My dog and I stayed 2 nights at this great hotel. Even the arrival was perfect. Starting with luggage service via quick check-in, to surprise for the dog in the room. Wow. Breakfast buffet grandiose. Dinner and service in the park restaurant wonderful. I felt very comfortable. During the day we could enjoy the amenities of the Giessbach Nostalgia Pass. Wonderful short breaks.

The Parking fees are outrageous there are only overpriced day tickets to buy. For a short visit to the waterfalls incl. Coffee and cake in the hotel you are forced to buy a day ticket. Not so long ago, about 3 months ago while Corona was very present in Switzerland you could still 1 h 2h etc. Tickets. How much money do you need to get back to normal in parking fees (your Corona failure). I thought I showed my parents who were to visit were still fast the waterfalls and approve us a zvieri, but with the usury we immediately made the fly. I very much hope that this will return to a socially acceptable level. I first thought the villeicht already the cake is contained in the park billet. Would love to look forward to an opinion on their part. Greet a disappointed family who didn't want to leave the money in the hotel in the parking lot!

We had a wonderful time at this property, it's beautiful, very romantic and relaxing, there's the possibility of lots of walks around! We'll get back to it! ♡

A beautiful historical building in a beautiful natural setting. Rooms with stylish antique furniture and beautiful views of the lake, waterfall or forest. Pleasant staff and good food with a large selection of wine.

It’s absolutely magical! Like stepping back in time, and an incredibly kind staff. It’s a storybook setting.

Very nice hotel all in cachet of the time, either you like or you find it too heavy the red velvet. The view of the lake is stunning and the funicular remains a classic that the whole family will love and is included in the room otherwise it's 8 francs for the way back and forth.

The view was breathtaking, the food was good, but the service was terrible. We had to redo all the orderings (12 people) because the waitress clicked a wrong button on her tablet, and she made us feel responsible for her mistake. Also, 40 minutes before we left the restaurant, we ordered something to drink, and it took them 30 minutes to bring it. Not even a "sorry, we forgot you". And during lunch, we ordered water several times, and they forgot it at least three times. To top it off, all the waiters and waitresses seemed pretty unhappy, and they showed it.

Fairy-tale like in its stately opulence, well-hidden from the sophomoric locations where most hotels are. It is a destination place. Set amidst nature's well-preserved habitat (Giessbach Falls), the hotel offers the weary soul a chance to find its lost verve. I would certainly recommend a good (and extended) visit.

Amazing historical hotel. The staff, the hotel, views, everything was perfect. The hotel thought of everything you need. The sound of waterfall and the lake & mountain view, tones of piano amazes you. It is perfectly clean. The stuff is amazingly warm and kind. Its decoration brings you back in history. Breakfast was fabulous. Lots of hiking trails, forests. If you have the chance to stay here, you will want to stay more. Best hotel in the region!

Impressive historic hotel with very friendly staff and good food. This grand hotel has very nice rooms. The view of the Giessbach Falls and Lake Brienz is unique. A true gem in the Bernese Oberland. Worth a visit again and again.

Deplorable service. The staff was very unsympathetic and arrogant. After waiting for more than 20 minutes, we left. Too bad because the setting is splendid.

Grand old style, turn of the 20th century hotel.

Drop dead beautiful and historical hotel and restaurant with views of spectacular waterfall on one side and Lake of Brienz on the other. Lovely terrace for food and drinks. Service can be slow but friendly. Food can be spotty, and sometimes not match the beautiful environment.

Nice location and great view.

Very nice place above the lake of Brienz with a lot of possibility of walks, with different difficulties. Nice falls and we can get behind it. The hotel is of period but very well maintained (bravo for having managed to keep, as is, this establishment full of history). The staff is super friendly and very welcoming at all Levels. Bravo! I really recommend to spend a moment and a night anyway. I would come back…

Today at 10:30 my wife visited the terrace of the Grand Hotel, which, unfortunately, has not been Operated (I believe) because the other guests were served. After 10 minutes she gave up and went empty-handed to the Länte. Greeting beautiful night (Shame, Shame).

Nestled in a magnificent natural panorama, this truly exclusive hotel has the charm of the 19th century.

Beautiful place, strong, one of the most powerful places in Switzerland, lovingly renovated, kept the traditional character.

