A pleasant hotel near the beach. It's easily accessible by car, and you can park nearby. The service upon check-in was great: the owner — a Slovak woman — was really friendly and welcoming. The single-bed room was spacious and clean upon arrival. The hotel is in excellent condition. Compliments to the staff as they did a wonderful job cleaning my room. However there are some things which prevent me from giving this a 5-star rating. On my first day, I encountered 3 cockroaches in my bathroom. Fortunately I wasn't afraid of them and just cleaned them myself. But I can only imagine had it been someone with a fear for insects… :-) The hygiene is otherwise impeccable. The sound isolation could be improved. I slept in a room on the ground floor and there was a double door leading to my neighbours. Sadly I could hear their television and pretty much everything they said. Waking up with my neighbour singing was funny the first time, but got pretty old soon. A better layer of isolation in the double door will do wonders. The hotel was a little hard to find at first. It has a small sign in between an Italian restaurant (which they own too) and a massage parlor. It was unclear where the entrance (in a small alley) and check-in counter (inside the Italian place) were. If they can fix these issues, I'm sure The Mareeya Place will deserve 5 stars!
The host was amazing and friendly. Excellently maintained facilities. The room was very clean with pleasant decor, and just perfect. Great breakfast too and prompt help with taxis and tours. She went all out to make our stay enjoyable. Awesome knowledge of Kamala Beach. She was kind and helpful. Great place!
