I booked a 2 week stay at Golden Teak house with the intention of secluding myself to get cracking on writing my book. Instead, I was greeted by such a warm and welcoming spirit that drew me into spending time with some of the most wonderful hosts I have ever encountered. I didn’t know how much I needed the love, but that’s exactly what I got. Not just a beautiful clean place to lay my head, but inclusion into their home and family. We laughed, we dined, we shared. Jim and Marcel were so generous in their offerings of time, attention, guidance and setting up activities for me. Here at Golden Teak House, you get the best of both worlds: an excellent mini resort to experience the tranquil part of Chiang Mai, as well as the cultural experience of living among locals. Talk about a bang for your buck. There really is so much I could say about my stay here, but I fear boring you with all the details In a nutshell, I got all of my needs met. As a solo female traveler, experiencing the world for the 1st time, it was such a pleasure to stay in what I call a ‘mini oasis’, feeling safe, cared for and enjoying a learning experience; from gardening, to Thai cooking, to enjoying Jim’s easy and infectious laughter and enjoying deep and illuminating conversation with Marcel. Greeted by an abundant, absolutely delicious and luxurious breakfast every morning didn’t hurt either Detailing all that they did for me would take pages, but I must mention one more thing: I was sick while there.
