I really enjoyed my stay at Ayres Lodge. Your staff was so friendly at all times. I loved the gracious 12p. M. Check out time. My daughter loved your pool! It was the perfect temperature, clean and had the best hours of access ever. She also really enjoyed the cookie hour :-) I enjoyed my room. The beds were so comfortable and clean. The outdoor space with lawn chairs and the koi pond made the space feel just that much more relaxing. I also really appreciate how quiet the grounds were! I will definitely stay again.

Awesome CUSTOMER service! The entire staff are so friendly. My grand daughter really enjoy the fresh cookies. The pool is heated and open until 11pm. I am one happy satisfied CUSTOMER. I will be back soon!

Comfy and clean hotel. Location is really convenient with food & bank across the parking lot. I'm very impressed by the cleanness of the bath tub, which looks like just renovated recently. The coffee maker can be better but workable. The floating stair is quite scary for me personally, and since there's no elevator, the luggage was a little bit problematic.

Pros: Rooms are clean and nice. Location is very convenient. The staff was very warm and built rapport by being themselves while professional. Plenty of access to shopping in the same plaza. Cons: The freeway noise can be distracting when the air conditioning isn't running. Bathrooms and light switches were awkward and the fitness center is underwhelming: Free weights, an elliptical and a treadmill.

Ayers Lodge is one of my family’s favorite get a ways. The staff is super friendly and they always there to help with anything we may need. And the fresh baked cookies every night, to die for! My boys love the Koi fish pond and swimming all day.

Quiet, clean room, nicely updated and appointed, very comfortable bed. Front desk lady was very friendly on check-in. Garden looked lovely and we would have enjoyed that had it not been so hot on the day we stayed with you! Will definitely return and recommend you to others. Only thing that could be improved is the quality of the breakfast. Everything else perfect.

Your staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful. That alone would be enough for us to return. The room was clean and the grounds were reasonably well taken care of, considering the repairs. Unfortunately the fire upon our day of check out put a damper on our trip. It was overall a extremely nice experience staying at your hotel. Two of your staff that I remember being very helpful and nice were Heather Jolly and Larry Clark. Thank you for the hospitality.

Love it. Stayed 3 days in springtime. Management is lovely and very kind. We got a room first without a microwave but as we had baby we need that, so after explaining to front desk they immediately switched our room and without any extra charge. We love those freshly made cookies at evening after whole day at amusement parks. Breakfast room is nice and clean. Breakfast is good variety, specially love the available of fresh fruits and coffee was good too.

Very nice modern place to stay. Room was very clean and spacious, but no fridge. Coffee in reception always hot and fresh cookies from 7 — 8pm. Good breakfast selection. Couldn't ask for more.

Great room, great staff. Breakfast and cookies were terrific. Only one complaint. No waffles for an entire week. Staff stated they were out of mix. Also, they frequently ran out of supplies in the breakfast area. They were quick to respond though.

Great one night stay the day before we took our boy to UCSD to check him into the dorms. Clean, relaxing, very charming little place. The pool and hot tub were great after a 9 + hour drive to San Diego area. Quick getaway to UCSD the next morning. Thank you! (Pix are in the room and beforehand).

Great facility. The staff were very nice and efficient. The rooms were great, the bed comfortable, and the staff went out of their way to have our breakfast ready early. We were with a group of birders, and we needed to hit the road to make it to Kitchen Creek by 5:30 am. This wold normally be before the 6 am breakfast.

If you ever want to get away or even family time… this is my go to place. It’s very very clean and spacious and the staff (Heather) is so accommodating. I stayed for 2 nights and I really felt so relaxed… got some very much me time. This is my 5 star stay for sure. I didn’t partake of the breakfast however when you walk into the office you feel that country getaway relaxation instantly. The breakfast room is so inviting… loved it!

We came to Alpine for a nearby family wedding. The hotel location was perfect and we were delighted by the experience we had staying at Ayres. The exercise room met my daughter's needs and while she worked out I enjoyed sitting reading in the patio area. We had fun after the wedding relaxing in the hot tub. Our room was comfortable and having lots of coffee in the lobby and a nice breakfast buffet made our mornings pleasant.

We really enjoyed our stay — the room was nice and clean, everything worked as expected. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we did enjoy the cookies they baked for the customers every night. Although our room was on the freeway side, we weren't bothered by the traffic at all, as the property is situated well below the freeway level. We highly recommend this hotel!

