Reviews of Goulding's Lodge 3*
Great tour with Melvin! Highly recommend.
Really beautiful and a splendid view. Very spacious room, I highly recommend.
I stayed here in 1977 on a family vacation when it was just a single strip hotel. Fast Forward 45 years, Both the lodge and area have grown a little bit! The room was good sized and the bed was comfortable! A must do at least once or twice in your lifetime!
The breakfast was terrible. Cold eggs, overcooked bacon that was cold, pancakes were somewhat warm. Service was terrible and the waiter was very inattentive. Drinks were not promptly brought out. Not worth the $18 I spent. If I could leave a half a star I would.
We had a wonderful stay this past week. Very nice staff. Good restaurant. We had a great time in our late afternoon/evening tour. I would highly recommend staying here!
Great views, Accommodations, Food and Staff✌🙏🎸
Amazing view with a room! Clean and tidy with balcony. Nice diner style restaurant with good food!
Awesome view 😎 of monument valley.
We rented 2 places while there for our small wedding. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would highly recommend it! All the employees were great, as well. Love, love the area!
Friendly staff, got in early, room was clean and beds are good. If we ever come back this way we'll be staying here. Food at the restaurant was really good. Tried fry bread for the first time.
Nice, great location and very clean.
Not too expensive, clean and AMAZING VIEWS!
Breakfast was good too
Front desk. Great customer service.
Highly recommend lodging and tours in the Monument Valley. We had a great stay, our room is very nice and it has a stunning view of the Monument Valley, nice and friendly people. The Goulding's Lodge provide convenience, it has its own Restaurant, Gift Shop, Museum, Tours, Grocery Store, and Gas Station. Our Deluxe Tour gave us a good experience and memories. Thank you Goulding's Lodge Monument Valley! Looking forward to be back again. ❤️😊🚗🏜🇺🇸
I had an amazing experience. The staff was very friendly. The room was way beyond expectations. Everything was super clean. The bed was comfortable. The restaurant was great. Good food at reasonable prices. And the view. Sun rise and sunset over Monument Valley… INCREDIBLE! 10 out of 10 would recommend!
Fantastic location. Love the views and the history. Staff was very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Our room was super clean. A+!
Amazing views, cozy atmosphere.
Nice quiet place. Beautiful views.!
Unbelievable scenery and accessibility.
Cleanliness and safety beyond expectations.
Phenomenal views of Monument Valley right from our room. Great place and friendly hosts! John Wayne stayed here in the 40’s while filming John Ford’s classic Westerns.
Without a doubt this place is spectacular, the views alone are worth the price of admission. Huge room, great food and the staff have been nothing but great. I surely will be staying here again.
The staff that work there are so incredibly nice and helpful. We truly enjoyed our visit.
Very clean rooms, good food and friendly helpful staff.
Great clean rooms, great amenities n wonderful staff all around!
Staying in the Villas with my dog. Stunning views, great staff, highly recommend!
Restaurant, gas, grocery, and comfy room with a terrific view all in one location. The staff is friendly, and their we're surprise discounts in the gift shop and restaurant when I arrived. I wish I was planning a longer stay. It's in a good location to make day trips to the surround areas. I'd love to come back.
Great hospitality.
great food
the fry bread was great
the scenery was excellent and exceptional.
Amazing view. Great to sit back and relax. Perfect for a family with 3 large rooms. 2 with 2 queen beds and 1 with a king bed. 2 bathrooms, laundry and a kitchen.
Great views. Super friendly people. Good food. Definitely do one of the tours.
Perfect room, view of MV, comfy king size, great bathroom, and you have to try the Navajo burger. Enjoyed our stay here and would recommend. ✌
Beautiful viewing from large balcony. Very nice tour.
A lovely place to stay! The rooms are clean and staff are so helpful. It is a great location — we could see Monument Valley from our balcony.
Great view from the terrace. Nice room, has a small fridge. Restaurant, gift shop, grocery store, laundry… all right here.
Cozy surroundings, amazing service minded staff. Rums are clean, and beds are really nice.
Terrific Time!
Excellent Staff and the Food was Delicious!
Perfect location for a trip that's been on the list for a very long time. Helpful staff, very comfortable room and an amazing valley view. My only complaint… I wish I'd booked for longer. But at least I can look forward to coming back.
Great salad bar. The views are wonderful.
Stunning views of the Valkey.
We enjoyed everything. The staff was helpful, rooms were immaculate and the food delicious. Looking forward to staying here again in 2020
Obviously the views are amazing! The 1 bedroom villas are worth the price for those that love the views and want to take it all in. Cozy rooms and spectacular gift shop. The food in the diner was good, but pricey.
