Review of Hotel Karlan San Diego - a DoubleTree by Hilton 4*

I came here for business. Two people made a huge difference here… Richard, the fromt desk supervisor receptionist, and Nickolas (Niko) the server at the restaurant. When my coworker and I checked in, I got a different lady who was a supervisor and my coworker got Richard, also a supervisor, as a receptionist. My receptionist didn't even give the same greeting "Hi! Welcome to DoubleTree Hilton! How can I help you today? " whereas mine was "Can I help you? " in a unpleasant voice. At the end, she didn't even tell me the layout of the area nor helped me find the closest parking. As I walked to my coworker dealing with Richard, he asked if I knew where to park or was given information. I told him no, and he apologized on thr behalf of the other supervisor and helped finished her work for her. He then even gave me a cookie and said it was suppose to be a courtesy to all check-in (and the cookie was suoer good)! Later on, I didn't like my room (they were renovating) and I asked if Ibcould change to a different room closer to my coworker, and Richard didn't hesitate at all to do so! He was great! As for Niko, he is such a beautiful soul, physically and spiritually! He was our waiter/server: his smile and attitude was so pleasant, beautiful, sweet, and kind! He was super down to earth, and just so sweet overall! He constantly checked up on us… and even though he knew we were talking about how great he is, he didn't even let that deterred him from delivering great customer service! He is also the room service guy. We actually initially saw him when we were getting out of the pool, lost like puppies, he told us where to go (as he was doing room service delivering food). His smile was just so contagious, and his laugh was pleasant to hear. He really made both me and my coworker want to be around him and dine in, which we did the last two nights we were there. Niko had to work on his birthday on April 27 too, so we felt bad he didn't get to be off… but that didn't change is wonderful attitude one bit! Great guy! All in all, we both had a great stay because of these two. Now, if only the rest were as good as these two, it would have been a 5 star rating… these two gentleman made a difference!
