Seriously the only thing here is the ocean, hard beds — terrible breakfast! Cockroaches in the corner of the hot tub, hot water in tub not regulated well — — too hot — — too cold? Small pool, no towels — — towels in room are stained and frayed. Shabby rooms — sloppy painted — stickers left on sliding glass doors? Not clean! Some fan motor or ice machine running all night. The layout of the room is such if you open the door and the bathroom door at the same time they collide, Really? Need I say more? Save your $200.00 a night and find a great place and GO to the beach!

We were passing through the city on our way up to my family up in Oregon. So we decided to spend a little bit of money and stay at this place, I looked it up and it looked real nice, with an amazing ocean view. Well, it is Definitely catered to the older generations I'll say that right off the bat. The building itself, the entire ambiance of the place is, vintage one could say. Not very up to date on anything in there, which is okay. The beds are hard/stiff. The restaurant is okay, at best. The drinks we got from the bar were good, so that's a plus. At the time I was frustrated because I wanted to watch a specific event on TV that night, well. Third channel selection is VERY limited. Overall, the best thing about this Lodge is the view. You're 10ft away from beach and I'd guess 50-60ft away from actual water. So that aspect of the stay lived up to expectations, especially paying $200+ a night.

BEWARE! We were charged $242 for 1 night in a "King Suite'. We were told we had a balcony but didn't. Toilet overflowed the first time we flushed it. Room was NOT a suite. Old and dirty. Screen was ripped on only window and only view we had was of dirty kids socks laying on dead grass outside of window. You can't walk on sidewalk cuz someone let their dog have diarrhea all along it and NEVER cleaned it up! Worst part is when I went to front desk to complain to manager all he had to say was "Then next time don't stay here""! WHAT? OH HE'LL NO! I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER STAY HERE AGAIN EVEN IF YOU PAID ME! EFF THE OCEANFRONT LODGE! @@

Very friendly and helpful staff. The room and view was amazing. Had a very nice stay would go back again.

WOULD NOT STAY HERE! My daughter, husband, and I were excited to stay here as our room had a jacuzzi in it. We were there for about 2 hours, when I went to pick something up off the floor. BUGS everywhere! All over the baseboards of the walls and a ton of dead/live ones under the bed. We immediately packed our things to leave. Went to leave and spoke to the manager, who yelled at me. He refused to refund me my money because we had turned on the water, and because we didn’t find/report the bugs within 30 minutes of checking in! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Only 1 Star because 0 isn’t an option!

Clean and nice but really needs updated. Not enough accessible outlets to charge devices. Bed was hard and you could feel the springs and only one elevator that it felt like we where always waiting for. Nice place but its almost 2020 not 1990

The view was amazing from our room however the manager on duty was extremely rude as soon as we walked into the lobby with our dog after we had already paid a 50 dollar pet fee at this "pet friendly" hotel. He yelled across the lobby at us saying we need to pay the fee. We advised it was already paid. He then ran to the girl working asking if we paid and she had already told him twice we had. He continued to follow us to the elevator watching us and wanted to argue with me when I asked if he had a problem. Will never stay here again which is too bad cause the hotel itself was nice. Get rid of the manager and it will be a nice place to stay.

The king side bedroom was spacious. Had a refrigerator and coffee pot. Breakfast was free and ok. Limited selection but I was fine. My husband is a more finicky eater and only had toast.

I would urge everyone to call first and ask exactly what your room is before you book. The website is not clear. I booked a oceanfront room with a balcony and when I checked in they gave me a room with a mostly blocked oceanview with no balcony. When I complained they charged me an extra $100 (they told me it would be $50) to have the room I originally reserved (except I didn’t get my King size bed) the receptionist was nice and promised she would plead my case with the manager when they came in. The next day I asked if the manager had decided what they could do to find they had never heard my problem and NO ONE I the history of the hotel had ever had this problem, the website is perfectly clear and it was my fault that this happened. They did take $10/per night, but mansplained to me that NO ONE has ever gotten a better deal in the whole state of California. Also. The continental breakfast had UNPEELED hard boiled eggs and no way to peel them. No other egg choice. The restaurant is slow and lacks choices if you don’t like seafood. I didn’t feel as it the manager cared to hear what I had to say and kept saying I didn’t understand.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Was here in 2004 when it was a Hampton and had a wonderful lighthouse view room. Returned yesterday with a pet and missed the lighthouse view room. Still fell asleep to the sound of the ocean! She's an older hotel, but well maintained, and my room had a comfortable, clean bed and bathroom.

