Hotel Mare Datca

Hotel Mare is located within just few steps from a public beach, and within a 10 minute walk from Datca center, so its location is great. The facility is clean, and has ample parking available, which is a great plus. The rooms are rather basic for the prices they charge. Breakfast is included, which is the standard Turkish “Serpme” (spread — which essentially means buffet style). While their breakfast is heads and shoulders above even the best continental / hot breakfast you no still find in Europe or the US, it is below the standards of a decent Turkish Serpme breakfast. While there is good variety, the items themselves are the lower cost versions of their better counterparts (e. G. Lower quality cheeses and cold cuts, super cheap mass produced packaged jams, etc. ). The facility has a pool, which is relatively small (but who needs a pool when you have crystal clear refreshing turquoise waters of the Aegean just a few steps away). The hot water is provided by solar panels, which is common in Aegean Türkiye, but the system here takes forever for the water to warm up (we waited as long as over 10 minutes). By the facade and outer looks, it looks — and costs — as a premium place, but when you peel of the outer layer, the corner cutting and the cheap construction, relatively poor quality of breakfast becomes obvious. In summary, it is a decent hotel, but their cost (at relatively high $200+/day, is not justified in our opinion.

Hotel Mare Datça.
We booked this hotel for a 2 night stay to visit Datça from Bodrum. This budget friendly 3 star hotel has a great location with a paved promenade taking you easily to the beach front of Datça with its array of shops, cafes and restaurants. It has a large car parking area for guests, a swimming pool with loungers and parasols as well as a larger grass area again with loungers available for guests. The public beach is accessed by a a few steps across the promenade, the beach slopes gently into the sea which is crystal clear.
There is a pool bar which serves reasonably priced drinks, snacks and meals.
Our breakfast was included and a good variety of options were offered, 3 types of cereal, fresh bread, simit, cheese rolls, butter, jams, helva, continental breakfast included cheeses, meats, with additional Turkish options of olives, fresh green leaves, cucumber, tomatoes, dried fruits. Hot servings included things such as menemen, scrambled egg, hard boiled egg as well as aubergine peppers and tomatoes. Turkish tea and a variety of coffees from a machine available. Juice was offered but was extremely sweet. A large bottle of water was also given to each table.
We were upgraded to a bigger room with a sea view from its balcony. The room had 2 sections, the main bedroom area had air conditioning which worked well and was greatly appreciated. Bathroom had a wash basin area with small hairdryer as well as a socket for razors etc.

We really liked the hotel!
We came away with only positive impressions. The location is excellent — the sea is literally right in front of the hotel, just a two-second walk away. It’s only a pleasant 10-minute stroll along the shore to the city center.
The staff is incredibly polite and friendly, always ready to help. The rooms themselves are, unfortunately, a bit dated, but they are very clean, and cleaning is done daily. By some wonderful stroke of luck, our room was upgraded to a family room for free! So we ended up with two rooms and a side balcony with a stunning sea view🥰 it was so great that we decided to stay for two more days.
The breakfasts are good enough: a big selection of various cheeses, fresh vegetables, and a few different options for eggs. The coffee, unfortunately, wasn't quite the quality we hoped for, but there is always tea available.
The beach in front of the hotel is half sandy and half rocky. It’s quite clean (as long as it’s not right after the weekend). There are small umbrellas, but no sunbeds, so you can easily bring your own beach mat. However, if you want to sunbathe on loungers, there is an excellent green area and a pool right on the hotel property. A truly wonderful place! 🥰🩵
