Wonderful place, people and time.

Beautiful location surrounded by trees and views of snoopy rock. Heated infinity pool and hot tub are fabulous. Staff is friendly and helpful. Free shuttle within one mile. Rooms are clean and spacious. Tranquil, relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

The spa has amazing massage therapist, the spa at Amara is a must do in Sedona!

Attended a wedding here. Staff couldn’t be more helpful and polite. Food and drinks were great. I would highly recommend this resort.

I just got back from 2 night stay and it was so-so experience for me. There was no service at the pool even tough it’s their busy season which was annoying.
Then there was no hot water one day while I was taking a shower. Later, I heard other guests complaining about the same thing.
When we were checking out, they only had 1 person at the front. The manager popped in for something then went right back to her office as the lines for check out was getting longer and longer.
You’d think during busy hours, they would have more than one person at the front!
The resort is pretty small but the location is convenient. I probably won’t go back.

Came here with 14 of my closest girls for my bachelorette, most of us work in the hospitality industry in Vail, CO so our standards are quite high. You drive in to the property and its so magical! The valet is on it! They were so amazing the WHOLE time, getting our bags to and from our room because it is a maze (if you do not like walking a lot to your room, do not request creekside). James drove us a few places and he was very helpful, especially with our large group! Check in got a little difficult as they charged our card $2k instead of $75. So just be sure to double check your account. It got fixed immediately but could of potentially ruined someones weekend! Stephanie, Erin, and Teah were very helpful! With 4 rooms things can get confusing but it was all done perfectly, with loads of communication. LOVE the texting option for communication! The rooms were beautiful, house keeping was not quite on it as the valet. We had glasses that were not ours outside two of our rooms at check in and they stayed there for a day (after calling three times for pick up). They say to call 0 for ice but we never received any, same with towels. Out of the 4 rooms we had I heard this was the biggest issue of the whole weekend. ANRI at the pool needs a raise! He was amazing, made our stay spectacular! He is the reasoning of my 5 star rating! He knew all of our names and did not mess up one drink or food order! Very personable and makes you feel like you are VIP the whole stay.

No microwave to heat up food. No coffee pot. No bathroom counter space. Room service menu was very disappointing with few options. Ordered the Kale Salad and it was terrible.

Love it here. It has been wonderful to get away for the weekend with my husband.

I’m handicapped and while they say they have shuttle service, you must wait unreasonable amounts of time for it. We ended walking the long steep hill. Small pool and super shallow. If your looking for good food, the “Open Range” on the Main Street is good.

Very clean and an unbeatable location. We saw that they were very dog friendly. The staff is super attentive. The restaurant over looks a court yard that has Adirondack chairs, corn hole and lounge chairs. Very comfortable environment to chill with a cocktail, view gorgeous rock formations and people watch. Our room was on the first floor so it was really enjoyable to just walk out the sliding doors and have access to the amenities.

Such an amazing resort! My wife and I spent the weekend there with our French Bulldog, and we had the most amazing weekend! The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff is incredibly friendly! Such a dog friendly resort, with water bowls and dog treats in the lobby. The bartenders are friendly, with free happy hour every evening. Lawn games, an infinity pool, and just a great relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely loved this resort! The room is spacious and well decorated, and our balcony had a beautiful view of the classic Sedona red rocks. There's complimentary coffee in the morning, tea and water during the day, and wine at night! And it's extremely dog friendly. It's just a short walk up a small hill to uptown Sedona, so it's in a great location (right on Oak Creek! ). Can't wait to come stay again!

We enjoyed our stay at this location and the service here was much appreciated. It made the stay more enjoyable. The pictures and the views are as good as advertised. Amazing. The Amara is very comfortable and we will return one day. The Sedona area is a gem. Absolutely gorgeous.

This is a really nice hotel right next to the Oak Creek river. The hotel is within walking distance from pretty much everything in Sedona. Our room was very nice and colorful with a patio that had access on the pool/hot tub area and spa. They offer a complimentary valet and shuttle service which was very useful. They also offer complimentary pet beds, treats, and bowls. Dogs are welcomed everywhere in the resort. The employees were very friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make our trip memorable.