If I could give this hotel negative stars I would! Complete lack of maintenance. My room was completely disgusting, unclean and the smell was terrible. The staff were so unprofessional and they were dressed like they were going to the gym and as if it was a bother to check someone in. The only thing this place had going for it is the view of the lighthouse. It is such a crummy hotel I was going to check out right after I checked in and go somewhere else but I had already paid. Don't waste your money. The area around it is very dumpy and seems unsafe some people going in and out of vacant lot next to hotel were very sketchy. Doesn't seem like a safe area. Hotel ever!

An ok stay. Room was a nice size. We stayed in the king Jacuzzi suite. Had a beautiful view from the balcony. The down falls was the horrible breakfast (raw potato, toaster either burned or didnt cook your toast, oranges had mold on them, and the orange juice was sugar water from generic gallon of juice). The other bad thing is if your neighbor is on their balcony they can see right into your room. Other than that the place was nice, quiet, staff was friendly, and the downstairs restaurant is good.

My wife and I have stayed here twice and we love it! The rooms are clean and reasonably-priced. The views are spectacular! The only ding here is that the on-site restaurant isn't particularly good, but it's only a 5 minute drive to a ton of great food options.

Beautiful place! The view is amazing, love being able to go out on the balcony and watch the ocean! I knocked one star off because the bed was SUPER firm, which does not work for me. Still would recommend though!

The hotel staff is nice, the rooms are clean. The toilets have very little pressure. The drinks they sell are over priced. The morning breakfast probably gets 2 stars. Not great but it's free. The pool, Nothing great. The gym, I would rather walk in the beach. In all… With the Amazing view it offers and the great prices on rooms I would definitely come back.

Overall a good experience. Hotel restaurant food is a little bland. Room was clean and view was excellent. Front desk was very helpful.

I only gave two stars because our waitress in the hotel restaurant was very nice and we had a nice view of the ocean. The hotel was outdated and a little creepy. The free breakfast, although greatly appreciated was weak sauce. There were ants everywhere in the room and in the restaurant. Also what’s up with most all restaurants being closed on Wednesday’s? Weird.

Nice location, clean room, comfortable bed. No maid service during our two day stay! Never heard of that before. I don't know if that's standard practice for this place or they just skipped us. On site restaurant was just ok and on the pricey side.

Very enjoyable stay. Had a balcony facing the ocean. Incredible views. Great food in the restaurant.

This place is a hidden gem right off the beach. Quiet, clean, peaceful, accommodating, good food, EXCELLENT customer servive! They made us feel like we were the most important customers. This is officially our go to place when visiting friends!

The rooms were affordable. There is a absolutely gorgeous view from the seaside rooms. You can see the lighthouse on the point if your angled right. If you leave the window open you can sleep to the sound of the ocean crashing on the rocks just below the room. It's a wonderful way to fall asleep and wake up. The continental breakfast was VERY marginal. Hard boiled eggs, not very good coffee, cheap muffins. This is the main reason for 4 stars. We didn't eat at the restaurant, primarily because the food didn't look very appetizing. I did go to the bar briefly. Found the prices very affordable. They had a satisfactory beer selection. All in all, the place was entirely adequate. The location and ocean view REALLY makes the place worth staying at. If not for that, it'd be your typical "off the freeway" average hotel.

Nice location makes for terrific ocean views. But, the place really needs refurbished and even some reconstruction. The balcony floor was spongy. That "sponginess" continued inside into the room. At the time there were repairs occurring to nearby rooms. The restaurant had little atmosphere. Seemed almost cafeteria-like. Dinner was OK, perhaps a bit spendy, but server really needed some training. Breakfast the next morning was not good. Food that was supposed to be warm, wasn't. There was no attendant to speak with about rewarming the food. Morning Front Desk person was missing a personality. There was no friendliness or "customer service" in her when we checked out. No, "how was your stay", "thank you for staying with us". Just offered a copy of receipt and sent on our way. We probably won't be back. Too bad, cause the place has potential.

The most beautiful setting that I have ever been. Wild sea lions can be heard from the bay side of the hotel. Jet tub. Absolutely amazing. Is exactly what you need after a long day of travel.

The indoor pool/spa area was obviously not regularly cleaned, there was a decent portion of vomit in the rinse off area all 4 days I was there, along with old Band-Aids by the Jacuzzi. The room was clean, however the bed was very firm and quite noisy. Breakfast was tasty and had some decent options.

Just tried to cancel cause certain circumstances changed. I thought 24 hrs notice was enough. No you have to have 48 hrs. So they charged me for 1 night no one will use. Any establishment that is like that with no understanding other then money, will never get my business again. I have recommended them several times to friends and family and now I’ll let them all know how they are!

This place needs to be shut down. I could not change rooms when I was not satisfied or happy with the one assigned. They refused unless there was more money to be had. No ocean view and then they started drilling, pounding and what not at 830 am. It was the worst. I checked out immediately. Very unprofessional and dirty. I will never stay there again. They fo not know how to run a hotel at all. My advice is do not go anywhere near there.

