Absolutely. Great for families and very peaceful. Alot of activities to do : tennis, kayaking, volleyball, giant chess. Great snorkelling spot with blue spotted stingrays. The food is amazing and you have alot of different choices. Wonderful scenery from private roof top, room is spacious. Friendly and awsome staff. I would definitely return!

Nice hotel, a great location. Downside is that you have to walk for 20 mins to get to some other restaurant, outside of the hotel.

This place is a small paradise. Delicious food, massive rooms with stunning views and super professional staff that takes good care of you. The manager Mr Kochain is very helpful and friendly. It is one of the best locations on Koh Mak. We stayed over 2 weeks. We fully recommend Ao Kao!

We spent 5 nights at the Ao Kao White Sand Beach Resort, which was undoubtedly the best accommodation of our three week stay in Thailand. Superb location (bungalow at the foot of the beach, with just a small driveway to cross), spacious and modern bungalow, roof terrace with hammock and lounge chair, friendly and smiling staff and who responded to all our requests (booking tickets boat to and from, taxi, etc. ). Everything was perfect!

We spent five days there.
Very warm welcome. A comfortable bungalow with water bottles offered. A view of the sea and not to mention the rooftop of our accommodation with hammock. Breakfast is very good. It is served as a buffet or on the plate depending on the crowds in the hotel. I was able to have a coconut oil massage facing the sea. Relaxing and enjoyable time. No complaints about this hotel! Meals are very good and the hotel is well maintained. I highly recommend this place. Thank you again!

Just got back from here … already thinking of returning. Went during low season and I wasn't used to the humidity; the forecast will have you believing it's constantly raining. Not accurate — during mid-July there was a nice variety of sun, overcast, and some rain over the few days I stayed. I booked everything direct with the resort, including all private taxi and boat travel to-and-from the island and everything went very smoothly. As a first-timer in Thailand, this was a great stress reliever since it's a 4-hour ride from Bangkok and I was worried about missing my flight (next time I'll fly to the Trat airport). Staff speaks English which helps someone like me with almost no command of the Thai language. I was in one of the beachfront bungalows — ideal view, a 5-second skip to the Gulf of Thailand, and the interior was simple and appropriately appointed. The shower water pressure is on the weaker side, but I guess this is due to the island's eco-conservation efforts. A downside of sleeping next to the water during low season is the constant wave-crashing at night when there's some wind. It's soothing but a bit loud at the same time. Perhaps not an issue during the better months. The front desk is combined with their Good View restaurant. Menu caters to travelers so if you prefer non-Thai food, they have sandwiches, etc. Their breakfast buffet includes Thai salad, bacon, eggs cooked-to-order, fruits, juice, coffee, toast, cereal, yogurt, and thin pancakes.

Fint hotell. Meget god service under hele oppholdet. Fantastiske rom I form av egne hytter med takterrasse. Hovedrommet er delt opp I relativt stort soverom og neebygget stue med åpen løsning. Innenfor et et stort forværelse til bad med vask, speil og innbygget garderobeskap. Og innenfor 2 rom til toalett og dusj. Dusjen er uten tak slik at naturlig lys kommer inn, som gjør det fantastisk fint. Det hele er også meget høyt under taket, rundt 4 meter. Takterrassen er enkel, men fin, med hengekøye, strandstol, 2 enkle stoler og et spinkelt bord. Omgivelsene inne på hotellområdet er også fine. Veldig forseggjort hage med fine planter, lys og sti. "Privat" strand, og rett ved vakre Ao Khao strand. Restaurant på hotellet med godt utvalg. Minussider: For det første er plasseringen på hotellet vanskelig. Uyen å gå langt kommer du ingen steder uten transport. Ikke engang til minimart. Vanskelig å leie scooter/sykkel. Det er derimot enkelt å ringe taxi for transport men dette blir fort dyrt. Strendene I nærheten ser fantastisk fine ut, men det er ikke mulig å bade pga fullt med koraller. Hotellet har dog et lite basseng hvis du ønsker å bade. På selve rommet stinket det også kloakk I dusjen. Det var plagsomt mye maur I flere av rommene, og I beskrivelsen av rommet sto det at vi fikk bassengutsikt, men dette er løgn ettersom bassenget er tett av trær for å få skygge, dermed har ingen av rommene dette. Restauranten manglet mange av tilbudene på menyen, og hotellets bar var aldri åpen.

Beautiful and relaxing place. Big bathroom, beaches everywhere and good internet. Very friendly staff. There is something very special about this island.