Great customer service. Very friendly and helpful. No complaints at all about the service. Rooms are standard but comfortable. No hair dryer, that was an inconvenience. I wish they put an extra trash bag for guests. Continental breakfast is very low maintenance. Powdered eggs, biscuits and gravy, no waffle batter for waffle iron. Great location in Alpine, close to food. Enjoyed my stay.

It was a clean and comfortable hotel. I prefer hotels with a balcony, but other than this hotel not having this feature it was wonderful. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean. They are currently updating rooms but the construction did not bother us — we did not hear it. The breakfast was good and the kitchen staff was awesome.

Larger newly renovated and furnished room that was perfect after a long day of motorcycle touring. Fresh cookies were a nice touch too! Price point for value was an A+ Clean room and warm professional staff = a winner in my book!

Clean and comfy! They were so awesome in letting us check-in at 10:00am. Heated pool and jacuzzi were a plus as well as the free continental breakfast, fresh baked cookies at 7:00pm, and free shuttle to the outlets and casino! We enjoyed our stay! Will be coming back again!

Once again had a great stay at the Ayers Hotel in Alpine. I want to compliment the maintenance department for their quick response on an issue, even though we were leaving. Maintenance departments rarely get credit when things are going well, but always get blamed when things aren't going well. Thank you. P. S. No I do not work in the maintenance field, but am a retired Principal who knows the value of good employees. Another great stay.

Love to stay at your hotel! The room is very nice & the staff is friendly & wonderful. The only complaint I have is that during our 10 night stay we were left without wash cloths one day, no new plastic glasses on at least two separate days, & no coffee cups on one day. None of this ruined the trip for us but was a bit inconvenient. If not for these issues, I would have rated our stay as excellent.

I stay at this hotel every time I come to California. It is clean, the staff is friendly and helpful and you can walk to restaurants and stores without having to cross the street. I always enjoy my stay here.

Location is excellent, very easy to access the abundant local scenes. The breakfast is a great plus, not just coffee and pastries, but actual hot items! The room was clean and more than adequate for our needs. The staff is VERY friendly and knowledgable. No negatives, unless you want to get nit picky and complain about the alarm clock, which was very hard to read. Definitely will be staying again.

Nice place but difficult to navigate. On a long road trip and our toddler couldn't handle getting the rest of the way to San Diego we stopped here for the night. Room was nice enough. Beds were comfortable. My big complaint was that the desk clerk didn't inform us of the complimentary breakfast when we checked in. So by the time we headed downstairs, it was ended. That said, the staff who were cleaning the breakfast area went above and beyond and offered us some cereal &milk, yogurt, and fruit.

Very comfortable at a moderate price. Our room faced the back courtyard area. It was surprisingly quiet and provided nice outdoor seating areas. The bed was very comfortable.

We showed up just after breakfast service was supposed to be over and the Staff kept it open until we were finished eating. Location of the hotel is excellent being within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. We will return!

It was nice and quiet. Found bugs on the bath towel I went to use after my shower. It was a little pricey, we thought. I'm sure that's due to being close to the casino. Their hotel was $20 more with $30 food credit. So, theirs was about the same price with a little more amenities.

We have been staying here for 5 days now, and I couldn't have asked for a better stay! We arrived 2 hours before check in and were given the first available room. They told us about the free breakfast (which had so many options all week! ) and the cookies! The grounds, pool, hot tub and lobby were exceptionally clean, the designated smoking area was so well maintained. We had a few things to print off and I was pleasantly surprised that they had a computer and printer to use free of charge for guests. That saved us big time for our plane tickets back home! House keeping was great, fresh sheets daily on great comfy beds. Plenty of TV channels. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that our room didn't have a refrigerator. We were never asked if this was something we wanted, I had just assumed every room had a refrigerator. We could have asked after check in to switch rooms, but it wasn't really a huge deal. I would just suggest that they let you know if there is a fridge or not in your room. Overall we will definitely consider staying here again in our next adventure to San Diego.

One of the nicest hotels I've been too. The staff are always smiling and helpful. The breakfast was amazing. There isn't enough room to say everything nice about this place I highly recommend staying here. Only 30 minutes from San Diego Zoo traffic not to bad either on the way.