This one is a hidden gem! Authentic rustic place with amazing ocean views. I absolutely enjoyed my stay there.

Don’t kid yourself about the views. Although the views are wonderful, it’s not enough to make up for the unhealthy, filthy rooms and the worst service. It is clearly a family owned business or seems that way. They give you filthy rooms and then gouch you for more money to get into a more decent room. They were not the least bit disturbed that they gave us a room that had garbage in it, that had a view of mostly the parking lot, and had furniture rearranged around it as if somebody had been working in the room. They also had sharp objects on the bed from where they had been apparently hanging curtains. So, we did get a room down the hall after insisting upon it. Although on the third floor, we had no screen on our window. The people next to us had a barking dog, and I could hear them as if I was listening through a paper wall. Thank God we did Not have children with us. This used to be a beautiful hotel with so much going for it when it was first owned by a larger chain. It is so sad that people of this caliber can let such a beautiful place run down into trash. Sadly, I do not recommend staying there!

Nice place with a spectacular location. Our upper room had a great balcony with a view. A little noisy… thin walled basic motel furniture, relatively clean and a nice staff.

I was so disappointed at the condition of the hotel. For 2 nights it cost me $460.00. I understand that the view was breath taking off the balcony over looking the shoreline. The staff was nice. It just that the buidling is falling down quickly. Needs some major renevations.

Absolutely not recommended!
The photos on the net do not have much to do with the hotel rooms.
The pool was only half full when we were there. The water was so full of chlorine that you could not see the ground. On request we were told that the water was being filtered and the pool would be replenished at any moment. The next morning it still looked unchanged — the same was true for the whirlpool…
Overall the pool area was very dirty, in the corners lay abgebröckelte color, there was a lot of mold to see.
There were two old plastic chairs on the balcony of our room. Seat upholstery or similar gave e none, the chairs were littered with the aftermath of the seagulls…
Also in the bathroom it was of the cleanliness rather borderline, as actually in the entire building.
So you really only pay for the – undoubtedly good – situation. Since everything else doesn't fit at all, the price (> $150/night) is totally inappropriate.
The staff knows the whole situation but seems to be quite good: when we checked out, we were just about to leave — without inquiring about how the stay was for us. Crescent City certainly has much better to offer!

This place was great! It's quaint and clean. We ate in the restaurant on site… good service, good food with an extensive selection of choices. Our room was small but next time I will get one with a balcony. However, the window actually opened to hear the ocean. I'd visit again.

WORST EVER! Don't bother! Price is not what you pay for, run down hotel all around. Beds are springs and paper thin walls! We could hear every move from neighbors. We asked for a refund and the Asian management was very rude and ignored me as I even calmly tried to explain our dissatisfaction several times. He denied the refund and gave only a $20 discount after standing at the front desk for about 30 min being ignored. WORST hotel experience by far!

Nice room, a little bit dated, but the view makes up for everything. Continental breakfast was about average. The store on site is rediculously over priced, but beyond that the hotel wasn't to bad. Not great but not bad.

We held our 50 year high school reunion at Oceanfront Lodge. They did a fantastic job of taking care of us. Approximately 110 people attended this event on September 9, 2017. The dinner was absolutely delicious. Everyone was very happy with the venue.

Dated hotel. The owner needs to invest more money in renovating this property. Owner or manager was extremely rude. We ended up cutting our trip short because of dissatisfaction with the room. We cancelled the last night two days in advance per policy. I had to call and request a refund after they didn't give it 3 weeks later. The same manager / owner said he would take care of it. He did not. I ended up having to refute the charge with my credit card company. Hotel has a nice view, but there are much nicer places in town with professional and friendly staff.

Mid range hotel, well maintained. All rooms face the water; upper rooms have excellent views. Free breakfast is basic: a couple of hot items (hard boiled eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles to order), bread items with a toaster (bagels, English muffins, muffins, Danish), cold cereal, yogurt, coffee. The room was clean and had a large, wheelchair-accessible bathroom, microwave, refrigerator, and single-serve coffee maker. Outlets were limited.

I will first say I had an absolutely amazing view from my room but overall hotel needs work. Hotel is in need of a facelift from carpet all the way to bedding. Resturant downstairs (what I ordered for dinner) was really good and drinks worth the extra money. Employees were pleasant and welcoming. If your looking for a beautiful view for an overnight adventure this works, but it isn't anything liked the website describes for the amount of money.

