Firefly Boutique Lodge

Had some food and drinks here after a walk around Bagamoyo and it is so serene and calm. Cocktails, juice and food was stunning.

One moment you're walking on a prehistoric and rustic built alleyway, next you're in a foyer facing a swimming pool and restaurant with people enjoying.
The food was excellent and presentation exceptional. The food really deserves a second visit.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. There are 2 pools. Supper was good.
AC worked in one of the 2 rooms I was offered. Beds are fairly comfortable with clean linen. Mosquito nets are no longer white but are now grey colored as they are dirty. Pillows were old and had mildew stains. The concrete floor of my bathroom was wet with a puddle of murky water, and did not dry overnight. I was not confortable enough to shower so I cannot report on that. The room needs maintenance, paint and deep cleaning. Wifi only works in the pool area. Room had a safe and no TV. Rooms on the second floor are up 20 steps. There is no elevator.

After reading reviews of this place we have decided to stay for 2 nights at the dormitory for 40k per night (17 usd) per person. The place is very nice for a hangout, but I would definitely advise you not to stay at the dormitory.
Has a big private parking space. The staff are friendly, the hang-out space is nice and cozy. Great pool to relax. So basically, it is a great place to just sit and relax and read books or work on your laptop. It is quite central, close to the ocean and to the fish market. You can bring a ball and play at their parking area (it is spacious and has a garden). The breakfast is too basic, you have 3 choice: bread with avocado paste, omelette, or plate of fruits. And you can choose only one. They provide with tea and coffee.
Looking at the prices of their normal rooms we thought even dormitory would be maintained or at least would be clean. It was a big disappointment.
The sheets and pillow cases were very very dirty, having stains on them. (I had to buy my own pillow and use that one) The paint was coming off the wall and the whole dormitory was full of dust. Where ever you swipe your finger, the dust was coming off. Even from the concrete around the beds. The toilet is slippery and you can fall off after or during the shower so you have to be careful. The toilet has a door facing the street with enough space to look through.
After seeing the maintenance of the rooms we couldn't even ask for towels. I know you would say it's only 17 usd.

Most beautiful hotel i’ve ever been to! everything is cared for, perfect place to stay in Bagamoyo, you can walk everywhere from here. The manager was extremely helpful and kind.

We had an amazing stay at Bagafirefly in Bagamoyo! The place has such a great vibe, from the warm ambience to the fantastic live music and band, everything was spot on.
The food was absolutely good, and the dorms were clean and comfortable. We had an early morning ahead, and the management made everything so smooth for us. The buffet breakfast was a real plus quick, no waiting, and so satisfying.
Overall, we were very happy with the place. If you're planning a group trip, I highly recommend The Cove, perfect for future groups and gathering. Would definitely go back!

This is a beautiful, boho-designed hotel with a beachy feel.
Even though it was hot and humid during my stay, I still had a pleasant time.
The staff were friendly, organized, and accommodating.

If you want the have teh Zanzibar experience go Firefly, great entree, spacy rooms, central in Stone Stone, great service and to top it off access via wobbly stairs to a roof terras with a 360 view of Stone Town.

This is by far the best place we have stayed in Tanzania! It’s a triumph of aesthetic, history and great hospitality. The energy, and romantic detail is captivating. The food is equally outstanding!
The gate at the bottom leads to a whole new world of ancient fishing boats — feeling like you’re going back in time……

The place has got a soul… And a king and gentle staff that make you feel at home, while acting very professionally.
The food is delicious and the living open room by the swimming pool is relaxing and beautifully green.
Biscuit, the dog, is a bonus, for animal lovers.

I understand that this place is highly rated, but this review is nothing to downgrade the place. I am just writing, from my personal experience.
This place was nice and cozy. The best part was the Garden. Full of greenery and a small pool in between. They have made nice place to sit around and relax or eat. You ll get a good vibe of old times. The food was also delicious. The breakfast was included with the price and they had a decent breakfast.
Now, the issue was that we were not given the same room which we booked. It was said that the AC is not working in that room, so we got a room in the West wing. The room was not good for me. It was compact. But the most ironic thing was the AC was not working in this room as well.
Apart from this, we had a good time here. I ll prefer to stay here again, during non holiday time.

I really enjoyed my stay at Firefly! I booked a private room, which was nice. It was a bit dark since it is an old building but the common space around the pool is a really lovely place to hang out. The food was quite good and the staff were friendly.
My only complaint was a tour guide recommended by the hotel, Daniel, who overcharged me on my tour and bus ticket (he tried to overcharge me on a tour in the next town I was going to as well but luckily I declined and asked for the contact info to coordinate it myself). When I confronted him about the bus ticket, he was quite defensive and refused to refund me. I saw another reviewer had a similar experience with him. I would suggest finding a guide on Trip Advisor instead of through the hotel.

My room was very bad with high moisture level. One of our friends’ mosquito net was worn out and she was bitten mosquitos. You can enjoy the bar and the service but dont stay.

I really enjoyed my time in this well run hotel. Safe, good drinks, food and of course, the swimming pool.

Nothing like chillin at Firefly. Creative and tasty cold drinks, crystal clear pool and magic night lighting in a lush garden.

The workers go extra miles for their customers, the management led with Happy is awesomely kind, Great hospitality for her patients.
