They are charging me for a mistake made from Hotels. Com. Even though Hotels. Com made the appropriate changes and confirmed, now the hotel itself cancelled my reservation all together. They are awful people to deal with and will NEVER go there ever. I will spread this throughout my friends list!

Room was half way painted a different color and smelt of smoke even though I ordered non smoking. The restroom light flashed when left on longer than 60 secs and the television remote was no where to be seen.

Overall experience was okay the hotel itself isn't very clean the pool does work in his nice the staff is really cool. The only thing I didn't like is the cash deposit required was $100 but other than that it was a decent stay for the price.

Cozy little place, not a franchise, so it's more friendlier. Very good staff.

For the price it’s what you would expect, not bad at all, everyone that works there is super nice and helpful besides the one manager who is a complete piece of shit and total creep, literally despise this hotel because of that one guy and I’m sure he’s the owner or whatever so that’s why he’s like that and no one can do anything, make sure this is a last resort hotel.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but I wasn't expecting it to be that bad. They lost both of our reservations, the Wi-Fi didn't work unless you went to stand outside of the front office, I couldn't get a signal at all/no texts or calls unless I went downstairs to the office, there was mold all over the ceilings, stains galore, every chair and bed was sunken in and broken, we found a dirty t-shirt on the desk, the faucet was broken, it smelled horrible, I felt dirty touching everything, and I am by no means a clean person. I didn't feel comfortable even sleeping on the bed, blankets and pillows were covered in stains as well, and there was already trash in the trash cans, so I'm pretty sure our room was not cleaned after the last person left. None of the outlets worked save one, the fridge reeked of something spoiled, and two out of three lamps were broken. Bad, bad, bad! Charging more than a Motel 6, but not even near as nice. I was extremely surprised by all of this, is this normal or did I just get a really really bad room? Staff is very friendly though, not their fault!

The bed was clean but everything else is old. Fine if you just need to sleep.

Average experience but exceptional service. Didn't expect the check ins from a motel. Enjoyed our stay. Thanks for surprising us with our stay in Chico.

Horrible place, TV did not work at all and when I tried to call the front desk, there was no phone cord connecting the phone to the wall! Wallpaper was peeling off in most areas. Beds had large voids in it. Would not stay here ever again.

It was the most run down disgusting place I've ever stayed… holes in wall and a couple peep holes… for the price, you'd think they'd clean it up.

I was not impressed and really offended by the condition of our room for the night. The place I later found had a bit of roach problem. Aside from the shady characters who roam the parking lots at night. Which brings up the question why are they charging a deposit for a less than clean room that's out of date period.

I booked this place through travelocity, it should be removed. I was original given a king size room but, management beat me to the room, and told me the room was being repaired. There was a transient stand in front of the room talking to himself. I was asked to come back to the office and given another room with double beds. The heater barely worked, the carpet was filthy, but the linen was clean. The place needs an over haul. The pictures on the web are a clean version compared to the real deal, stand in the lobby, BIG DIFFERENCE. 11:05 housekeeping is knocking on your door with their child to clean your room. Never ever again! $83 total for one night was a nightmare. There was no protection lock on the door, not good.

This hotel not only disappointed, but it was flat out disgusting. There was hair in the shower from the previous person who stayed there. There was a legit poop smear on the wall by the light switch in the bathroom. The chairs were barely holding together. And overall the whole room, especially bathroom, was not sanitary. If you pay more than $30 a night to stay here, may God have mercy on your soul.

Little run down for 75 a night but good location down town.

If I could give a big fat zero I would. I payed in advance for a room for New Years eve 2017. Just one night. Checked in no problem. The room was fine for what it was — cheap and available. There was a hole in the ceiling in the bathroom, the shower was kind of falling apart but whatever, it was one night. Checked out no problem. Until I noticed a couple days later that the standard "cleaning/insurance" charge hadn't been released from my account. I called the desk to inquire and was reassured that it would be released from my account. After the experation date came and went and the charge was not released but instead withdrawn from my account I called and they continued to tell me that they had made no such charge. I quickly filed a dispute of the charge and they have been fighting my bank ever since. It's now midway through February.

