Review of Hotel Restaurant Hirschen 2*

Our 18 day trip through Austria, Germany and Switzerland hit an abrupt road block when we arrived at Interlaken. The staff could not find our reservation. So they bring in the "Chief" who tells me she cancelled my reservation on her own decision. I have her open up her email and there is not only our confirmation mail from earlier that year but an original email from me asking to reconfirm our reservation 1 month prior to our trip. There in writing is my request but she has no answer. So her solution — she makes a call and sends us to a nice "big fancy hotel" where they can accomiodate my family of 5. We show up and the place is a Hostel and the beds are in a common room. (are you kidding me? ). Now at this stage we are screwed. Drove all day from Freiberg and kids are exhausted, so Hostel does bets they can and we pay extra for a 6th bed so we can have a room for at least one night. Then later that night my kids have to be exposed to a bunch of Pot Smiking youth hanging out in the place. Maybe thats OK in Switzerland but certainly not something I wanted my 9 year old daughters to see. Staff and especialy the manager at Hirschen-Interlaken was very rude and had no answers for us. They screwed up and then wouldn't take responsibility. Really ruined our stay in Interlaken and left us very bitter. To any traveler I can only say — look elsewhere or risk the same fate. Pay more and you maybe you will get service where the customer, especially a travelor from another country actually is important.