Breathtaking location, very nice and well equipped cabin. Highly recommended!
Very helpful and courteous staff.
Great location and everything you need is right here. We stayed in a villa with view of Monuments from front porch. Tours are lots of fun and we learned a lot. Good service and employees and service has been great. It's not a fancy place and that is fine with us. We will be back!
Stayed in one of the villas recently. It was amazing. All of the comforts of home, and the most breathtaking views of the sunset and sunrise. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Can’t say enough good things! Would definitely stay again!
We just returned from our stay at Gouldings! It was a FANTASTIC visit. NEVER ENDING VIEW! Take the Gouldings all day tour that includes the Mystery Valley! Scenery spectacular. We learned so much about Navaho culture from our guides. We did a full moon tour also that was well worth time and money. We had some clouds and our guide kept us riveted with her stories until the moon decided to make an appearance. The room we had faced the valley and we had a superlative view of the sunrise! Room was clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly. Make your decision early and book your stay here. You won't regret it!
The restaurant has great food. We stayed in a house there and the view in the morning was breathtaking. The services were very easy to access, Jeep tours were easy to sign up for and incredibly thorough, and the facility was clean and well managed. We will definitely be staying here again in the future for visits to monument valley. It’s an incredible place.
This is the place u want to stay if you visit Monument Valley Utah! This place was made famous by John Wayne and John Ford while filming their westerns. Awesome views from every room at the main lodge. They now also have cabins available. Which I HAVE TO ADD ARE AWESOME! I’ve been to the area over 100 times and have stayed in all 3 areas of accommodations. The also have camp sights which you can’t see the valley from but the views back there are also breath taking. Only laundry area is near the trading post. You can book tours of the area right there at the main lobby of the hotel. The guides are very knowledgeable and are from the area. The food there is also vary good. I’ve know the owners of the restaurant for many years & truly enjoy our many conversations! On sight is John Wanes cabin where he stayed while he was there. And yes of course they have a gift shop. The staff there have always been very nice & will help you in any way…
Wow! The view from our campsite was out of this world! We spent one night in a tent here. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. We didn’t use the showers so I can’t speak to that, but the campground itself was very well kept. There is a fun trail inside the campground that leads you to an arch. We wished we were staying longer.
We only had a night at Goulding's Lodge but it was memorable. Our cabin had a front porch with a view of Monument Valley and as the sun set and the stars began to glow, we decided to make some hot tea and enjoy the cool night. It was only as the door clicked shut that we realized both keys were inside the cabin! A fellow guest called the staff for assistance and we were rescued within 15 minutes. Our cabin was clean, comfortable and the views were amazing. They have restaurants, shopping and a great John Wayne collection too. We highly recommend Goulding's Lodge if you need a place to stay in Monument Valley.
Went there for dinner. Good flavorful food. A bit pricey, but you get good sized portions. Staff was nice and answered all our questions. The Cactus Ice Tea is a must to try, especially if you like vanilla. I had pasta with chicken. Pasta marinara sauce was flavorful, but pasta was overcooked. Overall I would eat here again if in the area.
Great location close to Monument Valley. The hotel is already in itself immersed in a fantastic setting. Available rooms with views of Monument Valley or the very nice and spacious single houses to enjoy more intimacy. Availability of a grocery store and a gas station. There is also a nice museum dedicated to John Wayne.
Only a short visit there. Great jeep ride around valley. Of course tempnuments dry impressive. Very nice restaurant with good food. Best gift shop we've seen around here.
Small new bungalows and super well equipped! You can shop at the supermarket next door and eat at home quietly. Good to know a very well equipped laundromat is located right next to the minimarket (express machine in 24 minutes and almost dry laundry in 12 minutes all for 6 dollars with the dollar for the dose of laundry). Just the top!
A pleasant surprise. Great food, the Navajo taco my favorite. All the staff were very friendly. It was great to watch “She wore a yellow ribbon” after touring Monument Valley.
Super Recommended! We spent one night there. Clean and comfortable room with breathtaking views over Monument Valley. Magic Sunrise… Great restaurant and high quality food at both breakfast and dinner. Friendly staff and helpful in reception and restaurant.
Enriching though old-fashioned and poorly organized museum. Beautiful gift shop. Worth a stop to understand how the place became mythical.
Loved the cabin accommodations! Great view! Wonderful service. Dining facility was spot on as well. We also took a 3 1/2 hour tour. Great but happy we didn't take the 8 hour tour.
