The people were great. The room was clean. The lobby has ice and a place to sit but it was uncomfortable and humming. A better shared space or community space would be nice. Also, I really hate those shelves with circles in them at motel sixes; they waste space and make the rolled up towels stick out at eye level. They're just dumb. I appreciate motel six for being affordable, accepting pets, and easy phone reservations. However, some are nicer than others. The one on Newport Blvd in Costa Mesa is conveniently located but the office staff is all Arabic/Muslim men who denigrate women. The Big Bear Motel Six is completely better because the peole are genuine.

Room was clean and staff was very nice. I just wish the rooms had a few extra basic amenities. No coffee pot, hair dryer, not even shampoo… and I forgot mine. But overall it’s a clean less expensive option for a quick stay.

This is a surprisingly clean no frills hotel. The price was so cheap $49.00 and the location was close to everything. It's not a place for views and there wasn't shampoo in the shower. But you can't beat the great deal and nice staff. We were there on a Tuesday so that great price probably had to do with the day of the week as well. I would come again to be in the mountains and lake for cheap.

My wife discovered a previous occupant's hair shavings in the shower; that was kind of gross. Other than that, the room was clean. We registered as a group of four, yet there were only towels enough for three. The person at the desk seemed surprised when my mother-in-law asked for where a church might be where she could attend a service the next morning; the look on that person's face was as if she had asked him how she could get to Mars. That said, the person used the front desk computer to Google locations for two churches, so after about 10 minutes we had a destination and a route to get to them, so everything worked out fine in the end. No queen-sized beds in the facility made sleeping a little cramped. Location was fine in that it was convenient enough to everything in the area we wanted to visit. Price was OK in comparison to other places but didn't appreciate the way the price increased so much because it was a holiday weekend — but that could be said for virtually every other motel in the area too. It's just the way it is…

We enjoyed our time there. Rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. Our initial booking was for a room with 1 queen bed, but it was more like a full bed, we were two full grown adults so we wouldn't fit in just 1 full bed. We went to see if there was anything else available and they moved us to another bedroom with 2 full beds, for the same price. That made the difference and allowed us to actually sleep at night. The bed covers had some cigarette burns on them but overall the room was decent. Definitely overpriced but the season was the main reason for this overly expensive room. Location was fine. Not too close to the village which made it quiet at night, but close enough to get there in a 5 minute drive.

I didn't book a reservation because I didn't expect to pay the $90 per night for a room. I didn't realize there was a running event that weekend so I was shocked when I learned that a room for, in this case, one occupant was $164 per night. As a senior, and feeling like I had no options, I booked two nights at that rate. Twice in two days the shower didn't work because the head was blocked with debris, so for two mornings I didn't get a shower. After complaining to the manager of these conditions and the related costs, she allowed me to stay on Sunday night for free. It was gracious and, despite the issues with the shower, and blaming myself for not doing better research, I left very satisfied with the room and the service and I would definitely stay there again. Thank you.

Stayed with my husband and daughter. We checked in earlier than the check in time of 3pm which was so convenient. The clerk who checked us in was Lisa. She was so friendly and gave great recommendations for what to do around town. We will be back for sure. Our room was clean and nice. Thank Big Bear Motel 6 and thanks again Lisa.

Tired and needing relaxation and sleep we quickly found it at the “Motel 6 Big Bear! ” The Manager was just awesome and extremely friendly also refreshingly helpful. This motel room was well furnished and uniquely designed with a “modern style feel. ” I highly recommend travelers to experience a relaxing stay with the Motel 6 Big Bear! It’s also near very great dining, shopping and various beverage tasting venues.

The price was fine, but maintenance of the room was not very good. The window had a slide lock that was broken and made it very difficult to open or close. The aluminum track was deeply scratched so this was not a new problem. The air conditioner only blew warm air. Room 136. Our friends stayed in room 113 which was in the middle of the building and seemed better cared for than ours. I don't expect a great room for $58 a night, but you could do better than that. On the plus side, the beds were fine and the TV worked well.

