Mayata Pera Aparthotel

Absolutely horrendous experience. I booked an apartment, wasnt checking in till late in the evening. When I areived no one was there to check me in. Door was locked, three other guys arrived same time as me who spoke fluent turkish. They called to the number provided on the the door. After about 20min a guy arrived, who no interest in me whatsoever. He then took money from the guys and I believe he sold my apartment to them, coz it had one double bed and a single bed.
After checking the guys in he asked me for my passport in the street right outside the so called hotel. Which is located in a quiet alley like street, highly likely to get robbed or stabbed if wondering around alone. And, there was this guy taking pictures of my passport in the street, my anxiety was killing me any moment someone was going pass by and take the passport and make a runner. And taking picture of my passport seemed never ending.
He then told me I have to wait so he can go back and change his shoe and kept me waited for another 40min or so.
Finally he arrives and tells me to follow him, he spoke no english so our communication was via gesture and guess work. I had a big luggage and couple of handhold bags, with all this I started walking with him. We walked for a good half an hour, I kept aaking him how far he says something I dont understand. Fonally we arrive in a hotel called Hotel Promise which looked awfully old, falling apart I didnt have a good impression.

I booked online a room in Medusa Apart Apartments, but when I showed up, I was told by a very rude man that the place was full and no vacant room for me. When I mentioned my booking, he said “tough luck”. I moved on and found myself another hotel to stay. But few days later, I found out that they still charged my credit card the full amount. These people are swindlers. Be careful and keep away from this dodgy place.

I had a quite an interesting experience with this hotel and its host.
It happened on the 13.07.2023.
On July 12 I booked a room with two single beds for which I had to pay upfront online without the possibility of cancelation or change (which I was fine with) for myself and my sister who was arriving on the 13 July. Originally we were gonna check in after I'd pick up my sister from Istanbul Airport. I am glad that I thought of going to the hotel first. Because what happened next was just mind blowing and I still can't wrap my head around it.
So my sister was gonna be in Istanbul Airport around 9 pm local time and I arrived in Istanbul at about 5-6 pm from Bursa. So I still had time to check in, leave mu luggage in the room and go to the airport.
Upon arriving at Medusa Apart Hotel which is located on "30 Kılıç Aslan Sokak, Beyoglu, Istanbul Province, 34435, Türkiye" according to the listing on Trip. Com, I discovered that there was no from desk and the door was locked. I called the number that was left on the door and the guy I'm assuming the manager or the owner on the other end told me he was gonna be there in 5 minutes. After about 20 minutes a lady came up which I thought was a cleaning lady (maybe because of her uniform and her lack of English, she could've been the manager for all I know). She greeted me and called the guy I had been on the phone earlier.
