I and my husband stayed at Big Sur Lidge for two nights. Hats off to their staff for springing back in action post Covid shut down situation! We have fallen in love with the place and the lodge and will definitely visit and stay there again. The location of Big Sur Lodge is uniquely amazing: on a hill, in the middle of redwood trees, with many wonderful cooling hikes due to a lot of shade of trees, and viewpoints (such as the main waterfall and the main valley view) right there around and in small walking and step climbing distance; we did not drive to any other place once we parked our car there. The river creek water is therapeutic and cooling and worth soaking feet every day. The cottage rooms are spacious, towels and sheets clean, bathrooms good, room rates pricey but worth for the tranquility, serenity, and the blissful energy of that place. Ideally, one has to stay right there at the lodge and not only do a day trip/visit to Big Sur state park to be able to soak in the tranquility of the place. The cafe, the store, the swimming pool, and the restaurant are nice and convenient. Kids and families seem to have a cheerful time there. Big Sur Lodge is a must try place for sure!

The staff here were super helpful the area was pristine amd the rooms were cozy cant wait to go back.

If you want to escape the big city and find peace and quiet head to the Big Sur Lodge. We have a room with a gas fireplace, living room bedroom and full kitchen. Great to heat up a meal after a wonderful evening hike.

A quaint, quiet getaway tucked within the forest in Big Sur. Calling all outdoor enthusiasts, this place is a must visit! Easily accessible off of Route 1, excellent service, and very accommodating with an onsite restaurant and gift shop loaded with all of the essentials one might need when exploring the depths of Big Sur. I highly recommend ending your hike with a visit to the Big Sur Lodge for Happy Hour!

It’s accommodations are complete without frills, and central to all things Big Sur. Staff is very sweet and accommodating.

We went during the low season, very comfortable, during high season expect to pay $350 a night.

In the heart of the redwood forest, friendly place, great hikes.

We checked in and got to our cottage. It is amazing with no tv. It has a skylight which is great to see the stars, as well as it’s own terrace. I’ve never seen so many stars in the sky in my life!

What a bust! This place was a borderline dump charging $400 a night! Their sole value is there is very little else in the area. I am generous when I say room was "shabby. "

Friendly and Fun Like the meals.

We loved our stay here. So serene and restful. The room was large, bed soft and the fireplace made it perfect. We will definitely return here.

Great natural location and clean facilities. Third party advertisers do not advertise the fact there is no Wi-Fi or tv. You only find out about this once you book and receive a confirmation email. One bar of phone coverage is possible from some pars of the facility. Nice place to stay though.

Buzzards Roost is waaaaaaay up there. Get started early, take the loop and enjoy God's artistry. It so worth it!

This park is definitely a five-star rating. However due to the high cost of the lodge, and any food at the restaurant, Deli and Market is way overpriced. There are plenty of trails for all different levels. We saw a deer very closely that were not afraid. The park is well maintained and definitely worth the stop. But next time I will choose the camp site versus lodging.

Gross food. And you are paying 20 dollars a plate. The burger was ok but the $21 meat sandwich was cheap deli meat on cheap bread. The only thing this has going for it is location. Bring your own sandwich and eat it down the path.

Well this is very biased because I love big sur, but this place was amazing. There's hiking trails right next to the lodge. And the food is good. So good that we ended up having most of our meals at the lodge. Solid gift shop too. I got a nice book. Everyone is sweet and helpful. Highly recommended.

The rooms were spacious and clean. Well kept cabins, I enjoyed the facilities, including the bathroom, microwave and living area. I wish the Wi-Fi wasn't so expensive since the standard rate for the cabin was a lot, Wi-Fi should be included at this day and age. The views outside were beautiful.

Went on a day drive trip from Salinas to Big Sur Lodge. Stopped at the lodge for food and drinks for coming back. Customer service was very friendly at this location. Definitely May note to come back again and possibly rent a room from the lodge or make a day trip out into the woods. Beautiful place, would do it again!

Absolutely clean and well cared for camp sites under the redwoods which gave great mulch bedding to setup tents on. Loved that the sites were next to the river (or almost all of them), the ablution blocks were numerous & well lit at night (all night long), every camp site had a fresh water spigot closeby to rinse off items, and as two women camping alone — I felt very safe. Come morning the best moment was stretching my legs over the tiny quarter mile along the stream & into the lodge restaurant for a 5 morning latte washed down by a couple of black filter cuppa's. Their breakfast meals are also superbly prepared with fresh vegetables (not frozen) as are their hamburger's which they are only too willing to prepare lettuce wrapped (bun'less)! Awesome food and coffee, as camp cooking for two was senseless in our case. Both trails we went on from the camp site are so we'll cleared and maintained … with stairs for steeper inclines, even an 80' year old could manage as long as their heart is willing!

Beautiful spot for a stay. Cabin 32 was nice. The heater was a little noisy during the night. There was a small refrigerator, and everything I expect from a cabin. Trail heads right from the property.

Love the place. It's so peaceful and away from the city noise. Love the place and the Turkey they have walking in the morning is funny to see around.