If you're looking to be in the heart of downtown Chico this is an option, but that's all this place has to offer. The motel is in a general state of disrepair. I had to charge my phone in the bathroom unless I wanted to dig for an outlet behind the bed or TV.

I just spent all week at the University Inn. I've stayed here many times in the past when I'm in Chico on business. At $65 per night, it's a good deal. I find the beds here very comfortable. The office staff here are extremely friendly, every time. However, if you are looking for a clean, well-kept hotel room, you WILL NOT find it here. Make no mistake, this place is a DIVE. But if you just want a comfortable bed for a great price, you can't beat it. Also, there is a restaurant across the street called Big Hot Crab… Go there.

This place is hit or miss. They have constant heating and cooling issues… There are hookers and drug dealers everywhere… Best to go somewhere else…

The towels were clean. Wear gloves. An abundance of water damage repairs. Spend the extra 30$ for a decent, newer room. Better yet, stay at one of the casino rooms on the outskirts of Chico.

DO NOT STAY HERE! My husband came to this hotel and tried 2 different rooms but the air conditioning was not cooling it down. He told the owner he can not stay here because it was hotter inside than it was outside and he went to another hotel. The owner charged him for 2 nights and we have disputed it on the phone and with our credit card company. He refuses to refund our money.

For as cheap of a rate I paid, it served its' purpose. I had to constantly get my key card fixed as every day it wouldn't open my door. Luckily the front desk service is nice and considerate. Room service was fairly quick and cleaned things up well, some of the appliances were "naked" where you could see the wiring exposed. I didn't use the TV often but when I did, it was low quality. A lot of activity outside, especially at night. If you aren't looking to spend a lot for a place to sleep and shower, this place is fine.

The location is nice, a few blocks away from downtown. The rooms have hardwood floors and the layout is a little odd. The bathroom is very cramped. The man who checked is in was nice and quick.

The desk clerk was very friendly, but that is where the positive experience ends. Rooms are old and in disrepair. Our bathroom had no exhaust fan and there were exposed electrical wires. Shower was filthy. Toilet was not clean. Some rooms are used by locals for parties. There were seedy folks outside carrying on all night long. Someone kept trying to open our door. In the morning, there were beer cans and fried chicken strewn about the outside walkway.

You can't beat the location! We walked everywhere from the hotel and were the only people using the pool, which was super refreshing on the 90 degree day. Check-in was easy, staff was friendly and accommodating. Free Wi-Fi was a lovely option but it was weak or non existent. Rooms was clean and well stocked with ironing board, hair dryer, mini fridge and coffee maker. Bed was comfy and there were three choices of pillows on each bed. Great stay.

Chico's crack house hotel never stay there. The owners don't care.

Lovely place if you're looking for drugs and hookers. Rooms are disgusting. Staff is rude. This motel has bed bugs and is roach infested. If you want to be robbed at gun point this is the place for you.

The room looked like an old dorm room. The min-fridge was plugged in, but not working and the room smelled of cigarettes, despite being a non-smoking room. The chair had tears in it, and so did the comforter on the bed. The bed had a sheet cover, but it was so threadbare, that I could see the brand of the mattress easily through it. The carpet had ripples in it, from where the carpet was bunched and coming unglued. Surfaces of the nightstand, bathroom sink and table appeared dirty, even though they were cleaned, and the room in totality had a grimy look to it. The ironing board had no cover, as I suspect they wanted you to use a towel to cover the exposed metal, and I dare not try the iron. The windows wouldn't close all the way, and I had to use their locking mechanisms, which were of a screw type nature, to secure them. Buuuut, they let me check in early, at 9 am, and only charged one day. They required a 50$ deposit, in addition to paying in full, despite having a card in file for me, since I said I wanted to pay in cash. All in all, a terrible experience, but with flexible check in times.

PLEASE READ ALL REVIEWS BEFORE STAYING HERE My wife n I thought it might be a good place to stay close to everything… BOY WERE WRONG THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Staff is rude police came the night we checked in. The rooms have bed bugs and roachs ***buyer beware.

Horrible! Sheets smell, outlets don't work, and the manager is so rude! AND THERE'S NASTY COCKROACHES.

Son-in-law stayed there overnight and said the door security lock was broken and so was the peephole! And he was subjected to nasty comments from other guests! NO stars!