Amazing everything is perfect.

CAUTION: This place is notorious for Sand Flies. If you don't know what that is (like my husband and I didn't), please research in advance. Most tourists got bitten (read eaten) by the sand flies including me and my husband. The bites are EXTREMELY painful and itchy and can last upto months and leave scars. The beach is serene and beautiful. Clear view of the horizon and tiny islands in the vicinity. The sea here isn't crowded by speedboats, hence the untouched feel. Water is clear although not blue as in Koh Phi Phi.

Excellent location at the end of the beach. New and modern Bungalow, with solarium, A/C, fridge, coffee, outdoor shower, smart-TV, Wi-Fi, lounge, dressing room, safe, amenites, etc. Very friendly and helpful service, they help you in all you can. Breakfast buffet not included, but for 100 bht, you have eggs, bacon, salad, toast, pancake, muesli, cereals, yougurt, juices, tea, coffee. If you pay cash, bath, euro, dollar or pounds. They make you a 5% discount on the entire invoice. The food in the restaurant very good quality-price. Vegan section highly recommended. Pick up service at any port on the island. Kayak, pingpong, float and mask free diving.

In itself a nice facility, but the staff is rather disinterested. Room service is available on request only. Would be nice if you would tell this at check-in.

The price/quality ratio is unfortunately not quite right, as the neighboring facility lazy Day is rather recommended.

Breakfast costs 100 bhat extra. More is not worth it.
For the children-rich families who plunder it and make noise without end, the hotel can do nothing. But it's not beautiful.
The bungalows are very nice, especially the open large showers. Unfortunately, the neighbors like to burn their rubbish and then pulls the (poisonous? ) Stench in the upstairs open shower, we had 3 nights of biting smoke in the bathroom.
Every Saturday, together with the tourists, the island is cleaned (trash hero) with great yellow T-shirts — but that the burned trash stinks everywhere and there are still countless heaps of rubbish on the island… it doesn't fit together.
To pretend to be German-eco and to be green and cereal is just as good as implausible as the SPD.
Mopeds are Lent… State of concern but is fun.
Every day we had to ask several times to turn off this hideous and far too noisy elevator music. Sitting by the sea and listening to the waves is no longer contemporary.
But most who leave here make quartzen (smoking) and feed masses of fat food or/and are blasted by the screaming Bratz. In any case mega overweight or/and have your Thai "no" in it.
All over the island there is pizza and burgers and fries… which confirms my observation.
Exploring the island on your own — really a little paradise — is really great. Prices attract mega everywhere. In Khao Lak last year it was really cheaper.

On a beautiful beach quietly located complex. The Sunshine Villas are very spacious with a large shower area. The highlight are the roof terraces that are on each of the villas.

Beautiful bungalows, friendly staff, great food and reasonable prices. Lots of veggie choices on the menu and plenty to do in the area. The beach is nice, but there is limited room right at the resort, especially when the tide is in.

Very nice hotel. There have been two times. Everything was great. Clean rooms. New bungalows. They don't stink. Like many other bungalows in other hotels. Friendly and helpful staff. The barbecue choice is not very big. But it pleases that the bar all cocktails from 5 to 11 pm to 100 baht. And they are very tasty and quality. Masseurs are professionals. They do massage with knowledge of the business. The guests are mostly Germans.

The bungalows were very nice and spacious. War had those with "pool vision. " However, the pool is not really respectable, but you have it more right outside the door with one of the most beautiful sections of the island. It is not very deep, but it is very long. The staff were also very friendly. We rented a scooter here for 300 baht, but they had better have already retired it. Otherwise a nice stay.

Number one is the biggest Bungalow the most private with the most, best Ocean View. We were in number 3 which is the largest. This Bungalow is incredible, the finish inside is awesome. The restaurant is wonderful, the menu is huge. The owner, the manager and the staff are very beautiful and very wonderful people.

Great resort, friendly staff, wonderful beach and good food. The bungalows are spaceous and have a private terrace. Bycicles can be rent near for only100 baht per day.

We stayed at the beautiful Ao Kao White Sand Beach for 4 days and loved every single moment! This hotel is incredible, it is such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The staff is excellent and the hotel has everything you need for a perfect vacation! The beach is beautiful, the bungalows are very clean, big and perfect! We love the cool rooftop, which ever bungalow has. The breakfast buffet is the best one we ever had in Thailand and Koh Mak is our new favorite island We will be back for sure and can highly recommend this great hotel to everyone!
