Review of Motel 6-Bessemer, AL - Birmingham 2*

I reserved a room at this motel, because my daughter and I were going to the Alabama football game on Saturday. First of all, when I went into the office to check in on Friday evening, there was no one there for about ten minutes. I called out several times, as well as looked for a bell or something to let someone know we were there. Next, when we first went to the room, I nearly had to break the door down to get in, as the lock mechanism wasn't working properly. The room itself was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but you could clearly tell that there had been some smoking going on in the room. After the football game on Saturday, because the day had been so hot, I planned on getting into the pool to cool off and relax. We got back to the room just after 8:00 pm, I changed into my swimsuit, walked down to the pool, only to find a sign on the gate that said the pool closed at 8:00 pm. REALLY? Eight o'clock pm? Anyway… Our last night in the room, at 2:00 in the morning, someone tried to access the room with a card key and then began banging on the door. When I woke up and asked who it was, a woman asked if this was the right room. I told her that it clearly was not. Granted, the room was cheaper than many others in the area that had jacked their prices up because of the Alabama football game, so I suppose the lesson here is that you get what you pay for. None the less, the next time we go to a Bama game, we'll pay the extra dollars to have a decent room at a decent hotel. We will NOT be back to this one.
