My room was upgraded to a room with fireplace though I didn't use it but I enjoyed the gesture. The room was quiet pleasant & cozy. Hotel is an old building that has been updated to a modern/ rustic style nothing fancy but charming and functional with newer features. Lots of amenities such as game room, bar, restaurant, pool, gym & a SAUNA. Lots of parking space, walking distance to the village, live music on weekends, & the food was so good. I really enjoyed my daily breakfast & my stay.

Room was clean, but nothing special. First room was noisy so we moved to a room on the 3rd floor. Front desk was really great to move us. Just know the walls are paper thin and elephants live above you. Get an end room on the top floor.
Restaurant service was very slow, though provided with a forced friendliness one can only call condescension. It was 10 minutes before our server came and we nearly 30 minutes until we got our drinks. At 25 minutes, when I asked the passing hostess to check on them, she said the bartender was just really busy now.
The manager should have been out apologizing in advance for the slow service, but never saw a manager. Not once.

The building from the outside was nice looking, great location! Inside it seems as if it was designed for very short people. My husband and I are both average heights and we could touch the ceiling on the first floor. The room inside the raised the ceiling a couple feet, the rooms didn't look terrible, but there were ants all over the place. If we didn't have so much stuff out and a 1 yr old I would ask for a different room in hopes ants didn't crawl on me at night.

Since the holiday inn purchased the north woods resort they have upgraded many things. Yes it is an older hotel, but it has way more appeal now then it did before. The game room for the kids is great. The restaurant was redone. The food is good. Rooms were updated. They are nice. You cannot expect Hyatt quality it is a holiday inn. Many of the hotels in big bear are older and in comparison the holiday inn is much nicer. I have stayed at that property many times before and after the changes. It is a great little hotel and right next to the village. It also has a microwave and fridge which some do not. As well as small pool and jacuzzi. I will stay there again.

Very nice place to stay. It is within walking distance to the village center. Which is great as parking around Pine Knot Ave. Can be tricky. The hotel itself is nice with the pool, spa, kids games lounge, and nice restaurant. I would have given it a 5 star rating, however, our room had an ant issue that was confined to the desk. Anything you put on the desk would have an ant. But no where else. For the money you pay, shouldn't have ants.

We booked a King room for the weekend and were given a small room with a dungeon like window at eye level. The hallways are dingy and there was a leak dripping water on the carpet on the way to our room. We told the front desk about on the first day — and at check out on the third day, it's still dripping and the carpet is still wet. The elevators are not well marked and a bit hidden. The TV didn't work because the cable box wasn't turning on so we had to move it from behind …the armoire and reset it manually. The last night, we decided to turn on the gas fireplace for a little while and the timer didn't work properly; it never shut off and by 3 am, our room was like an oven. The AC couldn't keep up with the heat. We called the front desk to see if they could shut it off but were told no one from maintenance was there. So we were just left to bake in our room. The positives are the appetizers and free drinks at happy hour with live music, along with the great location and easy walking to town. The pool and jacuzzi are okay, but awkwardly set up. The weight room is very small but does have a sauna. The bed, pillows, and sheets were comfortable when the room wasn't like a sauna. We were very surprised by the lack of maintenance and disrepair for something called a resort.

We had a great experience here, every employee we interacted with was great and super friendly, rooms were clean and updated. I enjoyed the happy hour at the hotel bar (Stillwater), they had a descent craft beer selection, and it was nice drinking outside by the water. You also can't beat the location, as a big time drunkard I love the proximity to many fun bars such as Murray's. If you are going to a concert at the Cave it's just a few minutes walk away, in the morning you are walking distance from two amazing coffee places with vegetarian options… you are also a close walk to a bunch of amazing restaurants and of course the lake is a short walk as well… we had the best time.

I spent 3 nights at the Lodge and had a good experience overall. The service was very good as I was there on a busy weekend when the hotel was at capacity. My room was clean, linens were fresh, and the bed was comfortable. One evening I had a burger at the onsite restaurant and it was very good. The only negative part of my experience was the noise level on the first night. The walls seem a bit thin and I could hear people talking in the hallway and the sound of the shower in the rooms on either side. Just take earplugs and all will be well.

The hotel was beautiful. The rooms were spacious and clean. Happy Hour was perfect and the play room was a perfect addition to having little ones.

Great place with nice staff. Has a cute 'wooden cabin' theme. The rooms are clean and spacious. There is an exercise room, sauna, game room, etc… Free Wi-Fi and the television has channels like HBO. Will go again if I visit Big Bear.

This is our 2nd time staying here the only think I miss from last year was they had popcorn and cookies last year but they stated they don’t do that anymore. That was a bummer but they lady at the front desk provided us with free coupons for our kids to eat at their restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The food was delicious especially the curry chicken they had. The kids loved the game room and had a great time.

Used to be Northwoods Inn now is The Lodge at Big Bear, Hilton. Have stayed at hotel since the 80's. Unfortunately Hilton made the decision to redo the hotel and take out all of the hand made rustic furniture. Ruining the cabin feel to the room. Stayed 8 days recently. Staff is very kind and always willing to help. Food is still very good.

It’s now part of IHG group. Operates under holiday inn. Right in the village, close to everything. Free beer and wine during happy hour. Good with families. Reserve early, could be pricey last minute.

They can improve in attention to their guests.

Big bears namesake lodge is about as good as it's going to get up there. Everything you'd expect but not really luxurious, includes a small gym with a small sauna which is nice. Bedrooms are comfortable, the ground floor has access to the parking lots via sliding glass doors which is convenient.