Staff was great, room was comfortable and view was astounding. There is very little cell service and prices for purchasing Wi-Fi are a little outrageous. Food down the road is great, and a 20 minute drive south has great trails for hiking.

Great food and ambiance. We were there in the off season November, and practically had the place to ourselves. The waitresses are excellent!

Not much to review — we just stopped in to cool off use the restroom, and grab some snacks after our hike up to Pfeiffer Falls. But the lodge was very clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly.

Stay was great. So glad we went before the LA crowd and had some times on trails without a ton of other people with boom boxes. Room was very clean, bed comfortable, and showers hot. Private balconies are a nice touch and offer some great star gazing. Would recommend!

We had a great time and enjoyed the fireplace a lot. The staff was very friendly, and we had fun with the family of turkies.

Front desk staff was very helpful. The room was clean, cozy, and spacious (and a little bit dated, like any good cabin). Very comfortable bed!

Big Sur Lodge is a very peaceful and wonderful experience. The area as well has so much to explore! There's two hikes that are most traveled here at the lodge: Valley View and Buzzards Roost. Unfortunately in this area, as most of Big Sur, there isn't free Wi-Fi or phone service. Although, if you hike up to Valley View you'll have 4 bars with Verizon! The restaurant at the Lodge isn't fully opened yet but the Café has coffee, sandwiches, and you can order food there off of a menu and they will serve it to you. Definitely recommend staying here, regardless of working here or not. :)

Cabins are comfortable and spacious though 'rustic' i. E. Could use some refurbishment. But the setting in a redwood forest can't be beat. On premise shop and restaurant are minimal but adequate.

No Wi-Fi, no TV. Other than that, amazing views and location. If you're in big Sur, you're not likely to miss those amenities.

Beautiful place along a scenic stretch. Laid back, awesome food and cool gifts shop. Hanging out back is great.

Quaint lodge in Big Sur redwoods. Great soot to get away, relax and hike various trails.

Nice amenities… Would be a great place for a family to use the pool, trails, etc… Many trails closed at present due to flooding and forest fires during the past couple years… Friendly staff were very accommodating on arrival and departure.

Dining at a Lodge is a colorful experience in itself, especially if your main exposure to them is from watching Twin Peaks. There is wood galore, beautiful surroundings. Big Sur Lodge is a great visit, being in close proximity to Pfeiffer State Park. There are plenty of trails, paths, and no shortage of coast redwoods no matter which direction you look.

The lodge cabins are nice and room but definitely on the rustic side. No phones, no television, and no internet. We were there during off season so not much going on. Even the restaurant was closed. But a great place to be with nature.

Excellent accommodation. Very friendly staff. My room was spacious and we'll appointed. I would recommend The Big Sur Lodge to all my friends.

The service was very friendly. I think they were happy to have us with the bridge out. Everything was clean and there weren't many people around during the week. The receptionist was eager to answered all of our questions.

A cozy and quiet place, with firewood prepared for us. It was peaceful and pleasant, even though the park itself was closed. The on site staff were amazing and helpful in finding out alternative ways to enjoy Big Sur.

We had a great time at the Lodge. The fireplace is a great place to sit with coffee or a glass of wine. Even though much of the forest was off-limits while we were there, we went for a nice hike among the redwoods just across the road and made several trips to nearby scenic spots on the coast. Lots to do and see in Big Sur and the Lodge is a great home base! Would love to come back in the summer to take advantage of the pool, but our in-room fireplace was definitely a great feature for the chilly nights! The gift shop is really great for beer, food and camping items as well as maps and souvenirs. Locally handmade shirts as well!

I wanted to love everything about Big Sur Lodge, but it fell a bit short. I still adore it and might head back one day. Lodging: Has SERIOUS potential. The cottages are adorable, but really need some spiffing up. It hasn't been long since they've been upgraded, but it doesn't appear the upkeep and cleaning necessary is happening or well anyway. The walls are painted wood paneling and they need to be generally washed, probably on a much more regular basis. The showers and shower curtains, and generally bathrooms, could be upgraded and cleaned up significantly. For the price, none of that should be an issue. The fireplace was great, but requires the windows/door are open to use it because otherwise you'll end up with billowing smoke within the rooms. The couches were pretty dated and worn out, but then again, they sat right in front of the fireplace, so that could have been the reason why. As you have probably already read, wireless phones rarely work here, and there aren't any telephones in the rooms. Makes it tough to communicate if you need anything back home or need to stay connected. But fair warning, and it's great to disconnect completely from time to time :). Also, for the ladies, bring your hair dryer! The rooms don't come equipped with them. Lastly, after reading the room conditions we signed at check in, I noticed that during the colder months, there's an extra charge for using the 2nd bedroom. I wasn't aware, and at that point already unpacked items into that room.

Front office staff was unfriendly with me during check in but as soon as John showed up, she was nice and friendly. Is it because I was an Asian girl? Also when we ate dinner at the Big Sur Lodge Restaurant, they were short staffed and had to wait a while for a table even though tables were available for us to sit. At the end of our dinner, the waiter came to get our payment for our check, we waited for our change for approximately 10 mins. He never returned with our change. I had to go look for him and caught him chatting with other staff members. I thought they were short staffed…