Had a pretty Good experience. Maintenance could have done a better job of cleaning the room up a little more and leaving more towels since it was for two people. But other than that the receptionist at the entrance of the office was courteous and very helpful.

Like all Motel 6. Not very good but to stay it is enough.

Nice & quiet. The entry door to my room needs to be aligned properly. It would not close without slamming it & probably disturbed others in building. I was in.

Where do I start? We were tired wanted to rest our heads after a fun day at bear mountain on arrival there was a modest line that moved fast. We ✔ in and go to our room I used restroom and notice a long hair on hand towel and tossed it to side then proceed to go lay on pillow but I see another long hair after I pull back sheets and blankets another long hair and a few nasty pubic hairs! I call front desk they brought sheets but She said we had to leave room while she changed bedding. I declined since It was 21 degrees out and snowing… lol Worse customer service ever! When checking out around 9 there were no coffee cups and we had to wait for coffee Totally overpriced If you ask me.

Stayed one night… there were pubic hairs on bed sheets… and longer hairs on towels… when I requested a replacement set of sheets the maid refused to install them on the bed unless my family vacated the room despite blizzard storm conditions… the premium Internet did not work despite numerous calls to the support desk… floor under beds was dirty and not swept… bathroom design was modern and clean… TV and remote worked… overall I was disappointed given my $300 booking fee per night.

The room was clean and did not smell like smoke (in a non-smoking room). I appreciated the quick check-in, the quick hot water and hot air with the heater, and the awesome big TV with cable. Thanks Motel 6!

It's the most basic of rooms, but that's just fine! We just need a simple, clean room to crash in after snowboarding, and this place is right on target for a great price. We've stayed many times here. Beds are comfy, rooms are nicely remodeled, just enough space for our family of four and gear. Additionally the staff was great when we needed something. My only dings would be: I wish the bathroom light and fan were on separate switches, there's no clock, and the heater fan is loud and takes some experimenting to dial in the right temp. We bring a night light for the bathroom, and a clock, so you can see we like it here and keep coming back! Oh, nice TV and channels.

All right… only the floor of the tub was dirty!

It could be better if the Wi-Fi was free of charge…

A little over priced for the weekend for what you get. Nice rooms. Hardly any insulation. Had to keep the heat cranked at high to stay warm at night. The people sleeping in the bed by the window never got warm enough. No shampoo and a shortage of towels. The largest towels we're the size of floor towels.

In my life I had been in such a filthy room. Not even the bathroom washes the waitress. Lousy definitely the worst hotel I've been to in all of Usa.

Very dirty, the cleanliness is very deficient.

The room was very small. There were long black hairs in the towel. The heater did not have a thermostat and therefore we could not properly set the temperature. The bathroom is large and the shower is too… so that was good. Also, they did not furnish a 'do not disturb' sign so that we could avoid a stranger going into our room while we were gone. They did bring us extra pillows and blankets though. Overall, it was not very clean (walls dirty and not wiped down in a long time and dirt and wrappers behind the dresser and nightstand) but serviceable. No coffee, shampoo, lotion etc… except in a vending machine. The prices were not that much cheaper. The flat screen TV was a nice size and worked well. We'll probably not stay there again unless there are not any better choices. I wish we could say it was wonderful but it just wasn't.

Sheets had not been changed even though the bed was made. There were food crumbs and hair. Also the duvet had not been changed at all After we had requested for a bedding change. He only changed the sheets. But When we did call about the sheets they were very professional, apologetic and prompt. Great movie channels. I would suggest better management of the staff as they obviously tried avoiding changing the sheets before we checked in.

The staff wasn't very welcoming. The room was I guess decent, updated for what it was able to be. 1 night was okay, but I wouldn't want to stay more than 1. The sheets… were not washed sheets. I'd assume that after each guest, they would be replaced with clean sheets, not just make the bed.

Terrible hotel. Very dirty. Smells cigarette even in non smoking rooms. Uncomfortable beds. No facility in the room. Terrible airconditioning. Dirty sheets. Avoid this hotel. I wish I slept in my car because I couldn't sleep all night.