Very rude staff at the coffee shop in the hotel lobby. I won't pay a penny at this coffee shop. The rude staff said that, he is very busy with the customers that's why he acted so rude! This is not an excuse for being so rude and unprofessional with the customers.

The best of Switzerland. If you want to live in nature and feel the country side of Switzerland. This is the place to be with beautiful lake and waterfall around the hotel. 2-3 hours beautiful drive from Zurich.

To visit once in your life Attention you will have to heat its wallet, but you will be able to live good times in this hotel, either on the terrace, in the rooms of the restaurant or at the bar.
Take the train to Interlaken-Ost, then go to the pier a few minutes on foot. Everything is indicated. Departure by boat to Giessbach-See (attention the 1st floor is the first class, this one I had not heard yet and I stayed doubtfully). From there you have a funicular which rises in a few minutes to the castle of the Grand Hôtel de Giessbach. For the return walk back down in 12 minutes and take the boat back towards Brienz. The train station is next to the port and you can return to all the destinations by train with a considerable time saving compared to the boat. In the daily map of the train, the boat is free, except the funicular!
The Grandhotel Giessbach funicular is the first funicular in the world with a mid-term switch. It was built in 1879 by the Aarau machine factory, Niklaus Riggenbach (director) and novel ABT (engineer).
It was in the interest of economy that novel ABT built for the first time a switch destined for a funicular. The first version was complex: The inner flanges of the first car and the outer flanges of the latter ensured, with guide rails at the switch, that the cars always took the right track.

It true so great… (Rooms, facilities and The View! ) and the breakfast is true the Bessie in Switzerland what I have seen…

Old Palace transformed into a luxury hotel, enjoying an exceptional location above Lake Brienz and on the edge of an impressive waterfall. Possible service by boat and then by funicular.

We went to this hotel for a lunch break after a longday walking in giessbach I entered the reception for a look. Inside was like a historic place and from outside is amazing too with super beautiful views on the waterfall side and on the lake from another side. Food was okey not wow but sitting on the terrace with breathtaking lake view ull forgive any mistake can happen. I recommend the visit. The advantage of this hotel is far from any distractions meant for people who needs calmness or for romantic honeymooners.

If you pass here as a hiker, you will be really ripped off at the kiosk. The location is beautiful!

Don't bother to book a room here. This place is in middle of nowhere. Unless you are traveling with a car or can afford taxi everyday for 25 CHF to travel to nearest public transport, this hotel is not suitable for tourists who would have planned travel to nearby locations. The rooms are tiny for the price and pathetic. Do not even think to book classic size room. Do yourself a favor and stay at decent hotel near Interlaken Ost.

Bad food and really unfriendly service. We will not come back.

Superb hotel and restaurant. We had only lunch in the restaurant which was very good (especially the local sausages). The view from the terrace is fantastic and includes the Brienzer lake and the Giessbach waterfall. You can reach it by ship, during a walk along the lake, and by bus. Even if you are only eating there you should have a look at the pretty resturbished interior of the hotel.

This hotel is such a great hotel.
The backdrop of the building reminded us of the Grande Budapest Hotel from the film of the same name:)

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and had the right portion. Ambiance and scenery are worth a trip, really very nice. Only point that bothered me, the only toilet I found near the terrace was constantly occupied and you had to make up, there were only 2 pieces for the meeting.

Beautiful view. We didn't stay here but we stopped by while hiking the waterfall nearby. We loved the property and location. There was even a Ferrari in the parking lot!

Beautiful place. Unfortunately, the many waiters did not see and grüssten us. After 10 min There was still no operation, although at least 2 waiters served the direct neighbouring tables.
Luckily there was still the kiosk where a very friendly lady sold US coffee and cool drinks.

It is a wonderful place, the hotel and the atmosphere that surrounds it guarantees to all guests tranquillity and well-being… I hope soon to be able to give more detailed information about the rooms and the restaurant. The interviews to the customers are still excellent!

Must see! You won't regret it. Great waterfall views, amazing hiking trails, delicious ice cream on the balcony seating restaurant of the hotel. Highly recommended!

Super location, nice hotel, nice Director.