Outstanding hotel and resort. Was there for a annual corporate/board meeting and the service was outstanding. The resort is close to Oak Creek and downtown area (walking distance). It also has an awesome infinity pool with cabanas. Use of the spa facility, such as the eucalyptus steam room, is free for hotel guests. There is also free valet parking (however it is good to tip the staff). On the down side, the beds we're a little hard and I woke up sore. I have a Tempurpedic mattress so I'm used to a certain comfort level. Can't wait to return. Highly recommend.

Stayed as part of a company annual retreat. Our group reserved a large portion of the hotel. Our room was very nice with an extra large spa tub. The staff were all extremely friend and helpful for the duration of our stay. Room service was extremely expensive, but good quality (we paid $15 for a plate of fruit for our baby. Quite the markup). The pool was lovely and there's a little hiking path along the creek that we really enjoyed. The wine hour in the evening was a nice social addition to our stay. I enjoyed a 30 minute massage from the spa which was a wonderful way to relax.

Stayed with girlfriends at the Kimpton Amara a few weeks back. The entire visit was amazing — the location, the restaurant, the room, the pool, the bar and most importantly — the staff. I cannot compliment the parking gentlemen highly enough: always welcoming, helpful, and ready to shuttle guests around town as needed! I would definitely recommend getting drinks at the bar and a treatment at the spa — both top notch.

My experience at Amara Resort was absolutely incredible. The most important thing I will mention is that I was traveling with my dog. Not only did the staff welcome him with open arms, but there is NO pet fee or breed restrictions! They offer complimentary pet beds, bowls and treats. Dogs are allowed everywhere and on the restaurant patio. I had a courtyard room so my sliding glass door went right into grass, which was extremely convenient for taking my dog out. This resort has the friendliest staff. I travel A LOT with my dog, and this was the best service I've ever received. The service at SaltRock restaurant is also extraordinary. They made me feel special. The views are wonderful and the food was great! In the morning there is delicious coffee in the lobby. The resort is within walking distance of several shops and restaurants. My favorite part of the resort grounds was having access to Oak Creek. It was so peaceful. I cannot wait to visit this resort again. The entire staff went above and beyond to make our trip unforgettable.

Wonderful stay at Amara! The rooms are lovely and very clean — nice little patio with two chairs outside of room. Great infinity pool with an awesome view of the Red Rocks, including Snoopy Rock! Can't say enough things about the staff — from the quick and friendly valet service to the wonderful wait staff at the pool bar. Loved eating and drinking at Salt Rock — bartenders Eddie and Artie are so nice and the drinks are definitely on point! We used the complimentary shuttle to eat at Mariposa our last night which is another nice amenity. I received a facial at the Spa with June and that service also exceeded my expectations. We will be back most definitely!

PURELY CUSTOMER SERVICE BASED* I placed a call to the Kimpton Amara in Sedona, Arizona in the early afternoon asking some very specific questions. The woman on the phone said to send her an e-mail with the details and that she would forward the message on. I received an e-mail back from another staff member in about two hours — something that I never would have imagined — with all of the answers that I needed and more! The staff that I have interacted with has been kind, open, informative, helpful, and just all around spectacular! Thank you so much for all of your help!

Thought for the price it would have been an above average facility. Room was missing hand towels one day, area around the outdoor fireplaces had dirty dishes and glasses several nights with no service, one set of sheets had some dirt… all of these are easy fixes to improve service level. Good food but why have the same soup for five days. Again, I expected better for the price.

A great blend of luxury and comfort in a beautiful and intimate setting. Friendly service as with all kimpton hotels, very nice pool area and dining. Rooms were also great. The gym left something to be desired but was perfectly adequate… just a few things to use. I wouldn't have bothered with a gym if I didn't have little kids anyway. A great place!

I expect more for what I paid. Service was great but the rooms are in need of an update. The bathroom orientation (sink size and lighting) was ridiculous. It is very conveniently located, once you walk up the steep hill. Also some rooms (ours) are a real hall from the lobby, including stairs and doors as you move between buildings. I would have been happy for 1/2 the price.

