Review of Railay Bay Resort & Spa-SHA Extra Plus 4*

Our trip from the harbor to Railay Beach wasn't pretty. We were dropped of at the harbor by our cab driver in the night. When we bought a ticket we had to carry our suitcases ourself into the water in the dark and walk up to 100 meters to step into the boat. We were wet upon until our bellies. When we asked the boat drivers for help, they first asked 3 times if we would pay them money for it. Of course we will pay them for their help, but the tone of voice was not service minded at all and very rude. Anyways arrived at the hotel, we came to the conclusion there are two harbors. The resort could facilitate a complementary shuttle service (in both harbors, included suitcase carrying) for their guests. And they completely failed by informing their guests properly how to get at the hotel and where they secure their service. Personally I expect this if I stay at a 4 star hotel. During our stay we did not feel any hospitality as well as interest and any form of respect. No smiles, usually last order during dinner is at 9.30 PM, but they will take last orders at 9.10 PM. Everything is rushed. Food is extremely bad and they charge €60, — to €90, — for dinner (based upon 2 people, main course, bottle of wine and water). We had better food on the streets of Bangkok. We also had a massage in the SPA. Massage was okay, unfortunately the place not like a SPA feeling. It more felt like I was backpacking again and went for a massage on the streets for €5, —. Than maintenance seems to be years ago, which is a shame as they own a large property on a beautiful place on earth. Railay beach is very pretty and there is still wild life on the peninsula. It is a real sad that there is a lot of trash on the island which they do not clean. I would not recommend anybody to go to Railay Beach as our experience is that the behavior at the rest of the island is just like as the at the resort. And if you decide to go to Railay Beach, than I would recommend travelers to stay at another resort.