Our stay was perfect. Everything turned out great. I have no complaints and I will continue to stay at your location each time we go to Big Bear.

Okay place no more for one night.

The room price was doubled (or more) because of a special event nearby. I always use Motel 6 when I travel and I resent paying such a high price. Something I do like is a toilet seat cover that was always lacking-I hope all of your locations now have these. I'm an old guy and this feature is helpful in drying off after showering.

We had a pleasurable stay at Room 116. The person on the front desk was warm, friendly & helpful. I left my credit card on the machine and they contacted me to let me know that they have my card. I truly appreciate the honesty. The only negative about our experience was the strands of hair that we found on the sheets & blankets.

Everything looked very clean and new. However, UNDER the bed was not clean. There was a lot of dust and I think it caused my sister and I some allergy issues. Desk staff were efficient and nice. Everything was good over all for the price.

Floor was not clean. Looks like same blanket and sheets after clean up. Floor was not swept really disgusting, I was not comfortable walking around barefoot or even in socks. Fire detector was hanging by a thread. A dirty syringe was discovered in top toilet tank after trying to figure why it would not flush. Oh yeah the community microwave was horrible. I'm sure someone could get sick using that filthy thing. I will not be going back. Room 111

If there were a no star option, that's the one I would pick. The rooms were filthy. We moved once because the toilet and shower along with all floors were black. After being moved the new room was just as dirty. I bought a big box of Clorox wipes and cleaned the room from top to bottom myself. I saved them and let the staff know. There was dog hair in both beds and the headboard hadn't been cleaned in months. I wiped the top comforter down and the wipe was black. I know this is a motel 6, but I expect for any place a human being is paying money for is clean upon arrival. You are charging people 100$ a night where is It going. I will never stay there again and I will not recommend it to anyone.

Has the basics you need. Bed and shower. Thin walls so we could hear people next door talking. Came during a busy labor day weekend so I'm guessing they wanted to turnover the rooms fast to accommodate our last minute booking, don't think they changed new sheets, hair on the railing in the shower, bathroom towel was unfolded and stuffed in the towel holder.

Would've given an overall rating of "Excellent", but, my reserved "non-smoking" room, slightly strained my eyes from the somewhat shrouded smell of cigarette smoke. Considering the beautiful resort location, the price ($49.00) was excellent. Customer Service & room service was also very good. Truly.

Location was good as everything is close to the lake, but we were unaware of the car show that was the same weekend (probably why it was priced higher). We picked this place based on it being the cheapest. It was hard to fathom spending $100+ a night on a room that was just a TV and bed. No fridge to store any left over food or microwave to heat up (other than in the main office), not even a coffee maker. If it was $50 a night, then I would have been happier with everything and probably rate it 4 stars based on the price.

For the price in a resort tourist town and your not in the room long you can't beat. The view was amazing it was the only motel on that side of the lake. Lisa was very patient and courteous. So if you want better then pay for it. Any other hotel or motel up here is over 200. A night. And pet friendly was a plus.

First, the room was not cleaned thoroughly. The wood floor had not been vacuumed or swept, there was actual dirt and dried food droppings on the floor everywhere. The restroom floor had long hair on it as well as pubic hair – both were plentiful and that is disgusting. Secondly, the shower was not clean. The shower floor was stained with dirt and there were long hair and pubic hair in the shower. The toilet bowl had a ring around it. The counter top had also not been wiped clean and had long hair on it. The towels had long hair on them. There were no cups to drink water out of so therefore I used my hands. I was very surprised that for nearly $150 I was given a room that felt like a hostel rather than a $150 motel room. The trash had not been emptied in the front room. I was given a so-called Non-Smoking Room that smelled of cigarette smoke and sour apples. The air conditioning unit rattled and disturbed my sleep until I finally shut it off. Then the room became very hot because the air was not running. I chose not to open my window as a safety precaution. I was unable to sleep for the remainder of the night. Your pool was not in use and the pool area was obviously filthy with pine cones strewn across the black pool cover. That also surprised me for a $150 motel room. One of your patrons screamed “Good morning, Motel 6” on top of his lungs at 6:50am on Sunday morning and I wondered where security was to ask him to stop screaming.

