Home away from home … Owner is such a lovely lady…

Small hotel near the center of Chiang Mai. Very basic room, but adequate price. Very friendly and helpful staff. A bit of night noise from the nearby hostels. Economical solution valid for 2-3 nights.

We didnt stay at this place because it was fully booked. But the Lady who owes the place is so lovely and helpful. We had some questions about lanterne festival and elephant sanctuary and she helped us in any way so much. A very trustfully Person with an authentic hostel.

Lantern house is a pleasant and well located place to stay. The room was pretty basic and the shower was fairly weak, however Pak, the owner, was very helpful with booking our trips and transport.

Nice place for backpackers that want a private room with a bathroom and air con but don't need luxury. The outside area is nicely enlighted at night, hence the name of the hostel. The owner "pak" is very nice and gave us awesome recommendations like visiting the night market and an elephant camp.

We have little positives to report about the accommodation itself. The "landlady" was nice and the location is relatively central to explore the old town. Luckily, one of the price comforts a little.
We were greeted all the first exuberant by the owner's Beagle, who always used every opportunity to hide under our bed. The entrance area looks like the photos plus a finger-thick layer of dust on everything, including the "bar". The rooms are as imagined as Thailand backpacker who once saw the beach, only smaller and darker. On the ceiling a glaring neon tube and all the cables are free. There is no storage space and no hooks, so you have to store everything on the floor. We had booked a room with air conditioning which was de facto but not usable because it was louder than a launching Boeing. So we turned them off at night and had sweated at 32 °c according to air conditioning and had wished we had taken a fan room. But the biggest joke is the bathroom. I was already too big with my little 172 cm for the toilet, which had already extra only one XXS bowl. You still encounter with your knees on the wall and an extremely unfavorably placed tube, or just sit across it. The shower cubicle was simply the whole bathroom with a drain in the corner. So the toilet and sink were cleaned with shower. The towels smelled very uncomfortable when in contact with water.

Really enjoyed my stay here, Pak the owner went out of her way to help with everything. Even lent me her charger for the week as I lost mine! The bed is really comfy and rooms are spacious, definitely recommend!

Had a coffee at this place but I bet its one best place to stay in Chiang Mai. The owner, Pak, I know her personally who is one of the best host in the city! I have known a lot about the city I never knew just by talking to the staff here. They are very friendly and helpful.

Incredible stay here! Pak (the lady who runs it) was so helpful and nice, everything she recommended was always great and she never got tired of our endless questions about chiang mai. Room was nice and clean and definitely great value for money. Highly recommend!

This is a pretty good cheap bare bones place to stay. Pak is so nice and helpful, and the rooms do the job. Definitely get a room with air con though. The rooms with only fans are terribly hot (at least in May/June). I will say I wish we had met more people here, but the common area was outside and very hot. We learned on our last day here that apparently a lot of people staying at Lantern hang out at another hostel — Stamps — just down the road. It's worth checking out if you want to meet some more people. Overall would recommend Lantern House. Happy the dog (aka the "fat beagle") is a fun and homey aspect to the hostel as well.

Really enjoyed my stay here last year. Was only their for a couple of nights but staff were friendly and the location is excellent. It is a 15 minute walk from the nightclub district and super easy to catch a red cab from the nearby street. The rooms were clean and comfortable and lots of other hostels in the area meant there was always something to do.

The owner, Pak, is great. Always helpful, friendly, and available for guests. Truly enjoyed my time here. 350 baht for a private double room with private shower is a disappearing market in Chiang Mai… Then add Happy to the mix…

Pak is so friendly and lovely! Happy is a funny dog and the rooms are clean and quiet.

Perfect, the host is amazing! Go there, don't hesitate, it is the best place in Chiang Mai to stay, trust me! You can make friends, and enjoy your time at Lantern. Bed so confortable and cute room. Thank you Paaaakk!

Such a great atmosphere, and the best hosts to travelers and their guests! Definitely our favorite hostel we stayed at in Thailand. The rooms are clean and they have an awesome little dog we loved. They were so helpful with booking activities for us and even showed us around the city. Will definitely stay there again when we return!

Very nice house and friendly service! Thank you guys, we've been very well here! The house is close to the center, all services arround it. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The owners suggest you activities to do but never pressing you to do them. I honestly recommend it to people!

Lantern House Backpackers is an excellent hostel in the heart of Chiang Mai. It is a short walk to all of the major sights and has many restaurants and street vendors nearby. The private rooms are spacious, bathrooms clean and the living area welcoming. Pak was very friendly and accommodating during our stay, helping us book a tour in Chiang Mai and hostel at our next destination. Would definitely recommend for couples staying in town.

Lantern House is easily the best hostel in Chang Mai,, the rooms are newly refurbished, great prices and very clean but what really makes the place so awesome are the owners Golf and Amy, they know everything there is to know about the area, can organise all your travel or tours and take you to cool events like cabaret shows and Maui Thai boxing. Great bar and lounge area outside to mingle with other travellers. Don't stay anywhere else!
