To be clear, the motel is okay, even cute… and it is a motel, not a hotel. The restaurant, on the other hand, is awful. Be sure to ask for silverware early, or you might not get some before your meal cools off. The decor is cute, but the food and service need tons of improvement!

We had a great time! Totally cool space theme. Clean pool. Tasty restaurant next door. Highly recommend.

Just don't go if you're disabled… one of the two parking spots gets blocked and unusable.

Worst service I ever had food was cold and we did not get everything we ordered I would not recommend this place to my dogs food was terrible oj was good.

Wonderful little hotel, fabulous staff, and the kids LOVED being able to swim late at night.

Clean rooms. Complimentary breakfast in the diner. The diner left a lot to be desired but the beds were comfortable.

We stayed one night in aug 2018. It is a very neat experience, and the history of this place is fascinating. The free breakfast was made to order and very good! The room was clean and roomy. Most importantly the air-conditioner worked great which was very important because it was 99° at 10 PM.

Front desk was nice and the rooms were clean. This is not a luxury place however it is very comfortable. Free breakfast is included in the hotel price but I did not get to eat as I left early. The pool needs to be cleaned and updated. The jets in the Jacuzzi were not working when I was there.

We enjoyed our stay. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean.

Stay was good. Nice room for the price. Only compliants was there were bugs in the bathroom (came in through the open bathroom window) and mouse droppings outside by our door. You get a complimentary breakfast, but the food wasn't amazing. Pancakes were good.

Super cool hotel. Room very nice. The space ship theme was… different. The restaurant was kind of over priced for fair at best food and the wait staff were indifferent about doing their jobs.

Nice clean inn with an unusual theme/decor. Helpful staff and convenient to the interstate. We will come back.

I love the Space Age Restaurant attached to this hotel. One of the best destination eateries or breakfast with the motorcycle riding community. However when the breakfast meal averages a nominal $6.99 and they charge an outstanding $3.49 for a cola or coffee, this is ridiculous. The beverage is 1/2 the price of the meals. Quite the fail. Next time I am only ordering water.

Ever since I was a little kid I’d go by this place on the long trip to Cali and look at it in awe. Thinking to myself how absolutely cool is this?! Finally me and my buddy went in and what a disappointment it was. Food was bland and room temperature. 5 days worth of eating out on vacation and the meal I had was by far the worst. Couldn’t even stomach half of it. Had the cheeseburger and it had just a very weird taste / consistency to it. Now when I drive by I will no longer look at it in awe but rather be reminded of how let down I was. Just a total shame.

Cool theme but expected more for the price to be honest. Room was clean. Internet connection was great. Trains behind the building can be heard running all night.

I have stayed at this place many times over the years and have loved the accommodations and the quiet little town of Gila Bend. They have a restaurant right next door that provides a free full breakfast to start off your day. The people in the front office or fantastic and the rooms are always clean and ready to go! It's the best place in Gila Bend, no question.

This might be the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. I didn't really interact with any of the staff but I had to notice, someone who works here (staff? Owner? Repair-person? IDK) has an incredible eye for detail. Every single thing was just *good*. They obviously really care about the place and are very thoughtful about the things that go in it. Anyway A+ super comfortable would definitely go out of my way to stay there again.

Very disappointed… we have stopped here several times before to have a good meal. We didn't stay after we sat down and looked at the menu today and won't be going back. The prices are OUTRAGEOUS for what they are offering and the menu choices have been cut way down. Server said new owner changed entire menu and raised prices.

We just stopped by and had lunch. We had their cheese burger with fries and hubby had cheese burger with onion rings. The food was cold and extremely greasy. They didn’t even offer to make our food over again, less loan ask us how our meals were. Do Not recommend anyone to go and eat there. Service was terrible and food was even worse!

This is an old property in Gila Bend; can't get around that. Hence, would reduce my credibility if I gave a fifth star. BUT… for service to the customer and comfort of the room, it REALLY does DESERVE a 5th star. And all of us could use a little more "retro" in our lives! We actually LOVE that it IS an older property, all one level. We consider it a big plus! Every room has the capacity to park your car right in front of your room! Super friendly and helpful staff, on-site restaurant, and the best mattress, pillows, and linens of anywhere we stayed… including some fairly up-scale "competition". This was our BEST night's sleep. Love this place.

Nice sparkly clean place. Don't expect much in the way of space travel displays except for the signs outside the motel and the restaurant. Front desk and staff were very friendly. I gave it 4 stars instead of five because of the cost. Over $200 dollars. Breakfast was free, in their restaurant, and was good.

The outside is a little retro, but they have upgraded all of the rooms, the reception area and the restaurant. We have been coming here for many years on our way to Tucson from California. Easy on and off on Gila Bend business route 8. Best breakfast in town (at the restaurant) and it's free with the stay! The rooms, bedding, furniture and air conditioners have all been upgraded. This was a nice place to stay in the past, but the upgrades even make it better. Nice job. I'd recommend it highly.

A great experience from start to finish. The staff was so friendly and professional. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The continental breakfast included with the stay was awesome and filling. I love the space theme and overall decor.

