A good place to overnight after arriving for Safari on the Northern Circuit. It's about an hour from Kilimanjaro airport and the Main road is pretty good — less so the road up to the lodge so if you're in a standard "minibus" rather than a safari truck be prepared for a bumpy last 10-15 minutes!
It's pretty quiet and we got a good night's sleep. Breakfast was standard buffet fayre. The pool looked nice but it was really just a place to sleep.
Wi-Fi available near the pool + restaurant but not in our room which was as they said. Friendly staff too.

I cant say enough about this place. But the service was excellent, the staff professional and management very friendly and helpful. Excellent place to rest after a dusty and hectic day in the bush. Karibu!

Relatively clean. Unfortunately had to ask 4x at the reception for towels until actually some came. The pool makes a neat impression.
Dinner as a menu, but too small portion for hungry mountaineers. The breakfast buffet is very slow to refill when a meal is off. The same goes for the coffee.

Is the one of the best hotel in Arusha region.

What an amazing Lodge. Infact its manager is very kind and the workers also follow along. The place is very calm.

Ilboru safari Lodge Is the on of the Best hotel in Arusha Tanzania. Because they provide good service Also they swimming pool, playing grounds for the children, and best of the best they have Live band.

DONT STAY HERE — not clean, to much noise (close to a club/bar/party) The bathroom was full of spiders, not clean at all. (I'm attaching a picture so you can see the real installations) Pool was nasty, ver dirty floor At night you can't sleep because of the music of the club or bar nearby (really loud, not exaggerating) We called reception, but that said that music came from outside the hotel, so that could do nothing For the price, you can get much better sleep AVOID THIS PLACE.

(2013) It's a very nice place to start your safari in Tanzania. Close to the airport and very relaxed. (*=bad / **=reasonable / ***=nice / ****=almost perfect / *****=perfect)

I stayed there in both 2015 and 2016. The food was excellent both times (the Kimemo coffee and the cheeseburger are both a must! ). The upstairs dining area has been renovated and it's incredibly beautiful now. They have also added evening entertainment and I really enjoyed the vibe dancing with other guests, getting to play a drum (poorly! ), and even doing a fire limbo. It's a quiet gem in the middle of Arusha.

We stayed at Ilboru Safari Lodge before and after our 3 day safari. We also stayed at the Tarangire Sopa Lodge and Ngorogoro Sopa Lodge, but Ilboru had the hottest water and THE BEST FOOD. The food was so amazing, the best I had while visiting Tanzania. I also enjoyed the ambiance (metal sculptures, sitting places and lanterns) of the resort. The bed mattress was only "ok" but on par with the other beds in Tanzania during my stay. Would definitely stay — and eat — there again.

We stayed at Ilboru Safari Lodge prior to and after our Kilimanjaro Climb. The lodge had a positive vibe thanks to the beautiful lush gardens and decor but mostly thanks to the professional and caring staff. Helen at the front desk was very welcoming and caring. She would remember our names and ensure that our needs were met. I did not have accommodation secured after our Kilimanjaro journey with African Walking Company (incredible company! ) but once we saw how tranquil this place is, we decided to stay 5 more nights at Ilboru just to chill. Sitting at the pool bar, one cannot ignore a gentleman that would never slow down, all day ensuring the clients at the restaurant have a drink or he would recommend a bite to eat. He was a polite, kind, funny, hard working man. His name is Babu and the place is lucky to him. Another incredible individual that made an impact on us was Loshiva. Every day, this young man would greet us at breakfast, polite but not shy, he would teach us a little more kiswahili. The lodge was very busy with guest coming and going but Helen, Babu, Loshiva and all the staff always made you feel welcome and special. Our room was immaculate every day. The food is delish. The location is good. We would sometimes leave the place and get local chipsmyeye which is an omelette made with chips (fries) and eggs. If we wanted to go to town, Helen would arrange for a local taxi to take us to town and bring us back.

Stayed at Ilboru for several days with a large group and the staff, services, food. Cabins and overall experience was awesome! Highly recommend, A+++++