Busy, slow Wi-Fi, tiny rooms. It's a Motel 6 so despite its downfalls I'm giving it an "okay" review given that it is what it is. The staff was friendly.

The staff on the phone and the front desk clerk were very friendly and helpful. If your looking for a very nice, safe clean place to stay this is perfect. The location is very good and we felt very safe with our two girls. There is snow sledding right next to the motel which was great. The room is very clean and everything worked, we asked for extra pillows and we got them! very affordable and nice place to stay. The staff helped us with directions and locating various places to go.

For reasons beyond this review, we had to find a new place to stay at 2 am. The whole town was completely booked. After calling over two dozen places, of which none had rooms, we called motel 6. They had not one but two rooms available right next to each other (which was how many we needed). They were fairly expensive at almost $200 per room, but that's probably the only reason they had two left. That's fine. Check out is late, noon, which is even better. They said there were no rooms available for the next day, and they can't let us know or hold them if someone cancels. Call the next morning to see if we can stay the night and they let us know there are still no time available. Then the front desk calls back and said that she say what room we called from and that there were two rooms and she held them for us. The lady at night must have passed the message on. The next day we went to the office to let them know about some extenuating circumstances we had and they were very very accommodating, much more than they needed to be or would be expected. We will absolutely stay here again, thanks motel 6 for saving our weekend.

Not such a "Merry" stay. We stayed for 2 nights visiting family for Christmas holiday. We had an issue with the toilet bowl handle not flushing, the Wi-Fi AND found bed bugs. Brought it to the person at the front desk and she did NOTHING to accommodate us, we thought a free night stay, a free night or discount on a future visit or at the very least a discount on our 2 night stay of $200 a night (for a Motel 6) but NOTHING, she barely said sorry when my husband suggested having the room fumigated as we were leaving. It was very busy with people checking out being Christmas Holiday weekend and we could have made a real stink and scene. VERY disappointed!

Rooms looked great and we're very clean. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful (she gave us a map and local events of Big Bear). The best part was that the lobby was open for 24 hours so you could get up anytime you want to get a drink/snack from the vending machines. The lobby also had a microwave and every morning, there was free coffee! For anyone who is going to Big Bear, I highly recommend going to the zoo; the Timber Wolves are gorgeous!

Good location for skiing. Quick check-in and clean. Beds were rock hard with no blankets. Bed covers paper thin.

I don't expect much from a motel 6 because you get what you pay for, but this one is pretty bad. I stayed here between Christmas and New Years and they raised the price triple what they normally charge. The rooms have no coffee pot, hot water, fridge, or microwave. In fact there is one coffee jug in the lobby for the whole hotel. If you want hot water for tea you have ask the clerk at the front desk. All the plugs in the rooms are old and loose and don't hold cell phone chargers in place. The bath towels feel like they are three years old, and the TVs are about 15 years old as well. This motel 6 has made me never want to stay in another one, no matter what the savings. And the Wi-Fi is not included like most motels. You have to pay an additional fee.

Pretty good. No major complaints. We stayed there for Oktoberfest at the convention center across the way. Location was perfect. Will return.

I like that it was in Big Bear Lake instead of the city. We had a good stay. The bed was a little hard but I got use to it by the second night. The t. V could have been larger cause I was watching the U. S. Open and I would have liked to see who was playing and the score. Lol. Wifi should have been FREE! More water pressure would have been nice. Overall for the price it was a fun stay for our Anniversary.

If you like singed sheets and cotton pillows, this is your place! It's got your contemporary 4:3 tube TV set and one bar of soap that works as shampoo, body wash, and hand soap! Need more blankets? They'll give you furniture pads, well tarps minus the padding. And what a treat, $2.99 a day for Wi-Fi, per device! Just spend another $30 and stay somewhere comfortable. Your phone might even get coverage inside the room.