Location is great, near tube park and restaurants. Rooms very old, could do with some updates. Stopper in tub didn't work, A/C didn't work properly so room was too hot and dry. The restaurant was good for evening meal, breakfast service was extremely slow. They added an extra resort and taxes fee at check out which was unexpected which leaves a bitter taste. For the price, they could do a lot better.

In a good place to spend a good weekend.

The hotel is beautiful it looks like a cabin. Every room has a balcony with an amazing view. The hotel has a pool, jacuzzi, Fitness room, a game room, and a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. From the hotel you can walk into this little village that has amazing restaurants and many gift shops. My overall experience was great.

Really enjoyed our stay at The Lodge. The staff was super friendly, and the hotel has lots of extras we didn't expect, like snacks and drinks in the lobby, live music, a great game room for the kids, and a convenient restaurant that let kids eat free. It's not a luxury place, but we didn't expect that. The rooms were clean and spacious. Would definitely return.

When we walked in on Friday evening, they had live music and were serving free drinks (wine or beer) and an appetizer in the lobby! Wow! The rest of our stay was quiet and comfortable. We played pool as well as Clue in their game room which also had some gaming systems and foosball. The lodge is basically right in "the village" so super easy to walk to all the restaurants and cute shops. I also recommend checking out the zoo up at Big Bear! It is small but well worth the money!

We came to Big Bear the week before and walked by the lodge and found it so lovely that we decided to come back just to stay here. It’s walking distance from the Village — which is where all of the shops are. Our room was nice and clean. We decided to book a room with a fireplace — it was gas running. But we were kinda worried that the gas continued running even though it was turned off throughout the night — we called the front desk and they said it was fine though.

The lodge was nice — the gateway to a lot of nice shops and tourist friendly places. The staff was friendly and helpful. I especially liked the gas log in the room — kept it very toasty for a december night. Nice game room for the kids and the restaurant was also very good.

Place has a great location because it's right next to the main drag in Big Bear City. As a result you can walk there from the hotel. Beds are comfortable and the room is clean something you would expect at a Holiday Inn. The staff is helpful especially Erica who really runs the place. Apparently the place is pet friendly which I can understand if you have a cat but barking dogs just don't do it for me.

I love being here but the service at the restaurant stillwells was very questionable… our waitress, if I could call her that, barely looked at us. I wouldn't of mind paying for this expensive meal but she was not good doing her job. The hotel Is a great place to stay recommend it 100%.

Was there for a conference. Facilities were good. Staff was great. Only complaint was that the water was put in plastic coffee containers there for the water tasted like diluted coffee. Parking was good also. The lodge is very close to downtown Big Bear so all the amenities are very available and easily accessible.

Handicap access is questionable. There was a blocked off wheelchair elevator, but if you're not in a chair good luck getting down those stairs to get to the actual elevator or the 1st floor rooms. Tried using the little breakfast order slip they leave for you to hang on the door. Scheduled breakfast for 8am. 8:30 rolled around and still no sign. So we called and they had no idea. We told them to forget it since the whole point was not having to think about stuff first thing …in the morning. The bed was incredibly soft on one side and rock hard on the other. Ordered dinner received grilled cheese that was somehow burnt on the inside. Drink machines were all empty. The staff was polite and the room was clean, that is literally the only nice thing I can say about this place.

This place is very conveniently located. Hotel staffs are excellent. Rooms are clean and parking is easy and plenty. The walls are not as soundproof as I would like. The breakfast buffet was excellent! I couldn't verify any of the negative reviews, it had all the basics of a breakfast buffet and an omelette station.

Our pass through The Lodge at Big Bear Lake went very well. The room had ample space and was clean. The service was good and the breakfast at the Stillwell's restaurant was the same. We would stay again, and I would recommend it.

Everything was very good expect the breakfast buffet and the restaurant more options for breakfast, I like the fire place in the room and it was at walking distance from the village, the lake and a couple bars which was great because we didn't have to drive at all.

The night is 92 dollars already with taxes no breakfast but the hotel is very good. Has all the services.

We stayed at this resort at the end of May for a conference. I don't normally write reviews but we had such great service I wanted to make sure to post it online. The staff was outstanding they were so nice, especially Paul and Tara at the front desk. They were friendly and courteous even under a lot of pressure. The cleaning staff was great too! Nothing seemed to rattle them and we were a tough bunch! We will definitely stay here again.

So. After the dozen + times My wife and I have been up here to Big Bear. We finally decided to stay at Northwoods. We were treated with warm courteous Front desk folk. And once all settled in, We decided to head down to the bar and see what was happening. We met Raumey. This Guy was AWESOME. I could rant and Rave about this guy all day long. Top Notch. And also an Award winner at Mandalay Bay LV for best Fiji Apple Martini, which my wife loved. Roumey is a true gentleman and a scholar. We left for a while as he was going off shift. We decided to walk across the street for a quick Bingo evening to only come back to the Bar at Northwoods to meet Dianna. Dianna Is a sweet heart, A fun loving free spirit with a way of growing on you really fast. Next thing We knew. We were 5 gin and tonics deep to realize that it was midnight. All in all. This place and people that work at the bar. Made our whole trip!. Stop by and say Hi! And careful with the drinks. 2 will do you in. ;-).

I love this Hotel. Everything is was good. Had fun with my children. Its a good hotel but not a Resort. Need to have shuttle service. A person to help answer guest question. The front desk is too busy to answer all the question.
