Twenty4 Hostel

This hostel needs a good amount of care and maintenance. The great staff to which I left the star tries to balance everything that goes wrong: Rotten floor planks, rats in the kitchen, ac that causes respiratory problems, a dead and dirty patio and a general lack of equipment. The owner should finally invest and quickly provide the materials for the renovation/maintenance.

Twenty 4 Hostel is a well located. The girls on reception are very friendly and that was probably the best thing. Unfortunately, there were a lot of mosquitos, which the hostel is not to blame for but something to keep in mind. Only one bed came with a net. The main reason I booked this place was because it had a kitchen and I cook my own food because of intolerances. However, the gas was not working, and I was told every day it would be fixed the following day for a whole week. I do not know whose fault it was, but had I known this before, or even while I was there, I may have booked somewhere else. They also said I could pay with a card. But when I arrived I was told there was an extra fee to pay by card. Had I known this before, I would have exchanged cash beforehand. As it was a Sunday, I couldn't. Additionally, the information on buses in the reception area was not always correct, leading to me having to spend a few hours wandering around Paramaribo. The garden and bird noises are very nice and tropical.

The facilities in this hostel were absolutely catastrophic. The door to the bathroom in our double room was almost falling apart and could only be closed by force. The bathroom was fine. Toilet paper was not refilled. The mattresses were very old and you could feel every spring. The staff were very friendly and helpful, though.

If they're full, they'll turn you away without further advice. Enjoy life in the streets!

Awesome place, we met Marcos the Argentinian guy who was as volunteers and he was lovely! Thank you for everything Marcos, atte: El mexicano Eduardo, El tico Sthycp y El cubano Amaury.

Location is good. The common area and backyard is nice. Everything else isn't. The worst part was the non-existent service. Young people were manning the reception all day and had answers to absolutely nothing. Toilet paper wasn't replaced in toilets for 3 days. Staff were continuously on their phone — most of the time with airbuds — and playing online games at the reception while face timing with their friends. Or outside smoking. Again on the phone and with airbuds. One afternoon one of the staff even proceeded to go to sleep on the couch in front of the TV in the common room. I mean come on. I will at least find another place next time.

It was in walking distance to many sites. The staff wasn't very helpful or friendly and tried to charge me for something that they couldn't even identify.

Very good hostel for the price. Nice community over there.

Great value for money — well located, clean and offers great atmosphere for solo travelers to meet other people.

The best accomodation for travellers in all of the Guyanias. The only hostel too but it's up there with the best and I've stayed at hundreds of hostels. Nice chill out areas downstairs and outside in the back yard. Book exchange, some classic video games. Couches. The dorms only have 3 beds and single beds without bunks which is fantastic. Very clean, organized and showers are the same. In the exact location you want to be in walking distance to many of the sights and good restaurants. Towels included and keys for each room which is fantastic. The owner Jan is putting a lot of effort into the set up and management of the hostel. He's very involved in the day to day management and customer experience. I stayed here 3 separate times as I travelled throughout the region and the hostel alone will have you hanging around in paramaribo longer than you expected.