Had the nicest time at the resort. The staff is so incredibly helpful and kind and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. I came with my boyfriend for his birthday and they made it so special for him (they gave him a birthday card at dinner that had been signed personally by the staff that day). We even booked a massage at the spa there and that was also amazing. The therapists were great anf they gave us a toast at the end to celebrate his birthday as well. All around amazing trip, will definitely be coming back and recommending to others.

I would have loved to give this hotel a better review. But for a place that has "resort" in its name, I would expect more. Full disclosure, we were guests of a big company for a media trip, so we did not pay for the room. The room was ok, a bit noisy until 9:30 pm as there is the bar's patio right underneath our balcony. The problem was an incredible shaking/trembling that would come on and off during the day and night, including late or early depending how you look at it. The entire room would start vibrating at 3 am waking us up. I called the reception and the person I talked to had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. She did not offer to send someone to investigate, she did not offer an explanation and she did not offer anything along the lines of "we'll look into it". The next day, when we came back to our room to change for the evening, the trembling was ongoing. I went downstairs to talk to one of the receptionists, and she told me that this vibration was caused because of the fans of the kitchen that they turn on at the end of the evening for a little while. When I told her that it was on when I left the room, she practically dismissed it. Again, no investigation of the matter whatsoever. Nice place, really nice pool and view (the view is everywhere in Sedona), but not particularly top-notch as the name might suggest.

They say you can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig! That is how I would describe this dump. Our stay was horrible. First assigned to a room next to Bubba and his three hound dogs. Toilets overflowed. Sinks leaked. This place is a mess!

Very pretty view and nice room, but the bed is so uncomfortable and I really want my pillow from home. You can hear the people above you walking. Not worth the price.

We recently had our wedding here and it was the best experience I could have ever asked for. Everyone there exceeded my expectations! The hotel grounds and rooms are beautiful. The ambiance and perks are top notch. And the staff are all beyond helpful and welcoming. The onsite restaurant is also phenomenal! All of our guests were talking about how beautiful our wedding was and how tasty the food was for weeks. I can't wait to come back here many more times.

Went for a drink outside and at the bar. Great barman and staff. Amazing view during the day with cool looking infinity pool. Check out the stream at the back of the property for a great find.

People here we're great and helpful. However for the price paid I was underwhelmed. Fitness area was just ok. Never made it to the pool. Only in the 60's when we visited. It is close to walk to shops and restaurants.

Man to come but he was very nice Asked for help with luggage to check out and we carried our own to our car after waiting 25 minutes We waited till 4 pm to get into our room and just nothing was fresh or clean and the cost we paid almost 500.00 w tax Not worth it and will never return The little lotion they want you to see if you like and buy more at front desk was half empty because the housekeeper's don't do a good job at all Food was terrible and room service was the same horrible menu nothing a kid would eat and kids were everywhere I wondered what they could eat Dinner was over priced for not up to par food However the dining room staff were wonderful and friendly You pay that kind of money and expecting something fabulous Not at this hotel go elsewhere don't waste your money Date stayed 10/10/17

Upscale and cosy-modern hotel near the river. Nice pool with easy entry (very good for kids) and an overall relaxed environment. Excellent restaurant and fancy cocktails! nice for a romantic retreat!

Thanks for making our stay so amazing. The creekside spa room was great and very quiet. The grounds are clean. We enjoyed our time at the pool and relaxing in a cabana. The 1 mile radius shuttle was very helpful especially when it was hot outside. Make sure you eat at least one meal at Saltrock. Every meal we had at Saltrock was amazing. The bartenders and wait staff were all wonderful. Go to the spa even if you just go to the steam room and relax in the spa lounge. The location cannot be beat. We cannot wait to be back.

Celebrated an anniversary here and had a great time. They upgraded our room, the pool was fantastic, free wine happy hour, the room was well kept and clean. Free valet parking and free bikes to use to go around town, plus the concierge was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

I have been here a few times over the last few years for various reasons. I've only stayed here once and it was shortly after it initially opened. Whether staying or part of an event, everyone is always very helpful and polite. Everything is taken care of and the rooms are very nice. Especially those along the creek.