Interesting but old-timed. Still worth a stop to understand how the place became mythical.
Beautiful gift shop that offers authentic items and pretty T-shirts.
A hotel made up of many bungalows, very comfortable, clean and well equipped, of good value, which allow you to enjoy the view of the Monument Valley site for a longer period of time.
Cabin was brand new and furnishings fantastic. Our view from the front porch looked right out over the valley. Staff was great and check-in and check-out was efficient. One star taken off because of an air conditioner unit that made minor whining noises but disturbed our sleep. Luckily it was cool enough not to have to run all night. I hate to take off the star because otherwise it was a fantastic stop in our trip.
Lovely place. Great location Clean and comfortable. Veranda overlooking Monument Valley. Breakfast in the restaurant great and plentiful. Friendly staff Super recommended.
The five stars already exist just because of the view. We were only in because new houses below and not in the hotel above. We weren't eaten and poolside either. Just a quick glance of everything told me ok.
The houses are very chic cosy and clean.
It's fun to stay here. We have taken care of ourselves here. After 2 weeks USA we were once after "local food" (scrambled eggs with ham and toast + salad).
Historical lodge created by Harry and Mike Goulding with a tremendous view on Monument Valley. The museum with the list of films realized in the scenery makes the place very special.
All rooms face Monument Valley. Every thing you would need is at Gouldings so you need not leave the area. The lodge sits back by the mountains for a quiet nights sleep. Great star gazing. Visit the museum which has amazing history. Everyone there is doing a great job. Thanks to everyone for a stay to remember forever.
Great location in the valley monument … simple but fully-equipped apartment … great bed … clean. Is not new … At least of our apartment … When booking, pay attention to the unobstructed view into the valley. We had house behind mountain u had to drive 400m by car to see the sunrise in the valley … Other rooms or cottages are better … Small food load is there u restaurant also … We weren't eating though … Otherwise everything okay u to recommend.
We stayed 1 night in this beautiful place, on Christmas Eve. The view from the rooms is fabulous with the Monument Valley on the horizon, our room had 2 double beds, as for the rest of the hotels we visited in this part of Usa, was present the Mouquet and in the Baths the tub. A set for the preparation of tea and coffee. A small balcony with tables and chairs. In the hotel there was also a heated swimming pool of which we did not use (forgot the costumes) a typical restaurant with prices not really affordable. I could, back tomorrow!
Stunning view
We had one of the small bungalows too top.
On the other hand restaurant without alcohol since we are on a reserve.
In short we advise.
The view, the view, oh the view! Great place for a beautiful sunset and sunrise. The room itself is nice size, comfortable bed, and great patio views. It’s situated right off a large butte making it even more impressive.
I'm a HUGE animal lover and I stayed here for one night and it seems like a popular dumping site for dogs. In one night I saw 3 dogs starving for food and water so I gave them. I actually took home the third dog because it was an 3 month old puppy (Very Thin) The property NEEDS to help these dogs cause I couldn't enjoy a single minute there because I was so saddened by the site of these poor dogs!
Excellent view. Good facilities. Food.
Yes you can't afford the accommodation inside the park this is definitely the best option. The location is amazing with exceptional views. Breakfast is a great way to start the day. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Location, location, location. This is the best all around place in monument valley. Basic accommodations and restaurant, but it met all of our needs and put us right where we needed to be.
Great view though is not as close to Monument Valley. Clean and comfortable.
Decent room, amazing views, terrible food and service in the restaurant. Visitors should be aware that all of the land in Monument Valley is privately owned. It is not like a national park where you can get out and hike on your own. Except for a 17 mile dirt road loop that one is permitted to drive on unaccompanied, if one wants to get out and explore, then one must hire a local native guide.
This place was great! We had a great view from the patio with our room. Beds were comfy. It was clean, staff was very friendly. Wish we had a microwave for left overs, but whatever. It was a nice place. I'm glad we went.
Breathtaking views of Monument Valley from the room.
Very good in every respect. Breathtaking. Connected restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner, friendly and professional employees. Souvenirs in the lodge's shop cost less than the visitor center. In short, you can no better! P. S. Ask for the ground floor room so you don't have any obstacles between you and the monument.
The best hotel we had in the area. Rooms are spacious and clean. A lot of small thoughtful details like the natural soap and sewing kit. Amazing view in the morning. At night they play some movies shot in the area! And the restaurant is reasonably priced and good. Definitely recommended.
