DO NOT STAY HERE! We did not enjoy our stay at Popular Resort at all. If it hadn't been for the fact that we booked for a full month's stay in advance and it was non-refundable, we would have left early on. By far our biggest issue was with the lady who was in charge at the resort (who we found out towards the end of the trip was the sister of the owner, which made everything make so much sense). Having read reviews elsewhere that have been put online in the couple of months since we booked, it seems many other people found the same issues. She seemed to treat the place as if she was also a guest and it was an inconvenience if she had to do anything for the actual paying customers. She was rarely around to speak to about anything. Instead of being available at the reception as I would expect at any other hotel, she was almost always in one of the rooms with the door closed either talking loudly on the phone, watching TV with the volume way up, or doing her makeup. One time I had to ask her to stop watching ridiculously loud videos on her phone on the porch next to ours when I was sat outside trying to use my computer, and my friend was in the room sleeping. When we checked out, she was nowhere to be seen so we just had to leave our key on the counter.
➜ Am for a really nice resort with nice bungalows. The hotel consists of three different hotels which all belong together. The popular has no pool directly but you can use the other two. Walking one minute to the other two. The second one also has a nice bar right over the beach with good cocktails. Unfortunately there is a star deduction as the owner tries very penetrative a aufzuschwatzen. Before I checked out she really wanted to get me a taxi for 400 bath for a whole 9 kilometers and still claimed that a tuk tuk could not drive the track. All rubbish, of course.