We are completely satisfied with the University Inn! These folks are really good to me and my family! They have to be one of the best places around, especially with the rate! We have been all over Chico, and by far the University Inn has to be one of the best. Rooms are clean, and the staff is courtious and helpful. This is where we are planning on staying from now on!

We stayed here recently. It had decently clean rooms, sturdy furniture, and a friendly staff. For $67.20 I am happy, when we needed toiletries or really anything at all they were quick to help. Don't judge a book by it's cover and you will be surprised by what you find!

The university inn is nice and quite in the middle of downtown Chico. The service was nice and reliable. Best part was I was left alone and price was decent at close to 500 for a 7 day stay.

PLEASE READ ALL THE REVIEWS before you think about booking this hotel! This place should be condemned by the health department. Like other reviews, unfortunately we were desperate for a room on a busy weekend. We would have been better off sleeping in the car. We felt like we were in an episode of "Braking Bad" and that's not in a good way! Nasty, nasty, nasty! Where to begin, at a glance is a old warn room but when you get in and start to look around it's disgusting. There were burn marks on the comforter, sheets and pillow case had stains but they at least looked washed. There was a 1 week old news paper under the chair next to the refrig, the microwave would randomly come on until I unplugged it, the bathroom was absolutely horrible. Paint flaking, cranks in the ceiling, facets so loose I was afraid I was going to turn it and it would pop off. I can go on and on. To top the room off there was constant smell of smoke from cigarettes and pot until 2:30am in the morning…

Had 2 rooms booked oct 2 /2015. Cocroach right on top of bed when we. Walked in… so sick… we left. Dont go here.

I didn't even stay at this establishment, however, I was still charged. I made a reservation online because I was in the UK at the time, and after not receiving a confirmation email I emailed them asking why this was, and as I had no confirmation email, I could not access my reservation to cancel it. I received no response to my email either, so I assumed the transaction must not have gone through. Weeks later, after I had already sorted out alternative accommodation I was charged, and when I rang up to ask why that was considering I had no idea the reservation had even gone though, I was accused of just not turning up. Highly unprofessional, don't accept online reservations if you don't plan on informing potential customer that their reservation was successful, furthermore, it might work in their favour to actually reply to emails and queries. If you really want to stay in this place, I suggest calling, if you have the option, don't.

I was a little sketched out staying here because of previous reviews that I've read, but I took a chance because I wasn't looking to spend a lot of money while visiting some friends at Chico State. I paid $66 for one night, because it was a weekday, and was not disappointed. I believe the hotel has been taken over by new management; the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the location, being right next to the university and lots of downtown restaurants, was unbeatable, especially with that price. I recommend it to anyone looking for a safe, affordable, and comfortable place to stay.

They take care of you quick and are helpful when you don't know the area.

COCKROACHES! This is the worst hotel I've ever been at. When I walked through the door, I saw bugs on the nightstand. After looking under the phone (which didn't work by the way), there were 5 or 6 bugs which scattered in all directions. — The blinds were broken preventing them from being closed — Cockroaches were everywhere — There were mysterious stains on the bed I even tried getting a different room, but it had the same issues. After wasting about 20 minutes or so, I demanded a refund and left. Do not stay here. It is not worth it even if they paid you $60 to stay here.

This review is well overdue, we had a terrible experience here. The floor and pillows had hair on them, the bathroom was disgusting. Toilet was def not clean and there was blood smeared in the shower. After speaking with front desk, she appologized, but informed me they didn't have any other rooms to switch to and the housekeeping staff had already left. Ok? So we slept on top of blankets with no pillows. Didn't use the shower and left the next morning disgusted, with the front desk saying a manager would call me to. Make things better? Never got that call. I called again a week later. No manager, once again I was informed a call would be made back to me. It finally was and was the rudest hotel staff experience I've had to deal with. By the end of a couple different conversations I wanted to call corporate. But was it really worth it. So yeah I never did. Unfortunately this establishment is close to many things in downtown chico and cheap (er). I figure, I'm probably gonna end up staying here again for some reason, only next time I hope to be able to award more stars to this place. Hopefully things are being run and handled better.

Horrible I recommend everyone to stay away from this place.
