Great location, right across the street from the beach entrance. Staff is always helpful and quick to respond. The rooms are middle of the road but they're perfect. Beds are comfortable and the coach fold out in the living room too. Perfect size in a great location. The pool and spas are nice size and well kept along with the game room.

My family has been stying at this resort on and off for a couple decades. The location is awesome (right across the street from the beach). The decor needs a quick update, but it's not so far gone to effect the quality of the stay. The front desk staff is awesome and extremely accommodating.

We love staying here, it feels like our home away from home. Everything is walking distance, the pool and rec room are so fun. Friendly staff. Will be back again and again.

We found this place on online for our family getaway and based on the good reviews decided to book a stay. Once we arrived we were greeted by Jose and Patricia who were very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. We were shown where the room was at and it was very clean and spacious. The resort itself is kid friendly and we will definitely be staying here again soon.

Check in was fast and easy. Jose was very friendly and answered all our questions regarding the local area as my family and I are just visiting. Patricia was kind enough to tell us and show us the local places to eat and provided a map to help us. The room was very clean and we were allowed to see the room before hand to ensure it is what we wanted. Will definitely be staying here again.

Several family members stayed here in several rooms, including my older son who is deaf. They were extremely accommodating, setting him up with a strobe light, fire alarm. In addition to a strobe light doorbell. We were there for several days for my younger son's wedding in Carlsbad, California at Leo Carrillo Ranch. We had a number of events to attend, so getting the attention of my son who is deaf, was made so much easier, without having to use an extra key to invade his privacy going into his room. We could just use the strobe light doorbell, and it immediately got his attention. Hats off to the American Disabilities Act which they were on top of! The rooms were also very clean, and there was a full service breakfast bar that was included in our stay, which again made it so convenient. They have a lovely pool and hot tub for your enjoyment as well. I would definitely stay here again and would also highly recommend it. The staff was very helpful!

My company had a retreat here last week I stayed in room 108. There was an emergency flashlight on the wall when you walk in which I thought was cool. The room was spottless! I got to see inside 4 other rooms and the conference room and all of them were also very clean. All the rooms were large. The beds were comfortable with extra pillows in the closet. The breakfast was alright. Basic stuff. Could have used eggs, but they did have Belgian waffle. The views from this place wonderful. The bar that's attached also had really good food. Try the calamari strips. You can also walk to a took of shops and restaurants and things to do very easily. Basically, If you're looking for a quality hotel near the beach with lots to do, go here.

We love coming down to stay at the Tamarack Resort. We've been coming to Tamarack Resort for 30 years. The place is clean, staff is very nice, accommodating and friendly. They provide so many amenities, like coffee in the rec room, movies to watch, books in the little library, games, etc. The resort is also centrally located to everything. There are shops, restaurants, beach, etc. Another reason we like coming down here is just to RELAX.

It is a nice resort to stay in close to the beach Oceanside is just right down the street to the pier very good lunch restaurant next door it has a swimming pool and jacuzzis.

Decent hotel, great location in Carlsbad. I won't give it the full 5 stars, because some of our room seemed a little dirty (the outdoor area on our balcony in particular gave my kids black feet, and it never came out of their socks ever again) but for what it is it's a good choice for families.

The great thing about this resort is that it's right next to the beach and lots of restaurants and bars. The nightlife is great!

I only ate at the restaurant attached to the hotel. The food and service were both great. I got the swordfish and they did an excellent job. Perfect sized portions and it's also right on the beach.

Hotel overall is very cozy and nice, staff is friendly. But there seems to be some renovation that is needed. Also, the room Wi-Fi is much too slow to get anything done with. Far inferior to other free Wi-Fi in the area. If you have work to do, walk to the nearest Starbucks which is just up the street.

Good food nice wine selection friendly hostess. Smiles all around. I was still hungry after eating a fish and chips, I would recommend getting a salad with that entree.

Gorgeous views of the beach when we we woke, and we were within a couple hundred feet to walk to the sand. The rooms were extra spacious, and the amenities plentiful.

Very nice staff. Very clean. I usually stay at Carlsbad Inn but I will switch to Tamarack Beach Resort! View was awesome, secure parking, less fees, and it reminds me of a friendly apartment courtyard feel. Great!

This is a nice family oriented place to take vacations. The beach is just steps away, legoland and the San Diego zoo and wild animal park are close. The pool is heated and the rec room has a very nice selection of dad's to rent.

Great location right across the beach with beautiful balcony views. The beds and the decor is nice enough. Also close enough to walk to restaurants and bars in Carlsbad.

The staff were professional and the location was great, however the room left much to be desired. The overwhelming smell of just and poor physical condition provided an experience fare from ideal. With the lofty pricing, I expected much nicer facilities.

Come here annually for a family trip. It's a great spot to come de-stress for a week. Nice rooms, solid and quick responses from staff, right on the beach.

Great resort, right on the beach. Great pool & spas. Many excellent views if you are on the beach side, dolphins in the morning & afternoon. Activities in the rec room.

Amazing views. Super kid & family friendly. Rooms have kitchen to keep cost down. The beach is across the street so the sound of the ocean is tranquil. The access is close but the hill to get to the beach is super steep but it's paved so a stroller is do-able. If you have a physical issue or elder, may prevent you from getting there. Lots of restaurants…

It's a perfect family friendly place. A two minute walk to the beach. Great 2 bedroom condos (and others). Slightly dated look on the inside and the kitchens need updating but highly recommend an ocean view room!

This was an excellent hotel right across the street from the Carlsbad State Beach and within walking distance of lots of shops and restaurants. They allowed us to park there earlier in the day (before we could check in) which was so convenient. The room was very big with a balcony and a great view. The only downside (and why I didn't give 5 stars) was the breakfast. Besides the fresh waffles, the options were scarce. Didn't even have liquid creamer for coffee. But it was a great stay. Highly recommend.

The hotel is a little old but they have maintained it rather well with small updates that make a big difference. The patios are very large and scenic. The area, right off of PCH, is kind of noisy but if you are a people watcher it's a great area. There are numerous places to to gain access to the beach, eat and shop withing walking distance. I would definitely come back and stay here again. The best selling point is their front desk staff. Absolutely everyone I have spoken to or had assist me has been absolutely remarkable. Friendly, accoomdating and has gone the extra mile.

Tamarack Beach Resort, Carlsbad, Ca. Is near the best beach in SoCal Tamarack Beach. Great pool and club house too. Great all around people and service… LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.

Everything was perfect. Staff were accommodating, pool was clean, beach view was awesome. We would stay again in a heart beat.

Interesting mix between a timeshare and a sea side hotel. Pleasant staff clean rooms with kitchenettes and a small laundry. Located next to many excellent restaurants including the in hotel restaurant. Right across the street from the beach and the boardwalk.

This place is all about the location. Right on the beach, just slightly out of the village area, its away from the main foot traffic but still close to everything. Having priced other hotels, its a relative bargain. However, the room and amenities can be found elsewhere in the country for much less. Tip: forget their lackluster continental breakfast and walk to any one of the nearby eateries. Pool area could get loud with kids and returning guests so recommend avoiding poolside rooms. Wifi worked ok, included with room, though on the slow side. (

We booked a room through Orbitz and got a dungeon. There was no oceanfront view… no pool view … I was looking at an awning for five days. When we offered to pay extra for an upgrade we were informed that would not be possible due to the number of guests. (which was bullKAKA because the place was a ghosttown). At $250/night you are better off sleeping on the beach or in your car.

It was nice, wonderful service.