The valets we're great, the food was great, the pool and social activities were excellent. The room left something to be desired. Not very sound proof, the bed had loud spring noises, and the shower never worked. It was either freezing cold or scalding hot with literally no in between. For as expensive as this place is, they need to spend more time making sure the rooms are better. Update: We raised our concerns to the manager and they were very accommodating and helped us out with the room. I would consider coming here again if and when I go back to Sedona.

This is the the most friendly and accommodating Hotel I have ever stayed in. The complimentary items and offers are beyond typical 4 star hotels. The staff is very friendly with smiley service. The views are the best in town and worth every penny you pay to stay here. Great good and drinks. Everything you would want in a hotel stay is here. P. S. Spa and fitness is state of the art! This place will not disappoint!

My husband and I stayed here over 4th of July weekend and had an amazing time! The staff is courteous, accomodating and attentive! They are truly pet friendly too! There are only two areas the dogs were not allowed, the pool and the turf. There were complimentary dog beds and food & water bowls waiting in the room, when you sit down for a meal at Salt Rock they immediately poor a bowl of water for the pups and every single staff member went out of their way to greet our pups when they crossed them! The shuttle will take you and pick you up from anywhere within a mile of the hotel, when you call the front desk from your room they greet you by name and at check out, all we had to do was call guest services to let them know we were ready and they sent a bellman for our bags, had our car waiting out front and loaded it for us! Oh, and the bar makes the best Amaretto Sour I've ever had! We will be staying in only Kimpton hotels from now on!

Even though I ranked a 3, I would definitely recommend Amara to someone. The location is convenient, staff was wonderful, rooms were clean, free valet and Wi-Fi. A few things that made the rating lower — nothing that would cause someone to avoid the place: no in-room coffee, portions at the restaurant were small for apps (breakfast was substantial though), and the "unadvertised" resort free of 27 was annoying, merely because it felt a bit shady/sneaky. Overall, it was a great experience. Pricey, but we found a ton on Hotel Tonight, and every page arms to be overpriced, so I guess you can't hold it against them in particular!

I had booked two rooms requesting second floor and side by side. When we arrived at three pm neither room was available. Our rooms were not on the second floor and we were twenty rooms apart. They did offer to move us on Friday, but who wants to move half way through their stay. They did not offer any compensation for not meeting any of our request. When we finally did get to our room their was ants in the bathroom. My husband called to have them taken care of, a hour and a half no one showed. Had to call again, this time they did show up immediately. Room was ok, bathroom needs updates. Need to pay attention to customers request especially when they are Karma Members.

Had a very nice time. Room was very comfortable. I would of liked a better view, instead of just a wall. The Spa was great, really enjoyed the free steam room and yoga. The massage I had was good, bit a bit pricey. The best part was the location, right in the middle of downtown Sedona! Overall, I would give it 3-1/2 stars of 5.

My fiancee and I really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were elegant and clean. The staff was very friendly and the location made it close to every place we chose to visit. The fire pits in the back are nice when it gets cooler and the pool has a great view on the mountains. That said, the resort fees aren't really discussed and they seem to hit you up with them often. Other than that, it's a upscale getaway we would recommend to others.

Really enjoyed my one night here. Great for price. Don't miss walking down the creek in the back :). We had a nice meal outside with an AMAZING view and live guitar. Get a room on the second floor, there was a bit a noise from the maid service cleaning the room upstairs early Sunday morning.

This would be a good training place for my co-workers at our resort to go to for "how not to create a pleasant stay or perform your job". The bath tub / jacuzzi noise had a nice loud buzz to it. The hotel check-in employee was consistent. Ridiculous. You also might have a surprise walk in visit to your room so be presentable. I am sincerely sorry.

Ardi makes the best drinks in town. He is also very open minded and open to suggestions. We created a drink with coppercity bourbon and luxaurdo Cherrys that was excellent and will replace my go to old fashion when arriving at Amara. We deem it Corncopp. Order it if you like whiskey! He also made my gf a great vodka and cran.