I have been coming here for 50 years but no more. This was our last visit. They have over developed it and the property has lost its soul and ruined the views with the new trailers that they call suites. Stay at the View Lodge, next to Monument Valley Visitors Center, and support he Navajo directly while enjoying a much better and a more natural uncluttered view. Food is still good, and the staff great, but who ever thought catering to the tour bus crowd and plunked down those despicable trailers should know that they have seriously degraded what Goulding once was in their greed.
Wonderful! Spectacular location, we saw dawn Monument Valley from the balcony of our room. The hotel is really beautiful with a small museum and a gift shop. The restaurant attached to the hotel is really great!
Just the best location. Wake up at sunrise for a special surprise view… sunset too. Indoor pool, free movie theater that show movies filmed in Monument Valley. Great gift shop and museum… oh and an onsite restaurant. Food store, gas station w/D, car wash, food court all nearby.
Came here in the winter and it was perfect for us. Very cheap as it was out of season, great location for visiting the National Monument and the room was excellent. There is a restaurant, museum, gift shop and supermarket app around the grounds so everything you need is right there. A highlight was the little theatre there which shows classic John Wayne films which were made in the area. When we were there it was showing ‘She Wore a Yellow Ribbon’ which used a cabin on the hotel grounds as part of the set, right outside the theatre — very cool!
A little pricey, but you pay for the convenience of being right across from the park entrance. The room itself was nice, and the bed was comfortable, but I have stayed in nicer places for less. The food in the dining area was good. This will not be a bad choice but there could be better places for the same price close by also.
Great establishment, recent and modern accommodation. Beautiful view of Monument Valley!
Aside from its breathtaking location the RV park is immaculate with the highest professional care you can get. Everything you may need is nearby, if not at the park store then a short hike or drive to the grocery store less than a mile away. The staff are wonderful people and you can tell they put a little of themselves in every task they do. The park includes some great trails that are well worth your time and effort. Keep in mind you are in wilderness high desert and plan for accordingly with proper gear and water. As with any rural area you have to keep your eyes open for wildlife and other natural risks. We will plan another visit here in the near future.
Beautiful view of the Monument Valley, comfortable room and good value for money restaurant.
There are 2 different places to stay: a building with rooms and an area of small independent houses. The houses have 2 rooms with TV, kitchenette and bathroom. Very close to Monument Valley.
Monument Valley was a part of a "bucket list" places to visit on my 6485 KM trip from Sayulita (Mexico) to Toronto (Canda). I knew that I would like to be close to the the Valley and that I would like to see it from the hotel in case that weather changes or if I see that the sunrise is interesting for taking pics… It worked! Clouds came in quite quickly and I had a chance to jump into the car and drive right into the valley to take some really nice photographs before the rain started. All the hotel rooms have the view of the valley. Very clean and peaceful:-) Local people are the ones running everything from the receptions to cleaning of the rooms and are very friendly. All and all good place to stay! Being in the desert, nothing is close! There is only one restaurant/part of the hotel, small store below and that's it. However it was expected and not very important, just mentioning it if you are expecting fine dining or starbucks near buy:-)
The rooms are simple, no more. For the price you have without including breakfast it would seem very expensive if it weren't for the excellent location to see Sunrise with the Monument Valley background and the starry sky at night. There are not many places to sleep in the area either.
Great site on the edge of Monuments Nat. Park. Navajo land.
A really unique place to visit the views are unique. The restaurant on site serves amazing food and the service is excellent. Don't miss it.
We chose the cabin option. This hotel will not disappoint you. Views of Monument Valley from the living room, terrace. Apartment with all services, kitchen, coffee maker, full tableware. It is a bit pricey but if you can afford it, it is definitely one of the best options to see the sunrise from the terrace. You won't be disappointed.
Was a nice clean room. Staff was friendly. Dinner was only so-so. Had to wait in line and the food was not very good.
Very comfortable place to stay, it's not a high end accommodation or dining experience but great for a short stay. Staff are welcoming and friendly, and it's reasonably close to some great sight seeing locations.
How this place has such a high rating is beyond us. The setting is beautiful — truly amazing — but the hotel is an atrocity. They have made some effort to update it but that consists of new headboards for the beds. Our particular room was horrific. The shower did not drain (and the shower head was about waist high), the air conditioner worked poorly, the walls were paper thin, and the room smelled. WAY overpriced.
Food was ok. The view was awesome. I did check out the price of the rooms and seemed way over priced. Just get a cabin down the road for a 1/3 the price.