We really like this hotel as it is close to everything we want to do. Hope at sometime in the future to use the shuttle to Casino. And next time will try to get a microwave and a refrigerator, would have been very beneficial to us this time. Will also call hotel direct to make reservations so that we can arrange for a first floor room as we are elderly and toting our bags up the stairs was hard and for us a bit dangerous. Over all tho great stay.

Excellent, friendly staff. Room was large and comfortable. Bed was very good, and clean. Room faced the freeway but was still quiet. Bathtub/shower was great. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were wonderful. The only negative that I would report was the fact that our room did not have a fridge. We will definitely stay again!

Absolutely loved this place, from the staff to outdoor areas and the room was very nice! The perfect spot just outside of San Diego. We will definitely be back!

Everyone was fantastic and the space was amazing. We spent most of our spare time in the pool, and enjoyed the cookies. :) we did however find the beds somewhat small, but everything was lovely, really. Thank you!

The hotel room was comfortable. The staff were friendly and quite accommodating. We truly enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Although you had to microwave few of the items, they turned out delicious. The breakfast manager, Brian kept the breakfast bar well-stacked. He was also efficient, friendly and quite patient with all the guests. Our one drawback was that we could hear the outside noise from the guests coming in and out their rooms at night. We had a hard time getting a good night's sleep for the 2 nights we stayed there. Other than that it was a nice and clean hotel to stay.

I stayed at a room with a king bed. When I selected this room, it was described with a sofa bed. Sofa bed was not there. I came from a lot trip/day and I was tired. I was not going to talk to anyone at 3am to change rooms. Your hotel is not pet friendly. I had to leave my dog in my car all night. I woke up late after a long day but I made it on time for breakfast. Your staff was rude with my wife telling her that the breakfast area was closing. There was about 20 more minutes before closing time. Your hotel was my first stop on a long trip to New York.

I love this hotel. It's pricey by Arizona standards, but overall very nice. One of the biggest reasons I enjoy staying here with my motorcycle club on our annual ride to San Diego is the hot tub. So nice after a long day of riding the twists and turns through the mountains. Unfortunately, on this last stay, the whirlpool jets were not working. Real bummer. Also, I would think with 10 rooms booked by our club, you could give a better discount for future stays. Love the chocolate chip cookies!

I absolutely LOVED staying here. The grounds are beautiful and quiet. The rooms were comfortable and also quiet. The front desk staff was VERY nice and I liked the breakfast. The only part I didn't like was I had to leave.

The hotel was quaint and cozy. They offered a full continental breakfast and the rooms were clean, elegant and roomy. The staff was friendly and eager to please. There are plenty of things to do close by, and plenty of restaurants to choose from; as well as a health food market. We will definitely stay here again next time we vist Alpine, CA.

Quiet, clean, and comfortable, with fabulous pillows. I appreciated the good value, the breakfast, and the general peaceful atmosphere. The personnel were uniformly polite and nice to deal with.

My family of four and our dog stayed here for a few days while transitioning into a new home and were blown away. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly. In the office there is a sweet cat my toddler son adored, they gave him a cookie and offered him milk and overall were just very sweet and kind. The backyard is very spacious with a large grill, lawn chairs and tables, plenty of room to explore, and a small koi fish pond. We stayed in a less fancy room due to having a pet with us, however regardless it was still fairly nice and extremely clean and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend.

You LOVED our stay at your wonderful Inn! The cat in the common room was so wonderful! It was so cozy and clean… everyone was friendly… The only down was the jacuzzi was on the fritz… We will enjoy that on our next trip to Alpine! The breakfast was a suprise… normally breakfast at hotels consists of sugary pastried but you had EVERYTHING! Even bisquits and gravy! The cookie reception was a nice touch too! The beds are SO comfortable! VERY NICE PLACE ~~! AAA+++

Room was very clean & cleaned everyday during our stay. The breakfasts were very nice & helped us start each day. We loved the choc chips cookies provided each night! It was nice to have the swimming pool & hot tub available after each long day. Room was nice & quiet!

Recent change in cable provider effected the TV in our room. Every time we turned the TV off someone from the office had to come to our room to reset the TV inorder to watch. Recommend the Phillips TV's, that experienced this problem need to be replaced. This is our fourth time staying at Ayres Lodge and highly recommend. We will continue to use in the future but will make sure the TV is working properly.

