We are here now. We are Americans using the Volvo Overseas Delivery program. We are cruising around the west coast of Sweden for a few days and staying here for two nights.
The hotel was booked by the Volvo US based travel agent. Turns out she just used Expedia. She got us the cheapest room available with no amenities. Meaning no meals nor restaurant reservations and no access to the spa.
When we got here, Marcus was manning both the Reception Desk and the Lobby Bar, which charmingly are the same. I mentioned that I suspected our travel agent maybe didn’t do what we asked of her. We said we were willing to upgrade, could he help us?
Marcus is wonderful. The hotel is fully booked. We’ll stay in our basic room tonight. Tomorrow we get their last remaining Coastal view room. He got us reservations to each restaurant, late yet that’s what we prefer. This took hours. He wanted to have a good experience.
While we were waiting, our server in the Familla restaurant sat with us and explained how the restaurant worked, how the breakfast buffet was set up for tomorrow and how to get coffee or tea quickly. Awesome.
So, I don’t understand the other reviews that complain about the service here. Everyone has been outstanding. Especially Marcus. And everyone else too.
Thank you also to all the wonderful Swedes we have met today. I understand now why you are always so kind and happy.
Our stay was truly an exceptional experience! From the warm hospitality to the excellent spa services, everything was top-notch. A special highlight was the thoughtful birthday surprise, walking into our room to find a heartfelt greeting and balloons made the celebration even more special. The staff were wonderful, and the dinner service was impeccable. We truly appreciated the attention to detail and the genuine care from everyone. We’ll definitely be staying here again. The hotel is situated just by the sea. When we checked in there was quite a long queue as everybody wanted to benefit as much as possible of the spa facilities. The young girls in the reception were however very efficient and giving us all a welcoming smile. We had a room with a big balcony overlooking the sea — beautiful! The indoor pool area was nice with relaxing sofas and a bar. The outdoor pool was nice and hot, fog steaming. I wish we had been alone — a lot of people hanged out here, but we still had a good time.
The Brasserie Famille served us a delicious three course dinner. I can especially recommend the scallop, the boef tartar and the cod. Eloge a la cuisine! The staff is super devoted and professional. So in all, thanks for a great stay!
