We stayed at Karama Lodge for the first two nights of our trip in Tanzania. After getting in around midnight into Kilimanjaro, we were picked up in a safari jeep and brought to the lodge up on a hill. The individual cottages were great with a comfortable bed, a hot and powerful shower, and a nice deck. If you are looking just to rest for a day or two before safari it is ideal. However, this place and staying in Arusha has its downsides. Drawbacks: 1) Due to lack of communication, we learned that anywhere you stay and try and pay with card you will be wacked with a fee. Here it is a hefty 5% credit card charge. They also gave us flack for dollars from before 2009, despite legislation saying they have to accept anything from after 2006. Make sure you come prepared for situations like this. 2) Additionally, we were not informed the pool was closed for renovations. This would have changed our decision to stay there and should be communicated to guests prior to booking. 3) Arusha leaves much to be desired. We walked around for a few hours and were underwhelmed. We later received recommendations to just go to a coffee plantation or get out of the city because there is not much for travelers there. Overall: We liked our cottage/ room, but we would not stay there again.

Attentive staff and fantastic location on the top of a hill. Mosque is a little noisy though.

A great experience in this lodge. Members of the staff were so nice and friendly, the food was excellent and the place in the nature was a fabulous. The pool was also much appreciated after a long day in the car. This is definitely the perfect place for a short stay in Arusha.

Karama is Swahili word for hospitality and their true Karama, not only that you will have a beautiful view of Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru from Lodge.

Beautiful lodge located on the mountainside. Houses on stilts with canopy bed, big shower and everything you need. Very friendly staff, prices are perfectly okay.
Would love to come back.

Serene environment out of town with a green gardens. Nature lovers would like the place. The food is ala carte basis and very delicious. The room was very spacious with the theme of nature. This is a perfect eco lodge. No TV or radio in the rooms or bar. However, there is Wi-Fi everywhere in the lodge. The road leading to the lodge is in some forest and it is not advisable to walk. Make sure to save the phone numbers of some taxi operators in the event one wants to go out of the lodge and back.

The rustic and cozy themes attract me the most. I just can't stop falling for the place.

Very mediocre. The food is bad, the rooms are weirdly designed, and there is no hot water for the shower. Nice view, though.

Probably the best hotel in Arusha!

This place is amaizing you have high quality tents with private ablution and king size beds, the food is very good (international menu) and also a very decent wine chart. The best is the nature of the place and peace but with full access to Wi-Fi.

A nice Lodge situated on Kijenge hill overlooking Moshono area. It has a nice sunrise view. It is built on the hill slope without changing the hill slope so the balcony is elevetaled. Nice lounge, rooms, view, food and swimming pool. A great place to be.

All well, it has a swimming pool and the breakfast is great. I was including everything on the trip, so that is not the price as such.

Good lodge with nice houses. Food is excellent: good breakfast buffet, also for dinner is an option for an all you can eat buffet for 25 dollar. It was an bit dissopointed that the swimming pool is in the shadow most of the day.

Beautiful lodge with very good food (organic), a nice cool pool and comfortable huts with a balcony. I liked it a lot!