4th visit. Always wonderful. However seems management or staff has changed a bit. There was an employee by the name of Bryan who was not exactly pleasant. He seemed to be very irritated by requests from guests during breakfast. His answers were very rude and disrespectful. He was raising his voice and threatened to throw someone's toast away that was sitting in the toaster while they took they're other food to their table. Perhaps he didn't have a Valentine… Otherwise everything else is always perfect! Thanks for everything Ayres! Happy Valentine's Day! (except Bryan)

I care for both my elderly parents and need mini vacations now and then to refresh and avoid burn-out. I always choose Ayres in Alpine. The staff are friendly and helpful, the price is reasonable, the rooms are comfortable and up-to-date, the area is pleasant and quiet and the close-by restaurants are so convenient. I enjoy reading in the courtyard, taking walks in the area, or just hanging out in the room. The only thing I'd improve upon is the breakfast area. It needs to be larger or rearranged so more people can select/prepare their food at a time as well as sit down and eat their breakfast with adequate space. Thank you, Ayres. I'll be back in March!

Loved this hotel and will go back for sure. The rooms are very clean and comfortable! The hotel itself has an at home feel. Loved the fresh baked cookies and the awesome breakfast! The area in the back with the Coy pond was my favorite. Very peaceful and relaxing. I also enjoyed the use of the shuttle to and from Viejas. I can't wait to stay there again!

Room very clean and comfortable and quiet. Wi-Fi services was the best we've experienced anywhere for free. Comparable to home internet connection. Staff very friendly and helpful. They printed out directions to an outing for us. Two concerns hardly worth mentioning… 1) Our card key did not work on one occasion 2) the headboard of our bed slapped against the wall with the slightest movement. Would/will stay here again.

A Gem nestled in the pines about 30 minutes above San Diego. I chose this hotel over nearby casinos and other hotels because of the location, price, and the fact I had stayed at the Ayers Moreno hotel the night before. The price was the same, the furnishings the same — even down to the faucets, but everything else was very different. This is a two story lodge with all rooms opening to the south in the main building and the east in the 2nd building next door. No elevators, and *covered* walkways are open to elements. Easy and plentiful parking — even with several very large trucks taking up several spaces each. Surprisingly, the lodge is located right below the freeway as cars and semis slowly climb out of the San Diego valley. Yet, I don't recall hearing any vehicles during my stay. There are a few selections for eating within the strip mall right next door — Very clean, and pool was fine. Bed was also fine, although strangely lumpy the next morning. *Breakfast* in the tiny room next to the front desk consisted of several types of carbohydrates; cereals, breads, plain bagels, etc. No waffles (although there was huge basket of syrup. Odd), juice, coffee, yogurt and the only protein was a Jimmy Deans Sausage/Egg/Cheese bagel. All in all, slightly more than a true European "continental breakfast" and way less than you would normally expect from a "breakfast hotel" here in the states. It was all delicious, but not very satisfying.

I stayed here for 6 days, and it was excellent. The room was beautiful, and the staff was very kind. The pool is heated, and the lodge was very comfy. Also there is a very cute hotel kitty named "Cali" that makes staying at this hotel just like home.

2nd stay at Ayres and it got better! This time we stayed in which is on the back side of the building. Nice quiet wooded and grassy courtyard area off of our room which was very appreciated coming from Tucson. Other Inn guests were so friendly. We upgraded our room this trip and it was so worth it! Clean room and bath, great bed and bedding, nice flat screen TV, and the most friendly accommodating staff! We stayed two nights partly for the fun of the nearby Casino (free shuttle to Viejas from Ayres) but also for some down time before hitting San Diego beaches. At check out the Inn Manager printed out directions to his favorite Italian/pizza spot in San Diego after we asked for a recommendation. What a recommendation — Filippis Pizza Grotto is to die for! Our next four days we stayed at the Hilton on Mission Bay. Sorry Hilton — no comparison. At Ayres you are appreciated as a guest and they let you know it! On our next trip to San Diego. We will be asking for "our room" at the Ayres for our break before hitting the beach! If you want to have some fun in Alpine, hit the Casino Bar and play a game of Golden Tee golf and enjoy the good music they play.

I liked the hotel, but was disappointed that the charge for my dog to stay was high on top of the highly priced room. On top of that, I was not allowed to leave her in the room except to walk to the office for breakfast. That meant she had to be left in the car while we went to dinner around the corner. The breakfast was very good, the room was clean, and the grounds were nicely groomed. I think that they can get away with the high price because there aren't any other choices in the area.