I would recommend sleeping in your car rather than deal with an unprofessional and horribly run hotel. My fiance had an interview in town and the company had set us up in this hotel for our stay. We had no issues the first night. We checked in, the kid was very nice, the beds were typical hotel room beds and the sound of the ocean all night was nice. The next morning the breakfast was disappointing. Not much selection and a few "hot" items were cold, but we survived. We were out all day the second day in town and didn't get back until around 10:30pm. We wen't up to our rooms and our keys didn't work. I assumed they had been too close to our phones or somehow came in contacted with a magnet. We went down to the lobby to get them reactivated and that is when we met the owner of the hotel. He was running the front desk that evening. He was an older Asian gentleman and we waited in line to talk to him. The two men in front of us both had to ask for towels for the pool, we never even made it to the pool. When it was our turn we asked if we could have our keys reactivated for our room. That was when he told us that we needed to pay. We let him know that he was supposed to bill the company for our stay and that we had a conformation email forward FROM THE HOTEL stating that they would direct bill the company. This wasn't enough for him he said we either needed to pay or leave. Things escalated quickly and he was yelling and refused to let us speak.

Love our view and location! It was once a Hilton property, (Hampton Inn) but now it's privately owned. Cute little sleepy town.

Checked in, went up to the room and as soon as we opened the door it smelled like mold and sewage. Bed was not made and everything seamed off. Went down and asked for another room… they gave us the room next to the original one. Opened the door and about got knocked over by the smell. Carpets were wet and we couldn't breath with the smell. Went down to the front desk and asked for a different room. The nice girl at the front desk said only thing available was almost twice as much. I then asked to talk to the manager. The manager came out and told me it was "the overflow" (I'm assuming it's the sewer based on the smell) and if I wanted a different room it was that price and if I didn't want to pay I could find another place. He said "there are plenty here go someplace else". Bottom line stay away from this dump. Found a nice place down the street at the Ocean View hotel.

We were fortunate enough to find this place and stay with our family for a three night stay. We appreciated the free morning breakfast provided along with the amazing view of the ocean from the restaurant. Our rooms were very clean, the staff was very helpful and kind. It is a family friendly lodge with a pool, spa, and sauna. The beach was lovely to spend time on and had tidepools at low tide. The lighthouse was close by as described and a playground also in the vicinity (15 min walk). We loved this place and will definitely be back for a future stay. Update: Snafu at checkout… had a confirmed late checkout with night auditor after others had made a request for one two and we are traveling with a toddler. Was told one… then told they don't on a day that's so busy. Confirm. Confirm. Confirm to eliminate feeling harried or rushed trying to leave.

FAIR WARNING ABOUT THE OWNER HE IS SHADY PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ! This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. My family and I planned a vacation with this as one of our stops. Got in or room to find out it was a lot smaller then what we expected (mind you we were going to be staying for 3 nights) I knew the first night we were there we wouldn't be able to change rooms because they were booked. So I walked down to the front desk to simply see if they had any larger available rooms for the following nights. The OWNER was extremely rude to me saying we had the largest room with the best view and the only room with a futon (not really sure what he meant by that exactly). I just explained to him nicely that we had 2 older kids and a baby and would prefer something a little larger if available. That's when he said "oh you AMERICANS" (mind you he was Chinese or some sort). Degrading me and my family with my 13 year old son standing right next to me. Said we could leave if we weren't happy (which wasn't going to happen considering our night was already paid for) I never said I wasn't happy just trying to get in a larger room. The hotel does have a beautiful view but that's all you get. The hotel is filthy and a very rude owner who only cares about your money. We canceled or next 2 nights and got a way better hotel with an amazing non-racist staff… This place doesn't even deserve a star for rating from me, but I can't post it unless I have at least one star…

The staff was great. They worked hard to make sure we were happy! The views were amazing. Don't book a ground floor room if you want to enjoy the view.

Dont let to floral decal trim fool you. This budget motel may still have 90s deco in the rooms but its got comfortable beds, bedding and linens. Nice hot shower, clean rooms and public spaces. They serve a full breakfast, have an fun lobby, clean laundry and the staff is friendly and accomodating. We will stay here again if we're lucky enough to visit again in the future.

The experience of sleep and there was average beautiful views however in the morning we went to get some apple juice from the dispenser there were ants in the juice machine. The the gal at the front desk didn't seem very concerned about it being a bad health department violation. Will never stay there again.

This is what out of town is supposed to be like. Its not perfect but damn it was good. The rooms where clean, the hotel modern and the views of the coast insane. I have to compliment the hot tub and Sauna (remember the only Finnish word everybody pronouns wrong — its Sow-na) was perfect and hot. The breakfast was average, front desk was slow but VERY nice. It was a great stay and I felt our vehicle was safe too, because I saw a cop drive by twice.

1/5/2016 We ate at the restaurant and it was just OK Our NY Strip Steak was fatty and thin. The view was great but we reserved a 2 bedroom suite and when we got there and checked in our room was a bedroom and common room with a couch that had a pull out bed. We went back and said that this was not what we had booked and the gave us $20. Off the second room. The room was good and view great!
