city to be in so again that is probably the biggest downside to his hotel, however there are also not so good neighborhoods in SF as well. Another heads up, my buddy who went with us has T-mobile and didn't have service in our room. Overall this is a cheaper alternative than staying in SF where you are bound to spend an arm and a leg for a place to lay your head.

Stayed for one night on a business trip, and the hotel met my needs. The room was clean, the Wi-Fi signal was strong, and the location was convenient for where I needed to be. This might not be the best bet if you're looking to save money on your family trip to San Francisco by staying in Oakland — the room was small and the window opened onto an air shaft — but for a solo business traveler, it was just fine.

Great little hotel in the heart of Downtown Oakland. Located close to the convention center and East Bay university center. The staff was friendly and made our stay enjoyable. They serve a great hot breakfast with many choices.

Centrally located in downtown. Rooms are well maintained and the price is reasonable.

Seems fine, but I've never stayed there. I stand in their lobby when I get food at Biryani Kebab because the place is packed. Great Chicken Tikka Masala.

Super tiny rooms, confusing parking… probably best to stick with Marriott the next time around…

Situated perfectly in Downtown Oakland, small-ish rooms of varying sizes and styles. Free breakfast everyday, workout space is sparse but usable, Wi-Fi leaves a lot to be desired.

This review is little different … I have a future booking at this hotel and I thought of giving 5 stars now only because of amazing and super friendly reception saff… I had a booking for a different hotel but I cancelled the reservation due rude customer service. But I must say this hotel has won my heart already. I spoke to two different people in two different times and both were very warm and wecoming… as a hotelier its good to see hospitable people working in hospitality :) see you soon guys …

It's very good hotel. Comfortable.

Location leaves a bit to be desired. But not a deal breaker. Rooms are small but I didn't see it as an issue since I only slept in the room. Service was excellent. I didn't do the free breakfast. No other reason than I was out the door by 4am.

No baggage stand and TV is out of order. Tv screen is fuul of pink.

My experience actually in the hotel wasn't bad. The breakfast was horrible. It was like they rationed the food. They would serve about 6 pieces of bacon at a time, when the seating area was full of people waiting. The room was small, but expected in a downtown location. My major complaint is that after my stay they charged me for towels when everything was left and there was no damage to their towels. Over the phone, the general manager stated that they buy them in bulk so they charge you, the customer. I would not recommend this place at this time. Perhaps it is new management, but they are not in the business of hospitality.

We stayed here one night before running the Oakland Marathon. The room is tiny but it was conveniently located close to downtown. They were nice enough to allow us a late check out due to the marathon. I would stay here again for next year's Oakland Marathon.

Check in was easy, however the rate for the room size I got was quite ridiculous and the largest part of the floorplan was the bathroom. Once I got into the room, caught my attention: The hot water line in the bathroom sink was leaking, a painting that was obviously meant to be hung on the wall was just gone. When I attempted to call down to the front desk, I realized that my phone had no line run to it, and was essentially just a handset. Upon going down the elevator, I noticed their elevator safety permit was 2 months out of date. I let the front desk staff know, and they reassured me that the elevator was "fine, they just hadn't put the new permit up" and offered to put me in a different room (my stay was 1 night). Instead, I opted to stay in the same room for a discounted rate, that was really, ultimately, not discounted enough. I took the stairs back up. Then realized my A/C fan was broken. The staff tries really hard, and ultimately it feels like the issues are too large for just them to handle.

I understand that this wasn't in the best part of town, however, for $140/night I would expect clean carpet, and updated CLEAN furniture. I was shocked to read that this hotel had just been renovated. The sofas and throw pillows had terrible stains on them. The screen to the window facing the concrete wall view was off and broken. I had to call for a remote because the room did not have one. I could hear people in the other room, as well as up on the street. This did not make me feel safe. Especially, since there was a walkway from the street down to my room level. The bathroom was surprisingly the cleanest of the suite. The bedroom, although looked like it had clean linens, I couldn't get passed what may have gone on in there because of the disgustingly stained furniture and gross, stained, dirty carpets throughout the hotel. I was so uncomfortable with the idea of staying their, that after my business dinner I called the airline to get an earlier flight home. Therefore, I checked in and out within 2 hours. I was so relieved to not have to sleep there and get a flight home to my safe, clean home. I accidentally left my iPhone charger in the room, and surprisingly, less than 24 hours later it was no where to be found. Shocker. Pros: The front desk was friendly, and the hotel is conveniently located to many popular destinations.

Pros: Close to BART, rooms are remodeled. Cons: Iffy part of town, expensive parking, amateur service. My room was quite small but looked recently remodeled. Louver on window was broken; shower curtain rod was barely attached. Front desk attendant wasn't really trained for customer service but got the job done. Phone wouldn't connect with the front desk. Elevator is barely faster than taking the stairs. Parking is $15/day so figure that in. I guess you get what you pay for so if you want something below $100 near a BART station and can tolerate some issues this place is for you.