May 8, 7:30PM. Bartender tried to charge us for drink we didn't order. Had to argue with him before he accepted his mistake. Then, he tried to barter against his mistake for a cup of hot cocoa that he didn't charge us for originally. Wow! If this hotel is going for embarrassing its guests, then it succeeded. Tipped the guy, but we will never go back.

Beautiful room and facilities, accommodating staff, easy access to Sedona — would stay again.

My Wife (Fiance at the time), son and I decided last minute to drive up to Sedona from our getaway in Phoenix for ten days to have a small wedding Ceremony at Cathedral Rock (just the three of us). Amara set us up with a lovely room last minute over-looking their courtyard/pool/restaurant area. The spa was able to accommodate a facial while my son and I relaxed poolside in a cabana before our room was ready. They delivered congratulatory champagne and chocolate covered strawberries after we settled in. A nice touch, and the room service dinner we had that evening was delicious. Perfect for the three of us. The infinity pool overlooks the river, which provided the perfect ambiance for our post-nuptial relaxation. Thank you Amara.

Gorgeous hotel. Beautifully decorated in a modern motif and easy to get around in. I give 5 stars for the following reasons — The valet is included. Not only that, every valet attendant we encountered was more than helpful, genuinely friendly, energetic and nice. We were happy to tip :) not just from obligation. They also offer a shuttle service for up to 1 mile from the hotel if you want to go somewhere. They had absolutely no problems going beyond that and didn't fall back on the excuse of policy, like you would expect. The rooms are nice, CO Bigelow in the bathroom and other items for purchase (anything you need right there if you need it you don't have to call down — $ razor, kind bars, toothbrush, lover's kit etc) The courtyard area is really cool. They have firepits and chairs where we sat in the late evening and had a drink. They have oversized games in the lawn for children to play (checkers, bean bag toss) the hot tub was near the pool which was really cool and had a beautiful view (of course) and little cabanas. we were completely happy with our stay — no complaints at all. Wouldn't change anything except maybe a lower rate ;).

Amazing hotel. The staff are fantastic and deserve high praise. Great views of the mountains from some rooms and a great pool area. Don't forget wine hour from 5-6pm daily. Kimpton Karma rewards will get you free Wi-Fi and $10 free from the bar. We will be back.

Amazing resort, great service and location.

Not worth the money, and they recommended an unpermitted tour guide (C. Frakes). He told us to pretend to be his friends when he saw rangers coming our way. Luckily we were not stopped, they seemed preoccupied with another matter. We went on TripAdvisor and saw lots of links in the forum re fines by rangers. I told my traveling companion, I would note this, so other travelers would think twice. This is just not professional. She paid alot of money for our stay. You expect the best, and that means the best referrals too. Being permitted is being professional.

Usually I love Kimptons and as I travel frequently for business, stay at Kimptons when I can. So when I suggested to my son and his girlfriend to stay at the Amara in Sedona, I thought they'd have a fantastic 'first trip' experience together. Boy was I wrong! Now I must first say the weather was really bad — — rainy and cold. The couple could experience NOTHING — — not the horseback riding they planned, or the hot air ballooning. When they turned to the 'resort and spa, ' for indoor sanctuary, they were told that the pool and the jacuzzi were not operating — — and apparently it will take DAYS — which frankly is all they could afford at this pricey spa being in their early 20's working at first jobs. I called asking what the hotel could offer if we were to extend their night one more night and was told they could pay exactly what they did through Expedia and nothing was offered in lieu of the fact that the facilities were not working. The woman I spoke with was EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful and actually argued with me! No apologies were made for the pool and jacuzzi not working and in fact she said, 'and it's likely not to be working tomorrow either. ' Then, To add insult to injury, after I called and spoke with staff there apparently a staff person called my son in the hotel and offered to book them another night if they wanted to stay longer — AT TEN DOLLARS MORE THAN THEY PAID THROUGH EXPEDIA. This is inexcusable.