Just stopped on way back to phoenix and it was ok. Absolutely no substitutions on half fries onion rings for dinners must be all one or the other but it is suggested in other parts of menu. Also no ranch available for salad bar or chicken strips. Went there years ago and remember it being just ok food then too. Decor has changed. Used to be more interesting.

Overall, the room and beds were fine. Front desk was good. Parking is good. No microwave in room. You get a voucher for the adjoining restaurant, Space Age. Order off a complimentary hotel menu. Pretty basic. Food's okay. No breakfast bar. Not even a fruit basket. Have to buy bottled water in lobby. Anyway, for $120, I think this could have been better.

What great character. This is an older motel, but by far the cleanest we have ever stayed at. Great staff.

All the excellent quality room and options we have come to expect (and enjoy) at the BWs. This one was great. Especially enjoyed the sparkle and interesting lighting effects on the exterior of the building.

I only ate at the restaurant, but the service was good and staff very friendly. The prices were decent and relaxed environment. I would eat there again and recommend anyone to stop by for a bite.

Overall my stay was good, and will stay at the hotel again. But I did encounter issues that many would consider problems. First, the sink in the bathroom would not drain properly, you had to hold the stopper up for it to drain. Second, the card reader stopped working in the morning. Spent 15 — 20 mins with maintenance trying to get back into the room. It was mentioned that the battery needed to be changed. I was only able to get back in when a family member opened the door after being in the bathroom.

Not a bad place to rest. Everything else in town was not recommended. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Was able to park my utility truck right outside my room so I didn't have to worry about it and it was easy to load and unload. Was able to pay in cash although there is a $100 deposit you get back in the morning. Only thing within walking distance is an Italian joint. You can buy sodas from the front desk. Friendly staff. Good free breakfast.

The Space Age Lodge is an extremely pleasant place to stay. The decorum is outstanding. The staff is extraordinarily courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and professional. The restaurant provides excellent food, and the prices are most reasonable.

Room was clean, the bed was comfortable, I liked the lay out that put my motorcycle just outside my room making it easy to unpack and repack my motorcycle. Hotel staff were very nice and the restaurant free breakfast was very good and they gave you several choices. The only reason I gave the hotel 4 stars was the lack of an ice machine making it necessary to go and ask the check in clerk for ice and describe how much you needed.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and pool was located in the sun (unfortunately next to the main road, but surrounded by trees so you could only hear the road). Pool wad very nice though and a lovely way to cool down after being in the sun all day.

The staff was on point. The pool was large and clean. The room was so comfy! 4 full size pillows on each bed and a thick fluffy comforter! Not a speck of dirt on any of the facilities. We had no UFO on our door despite other unoccupied rooms. The restaurant was ok if you had no expectation for diner quality food. Coffee and pie? Sure. But not dinner or breakfast.

We had been traveling all day, it was hot and we were tired. We didn't have a reservation but stopped at the Best Western and they found a room for us. It was clean, comfortable and everything in it worked well. The staff was courteous and most helpful. I will stay there again.

I would recommend this hotel if you are passing by.

My husband and I wanted to stay past Phoenix on our drive back to California. I looked on the map and picked Gila Bend. I had no idea how small it was until I went to pick a hotel and only saw 3 options. This one had the best reviews and looked quirky and funky! On our travels, we love to stay interesting places with stories, not just lists of "customer care" mantras. To us, we miss the days where tired travelers stopped in to interesting roadside motels and were part of a story. This place has that! It's a Best Western, so the rooms are supplied with the typical interior you would expect from a chain hotel (mini fridge, cable tv, big bathroom counter, comfortable chairs and bed), but if you open the binder located in the room, you can read about the interesting history of this place. Most of all — why is it a space theme? :P All the little touches in the building and room are taken into consideration. Just for a night stay somewhere different and appreciate the special touches someone designed for you. It's something straight out of the 1950's/1960's. The woman that checked us in was so kind and welcoming. As part of your stay, you are given a voucher for breakfast at the Space Age Diner next door. You get options for a fresh made breakfast and hot coffee poured for you! No lame line to get stale cheese danishes and buzzers for your waffle maker that you had to make. It was fresh, delicious and provided a fun environment for breakfast discussions.

Luxury Motel for Hotel Price… This isn't your mother's Best Western, er actually… it is. Drive right up to your room (drive right through it if you are traveling w/o brakes), open the door and embrace your modest sized confinements for the night. You'll be treated with… — Functioning electricity — A/C that reduces ambient temperature by 10 or less degrees! — Shower with variable (and uncontrollable) temperature. — Early wake up by disgruntled maid staff (mandatory amenity). — A voucher for food poisoning at the adjoining Space Waste Cafe. Enjoy! 2/5… Perturbed.

Space themed and in the middle of the desert, what's not to love? Decent free breakfast, Wi-Fi is slow, not much in terms of stuff to do, but if you're in Gila Bend I'd recommend staying here. Also, do yourself a favor and go eat at Sofia's.

Pretty cute hotel. It reminds me of the movie CARS.