Food and accommodation very good. But unfortunately officially issued vouchers will not be accepted by the Grand Hotel Giessbach. This is justified, that you also would have something else consuming booked facilities (what… is mentioned on said vouchers not a Word) This fact is communicated to one of the transports in an arrogance and unkindness unequalled!
As a guest of, already for a few years in a seminar of a reputable organization in the Grand Hotel Giessbach participates, can I expect that is also considered a "Guest" and not like anyone from the gutter! I'll stay away in future Giessbach Grand Hotel!

Great location, sunny terrasse at the waterfall and nice walking paths. The kitchen is below average, meat plate ok but nothing special, the meringue just disappointing. They serve you meringues from supermarket instead of home made Meiringer ones. Service is friendly but with long waiting time.

Outstanding! It feels like being in the movie "the grand Budapest hotel " the hotel, the funicular, and the steamboat.

The view from the terrace on the first floor is spectacular.
The service is nice.
The cream of asparagus for 15 — tends to be an asparagus water soup. Taste bitter half full, the asparagus pieces without taste, the consommé Cup. Real shame.

Incredibly gorgeous atmosphere. The hotel is one of a kind and absolutely worth the $5 trip up the train. From there, you'll see one of the greatest waterfalls in all of Switzerland. It's easy to spend 3-4 hours dining, drinking, taking pictures, and hiking the numerous trails.

Beautiful art Nouveau Hotel with a large terrace with a view over the lake of Brienz. The best way to reach the Hotel with a Steamboat ride and enjoy the mountains.

We have the 19. September a class trip mi lunch 50 /51 it was a herlicher day.

I have been in Switzerland for 13 days and it's the best hotel I have stayed in. The location of it is perfect. It's quiet and spacious with the magnificent view of the Giessbach Waterfall. The hotel itself is classy and the room is comfortable. And the breakfast is so delicious with good quality food. I will be very willing to stay in this hotel again.

Great Accommodation. The house is in a good condition and all are very friendly. We have a wonderful weekend experience. In the Gourmet Restaurant, you eat fine, the products are mainly locally and seasonally.

This historic hotel has its name in every respect worthy of. Wonderful atmosphere with style, attentive, very friendly staff, and the food, very good! Here, it feels like God in heaven.

It's a magnifisant hatel. Like a princess in the castle. But, it would be the best if the Wi-Fi available in all rooms.

A trip value, or Overnight.

The movie Band of Brothers had a scene here, and I told my husband I wanted to go. So we booked, and it was beautiful. The location is the best thing as the price is quite expensive from US $ to CHF. We only stayed for a night and enjoyed the restaurant at the bottom that had a wonderful 4 course meal. The waterfall is wonderful to be so close to. We stayed during off season, so we had no problems with service and found we were payed extra attention. I appreciated the historical value of the hotel and how it was not too modern. A great place to stay for a night during off season. Be patient driving there as the road is very narrow and you often have to wait for oncoming traffic, horses, hikers. You should drive to the side entrance of the hotel and drop off your bags before parking. Def worth a visit, and bring a great camera.

We a party of 8 people were celebrating my sisters birthday. The service was one of the worst we ever had. First ordering Champagne: we got a bottle on the table but had to wait for the glases quite 15 minutes. The food was ok although the fish we ordered was not the one on the menu but the one they offered in the gourmet restaurant. For the well priced red wine the waiter wanted to serve cheap glases instead the appropriate one. Though we had to tell him. Empty champagne glases, bottles etc. Were not removed from the table. By the end of the meal it was a mess on the table. It was the first and last time to visit this place. Its a shame for this lovely and pictoresque place.

Location is definitely the best thing that this hotel has going for it. It's elevated above the edge of the Brienzersee with a great view across the lake, and the Giessbach waterfall right next to the hotel is very nice. The general ambiance of the hotel itself is nice too; it has an elegant turn-of-the-century feel. We ate at one of the restaurants and the food was good, though the service was quite slow. My main complaint was the quality of the rooms: my wife and I stayed in one of the smaller rooms, and the floor was slanted and the bed not particularly comfortable, despite the fact that the nightly rate was well over 200 francs. On the plus side, the bathrooms had been renovated and were nice. Overall, it wasn't a bad choice, but I'm not sure whether I'd go back (for an overnight visit, at least).