Amazing place! The view from the room was perfect, the food, the service. All super friendly, clean. An amazing experience.
Great place to stay. We stayed at one of the tent sites, and we're very pleased with our night. The site was clean, and the facilities were well maintained. The only issue I had was that the "security" guy drove around the camp site periodically throughout the night, and his truck wasn't exactly a quiet one.
We got the stand along lodge with its own porch. Very roomy and clean except for the dried blood stain on one of the blankets. Too bad it didn't come with a stove. This place even has its own museum, theater and a gas station. And the surrounding views… WOW!
Excellent location and convenient to visit Monument Valley, the cottage where we stayed was nice, clean and well equipped.
Stayed at the RV Park. Fantastic people, unbeatable views, and nice campsite. If you are in this area, I would certainly recommend.
Remote, but beautiful location in Monument Valley, UT. Wi-Fi available. Checking in and out was quick and easy with the nice, smiling staff. Room was a small, basic one, but did have a fridge and microwave.
Very comfortable rooms with wide beds and a nice kitchen. We also got to be in a very quiet area.
More than great, and additionally the amazing view!
Terrible! The house we stayed in was straight out of the 1980's and hadn't been refurbed ever by the looks of it. Furniture was all scratched up or broken. Dirt in the corners in bathroom area. Scary!
The place and the surrounding is just beautiful. Can see mittens from the restaurant. Friendly staff. Our room was like 1 bedroom apartment and a littler away from hotel office.
The room was neat and it has a balcony with a decent view of Monument Valley landscape. Service was good as well. Very convenient place to stay because of restaurant, pool and fitness center in house.
Goulding's gave my room away to one of many hundreds in a bus tour, even though I had a confirmed reservation. What do they think "confirmed" means? Left my family with nowhere to sleep after driving for hours across the desert. Desk clerk/manager's attitude was essentially "tough luck" even when I presented a printed our copy of my confirmation. Dangerous and unacceptable. Don't risk the same disaster with your family.
Visited there on my trip to Monument Valley. Great trading post. Also good view of the valley. My favorite was the visit to the John Wayne Museum that shows lot of phots from the movies made there. See my included photos.
I would give it a 5 star except my wife and I woke up around 2 AM with the squeaky floor noise from the upstairs floor (someone must have just checked in). Could not sleep for almost an hour. Completely unacceptable. My wife called the first desk and someone just said ok. Next day my wife complained to the front desk and they just kept saying sorry. Do not stay on the first floor. Other than the squeaky floor everything was just fine, front desk, room, view, the restaurant food and servers are excellent.
My brother, sister and I have made the trip to Goulding's for the last two years. What an amazing place. We stayed in the double wide mobile home and it was great. Loved cooking our supper's and watching the sun set while we ate. Loved the little patio on the front and our visits from Shadow. She seemed to remember us from the year before.
Hit a cow about 15 miles north of Goulding driving at night. Got towed to Goulding Lodge. Nice place.
We stayed one night here in November 2014. The location is excellent for exploring the Monument Valley park. The rooms have a view of the beautiful buttes and spires, though not as nice as what the hotel in the park would have. The price, $55/night, was great value, and I can't imagine there was nicer available lodging in the area for that price. The room was clean and well appointed. Coffee in the room helped us get an early start the next morning. Free Wi-Fi worked well in the room and we were able to book our next accommodations. They have a restaurant that seemed to have a similar menu as the restaurant in the park. They also have a nice little (free) museum on the hotel property that is worth the visit, though it will only take you 15 minutes to walk around it. They have nightly showings of John Wayne movies in their theater.
Breathtaking view of the rocks from the motel; pricey, but comfortable and clean, friendly staff. Spend the extra to get the 2-3 hour tour of Monument Valley with Leland, our knowledgeable tour guide, who was gracious and tolerant when explaining some of the history of his people, the Dine' (pronounced Din A') who have erroneously been referred to as Navajo for 400 years. Fascinating history.
The BEST place to stay in Monument Valley! I've been there before in 1996 and 1998 and just went back. Nice to see the upgrades. Clean rooms, peaceful place, great bed! It is the BEST place to see the sun rise over the red rocks. Had a great show from the patio. I'll be back.
Lovely setting and very interesting museum, especially the upstairs home of the Gouldings. The campground was very nice although we didn't use the restrooms so we don't know how they were. I wish they would provide for the dogs roaming around and spa/neuter them. Don't get rid of them, just manage them. The dogs were one of the most charming features at Taos Pueblo. They can afford to do this with the prices they charge for a campsite.
Big rock ha ha ha.
